In no way am I trying to create drama here, just expressing my opinion.

 the_lone_nomad is one of my very favorite artists, and one of the most prominant sphinxes here on FA. Its my belief that we Sphinxes should stick together. <3 However, her rigid belifes on what a sphinx should BE make it very difficult for one to identify with the creature.

I dont really know what it is about my fursona that makes me call her a Sphinx, but I know that is what she is. No, she does not have a human face, or many human elements about her, but she is still wholly a sphinx.

Her legs are that of a doe, along wtih her face, ears, and the horns she has are inspired by rams. In fact, the doe about her is inspired by a ram as well. Its traditional in Egypt that a sphinx may be a lion with a ram's head.

Also, like many sphinxes, Doe-Eye has wings as well. This is not uncommon.

Her body is roughly that of a lion, while one of her tails, though inspired more by drawings fo the tails of devils and demons (a goat tail) also resembles the tail of a lion.

The other more closely resembles that of a wolf. Why she has this tail is still a mystery to me.

She's a carnivore, prone to being quite fierce in her feral form, but she's also a mystic. She's...gentle and wise. These are things that she also shares in common with the traditonal sphinx who told riddles, was quite beautiful and full of grace, but was also brutal and murderous.

I dont know why I am so defensive over my sphinx BEING a sphinx, but I think its because I identify so closely with sphinxes and always have. However, I believe there is more to a sphinx than a feline with a human's face. I think its an essence, a feeling, a presence, more than it is phyxical apperance.

 Queue's latest journal got me to thinking: Maybe I should go light vegiterian again. I enjoyed that, and felt good about myself because I was maintaning a sorta...diet thing by myself. Also, going vegitarian isn't nearly as hard as going Vegan.

Its something to think about, and I was actually thinking about it today when I noticed that my lunch was vegitarian. Cheese and pesto pizza with a cornmeal crust, wheat thins, and hummus. (YUMMEH)

So...I put like...a bajillion things from my gallery into scraps. I'm trying to give my gallery a more finished look, putting things that never got finished or never will be finished into scraps.

The lineart that you DO see in my gallery is stuff that I am planning on coloring here in the next little while.

I doubt any of you will notice the huge amount of things I put into scraps anyway. *laughs*

Just letting you know that I am raising the bar in my own artwork. Huzzah.

Also, I have deleted some things as well.

So
Just got back from camping up at Iron Creek campground. We went to the HUGE Packwood Swapmeet. Any furs from Washington head up that way this weekend? Cuz I had a dream I met some furry guys up there.

Anyway. Bought some incense and a cute pink for my purse, and some earrings. It was a whole lot of fun. Tammy and a friend of ours drove up there in our own car n' stayed in this huge tent with my cousin, my two dogs, and some friends fo the family. A great time was had by all.

The scenery up there was BEAUTIFUL. There are some of the biggest oldest trees in washignton in that campground, and the river is lovely. I regret that I didn't take my camera.

But anyway i'm back now. I've got a commission to get done today or tomorrow. I have my cousin's birthday in Seattle tomorrow, but I dont know if we're going or not.
