Apology to an Artist
Posted 6 years agoI wanted to convey my sympathy and regret for my actions towards a particular artist during a bidding event: I cannot PM directly, as I have become blacklisted by them, however I wish to convey my sincerity regardless, even if my attempts are in vain.
During a depressive episode I was looking through auctions of a few artists I watch and noticed a very talented artist I watch (I will not name him/her) and placed multiple bids on a char or two of theirs: one received an AB, while another was pushed rather high past the SB; in a fit (looking back I can see I was just being childish) I made a big stink as to not wanting to bid further on the piece because it would only increase the price for them and I didn’t want to just make it more expensive for them. Later on the person later felt bad and wanted to withdrawal, but I declined saying they shouldn’t feel bad and that they should take the adopt they wanted.
I later received a note from the artist saying that I would be blacklisted for causing drama, and I apologize for doing so, within the bid comments and that I would not be someone they would wish to do business with if that would be how I would act and treat another.
I understand this may seem to “out” the artist, and this is not my intention, I simply wished to convey my sincereness and apologize the only way I am able to since I am unable to do so to the artist privately.
So, to the artist (if s/he sees this by any array of chances), I an TRULY, TRYLY sorry for causing issues and hope that, maybe some day, I will re-earn your trust to possibly do business with you. Until then, I will continue to appreciate the art you make, now quietly....
