New Place
Posted 15 years agoOk here's the lowdown on what's going on with me. My mother convinced my dad to not be so anal so they're giving me an opportunity. My grandpa recently had to go into assisted living, as such his place is empty and not able to be sold as of now. So they're letting me stay there on the conditions that I do 3 things....1.) at least prove to them I'm doing everything I can to get a job 2.) get back to school at least part time, and 3.) pay a small rent on the place each month and keep it nice. I've spent the last few moving here (hence my quiet) and will be getting back to all the arting as soon as I can get things settled and unpacked here.
Orgy pic and Anyone Need a Roomate?
Posted 15 years agoPosting this here from my gichigami account
Doing an orgy pic to try to create a solution to the eviction thing. For all dealings with the orgy pic, refer to this journal http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1816060/
Also, I am pondering the possibility that it might be smarter to move to another town. Thing is I would either need to find a place to room with someone or crash somewhere till I found a place and so on. So if anyone needs a roomate, has planned to room with someone, or has info, ect.......please let me know (preferably if in a town/area where rent is cheaper then 425 a month for a studio apartment)

Eviction!
Posted 15 years agoSure enough, I was just handed an eviction notice. I am officially panicking! It would take a lot of money to avoid it and my parents have already stated they will not take me in.
Big Sale
Posted 15 years agoOk, this is one part desperation, as I might get booted this week out of my apartment, and one part optimism that I did indeed get that job, either way doing a bit of a sale, the last sale I'm thinking I will need to do, to cover my rent. Anyway here's the break down; buy 2 of ANY pic type (sketch, line, full color) and get one free PLUS a free pony pic. The base prices for all pics again are; sketches and ponies $3, lineart $10, full color $20.
Well shoot
Posted 15 years agoWell it seems that I won't be getting any housing assistance this month as I thought, as both county and state are closed for the next two years (so many requests), as such commissions are again open as I need to cover rent via other means. Same prices as last time, but there is another new item in the mix for $3. Lately I've been on something of a fan obsession thanks to rubyluvcow over the new MLP series. As such I'll be doing OC's in that style if you wish for $3.
It Seems We're All Poor People Here
Posted 15 years agoJust heard a story on the news tonight, apparently I am not the only one in Milwaukee in dire straights, as Milwaukee was ranked 4th behind Detroit, Cleveland, and Buffalo in poverty in the US. On the one hand I guess it feels better knowing my circumstances are partially due to external influences, but it's also very alarming as hard a time as I'm having, I do love this town and it pains me to see it suffer as it is. What was really alarming though was that 1 in 4 children here apparently only get food through the school lunch systems.
New Status
Posted 15 years agoOk first things first, I got a new computer to work with courtesy of a friend on here who'll I'll keep anon unless he wants credit XD, only issue is it needs a keyboard. But another friend on here showed me a super cheap on to get online, so now just waiting on the shipping for that which was supposed to be around monday or so. As soon as that arrives and I can get SAI and my other files changed over to it I'll be back in business and hurrying to get everyone's stuff done and posted ^w^. (Speaking of which I recall in an older journal someone mentioned a site I can store files to transfer to another computer?)
As for rent, I got a lot of help from my childhood friend and his family. They got me at least 2 weeks worth of food, referred me to some excellent resources for next month as well as jobs, and he's offering to cover what I don't have by the end of the weekend (though he did ask I try to cover as much as possible through other means so if you can help still please let me know). Things certainly are looking a lot better then they were a few days ago.

Rent this Month
Posted 15 years agoHere's the breakdown, I'm 2 days late as of now. My landlord more or less has said to try to get most of it to him at the least and the rest asap, but I have to get him most. As of now it's a 425 rent plus late fee of 25 plus 40 owed still from last month, I do also owe for power and internet but not critical right now. So I'm at about 490 total owed, and at the moment I have just short of 40 (after groceries) with another 40 maybe from hinted at commissions. As such I'm just reminding commissions are open still, this month I'm putting preference on sketches still as they're easier (they're $3 still), but other commissions will be available ($15 for lineart $25 for full color). I know I'm sounding like a @#$ing broken record month to month but I need to be able to pay these things so as to keep a roof over my head and thus keep working at these pics for all of you, and it's hard otherwise until job hunting yields something.
But that aside I am a bit hopeful in the job hunt. I have promising applications in the works for Walgreens and Barnes and Nobles and am browsing around to see who else has them online so that I can keep working on pics while applying (rather then spending hours taking a bus somewhere in town to submit them). If anyone's got good suggestions on other places to apply, please let me know (might have applied at them already but maybe not)

Remember Kids
Posted 15 years agoSave and save often!
Otherwise you get what happened to me today.......had a good day going pic wise, 3 sketches very near ready to be posted was on a roll.........and bam the 90 degree temps and no AC gets the better of my comp, it overheats and crashes, and I forgot to save all 3! Then it crashes again an hour later when I was starting to get on a roll again!
Anyway the sketches are open again now as rent is again staring me in the face, but on the plus side, a friend on here is giving me a hand to try to nail a job at walgreens, which is right across the street from me and would be ideal. Wish me luck :3

$3 Sketches
Posted 15 years agoDrastic measure to cover my rent basically, selling sketches for $3 each. I will only be doing sketch commissions so as to save time in my already stretched schedule. I'm still at about $250 short on my rent so got a lot to do to cover it. Please help me keep my apartment so I can continue to draw for everyone. And thank you all for your patience. *hugs all*
Oatmeal!
Posted 15 years agoIs quite tasty with brown sugar and blueberries :P
But yeah in all seriousness, I do need to pull the fundraising routine this month again. I have still not found work and am short on rent by about $250. However I still am a bit behind on commissions and I really don't want to pile up more to bury me further. Thus right now I will only be taking sketches for new commissions for $10 each. I will also put it out there that if you would like to help me but don't want me to be burdened more, I will take donations (of any sort, to be paid back when I find work, to go toward future commissions after I am caught up, or anything else.) Sorry to bother everyone with this again, but thank you for anything you are able to offer and/or your patience. Thank you. (please note me with anything related)

that's in shorewood on the north side which saw the worst of it. People got swept into rivers up there while still in their cars.

Michael Bay blows up Milwaukee!
Posted 15 years agoOk, not really, but he is in town here.......shooting, of all things, Transformers 3. Apparently they have plans to use our famous 'transforming' art museum for the film (as well as some of the abandoned mills and factories still littering the menomonee river valley, probably going to blow them up). Filming began today, which means shia labouff and the rest of the gang were all at the lakeshore. They did have try outs for extras last week, regrettably it was for a demographic I didn't quite fit in (or rather didn't have the proper attire for as had to try out looking the part). Still, the news coverage of this whole thing has been rather entertaining, especially since I think someone with the news is an old school cartoon fan as they keep tossing in a bunch of visual reference gags covering the story.
Me Being Quiet
Posted 15 years agoJust an update everyone, still alive but been occupied completely between job hunting and preparations for my sister's wedding this weekend. Things should start to quiet down as soon as that's over.
I am now 27!

Birthday Proximity Warning!
Posted 15 years agoYes, I am mildly excited right now as my birthday is coming up.....Tuesday June 1st to be precise :3. You know what that means right? CAKE FOR ALL!!!!
End of an Era
Posted 15 years agoTonight the local PBS station aired the final episode of their long running political discussion, Bill Moyer's Journal. For those who aren't political or don't pay much attention to PBS, Bill Moyers is one of the few remaining truly independent journalists in broadcast news who, while having an obvious liberal bias, was not afraid to stick it to the left in politics when they played dirty or to point out hypocrisy. What truly set him apart though was he didn't just blatantly toss out opinions and seek to aggravate solely for ratings, he actually researched the topics, provided documents and clear fact to support what he would argue, and never tried to hide his bias. He also would invite guests from both sides of the table and rather then try to argue with or attack any he disagreed with, he'd listen to them and ask relevant and inciteful questions when appropriate. Even when being attacked by those wanting to discredit him, like Bill O'Reilly, he remained cool and respectful. His is a breed that will be missed in broadcast news, and I do wish him a long and happy retirement.
Earth Day
Posted 15 years agoToday is Earth Day, one of few holidays out there that asks something from us rather then us asking something from it. Occasionally controversial, lampooned severely by shows like South Park, and yes having a founder who was convicted of murder; still it does have a good message, even if you don't buy into global warming, keeping ANWR drill free, or any of those issues that roll across the headlines every other day or so. You don't need to go out of your way to anything drastic, expensive, or time consuming. Do something small and simple, something even the least eco conscious person would think good. Pick up a piece of trash on the curb, even that is something.
Testing Something Out
Posted 15 years agoReached a determination the other day, I HAVE to get stuff sold right now (until that tax return commeth), but nothing gets sold unless I'm getting crap done, and this vent fan/overheating situation rather limits that. So given that the warranty on this thing is already gone I think, I decided to do this rather elaborate setup to prevent the computer from overheating while I draw stuff. Basically did some 'surgery' on the broken fan so it can do just enough to keep going and have the whole thing practically sitting on top of a desk fan. It's uncomfortable to work with but it seems so far to be doing the job. Testing it out today with a personal pic I won't panic if I lose work on in the event of an overclock and shut down, if it works I'll be getting back to commissions tomorrow, though it'll be at a slow rate.
Bah!
Posted 15 years agoPassed out last night thus making my 'all nighter' a failure XO. Plus today will be limited with what I get done given my family is chosing to do easter today. Changing the deal being offered right now a bit given I'm getting desperate now. All full colors will now be only $10 and if you want to get more then one chibi it will be $1 off all extras. Please help me cover rent for this month (thankfully I won't have to do this next month because of the tax return which means I can spend all the month catching up on stuff)
Insanity Over
Posted 15 years agoNow that april fools is over time to get back to business. Should have a good number of pics up today, have to get a lot done, it's rent time again and I'm only about 170/425 toward it. Thus I'm pulling an all nighter like last month to get not just chibis done but a bulk of the other pics as well. I do hope to god I find a job this month I'm getting quite tired of having to do these desperation acts at the end of each month. Anyway the prices will be the same as last month, $3 for chibis, $5 for sketches, $10 for an FA profile/ID pic, $15 for any other full color. Also any full color comes with a free chibi. Please everyone, any help would be appreciated, if I don't keep a roof over my head I can't do pics so commissions don't get done and no more posts of arts :(
Food Inc.

Outlines a documentary that if you haven't seen it yet you probably should. You'll probably wonder if that big mac is worth it for lunch. More then likely it's got cow poo in it because the cow it comes from spent his life knee deep in it and was caked in it when killed.
Oh and if you live in these states; Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Texas; it's illegal to say anything bad about the food companies and their products. (they went as far as sueing Oprah based on the issue)
For information on the food libel laws mentioned in it refer to this wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_libel
