Five Nights at Furbraska Anime Nebraskon Room Party!!

Five Nights at Furbraska!!
The dates will take place on October 31st and November 1st the first two nights of AnimeNebraskon at the Ramada in Omaha, NE, on 72nd and Grover.
Should you wish to attend the con that day, the price is $25 for Friday, and $35 for Saturday, that is
IF you choose to attend the events, panels, and dealers den of the con. If you just want to attend the
room party, it's FREE. Because there will be drinks offered you will be required to show your ID.
The Room party starts from 6:00pm-2:00am both nights.
We will be having a ticket raffle as well, so you can get a chance to win some cool furry swag!!
In order to ensure you have an awesome time, we'll be needing your help to make this a success.

aokichan Aoki here. I've recently taken the helm of the NE Furs page which is also associated with the Furrbraska group on FB of which you can find here.

I'm pleased to announce there will be more current updates of activities and events and also on a frequent basis promotional spots for local artists, craft makers, fursuit creators, musicians and more.
We've grown considerably in the past few years and are welcoming to all, our FB Group currently has 300+ members and hopefully that will continue to grow. I feel that a presence here in important to our local community and the furry community at large. There will be updates of events for the Omaha and Lincoln area both furry related and other significant cons about the area.

This Saturday...

It's at Maplewood Lanes again, so if you don't know where that's at, google it, or somebody who knows :3 It starts at 8pm and goes till they close the place down. This month it doesn't look like we'll be getting the special room thing due to remodeling going on, so instead they gave us extra lanes! So bring your friends, or whoever likes bowling with us crazy fur people.
Also, if it's possible, I would like it if whoever is taking pictures could send some to me so I can post them, as I don't always take the best pictures. So just send me a note or something. Thanks!

General | Posted 12 years agoSo, this might be really last minute notice for those of you not on the facebook page, but there is laser tag that will be happening on the 20th (tomorrow!) at the Family Fun Center in Omaha at 1pm. I will not be there as I will be working! :'( This is the only posted event for the rest of April as far as I can tell. Sorry, I'm behind in keeping you guys updated. So, almost 15% of facebook members responded, and almost 18% of FA members responded. This means that this is nowhere close to being 100% accurate, but it will help give a general idea of where people are.

A census of sorts
General | Posted 12 years agoThis is something I've been wanting to do for a while now. This group has become quite large, and spread out. It would be nice to have a representation of where various furs are located. I know something like this was done a couple years ago, but the group has grown so much since then. Not only will this be an interesting bit of information, but I feel it will be beneficial in letting furs know if there are any more of their kind in their areas. The majority of the group is situated in the Omaha and Lincoln areas, but I know there are those of you further west and even in different states.
So this is what I would like to have happen. Everyone who feels up to it, please post your location in this journal. I know a lot of you have put it on the front page, but this way it will be more organized. All I'm looking for is the city/town you live in or are close to. Preferably the city part on the address of where you live. i.e. I live in the middle of nowhere, but my address says Lincoln. If you are uncomfortable with stating you location please note me. No names will be attached to locations in the results. It'll be something like 25 out of 100 furs in Furbraska live in Lincoln.
Also if you wish to include various bits of information relating to furry, please do! Information being: species, age, if you have a fursuit, stuff like that. Thats not the focus, but if enough people submit that kind of info, I'll put together something like, 10% of those who responded identify as being this species. Bowling meet March 9th
General | Posted 13 years agoYup, it's at Maplewood Lanes again. The Facebook event says it starts at 8, but if we're doing the same thing as last time, that means that we'll be hanging out, meeting people and talking, until 9:30 when the bowling starts. So come at 8! That way we can talk and stuff :D Last time we had a party room to set all of our stuff in, so you don't have to worry about leaving your totes and stuff laying around the alley. BUT, from what I understand, they do not let you wear feet paws while bowling :'( That doesn't mean you can't walk around in them though!
Make sure to bring $15 for entry fee. This gets you unlimited bowling, shoes, and 5 lanes to choose from! This event goes until the place closes and I'm assuming there will be some hanging out afterwords as the Facebook event also says it goes until 4.

Sorry for getting your hopes up! I'm just trying to keep everyone as updated as possible on what's going on.

General | Posted 13 years agoSo I know it's slightly short notice, but I think they just finalized the dates and times earlier today, but there is a bowling meet this Saturday in Papillion at 8 PM. The actual location is still being determined, but it sounds like it'll either be Wildcat lanes or some other alley.
Also they're planning on another meet on the 16th for those who can't make it to this one. Will update on the locations as soon as I know.
Also also, this Sunday will be a second meeting on the envisioned Furbraskon! The meeting is 18+ for now and will be held at Lakeside Mobile Homes 3510 N. 9th Street, Carter Lake, Iowa 51510 and it starts at 6 PM.
Quick info: Furbraskon is the furry con set to take place somewhere in Omaha sometime in spring 2014. If you have input, be at the meeting! It sounded like they were going to try to get Skype going for those on the way opposite side of the state, or for those who just can't make the drive for whatever reason. Event - Bonfire meet!

Just in case you guys don't read comments on journals, there actually is an event coming up REALLY SOON that is being hosted by one of the people on the website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Furbraska/ . It's actually going to be the 18th of May, THIS FRIDAY!The event in question is a bonfire and potluck. So far it looks like there'll be about 20-30 people going, and it seems like they're going to have a decent amount of food. Hamburgers and/or hotdogs are going to be provided by the host, kebabs, brownies, and drinks are being provided by some of the guests already. I haven't seen other foods mentioned, but that's still quite a bit. The event starts at 4, and the bonfire is going to be lit some time around 6:30. (I hope there's s'mores. :P)
You'll need to join up and give them a heads up that you'll be coming, but it looks like it's going to be quite the number of people going to it. I may try to make an appearance myself later on in the day around 6ish.
Looks like a pretty good time! 8D

mkcompy here, and quite surprised that we're up to 50 people watching us. Wow. 50 furs in Nebraska? Amazing! Here I was thinking there'd be like... 5 when I first started this up. Thanks to all the people watching us, even if we don't do much. XD
I /might/ try to set up some sort of meet here in Omaha over the summer. Key word there is might. I'm a godawful event coordinator and terrible slacker, so... blargh. @n@ If anyone else would like to coordinate some sort of event, I'd be happy to let them take the keys to
nebraska_furs and post on it. (I'm kinda thinking maybe bowling or a movie or something some time this summer.)
This isn't really a furry event, but, it is an event, and one that I find enjoyable to go to, having gone to all but two of them. I wrote about it before, didn't really see any "obvious furries" in the crowds. x3
Doctor San Guinary's Creature Feature Live
This event is hosted at the 20 Grand (144th and Maple) on the last Saturday of every month.
This month is on the 26th, and we'll be showing the old Boris Karlof Frankenstein.
Cost of admission is $9 at the door, cash only (there is an ATM in the lobby). Admission price goes to donations to various charities and keeping the show running.
