RMFC
Posted 12 years agoThe con is just a couple days off now. I feel like a kid looking forward to Xmas. Only in this case Xmas lasts three days and the presents are hugs. Best presents ever! ^^
I'll also be helping host the game room and will be bringing several board games, including a Dr Who themed Yahtzee game and Nightmare, the video-board game. And I'll be scampering around as Nod when not in the game room or doing other stuff. Who else is gonna be there?

Rare Dream
Posted 12 years agoI rarely dream of any of my former existences but this was a bit of that. Started getting weird toward the end but that was probably cause the alarm clock was waking me up.
I dreamed I woke in Rescue Ranger HQ but Chip and Dale were gone. I remembered Dale had an appointment to see a doctor but I didn't think he would've gone without me. Gadget wasn't there either but Monty and I knew where she was, off visiting family or something. I don't quite remember. So Monty, Zipper and I set off to go find Chip and Dale. Went outside to find the sky was getting dark and stormy looking. The wind was picking up as Monty flew the Rangerplane into town. Then I heard Spot barking in the distance, the dog I had when I was a kid in THIS reality. I remember flying over some kids playing basketball, then leaning forward to tell Monty: "Its not like Ky and Frynge to leave without at least leaving a note bout why they had to take off early." Then I realized what I said: Ky and Frynge, the names of my roommates, instead of Chip and Dale. Then my alarm clock went off.

Fursuit!
Posted 12 years agoIts official! I'll have a partial fursuit for RMFC. Commisioned
KishoWolf to make Nod a reality for me. Thought about getting a full suit but its a bit more pricey, I'd have to have myself covered in duct tape from head to toe then cut it all off and send the outline off for measurements, and it would be much hotter. RMFC will be in August, I'll prolly be overheated enough in a partial. Maybe in a couple years I'll go for a full suit, we'll see =^.^=

If Your Addiction Had a Physical Form...
Posted 12 years ago...what would it look like? It doesn't have to be a negative or unhealthy addiction, though some suggest any kind of addiction is unhealthy.
In a flash I caught of glimpse of mine after.. ahem.. just finishing a scene on Tapestries.
It has pasty white skin and some black hair atop its head. It was hanging from a ceiling, presumably of its own accord, I couldn't see how it was suspended. Maybe it was dangling there against its will for it was thrashing and writhing, as if trying to get free. Which makes sense; as with any addiction I must keep it under control. It had three fingers on each hand, several dark slits on its face that I presume were eyes, a large gaping dark mouth, and no nose.
That is my addiction's physical form.

Bizzare Dream
Posted 12 years agoSo I had a bizarre dream last night. I was driving home to the old place in WV from somewhere, I don't know where I had been. The dream started with me driving my old subaru legacy. I rounded a curve and saw water crossing the road. This is where the dream started to get weird. I decided to go around the water by driving uphill and up a tree that was leaning against the bank, creating a sort of natural ramp. How the car was supposed to drive up a tree, I don't know. About halfway up the tree began to straighten up, so I found myself vertical... then it leaned back the other way so I was upside down. Realizing I was stuck, the car somehow suspended from the tree and upside down a few feet above the ground, I got out and started to walk home. Then I remembered I left the windows rolled down, so I went back to the car and rolled them up.. while the car was still stuck hanging upside down from this tree by its tires. I finished walking home and found the house was flooded ankle deep with muddy water, except for my room. For some reason the water hadn't got in there. My sister Rita Proctor and her husband were in my room, and left when I came in. I went to my computer and got online to see how extensive the flooding was and what all places were affected by it when I had the feeling I was being watched. I looked over my shoulder and saw that the flood water was beginning to creep toward my doorway and ahead of it were several huge spiders, about the size of dinner plates. They were black with brown striping and they were moving ahead of the flood water, getting away from it and coming into my room. Thankfully, that's when I woke up. Not sure if the dream meant anything but all the water I saw in it was muddy, and Mom always said it was a bad sign to dream of muddy water. Hopefully it was just a dream ^.^

Diablo III Revisited
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm playing Diablo III again with my roommate since he just picked the game up. I got it when it first came out and was done with it in like, two weeks.
I dunno what it is with games these days. Like all the hype and fuss that was made over Diablo 3. It was in production for YEARS... the gameplay clips and trailers were awesome looking. And while the gameplay is still decent the game itself is such a memory hog. Have to have a top of the line computer to play it. And they brought way too much WoW mechanics into it with the disenchanting of magic items for dust and "teeth". How do you get Fallen teeth from pulverizing a sword?
Not to mention that the game itself is short. Can finish it on normal difficulty over the course of a weekend, three days tops.
And what about those serious roleplayers who like to keep their characters separate from one another? Not happening. You have a "collective stash" that all of your characters have access to. So there is no real sense of challenge when you start a new character since you have full access to all the gold, gems, magic dust, potions, etc that your previous characters had.
All that said, I do enjoy playing the game with friends. Just not something I can go play again and again like I still can with Diablo II.

Happy Solstice Xmas End of the World
Posted 12 years agoTomorrow is the winter solstice and the day the world is to end according to conspiracy theorists. Wonder what some of these people are going to do when the 21st comes and goes with nothing happening. And there they have 10 years worth of protein drinks, thousands of dollars worth of guns and ammo, and several years' worth of vitamins squirreled away in their basements.
First Con!
Posted 13 years agoYesterday was the first day of the first fur con I've ever been to. Rocky Mountain Fur Con (RMFC) in Denver, CO. David Hopkins is the guest of honor and I met him yesterday. I met David Hopkins, author of Jack. I was like "Wow.. you're David Hopkins!" He looked at my name tag and was like "Wow... you're Nod!" XD I chatted with him for a bit and bought a comic, then wandered around the con a while, hugging fur-suiters ^_^
Later I set up several board games in the game room. Key to the Kingdom, Bonkers, Yipes! and a couple others. Other folks brought Magic: The Gathering decks and some D&D style board games. Plus there were two Wiis set up on projector screens and Smash Brothers tournament was held.
Today will be my second day of the con. No game room tonight unfortunately, but that will just give me the chance to look around more and see what else there is to see. Game room returns tomorrow night.

Wal-Mouse
Posted 13 years agoYay, I'm working again! Just got in not long ago from my second day on the job at the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in nearby Thornton. The store won't open till August 15th so what we're doing now is getting it ready. All the shelving was in place by the time I started work. The people already hired before me worked their tails off building the shelving units from scratch. Yesterday we were putting price tags on the shelves as designated by specific maps made for each unit. Today we started stocking the shelves dried goods, household products, etc. Tomorrow we're likely to be unloading trucks containing more of the same. The people I work with are very friendly and know how to work as a team. All the managers and supervisors are friendly and prompt to answer any questions or concerns. The meetings we all have in the morning and after lunch are fun. Each supervisor gets to chime in about things that need to be done here or there in the store and compliment us on how well we're working. We are so far "one truck ahead" on the stocking. Things that were not expected to have been unpacked and put on the shelves by now, HAVE been unpacked and put where they belong. If we can keep this pace up we'll have no worries about falling behind before opening day, August 15th.
Past couple of days have been fun. I am very tired... and I am very, very happy ^_^

Back from the Interview
Posted 13 years agoI applied online at Walmart's website over the weekend. Got a call yesterday to come in for an interview today. They're hiring for a new Walmart Neighborhood Market opening nearby in August. Basically it will be a grocery store with the Walmart name on it. I did the interview and the guy told me that normally they would look over the information I gave them and then call me back for a second interview at a later date. But he said he might could get my second interview done today if I wanted to wait a little while. I agreed and sat in the outer office for a bit, then a second guy came to get me for the other interview. After another round of questions he said he would let me know something by the end of the week. I asked if they call folks back to let them know if they something if they are hiring them or not. He said they normally only call people back if they intend to hire them. Then he said "But don't worry. You'll be hearing from us." ^_^
Interview Tomorrow
Posted 13 years agoGoing in for a job interview at a new Walmart Neighborhood Market opening in the area later this summer. I know a lot of people talk crap about Walmart but I've always liked the company myself. I think a lot of people who dislike Walmart just dislike big business in general. I'm already hearing people worried about big business breaking into space exploration. I say let businesses explore space. They can't do any worse than NASA has. Not that it's NASA's fault that we haven't people out of Earth orbit since the 70s. That is the fault of one administration after another failing to put any priority in space exploration. Administrations that the people voted into office.
Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. Here's hoping I can go to work for one of those "evil big business companies that import everything from China and are the root of all problems in the USA" ;p

Mouseified
Posted 13 years agoIts official. Actually, its been official for almost a month but I'm just now getting around to posting about it.
I'm a mouse again.
I never was much of a lion to begin with and this last move from the old apartment to the new one drove out whatever leonine there was left in me. That and I watched several episodes of Capitol Critters again. I was very much a mouse back in the day when that show first aired. Seeing it again brought back so many memories.
I feel much more comfortable with myself now. Despite there being lots of different types of lion guys, lions are often stereotyped as muscular, strong, dominant and toppish. I am none of those things; never have been never will be. I tried to play it off as being a more intelligent and less brutish lion. Scar (minus the evil) from TLK and Prince John (again, minus the evil) from Disney's Robin Hood movie were my role models. But even they could beat the crap out of me in a fair fight xD
While there are strong, badass mice they seem to be as few and far between as wimpy, nerdy lions. So being a mouse just suits me better all the way around.
I'll take several dozen steps down on the food chain if it means I can be comfortable with who I am ^^;

Sometimes I miss...
Posted 13 years ago...working at Wendy's. I know, most people think that working in any fast food place is scraping the bottom of the employment barrel. But its just like any other job with its good days and bad ones. What I miss the most is the camaraderie that I developed with my co-workers. When we were busy we were busy and focused on our work. But when the rush let up and we could relax a little while still doing other tasks, we could talk and joke around.
I'll never forget the time one of my co-workers had a problem with her shoes. They were wore out to the point she had holes in them, so her feet were getting wet whenever she mopped the floor. Her solution? She put plastic gloves on over her shoes. It was one of the silliest things I've ever seen: this girl giggling like mad while mopping the floor, watching her feet. The fingers of the gloves were flopping out ahead of her with each step XD
This same girl was also a bit of a klutz, but only in ways that involved loud noises. Almost every day she would accidentally drop a stainless steel container onto the cement floor. Or she would brush against the hangers were the metal lids to pots were stored, causing one or more of the lids to go crashing to the floor. Was never a dull moment with her around.

Notice to vacate? Wtf?
Posted 13 years agoSo I walked to McDonald's today and when I got back there was a notice on the door saying we had till May 31st to vacate the premises. We took the notice to the office and asked them what was going on. I thought some other tenant hadn't been paying their rent and there had been a mix up. Nope. All we were told was that corporate management had decided not to renew our lease. We asked why and they said they did not have to give us that information. So we're being basically kicked out for no reason. The good news is that we already found another apartment complex that has a two bedroom apartment that is only a little more expensive than the price we're paying for this dinky one bedroom unit. We're likely to go for it. Moving again is going to be a pain though >.<
That's absurd!
Posted 13 years agoEinstein was such a genius. Not only in terms of all his discoveries and leaps he made in science but also in his philosophy:
"If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.”
SO many of my ideas and beliefs would be considered absurd by the general public...

Posted 13 years agoHire Wrong
Posted 13 years agoSo my roommate landed a job with Alpine Access: a company that lets people work from home taking tech support calls and such as if they were working in a call center. Alpine uses Hire Right, a separate agency, to screen their applicants checking their background, previous employment, etc. Hire Right gave my roommate the thumbs up and he started training. A few days into training Hire Right sent him an email saying that they were wrong and they had NO proof of his employment history. They gave him 24 hours to get written statements from previous employers and fax the statements to them. Some of those employers had gone out of business, others had been bought out, etc. It was all or nothing: he had to have proof of employment of all the jobs he had over the past seven years. Since he didn't have that- who DOES keep paycheck stubs and W2s from more than a few years back?- Alpine terminated his employment with them. What. The. Hell. A few others were in the same situation with Hire Right and also lost their jobs with Alpine, and several others outright quit the training course after seeing how their fellow trainees were treated. This is ridiculous. Roomie is considering legal action and I don't blame him.

Posted 13 years agoStarbucks
Posted 13 years agoDid my usual Monday ritual today: walked to McD's for dinner then across the street to the Starbucks nearby. Its freaking expensive but just once a week isn't that bad. I wouldn't want to get coffee from Starbucks every day even if I could afford it. Then instead of it giving me a rush of energy it would just get to where I HAD to have it in order to fully wake up. Such is the way with any addiction I suppose. It starts out as something that makes you feel wonderful but after you've had it long enough that great feeling is gone and you have to have it just to feel normal.
The name Starbucks is kind of amusing, too. Perhaps in some other reality where its all anthros, Starbucks is a herbivore/prey species hang out where most of the employees are bucks of one species or another. Male deer, reindeer, perhaps a few rabbits. Each having to wear a uniform shirt with a huge star on the front XD
