About Commissions/Slave Streams
Posted 2 months agoI apologise for being semi in-active/sporadic on being here. It might not look like it but I have been working... alot, thanks to my Ko-Fi supporters and the streams I'vebeenbadaboutposting <3 I've not really felt up to uploading much unless I happen to remember one day, and even then it's not everything I've made.
But yeah, the point of this journal:
After months of having difficulty completing custom commissions (like ref sheets/renders) in good time and constantly teetering on burnout (on top of trying to deal with RL issues), I direly need some sort of reprieve for a bit. I'm sure most of my clients have noticed the dramatic dip in the time it's been taking to get custom work done, and it's been depressing me even though everyone has been immensely understanding, and I'm so grateful for that. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy doing them but I feel a mental block sucking the joy out of them right now. I only have one left to finish currently, and hopefully I'll feel the weight off truly for a lil bit before I go back in and open up again.
Slave sessions have been quite fun on the other hand, knowing I just work within the date/hours given to me, and most of them I've been able to turn off my brain and just doodle. I feel like I'm working at a much more reasonable rate financially too, and it's been very gratifying to see when clients get the slave pieces, and know that they laugh and have a good time with what I do. Overall, just... much more satisfying.
So, for the time being Slave Streams are the only thing I'm gonna be offering openly.
I realise I've been a bit quiet about posting my availability for these since the days vary by week, so I'm gonna try to be more active on that front.

Hope everyone's... coping okay in the meantime. Trying to keep my own head up away from the sludge of pessimism, being it's gonna be my birthday on the 21st so, I wanna be silly where I can.

Exhausted. What do I do?
Posted 3 months agoBetween all this Internet upheaval, worry for the future of my livelihood and now, technical issues on my end, I'm finding it very hard to want to pick up the pen and draw.
I'm trying, but it seems like we're just fighting on every corner to make progress. Fuck even trying to stream last night didn't work because now my iPad and PC refuse to recognise each other even though I've used it in the past no issue and have not changed anything).
I was meant to open commissions either last week or this week but... I'm struggling with getting over the mental blockade. With the internet issues a VPN is a fix, but I am so concerned it's short term (Big Bro doesn't like when its laws are circumvented), and, FA is probabky going to be blocked eventually. I have still heard nothing on my ticket asking about what happens with their UK users.
Do I stick to just SFW? (GOOD LUCK, we all know sex sells).
Do I try the traditional media route? (I'm waiting to see about a laminator to use for badges cos that was something I wanna get into).
Just felt like crying the last few days, and on top of this all I'm now sick.
I'm just gonna wallow in defeat for a while...

From the 25th July, new regulation will come into play for the UK's citizens to give data companies forms of ID (bank details, passport, face recognition tech), to gain access to adult-oriented websites.

As of right now, we don't know if FA will be blocked or if we will need to verify our identities before continued use. I have sent a ticket through FA and I'm yet to get a response.
These changes for British citizens are a disaster begging to be released - we don't know if they are entirely safe, if they delete our information or just sell them on to the next company to leech off of. Such a huge gambit on security especially when we've already seen a serious number of breaches, leaks and hacks in the past 5 years alone.
And you know. It's not like our internet and mobile data comes PRE-ENABLED with parental filters.
And don't let the articles fool you by the way - it's not just gonna be for porn sites. It's gonna be for anything *remotely* distasteful. Reddit is one of those sites, as is BlueSky.

This doesn't just affect those visiting adult sites, clearly. There's room for blackmail, privacy breaches, and a blow to the communities of the internet. Some smaller sites have already started shutting down since the implementation of this bill, because they cannot afford to comply the way the Act wants them to. Obviously for people working in the adult fields this is a blow to their income, their traffic, their livelihood. I am one such person and don't know where I stand right now. I don't want to give up more info than I have to, I shouldn't need to.

You can still help with with overcoming the current censorship issue with payment processors. Visa and Mastercard are spearheading censorship that dictates what you buy, with guidance by groups like Collective Shout (itch.io and Steam have had their adult games shadowbanned). Fictional content is being interfered with and stifled.

Posted 5 months agoDealt with an unexpected family emergency for most of this week, that pulled us away from home and so I couldn't work very much.
We came home today but now we're due to be with my folks for a little bit in the coming days. I can take projects with me but again... very limited.. (mostly in part to having *nowhere* physically comfortable to work but I don't see my guys very much so I probably won't want to dwell on it too much anyway. Plus I could do with a mental break).
God I'm so tired! But hoping I'll be a bit more refreshed when I come home.

I'm finally feeling back in my stride again overall. Past the tooth saga, doing more exercises/outings for iPad work, and taking some supplements, I've been feeling better than I have in a whiiiiiiiiile.
My list is still kinda hectic but I made a breakthrough with one particular project and despite it not being completed yet I already feel a weight off! So here's hoping May will be decently productive in pushing through everything! :D

TOOTH OUT + Sketchbook Auction?
Posted 7 months agoFIRST THING THIS MORNING I got the extraction done. I was gonna get sedation but between the hideous price jump and overall inconvenience it would cause, I opted for local anasthetic since it was similar to root canal. Still struggled through the injection phase, but the removal was REALLY quick. No joke I was pretty shocked at the efficiency of my dentist <3 AND it ended up being even cheaper than the initial price which is honestly a relief.
The good news is after the numbing wore off I actually wasn't in too much pain or discomfort. I was told the extraction was made easier with the tooth being above the gumline and coming out diagonally, even with the curled tips. So... here's hoping recovery is fast so long as I keep to the proper aftercare! TOOTH SAGA OVER (I hope).
With this, I'm not gonna pressure myself too hard with working right now. But with the clocks gone forward, with more sunshine and the nicer, brighter weather coming in, my mood has definitely improved so by the time I'm ready to roll I should be filled with even more energy to bounce back and get back to drawing <3 The last few months have been quite stressful but things are being resolved bit by bit and I'm nearing the end of that period I think. I hope--
ANYWAYS onto the second thing in the title!
Would there be any interest if I offered a sketchbook auction? It'd probably have a minimum bid of £500 since there'd be about 50 pages worth of work with the sketchbook I'd use, plus art supply use etc. A5 sized, filled with sketches or more polished/coloured/experimental works, would like to keep a healthy variety. It'd probably be most fun if you have an array of OCs for me to work with too.
It'd be shipped as well of course!! And I'd be happy to work out a payment plan. I just wanna gauge interest, it's been on my mind for a little while and you can almost consider it a lil bucket list thing <3 I've been trickling back into traditional art and with taking my work out to coffee shops/trying to rework my desk to be more comfy, I'm so eager to do more!
Maybe in the future I can offer things like badges, but til then I want to go slow and enjoy the process in my own way, with my own terms. <3

Molar Hell
Posted 7 months agoI've been dealing with a pretty cavitied/wonky/overall nasty molar coming in the last few months (no thanks to my dentists being poor at getting stuff started/dithering about WHO wants to do the extraction...) and it finally came to a head on Saturday night. Could not sleep after several attempts, and I could feel the pain ramp up in real time. Saltwater swishing started to do nothing, ibuprofen did nothing, cleaning the area did nothing. I cried so much I nearly screamed from the pain, so we had to call out for help and get an emergency booking. Quickly assessed I had a nerve infection and got given antibiotics, and as of another appointment yesterday I have a date for this god foresaken tooth to be taken out at the end of the month.
(Speaking of yesterday I also had a hand therapy appointment and as far as my nurse was concerned I'm doing what I can to keep on top of the aches in my wrists, so that's something positive.)
I'm not in a great place right now, I'm not really wanting to eat and feel just kinda hazey/like I want to sleep most of the time. Drawing's not even really been a thought the last couple of days, but I will be trying to get my Ko-Fi rewards done before anything else. I am sorry for the lack of progress that clients will be waiting on... The present is a particularly stressful period as it is and this is just kinda pushing me over the edge a little.

Need help upgrading from iPad! etc

The other day I managed to drop my iPad while it was charging, and it landed portside down (with the cable inside). Was a bit of a scare and while I can't use the old cable (RIP gift ;-;), it IS just about charging okay still.
Buuuuut the product is reaching end of life for me. Had it 5 years from refurbished, and it still does the basic sketching/lines on Medibang that I need it to, but the processor is reaaaaaaaaally starting to dislike me doing a huge lot of art. The program will grey out when I zoom in, there's been corruption issues with pen strokes, etc. So it's safe to say the iPad is on its last legs regarding art production.
So... can anyone recommend an Apple upgrade from iPad Air 3rd gen for art? Don't need brand new, but I plan to use Procreate and make bigger work so I'd love to have something with more power/processing/storage (have 64GB right now so even 128GB would be a step up). I LOVE being able to take my work with me wherever I go, and as much as I hate the Apple ecosystem, I won't deny how useful this has been. This is purely for art and the occasional mindless free game (so I don't need it 'unlocked' etc). XD

PRICE CHANGES (from Oct) + Ko-Fi
Posted a year agoAs you might know from my previous journals, I've been needing to look at changing up some things to give my hand an easier time with art. It's basically been hammered home into me that I AM overworking (EVERYONE has basically been saying it to me now), and I direly need to cut back on some of what I do in order to keep doing it!
...Weird way to say it but basically, do the thing I love in moderation...
Unfortunately this has also come with the need to increase my commission prices. I'd been looking at how to do this for a while, and realised that some of the pricing didn't line up across the menu of work I offered. I understand it might be a bit of a jump in some places, minimal in others, but I've tried to balance it out as best I can and reduced the overworking in areas that I shouldn't.
My overall quality has definitely increased over the past year, but I also recognise that with QUANTITY of work, it has floundered under stress. This price increase will help me to be more consistent with the standard of the work I always intend to give my clients and supporters.
(and before anyone says it - I do understand that currency conversion to GBP £££ is a bitch, believe me...)
So this being said... My Price Sheets will be updated in October!
PLEASE NOTE! If we have previously discussed a price for a commission before this change, I am very happy to continue at that price!
Notable Changes:
- Full-renders will NOT come standard with a background. It will be a textured/gradient background. Obviously environmental work can be added at additional cost.
- Sketchy-Flats will now come with the opportunity to use previously commissioned sketches! These will have the OLD pricing deducted from the cost of the SF upgrade.
Regarding Ko-fi:
I have now LIMITED the number of higher-tier slots (MEGA MOO/SUPER MEGA LARGE MOO tiers, which give sketches/sketchy-flat rewards every month). No price changes have been made there at this time.
I also now only do ONE personal project a month. This is about as much as I can cut back on the platform comfortably without shafting my supporters, and it means I can continue to be sponsored for something every month.

Wrist/Comms Update
Posted a year agoI forgot to update here but my wrist is a lot better!
It was tendonitis, and a doctor's visit gave me Naproxen/anti-inflammatories rather than a steroid injection. With my age he felt it wasn't worth the risk of the tendon snapping.
I also managed to 'unpop' the tendon about halfway through my medication, and it definitely gave some relief! Now I have minimal pain/aches, so I still need to be careful about how much I work in the day.
As a result work's been slow this month - more than I'd like. I'm focusing my MOO member rewards first before I get to commmissions, which are almost done.

Wrist Issues
Posted a year agoWell, while not officially diagnosed, it looks like I have an RSI on my wrist, or tendonitis, or worst case is carpal tunnel. Not got the tingles yet, however I must be careful - it's possibly getting worse. I doubt the doctor can do much except tell me to rest.
I've got gels, I've got ibuprofen, I have bracers for my sleep, and hand exercisers. But what I need at the moment is something to do that DOESN'T involve my hand. And when that involves drawing, writing, playing vidya and cooking... well, you can see my conundrum. I get bored just watching stuff, I always need to be fidgetting, doing something to be productive...
It's hard letting it heal when I know I have work ahead of me that won't be completed on its own or by anyone else. And admittedly I think part of this is stress-related. I love the direction I've gone with the Ko-Fi, it guarantees me work every month, and the commissions on top have been nice when I can get to them, but I am worried that all this work is exactly WHY my wrist has decided to become an issue, as the Ko-Fi stuff resets monthly. Every month I have at least two sketchy flats projects to do as well as the reward tiers, which is at 6 sketches and 4 sketchy flats as of now. And then on top of THAT comes the commission work, as well as if the higher tier folks want their reward to have extra features.
The only other thing that might be contributing is the ergonomics (or lack thereof) of my desk area. I bought a new chair a couple of months ago but I'm not sure how much it's helped. Also trying to be conscious of how I use my keyboard, keeping it flat, and using mouse buttons for things whenever possible when it's come to gaming, since I have a habit of tucking my thumb under my palm to reach CTRL and SHFT buttons... as I did just now haha!
But yeah, this is like the second... third flareup maybe since I started drawing my other projects on top of commission stuff?
I'm at a bit of a crossroads.
I know if I continue on like this I won't be able to draw anymore. It terrifies me. It would suck my soul right out.
But I can't NOT draw at the same time... commissions I can get away with letting those take over a month to do if I MUST. What do I do for a job otherwise that doesn't involve my hands or heavy lifting?
But yeah... if progress slows to a crawl, I am very sorry. But I must do what I can to take care of myself. Even typing this out feels uncomfortable on my hand. The warning signs must be listened to...

Am/Was Sick, Slight Delay
Posted a year agoI completely forgot to update here but in the transition of coming home from the family visit, my ass went down with Covid. Nothing like sleeping in til 4pm (as I have literally done just now ;-;). Juuuust starting to get my sense of smell and taste back but there's still been some instances of headyness/dizzy spells so I'm trying not to push too hard and rest (never NOT in work mode, me!). Thankfully the BF is reinforcing giving my body a break.
However I'm trying to get back on track and I have been trickling in progress slowly! I apologise for the wait on those who are waiting on me to start their slots/pay. I'm very grateful for your patience and you're always welcome to poke me for an update! <3 ;-; I just wanna stabilise everything a lil bit before I fully throw myself back on the grind.

I said I was gonna open for June, and I have/will!
I just need a wee bit of rest and then we can get right back in the saddle, so I wanna let folks post their ideas to me before I decide what to accept tomorrow <3 Think I'd prefer working on sketchy flats/upgrades/YCHs but we'll see on customs as well, so please feel free to ask me!

More Smol Updates
Posted a year agoJust wanted to make a wee post on LIFE in the cold North...
If you noticed I've not really been uploading much but streaming more, it's because I've been getting back into the swing of live sketch stream commissions again!
I'm... shocked still at the sheer amount of interest for those, thank you!! ;w; I hope to keep it up and make it somewhat consistent again (maybe about two times a week, days differ depending on our RL schedule).
GONNA ADMIT... I think the driving force for that is because I've been procrastinating on finished bigger projects (the idea of shading fur right now is making me feel very tired).
But I'm doing my best to get through the final throes of my to-do list - now I just need to complete the Custom Ko-Fi Project from February, and finish a YCH, as well as getting another full-render ready to go for colouring. I haven't felt ready to jump in and get those done as fast as I'd like, but baby steps are still good, right? And the sketch streams have been forcing me to sit and work and I can turn off my brain working on much smaller chunks of work. It's been good! And I can see my improvement overall too!
So yeah, clearing my list has taken me longer than I wanted, but between settling at the new home/getting my workspace/life engagements/LOTS of startup cost/resting when I can (cos I probably burned out for a bit there), and only taking on what I can handle, my headspace is definitely feeling the relief of my to-do list slowly reducing. It's amazing what it does to the mental health of a scatterbrain like me! I so so SO want that fresh start after seeing how crazy the past 6 months have been.
With that being said... I SHOULD be able to open for MAIN/CUSTOM commissions again in June...?! I recommend folks keep an eye out for journals as there's no specific date but I would like to make it happen soon.

I'd like to have a bigger friend circle that I can actually go and hang out with. Folks who are in the furry community or at least know about it, artists or not, doesn't matter to me!
I'm aware of Scotiacon but I was curious as to whether there's hangouts in Edinburgh similar to what goes on in London with the LondonFur folks.
Please feel free to lend advice or suggestions!

Posted a year agoToday was spent getting some of my freshly moved bits in place, and that's included getting my desktop up and running!
I'm gonna take a bit to adjust, get more brushes and overall get accustomed to the new workspace, but I'm hoping to be full steam ahead and getting out WIPs as normal by the end of the week.
I will be refraining from taking any new work at this time, while I get onto catching up to what's on my current to-do list. I don't have the full-one listed on my FA as I find it easier to edit and present what I need to do on my Ko-Fi support server.

Commission Updates (IRL Stuff)
Posted a year agoAlright so you guys know I'm moving on the 1st.
My desktop has been valeted and had new harddrives/fresh reinstalls of things (big thanks to my buddy there), and it's now packed away ready for the trip.
This obviously means that I will not be able to finish rendering projects for a bit. It's not possible for me to take my desktop setup with us on our first drive up there, so I won't have access until the rest of my gear comes in, which won't be til mid-March.
In the meantime I still have access to my laptop and phone to access messages and look at references for work, and I'm gonna be doing everything I can to get what can be done on my iPad, done. Things like sketching and inking for upcoming commissions and my Ko-Fi work. At least working on little bits like this, I'll feel alot better knowing I've made a start on everything else I possibly can. HOPEFULLY this will be the final rodeo for the perpetual catch-up/slowdown phase I've been in this year and come April I'll have a (mostly) fresh slate on art projects.
Thank you to everyone for your support, patience and kindness during all this. It's been an absolute whirlwind and I feel like I haven't been able to relax for at least a week or so with trying to be on top of everything. To say I've been stressed is an understatement haha!
Hopefully once the actual move up there is done and I can get settled I will feel a lot better and actually allow myself to be more excited about the next chapter of our lives.

There's a lot of stuff to figure out in the lead-up and the first week, but we hope to be settled by the middle of the month. ;-; We're terrified and excited and happy all at once!!
