I've been doing some thinking lately about my life in general and how much I've changed, largely due to this site and the people I've encountered on it. I must say....It's been incredibly dynamic. I'm sure a lot of furs can look back at their older artwork, journals, and comments and see the changes, but I've noticed how vastly toned down I've gotten over the past 4 years I've been a member of FA. I joined as a horny teenager and it unfortunately will show forever, being stuck with the username NekoBoyYum for example...I have no idea what I was thinking. I finally have a full time job, so I can afford a lot more artwork, and I'm pretty excited about filling up my gallery after all this time. I already know based on most of my other journals only a handfull of you read and comment on my journals, but I felt like writing this regardless.

Hopefully that click bait worked...inb4 only 1-2 people read this and comment, I'm looking for an updated ref sheet for my main fursona Dr. Ty Infinity. I'm looking for an artist who is open, and can draw the darker cyberpunk style I like, and specifically I need someone who can draw clothing well because I want a clothed, and nude side-by-side. Any help would be appreciated.

I outlined my issue with removing the user icons that appear on my journals very clearly in a trouble ticket and two of them couldn't figure out what I meant or provided any helpful info other than "the site was recently updated". I have already thoroughly combed through the Profile Info and Journals sections and have found the area where one can edit the journal header and footer, however the user icons are not present for me to be able to edit. I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Perhaps I'll screencap this journal to show them... *grumbles*

For those unaware what I mean by this exactly, it's the stereotype/assumption that the furry community is just a fetish group for people who are sexually turned on by fucking in fursuits and/or into bestiality. Now just to be clear on my thoughts on those things, I'm mostly fine with both of those things under certain settings, albeit the latter one could, and probably should, merit a discussion on its own. The main problem I feel, comes from a mix of bad publicity put out by media outlets, and legitimate criticisms of certain aspects of the community. Here I'll outline my own thoughts on both.

Generally speaking, News programs have been steadily growing more positive in their coverage of furry conventions. I remember seeing a segment in which local business owners were praising the furries for bringing in business, and I really enjoyed seeing this. However I have noticed that no matter which news program covers it, they always manage to find the weirdest person(s) there for an interview or a b-roll segment. Not that we have to strive to paint the community with unrealistic colors, but it does admittedly irk and cause me to recoil a bit seeing an obnoxious fur get air time. The internet has also blasted furs as a lot of you probably already know, usually in comment sections, however I legitimately believe after reading so many of these "furfag" comments, that a good chunk of these individuals aren't merely trolling solely to get a rise, but actually think the way they do, being that furries are nothing but a bunch of weird animal fetishists.

But are they wrong to think this way? Is there no legitimate reason for them forming this opinion?

Before I answer, I would like a moment to discuss my critical opinions on aspects of the furry community. This is of course coming from a fur, but I'm going to be as objective as I can be. This fandom is truly a unique one, being one that spills into and mixes with many others, and as such, you see a very large and diverse pool of individuals that belong to this community. As such, it's only natural to have some people with issues in the group, however these persons seem to be much more prevalent in this community. Why is this? I think it boils down to quite a few issues, but I'll touch on the ones that matter the most (imo). This community is extremely open-minded and accepting, and while this is a good thing, it creates a space where people really open up sexually, which I don't feel is inherently a bad thing, but isn't always received well. People may develop odd fetishes due to the environment and supportive attitudes of others also in that situation. The other possibility is that people with already hardcore sexual intent may become active of furry websites for the same accepting reason. Furry pornography is not any worse that rule 34 other fandoms create. The furry fandom is largely made up of people aged 18-30, so at the end of the day, it makes sense why we love ourselves some furry porn, however to the random passerby it may come off as us being sex-obessed, which we are I feel to a point, but it is extremely hypocritical to insult sexualized furry art, then go jack it to random hentei.

So in the end my answer is "No", but there is some nuance to it. While it is unfair to demonize the group as a whole for the actions of a few, those "few" are extreme enough to create a blemish on the community's image that is worth legitimate criticism. I will say thought that in know way am I supporting the hateful comments and stereotypes put out there and I hope this community heads more and more into positive favor.

As I am very close to getting my updated ref sheet, I'll be starting to put out a lot more naughty art featuring myself, the femboy feline doctor Ty Infinity and his Absol assistant Dr. Gideon Zero. I haven't come up with a name I like for my male Gardevoir as of yet, but fear not, I will be sure to get plenty more art of him as well. What kind of art to expect? As I've recently come to grips with myself as bi, and not totally gay like I once thought for the longest time, I will be getting lots of straight and 3-way art interspersed with the gay artwork. I plan to keep it pretty 50/50 so if one sexual pref isn't your thing, there's always something to look forward to seeing one of my characters doing. As I have an affinity for sci-fi oriented settings, a lot of art will take place in those kinds of situations, and may incorporate some quite unique and kinky things. Anyways just wanted to give you few watchers who give these journals of mine a read a little notice of the things to come. Lastly I'd love suggestions for a female assistant character, because I'm struggling to pick a species and a name. She can be virtually any species or Pokemon. Recently I've been coming to terms with a lot in my life, and really starting to figure out what I truly think, feel, and believe. I've been completely solid on my feelings regarding my religious views, political, and other issues. However one thing that I've always struggled with has been my sexuality. I've rarely ever felt a true spark attraction irl, due to a lot of self-sexual repression brought about by my upbringing. All this led me to almost fully convince myself I was straight, even though I could never bring myself to act on those "desires", I often doubt myself if that was because of being scared of sexual activity because of my upbringing, or legitimate lack of desire to have sex with girls. Nowadays I think it's a bit of both. I roughly came to terms with my sexuality when I was 17 when I first joined FA. I had started using furry porn as an excuse to get off to male porn, without feeling like I was really gay. I guess in my mind at the time I felt that as long as it wasn't human males it didn't count. It seems so stupid, but looking back, I realize just how deep-rooted my repression has been. I finally snapped after my boyfriend dumped me and tried to convince myself I didn't really like guys, and at the time I really felt like I didn't. I've done a lot of maturing, including sexually since then, and finally worked up the nerve to start having sexual encounters with friends I trusted irl, both male and female, and came to be even more confused. Basically, this year I've come to realize I don't fit neatly into a perfect labeled box as "gay, "bi", or even "pansexual". While I feel the most satisfaction both emotionally and physically from men, I still enjoy physical engagement with girls, but don't feel that same emotional spark or attraction I do for guys. Pretty much what this means is that I've been struggling to have something more appropriate to tell friends when they ask why I favorited some female art for example, but still identify as gay, and my answer now is that I'm just homoflexible, I like this term best for myself. I....I don't get it. I don't RP as much anymore because of peculiar fetishes that I'm asked to do. Can somone please explain the appeal of things like vore, or farting etc? I have been on FA for close to 2 years now, and I have really come to call it a second home to me. I know it may seem strange, but this site, and the people I've met have put more emotion into my life than anything I've ever done. I have gone through bitter self-discovery, pain and heartbreak, joy and love, dark depressing times and happy bubbly feelings. It's hard to explain unless you've been in my shoes. I have struggled with my sexuality and gender identity for many years, and the community here, has helped me to find comfort and peace. I had found my first true love on here 2 years ago, and even though he broke my heart, it helped me to mature into who I am today. I admit to originally joining this site to explore my bi-curiosity and sexual things, but have since greatly come to embrace this community as one that is open to me and all my quirky traits, and not just a porn site. Yes, we all enjoy the naughty stuff of course, but what I mean to say, and I'm not saying well, is "thank you" to all of you. Bitter or sweet, each and every one of you has made an impact on my life. Many of you (especially those I frequently talk to on skype) have been even closer friends to me than those in real life.
