Fox In the Riverwell
Posted 13 years agoMy lungs felt like they were going to burst, rupture from within and kill me. For a moment, the Idea almost seemed better then losing the fight against the watery hands that pulled at my limbs. It seemed like I was underneath for hours and just when I thought that it was over; My muzzle penetrated the surface. Allowing me to suck in a glorious breath of air. I fought to keep up. I had been given a chance to live and the Devil himself would have to pull me under to refrain me from taking it. My wet paws slapped onto a stony ledge, claws digging in to nothing to allow even the thought of safety. The initial shock was over and the numbness of the water began to creep through my body, playing with my nerves like a silent guitar. For a few moments I only sat there with my upper body hoisted onto that ledge, with my claws dug deep into it. However, soon My eyes started to flit across the vertical stone cylinder that held me inside. "Is...t..this..s.s.s.some kind...of well?" I stammered as I dragged my wet, limp body onto solid ground. At all sides were stone; Not the kind lined up in blocks...It was solid stone. My wet, black shorts glistened from the water and were accented by the red straps that adorned it, Illuminated only by a small light above, that seemed so far away.
The Anti-christ
Posted 13 years agoNekuta Huffed as his claws clinked relentlessly on the ground, heels smashing into the pavement with every step. If not for the fact that he was being hunted down he probably would have noticed the numbness that began to ebb away at his fingers and feet. Snow. Everywhere there way snow; It fell in great flurries through the fog that surrounded him. Finally he stopped, skidding lightly in the whiteness at his brown, webbed feet. For a moment everything was quiet except for the solitude of his own breaths, echoing into the foggy abyss that held him there. His muscles felt like putty, legs wobbly as he forced himself to stand. Nekuta was in a state of "The good guy gets the short end of the stick." And in the worst way possible: Nekuta had been framed for murder, He didn't know why or how, only that the cops smashed down his front door and before he knew it he was holding the black and white jumpsuit in his paws with a look of terror on his face. "HE HAS TO BE HERE SOMEWHERE!" kune winced at the voice and started to move on. Without too much trouble he came by a brick wall, as cold as the metal handcuffs on his paws. He stumbled into the alleyway and slid down against the wall, slouched to the side with his paws in his lap. "I can't do this..." he simply whispered as his green eyes scanned over his now bloodied footpads and the darkness of the alley.
Suddenly, a small chitter came from the darkness, scratching sounds filling the air and with it came the tilt of Kune's head in confusion. "H..Hello?" No response. However, soon came the flutter of wings as a critter poked out it's head, tilting it with Kune's in unison. It resembled that of a bird, it's legs tapering off into nothing but small black points. Despite this, It could still stand, looking almost comical as it did. It skittered over to him and peered up with closed eyes. It's mouth was there yet, it seemed as if it wasn't. it was simply feathers that covered its mouth. "W...what in the name of...what are you?" he asked as he reached out his paws to gently rest on it's head, cascading down it's shimmering white feathers. It was as if his troubles had vanished away, all troubles washed clean of his soul as euphoria began to rise from his body, his fur standing on end. The creature chittered once more as it spread out it's massive wings, they were neon orange, casting off their own light. The strangest part was that they weren't connected to it's body. they hung in the air, forming wings in mystical patterns. Its tail curled around it's form, tapering off like it's feet until it formed into a deformed like clawed hand. Black in color. It twitched as if it was in pain, hanging in the air with a sense of symbolism before it latched tightly onto his handcuffs. Nekuta jumped in surprise, gritting his teeth as the handcuffs simply faded and turned dark black, manipulating a deep blue as the boiled off his paws and turned into a wispy, charcoal gas, drifting off into the alley.
"You...You can't be from this world, no way... oh god I'm hallucinating... that's exactly what I need right now... I gotta find warmth." he whispered in a hushed tone, bringing his knees up to his chest as his brown paws wrapped them close to his chest. For a moment he ignored the creature until finally sighing and looking down. "You are real aren't you...like some sort of guardian..." he said with a soft smile as he reached one trembling paw to pat the creature on the head, which churred in response.

Tribute
Posted 13 years agoSo I went to a McDonalds after school today and noticed someone inside...
She was older, maybe 45, but the wrinkles and bags under her eyes made her look 80. She was standing there, next to a small metal cart that held a black garbage bag which was designated to her clothing. Just another Homeless person in Western washington.
But...something was different. She didn't follow the normal stereotype of a bum; dirty, stained clothes with smudges on their face, long hair and a big heavy beard (for the males). Instead she stood with a straight posture on her skinney body, adorned with spectacularly clean clothes, however, they were ripped and matted at the ends. Almost as if owned by someone who took great care to keep them clean, to make them last for many many years. On her head was a flowered bandanna, which reminded me of a farmwife of sorts.
Despite her upheld posture she walked with a small limp and took her food:
1 mcdouble
1 medium fry.
I swiftly grabbed my own food soon after and sat down across the resturaunt and ate.
I couldn't help but to glance up at her as I bit into my hamburger and notice that she was scarfing down her fries , one at a time but in a hurried pace....almost like a holocaust survivor, someone who knew food as a scarce gift.
Once she finished she stared at the table for a moment with a look on her face like she wanted more, then began to rifle through her garbage bag.
I finished my own meal soon after and stood, throwing away my trash and collecting myself to head back to my car. Something inside told me to leave a dollar on the table where she was as soon as she moved away for a moment, but my brain worried that she'd take offense.( Even with so many people begging on the streets) This woman seemed different, more respectable.
I moved towards her table and reached into my back pocket, not finding the dollar I had in there earlier, and before I could locate it she returned. I stopped and started to walk away, cursing myself lightly.
Before I could, she stopped me and said:
"Sir...You're glasses! You left them on the window seal"
Sure enough there they were. I exchanged a thank you very much and scooped them up. I said thanks once more and on my way out I heard in her frail voice. "Have a great day sir" I stopped dead in my tracks, looked at another woman who peered at me, frowned and then left.
I do not know your name, your motives, or your creed.
I do not know your story, or which way you will proceed.
But I hope your journey through this life, goes better from here.
and the road up ahead, is a bright and happy one.
