Can I get 2-4 people with decent video cameras, gopros, quadcopters with gopros, etc. to commit to film the Rooftop Dance on Saturday, from 11-1pm?

For a day, we would have Saturday 11-1pm (mid-day, before fursuit parade) or 4-6pm (a rough spot between fursuit parade and floor wars), so I think the former is best. Saturday has the most fursuiters participating and the least formalized dance stuff. (Choreography will be limited, so we'll try to get it done in about an hour to give you time to get over to the fursuit parade.)

Everybody dance break.

Looks like I'm in charge again if it's gonna happen. There weren't as many self-ascribed dancerfurs there last year as expected, so for clarification, it's cool if you wanna come watch, but otherwise, come ready to dance.

I would love some commitment from some of y'all that I'll have enough dancers and at least a few folks willing to do some interesting/power moves. I know I'm not around as much as I used to be, but I'll still be at AC this year. So, some questions:

#1 - DO Y'ALL STILL WANT A ROOFTOP VIDEO for 2014?

#2 - Do you have some SONG suggestions? (I was potentially thinking Pharrell's "Happy" - too overdone?)

#3 - When's an ideal TIME?

#4 - Who's interested in showing up for DANCING or FILMING?

Update:
I just saw the FCN's Happy video, so I'm looking into different options. Whatever song I choose will probably will be a remix or a blended remix song for YouTube.

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that we have a time and videographers set for AC!

We will be filming on the roof from 2-4pm on the Friday of the con, and we're in the official conbook. YAY!


Sorry I have been late getting a choreography tutorial up - lots of projects thrown at me while also trying to get ready for my 10 year HS reunion, oh and trying to write things for my preliminary examinations so I can actually finish my PhD in the next year... lol


Anyway, for now, it would be great to have people pay close attention to TWO sections of the dance that are straight from the video:

#1 "Butt Patt Dance" (At 40 Seconds in, and throughout), Kyray has a segment of dance for two 8-counts. This consists of a short step and "butt patt," and a shift to arms above head and then to jazz fingers with leg movements (watch it and you'll see what I mean) This forms the basis of a LOT of the dance we'll be doing, and gets repeated quite a bit. Start working on getting this part down solid - it's the most difficult part.

#2 "Pon Pon Pon" (At 1:40 mins in, and throughout) This is the big hook of the song, and another dance of basically two 8-counts that is repeated several times. The biggest thing is is to get used to always having your hands in a "W" for the "WAY WAY," with legs turning in slightly, and always have your hand on your head with a small hop for the "PON PON." Remember: WAY is "W," PON is HOP.

To make folks feel better, we will be cutting up every section and filming each separately, until we get a good take. We will also teach that part again before each take, so don't be afraid to give it a shot. I hope to have a short video up before the con, but I'll be out of town next week (so, I'll be cutting it close to the con).

If you come to the event with those two parts down, the rest will be relatively simple and fun. AND, as I've said before, if you don't want to attempt learning choreography, but can still hold a beat and want to be in the video, we need plenty of backup dancers to do some basic movement and look cute. ;D

Putting out the call for people who might be interested in taking footage of the Rooftop Dance sequence. Basically, looking for 2-4 folks with good cameras/cinematography skills who could capture a few different angles on the action. I would just want these dumped to me as soon as possible when the event is over, or at least by the end of the weekend. Please leave me a note if you are interested (and attending AC), and we'll talk it out there.

I'm an adequate editor with an idea of how I want it to go, but if someone wants to do crazy animations or something in the mode of the Pon Pon Pon video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g), by all means, also let me know via a note.

It's been awhile, but I'm back with an update. It's a super-busy summer (as usual), but I just wanted to say that I will be back at AC this year, and I want YOU. That's right, Mangusu handed me over the reigns to make the next Rooftop Dance Video at AC 2013, and I'm looking for some talented fursuit dancers willing to play with a little choreography to the song "Pon Pon Pon" by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. There will be a background option if you just want to show up and be in the video, but I am looking for fursuiters ready to DANCE! ;3

It's been really nice taking the time this summer to check out AC, check FA regularly and keep messengers open. It's been a crazy busy summer with school and work, but it feels laid back in the sense that I'm taking the time to chat with old friends. Been holed up a lot since grad school started, and got a little out of shape and out of touch-really felt that at the last con.

So, I've been riding my bike and trying to get my body back into the shape it was before two or so years of a mostly sedentary lifestyle. I've got a long way to go, but it feels god to push my body in the hot summer sun.
