Posted 16 years agoSorry I had to leave early for FWA, I really wanted to stick around for another night or two and party with folks, but I was glad I got to see people for the little time I did anyway. I enjoyed myself. :)
My girlfriend says, "it was very strange, but it was fun to meet everyone." haha, I think it was a little intense, a bunch of new experiences at once, but she might be up for something else. Still deciding on RCFM or AC this summer, but that'll be decided when I've got classes scheduled.
Got back for rehearsals and the show went great! Just trying to catch up with life now... and you know how that goes...

My Father just passed.
Posted 16 years agoIn Louisiana right now, dealing with the business of the funeral and family. My mom's a bit of a wreck.
Sorry I haven't been keeping up lately with people. I thought some of you might want to know about this though. He was and will always be a wonderful, compassionate man who taught me to love and to dance the dance of life with great gusto. A fireman and real-life hero, he will be sorely missed. Smart, loving, took care of his family.... and the world. Did special tours during Katrina, saving flood victims.... I could gush on.. and might sometime.
But for now, I'm helping my mom through the night and getting my own head straight.
Don't know when I'll check again, so thank you for any kind words during this trying time.

Changing perspectives
Posted 17 years agoLife now is mostly about Solidification.
My life, now, has shifted necessarily from "momentum" to solidification and a re-construction of my academic persona. I'm still as open-minded as ever regarding new ideas and ways of thinking, but the "momentum" of these few months past has led me to attempt to "gel" my experiences into a more solid form, make sense of my memories and my current self. I am re-becoming a semi-static figure if, for no other purpose, to take stock of who I am and my values. This will also inform my perspectives and philosophy of life.
It's a necessary re-construction of identity which has been very much in flux lately.
It's like.. I was ice in a former mold, I began to melt to the point of boiling and mixing with other liquid. Now, I'm re-condensing back to ice in the freezer with a new mold. Change will happen like this again and again, though I'll always be composed of mostly water. We are cyclic beings.

Posted 17 years agoMoved a bunch of stuff to scraps and got rid of things that shouldn't be in there at all, like other people's badges and stuff. Maybe I can revamp this thing and make some real art or something that doesn't involve pictures of my fursuit recycled over and over again.. haha
Going to try more digital stuff eventually, and I want to be more experimental with anything I do with video.
Going back to school though, so who knows when I'll have the time. Might have some projects there that will work posted up here too, so you never know. :)

I want our pieces to compliment each other, Kwaz, so we should come up with the same theme. I'd really like to use a tribal rhythm like we had going at RCFM. Something dadaist and surrealistically... I've been thinking about love since te only theme of the con is valentines day. I could do something positive about love and you could be cynical, but don't let that decide for you, decide for yourself and twist it. ;D
- Masquerade #3 (if they let me do another) Might be a solo piece, but I'm having trouble deciding on it. In RL performance work, we've been working with the Fuego song for months http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD6AeQqQ3qc , but OZ, Dex, and friends already used the slower version at FC, so I don't want to be accused of copying, even though my dance partner and I have memorized most of the original choreography to re-do this live onstage for a show. Whatever, other options are:
-Live Action Leekspin (this requires a lot of work because I'd pass out leeks to the audience)
-Lollipop by Mika, because I'm making another dance video to this for the same show, but I dunno if it's sustainable by just one person.
-Skipping a solo piece all together, because I'm now participating in the dance-off.... and I'd rather have time to socialize..

We would go to someplace remote, secluded, private, and far off in a place like a beach to enjoy each other's company for a while, then we would go somewhere to drink, dance, and be merry all night long. After which time, we would return to our quarters and create a piece of art, then destroy it and create something we hadn't thought of before, and then trade passionate kisses until neither of us had any energy left, at which point we'd fall asleep quietly in each other's arms... Full of warm fuzzies. ^_^

-Furries and anime fans are essentially the same thing, only at anime cons there are more older adults and parents with younger kids so things have to stay squeakier cleaner.
-Helping the idea above, Pawstar is taking over all fandoms, and about 30-40% of ALL OF THE ANIME KIDS WERE WEARING KITTY OR PANDA HATS BY THE LAST DAY!

I mean, teacher always told me furries were deviant, but I guess they just see "neko" and "kawaii" when they look at these things. However, their card says: "Goth, Furry, Anime" !!?!!?
-People at anime cons draw furries, sometimes just saying "oh yeah, I think she draws animals...."
-Elevators can take about 15 average weight people. Any more than this or many overweight people will cause a modern elevator go into a protected mode (gears grind down) and you'll have to get someone to open the door on a floor below or above you. -If someone at a con offers you to be in a slasher film and has loli porn posted on their doors, do not, DO NOT take them up on the offer.
