the concept of Trust
Posted 15 years agoJust because I run a page on FA doesn't mean you have to listen to me XD
I didn't create the page... it was handed to me
I abuse whatever "power" I was given
and for that I apologise
I'd say I'm stepping down... but really I'm just putting someone else in charge too
I trust them to remain civil
and when given a password to an account, to not change it...
Your new ruler is Kivuli
enjoy.
RE: Art at fur meets
Posted 15 years agoWhat I meant to say was
"tone the art down a bit you guys, yeah?"
sorry if i came off as bossy, this journal is by no means supposed to be a way of telling people what to do, it's more of a corner of debate
my apologies.

On the topic of Art at Furmeets
Posted 15 years agoIt has come to my attention that the meets lately are becoming more and more focused on the "Art" aspect of the fandom, and this seems to have changed the overall feel of the meets for some of our long time residents. and has also made some others feel like the meets are no longer the place for socialising, and more of a place for drooling over our resident artists work...
while I personally enjoy the company of artists at the meet, others feel that it detracts from the "warm" and "talkative" atmosphere the meets formerly had.
so I'm enforcing a new rule: no drawing at the meets, no showing off badges or pestering artists about commissions, there are other places to do that. sure there's no way to police this, but have some courtesy, man! not everyone at the meet is a boneriffically good artist. though exchanging any previous commissions is allowed (sometimes it's the best way to get things to the person)
as for the drawing, we have scheduled art meets for that*, every few months in York, Newcastle and Durham (it goes in a loop every few months or so)
we need to start acting like we're hanging out with friends, and not like we're at a convention, people!
sorry if this sounds too forceful, these are merely recommendatory.
*art meets will soon have a blog/fa page to follow.
Edit: By no means am I telling people to stop drawing or to stop bringing art to the meets, as people say, it certainly breaks the ice. this was more a note on the current state of things as points have been raised by various people at the meet. I'm merely suggsting for the place to look less like a dealers den and more like an actual social gathering.
honestly you guys, calm down, nothing's really changing, Just shedding a little light, y'no?

Newcastle Meet October 3rd, Another month, another meet
Posted 15 years agoOdds are we'll do the usual, The Lodge followed by activity followed by Twist. I heard a couple of people talking about Blazblue but alas I have no idea about that. Any ideas for actvities please do suggest! I was surprised that some people just stayed in the bar all day at the last meet...
chances are we'll just decide what to do on the day =3

Newcastle Furmeet - 5/9/10
Posted 15 years agoMeet at 12 at Newcastle central as always and wait around for people to turn up... then we set forth to Alvino's!
I thought it's be nice to give them another shot as i've been there plenty of times and had no problems =3
I have in fact ACTUALLY CALLED THEM TO BOOK THE UPSTAIRS AREA!
so as opposed to having to carry your drinks up and down those cumbersome steps the upstairs bar will be open for all of us =3
As for food you can either stay at Alvino's and eat their delicious Italian cuisine, or we can all do what we want!
Sushi at YO! is getting old, but some people may still want to go, Suggestions are open for where people can eat!
During the day I'm sure we could use some of the tables upstairs for a little art session, during the day the lighting there is great =3
I was also hoping to maybe catch a film on the evening too, if anyone fancies seeing "Scott Pilgrim VS the World" you're free to join me
other activities can be done throughout the day, weather it's visiting the Hancock museum, or taking a stroll through the park, everyone's welcome to do as they please, maybe if the weather's nice we could go rowing, though good luck with that in September!
Hope you all enjoy yourselves =3

Newcastle Furmeet - 8/8/10 [Plan B]
Posted 15 years agoAside from Nightgown Nightstand's NIGHTWIND's planned activities for this forthcoming meet, there have been several other suggestions for possible events to take place at this possible event... *is mysterious*
Such possibilities include the same thing we do every meet... Try to take over the world...
Apparently there are some issues around world domination at the present day and age so I think that Meeting at central station at 12 then waiting for people before everyone scoots off to the Old George (see http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1588013/)
PLAN!
After meeting at central station, group A shall be going to the Old George to Play video games, whilst a separate leader shall take group B shall then follow, as apparantly we HAVE TO BE THERE FOR 12 :o
People shall go for food at 1pm. People are free to do as they please, though a few people shall be going to YO!Sushi, other popular eateries include Pizza Hut, Stateside and Subway... There are blatantly more, but from past meets I've learned these are somewhat "hot-spots" for furries.
After food people shall be reconvening at Leazerz park at around 2-3pm... ish
It's recommended that people have at least one contact for when people meet back up, though I'm sure we all do this anyway.
I shall be checking cinema times for toy story 3, if you'd like to come along, I'd recommend you book tickets earlier in the day, I shall be posting the show time for the Empire at the Gate.
We should aim for something near to 3 o clock, not everyone has to come to see it, though, no one's forcing you =3
An alternate plan to this would be a visit to the Baltic gallery, last time I checked it's free, but bring some money just in case!
People should normally be meeting back up at the Old George and play some video games. this shall be from 7pm onwards.
any questions?
feel free to ask =3
Live long and prosper!
Spock~
P.S. There will be cake xx

Meet up FOR 12 PM as of which we will head to a free function room at a pub called the Old George.
The old George will be able to provide Entertainment for all as i will be bringing a Console ((x-box 360 - Please dont be biased you Sony or Nintendo fans)) which belongs to myself with a small array of games, you may choose to bring your own however dont expect to play them unless i give the say so. as i want more party games any anything.
ill also be bringing a viarity of board games for others to play but please feel free to bring your own. hopefully ill have enough for all to enjoy.
for people who want food there will be a arrangement possibly on the day depending on peoples fancy's.
And finally there will be a Minibar open for all, though im NOT paying!!!!! D:
because this is a new place please consider like all new places for the first time i wouldn't like to Wear Tails, Ears or suits. id love to take my own at one point but best not freak out the new bar if that's possible (i know it will be hard being furrys n all)
if all goes well we will be able to use this place more often and would be brilliant as we may be able to have a movie night which dosent involve a trip to the cinema. but that's will be for a later time.
finally i have a single request, if anyone can help out this will be an asset to the meet, the TV that works there has no sound so a separate sound system is needed where the red & white plug ins for audio are needed. if anyone can provide this for the day that be most helpful

I have taken the initiative to start the thread before the organiser stuff starts AGAIN.
I'm allowed to because I'm a cool dude.
The usual drill : Meet up at central station at 12, newbies, we meet near the clock/entrance. We'll head off to maybe Leazes park, if anyone's interested in a picnic, we'll pop into Tesco/Co op or something on the way there. I'll see if I can get a few people to bring fun stuffs. When people get bored/cold, or people go off to food, we'll go to One or Twist (I prefer the former, but I know its a bit loud at times) at around 6 for everyone thats wandered off. Feel free to make your own plans then meet up later in the evening.
Artists : I'll try and bring a big sheet of paper we can all doodle on!
Newcastle Furmeet - 6/6/10
Posted 15 years agoSince the last meet was a muchos success I have come up with a nice idea/plan for the next one - Everyone feel free to join me on this but if it's not your cup of tea you can do whatever you want :)
12:00pm: Meet up at Central Station
12:15/30pm: Once everyone has arrived walked to The Lodge for food and drinks
1:30pm: Walk from The Lodge to Leazes Park for 'The Green Festival'
Now for those who don't know what 'The Green Festival' is it's a huge environmental festival raising awareness about environmental protection and social justice, there are lots of stalls you can visit, many stages where live performers will be playing, a circus area where you can try out juggling, poi spinning, trapeze, unicycling, acrobatics, acrobalance, staff manipulation, plate spinning, contact juggling and more :)
I have been to this festival every year since I was a young'un so it's special to me and that why I am recommending it to all of you guys too! - Make sure you bring lots of water because hopefully it's going to be a nice, warm sunny day also suncream for you fair skinned lot (like myself heh)
If the weather turns crap maybe a trip to the Centre for Life, The Baltic Art Gallery, bowling in Longbenton or the cinema
Prices for places are as follows:
