I've just opened a commission inquiry form you can fill out!

I'm not currently taking work, BUT this form acts as a sort of 'I'm interested' pool so I can potentially contact you when I clear space in my queue! Slots open sporadically throughout the year on no set schedule, and I will inevitably need the work, so this is huuugely helpful for me to have.

A couple notes:

- Filling the form out does NOT guarantee a slot in my queue, it's merely to express your interest in buying one!
- If I end up contacting you down the line and you'd like to drop out / postpone, you can absolutely do that!
- If you'd like, you can detail a general time that would be best for your finances at the end of the form! I'll absolutely keep that in mind as I go through the pool.
- Limited to ONE entry for the time being. Please refrain from finding ways around the limit to send me multiple inquiries.

so, most of you are aware i have been taking commissions, and some of you might be aware of how i take them... but only some of you.
I feel bad keeping things as vague as i do, so i'll lay out how it works

i run ALL commissions through a locked announcement twitter account. i only let those im familiar with in (mutuals, friends, generally trusted individuals). i hope that doesn't offend anyone who doesn't fit that moderately narrow criteria, i'm just guarded with the shit because wait times typically last several months.

if we're mutuals on this hellsite, and we're cool, and you've been meaning to ask about how to commission me, feel free to note me about following said account. i also recommend turning notifications for the account on, considering announcements will very likely be several months apart

First thing's first, I'd like to apologize to everyone who has noted me asking about commissions, considering I rarely respond to them! It generally feels kind of weird trying to explain my circumstances in an FA note... I usually just clam up :/

So, instead of just avoiding stuff, as I'm TOO USED to doing, I figured it's probably best if I just... Explain it here!

There are two big reasons why I never "open" commissions.

The first reason is because I have horrible anxiety and ADHD.
I rarely talk about all this openly, but I deal with near-debilitating, untreated anxiety on a daily basis. It took me a few years of working NON-stop to finally feel SORTA okay wage-earning away from the computer. My brain has a Very Epic tendency to hyperfixate on dumb shit, and it's really irritating!!! Whenever I start contemplating commission work outside of the very small, personal system I have for myself + close mutuals currently, that hyperfixation + adhd combo starts fuckin tagteaming me IMMEDIATELY:

"...but you work so slowly! You're far too picky when you work!! You know people will get tired of waiting!!"
" What if you open slots and they get filled immediately, and you upset people for not taking more?"
" What if you only open a few slots and you get FLOODED with requests? You want to tell everyone else they missed their chance? : o)"
" What if someone gets particularly fed up with the wait and gets a chargeback?? what then??"
" You're TOO SLOW!! Are you sure you want to risk damaging your reputation because you're a big snail lol : o)"

IT'S BRUTAL! AND ANNOYING!! I'll even get these thoughts when I open a slot or two for my FRIENDS to buy!! They've told me over and over that they don't care, that it could take me ages and they'd still be fine with it, but the noise in my brain drowns it all out!

Even as I'm working, I get pelted with intrusive thoughts.
It typically locks me ALL the way up, but, sometimes, the torrent of Brain Shit causes me to scramble, stopping work on one commission to start another... sometimes two others. This, OF COURSE, leads to MORE intrusive thoughts, because Y Not

To give you an idea, my most recent upload (the commission I did for sonicfox) was taken in OCTOBER... I've been nipping at it since OCTOBER!

OUTSIDE OF BRAIN-RELATED SHIT, I work full-time and help maintain a house away of art. My mom is getting older and cannot wrestle with bills and home maintenance on her own, so I had to step up. (All of the money I make working retail is designated mortgage/utility money, so I can't really touch it. All of my close friends know this, which is why i sort of swallow my anxiety to take comms from them when i need money for personal stuff). This, of course, is a major part of that delay i worry so much about, though I can't really do anything about this shit in particular.

The issue isn't that I don't want to draw other people's characters! One look at any of my galleries will stomp that idea out real quick LOL.
I think I just need to find.... a very specific system that works for everyone, myself and my potential commissioners. I've heard a few notable ideas from some other artists, but I can't really remember how they said they'd gone about it.

I dunno!!! I'm still trying to figure something out!! If anybody has any experience with anything similar and found a way to work around it all, feel free to hmu! Definitely open to some suggestions!!

A couple of things!

I just got around to reading the update regarding the new "Shinies" tipping system, and I'm fairly excited by the prospect! If everything works out well, it will technically (??) be faster for users on-site than going to an artist's ko-fi page and using that instead. So, I decided to set my own box up!

Some of you may know that I occasionally release designs on Redbubble, a few of you may even own a shirt with one of my Big Dumb Designs on it (thank you... holy fuck...). I just want to announce that I have officially moved accounts, and that I will now release shit here, under the NEXTEL alias.

A lot of what I'll be putting up there will reflect what I post on my design twitter, but I'm planning on reworking some of the pieces i post over on  inficimur to make them suitable for clothes/stickers/etc. AND I have a ton of ideas for future fauna-centric pieces, so keep your eyes peeled if you're interested in that!



And finally, I set up an art account on instagram!! I'm still learning how to use the app (the UI is kind of shitty...) and how to promote myself on it, but I'm giving it a shot!! I'll post small doodles and wips on there as well!!
