What's new?
Posted 16 years agoIf anyone actually reads this (other than on in particular) I may not post anything for a while...
My mind has been in the gutter and looking for someone to share a rent with or a good condo. However, I don't feel comfortable with the prospect of putting it up so~o, not going to happen. Maybe once I draw something I feel is fine to put up I'll do it.
I however got my own tablet so things may actually get up once summer hits.
Also, now that I got rid of a virus that had been plaguing my laptop I am back up and running.

I'm not dead yet...
Posted 17 years agoWell...the zombie has risen from its grave.
It's been a while since I actually did something on my account. I really should find something to scan in and upload once I get back from my winter break (seeing as I packed it away for the next few weeks). Or work on the ones I scanned in a long time ago.
I've been spending most of my time recently on school projects and the like. Most of them are done now and leaving exams left. although this means that most of my week next week is sleeping in or grabbing copies of my projects for commemorative (and personal showing) sake. I loved some of them too, so I'm making sure I grab them, maybe show my friends and family ^_^
My art has been sneaking its way through my mind seeing as a few pose sketches from school are turning into full blown projects in my mind. And a small challenge a friend gave me a little while ago is actually coming along.
I've managed to find a few things I liked to get from a site:
www.thinkgeek.com
these guys have the largest collection of fun gizmos, wicked shirts, and random knicknacks I've ever wanted. I'm making it a goal to get a couple of the nerf guns they have there (yes, toy stores have them too, but they're over double the price the site is selling them for) and having a nerf war somewhere.
During Christmas I get to see my parents that moved to Ontario, as well as my grandparents. I miss them I truly do. After New Year's I get to visit my girlfriend again (been about four months since I last saw her) and hopefully see some of my other friends as well.
Then the next semester of school starts in January, from there I'll be busy until march break, and maybe during it, looking at my classes and stories from the next year ups. I also plan on getting my drivers then. That way I can actually visit my girl on my long weekends.
this may be the last time I touch my account until the new year so I hope you all have a happy holiday. And for those who know what I'm talking about, enjoy your trip.

Orphaned Works Bill
Posted 17 years agoI mentioned a while ago about a bill that would technically allow people to steal their art. Referred to as the "Orphaned Works Bill". I now have more information about it.
First off: The idea behind the bill in the first place is to find the artists (Aka anyone who has posted or CREATED anything that could be referred to as art) who created works. The goal was to make it so if a company or another person couldn't find the original artist they still had a possible access to a piece of work.
B: You are not forced to register your work, you CANNOT be forced to register. However, the bill says that if the artwork is NOT in the database the pursuing party then has to commit to a "thorough" search to find the artist (There are no guidelines on what the minimum for thorough is).
3: There is the fact that if you mark your artwork with a watermark (a faded image merged into the basis of your artwork), that creates a unique signature that enables companies to locate you faster and disables them from using the artwork (They're not going to make a thousand prints of a painting if there is the owner's name or signature melded into the art).
If you are against the Orphaned works bill I suggest that you look up the group "Illustrators Partnership". Even if you just want to see the bill they are able to direct you into the correct website or location.

Posted 17 years agoI discovered something through the journals of many artists online and through multiple artist in real life. Not only is it horrendous but thoroughly enraging. It is titled "The Orphan Works Bill" being pushed through American Legislation.
What the bill says is that any form of art (sculpture, photos, drawing, painting, music, animation, poetry, etc.) must be registered for the creator to have copyrights of the form of artwork. If the artwork has not been registered, any one who is willing to register it (which will likely have a fee of some sort) will then own the artwork. If this was all then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
HOWEVER, if the artwork was registered then stolen/replicated by someone else, the creator has only a limited amount of time to lodge a complaint. If he or she fails to do so withing the alloted time, then that artwork is "Orphaned." If an image was orphaned (and therefore unregistered) then anyone who wishes to register it may do so.
The questions that arise are this:
How can one person travel through ALL image hosting sites to find any copies of his or her work?
How will this affect artwork from other nations (be it posted on an American based website or not)?
How much could this cost artist who normally sneak by all of the payments they have to make?
There are more facts to this bill that have been explained to me so far, I will try to find out what this bill contains. If any one who knows more of this situation could explain fully on how this bill will effect artists, please let me know or send me to a website (other than http://www.illustratorspartnership......archterm=00185) that would be greatly appreciated.

Villain MeMe
Posted 17 years agoSaw one I had to try: The SUPER VILLAIN JOURNAL MEME!
1. Choose your closer ultimate objective:
A. World Domination
B. World Annihilation
C. "One Million Dollars"
D. 72 Vixens, herms of course
Hmmmmmmmm. World Domination: have everything in the world at my fingertips but all the bloody paperwork, or World Annihilation: Nothing to rule but no paperwork. Tough call.
2. Describe your secret lair
Has to be underground. Other than that I'd call in one of those reality TV decorators. And a few self reliant plants; nothing can survive m black thumb.
3. What is your supervillian name?
"Dead Weight." Just for laughs.
4. What is your superpower?
Ability to duplicate an item within my sight into the space in front of my hands (See TV? See copy of TV in my hands?). This also includes molecules (See unbreakable metal? See unbreakable material in the shape of sword in my hands?).
5. What is your costume and what snappy little uniform do you make your thugs wear?
Black Cargo pants with a green muscle shirt. Pant pockets are full of different metals and various small weapons (one knife = infinite due to superpower)
As for thugs, I don't believe or trust them. If you want to know why read the comic called Empowered (in stores not online). I'd rather have some sort of assassin or shapeshifter for a teammate, they can choose what outfit they want.
6. What elaborate death awaits your superhero, that you have just now captured by the way..?
Elaborate? Screw that! Bullet to the head. If he or she is bullet proof, get blood sample, then inject quick acting poison. Not giving them the chance to ruin any of my plans.
7. The superhero escaped, blame the MPAA I don't know, you shake angry fist at them and say.....
Curse you comic writers who use that stupid resurrection plot device!
or
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGAN!
8. YOU are captured by the superhero now, what heavily fortified facility do you escape from in time for the next issue:
A. Prison
B. Asylum
C. Hell
D. Government Lab
E. Childrens' Birthday Party.
...easy to escape hell, they threw me out since I was too evil in the first place. Asylum...act crazy for a month then become sane, get released, then hunt down that annoying superhero; still too easy. Prison? Bribe everyone to turn around as I duplicate their weapons, too easy. Government Lab? Tricky. And the children's party? OH NO! GIVE ME THE LAB! I CAN'T SURVIVE LITTLE CHILDREN!
9. Finally give your best evil laugh :)
*giggle*! *ahem* I mean: *chuckle*!
There you have it. My super villain side. Pathetic but never runs out of money. His rival would have to be someone who he can't beat, so that would either be someone invulnerable or tricks him into fighting purely mentally. Or a girl who flashed him; he'd be too dumbstruck to do anything.
Well, that was fun. Maybe I should do more of these journal memes.

Life
Posted 17 years agoThe more time passes I realize a few new things.
How wonderful it is to live in the society that I do.
How great I have it.
How wonderful to live only looking a few years ahead and still manage to live life to the fullest.
And how much I really want my cable to use my scanner again.

First One Down
Posted 17 years agoOne of my friends decided to do one of those chain journals/chain memes but she decided to pimp me out to others. True I would like my art to be found, I just don't think I have enough substance yet. But for humor's sake I'll give this a shot.
The first ten people who reply to this journal get featured here, along with three of my favorite pieces by them.
Please only comment if you have at least three pieces in your gallery. Finished artwork would be swell, too.

Ideas
Posted 17 years agoI've been here only a short time and I've hit a block. I have spent most of my ideas for comics that everyone would get (ones with no inside jokes). Now I go to those who can stomach my art. I'm willing to draw ideas given to me from the audience.
If you wish for me to draw you a comic or image leave a message on my journal with the concept and characters. If you do not want to leave the picture idea on my journal you can send an email with the picture design in it to rio_firefeather[at]hotmail.com
I will NOT do all that are sent in to me if there are too many requests. Also I am a bit of a prude when it comes to my artwork. Note a "bit."
Thank you all for the ideas that you may or may not send in.

Saw it, had to try it
Posted 18 years agoI saw this on :aemi:'s journal and it made my day. So I thought maybe I should give it a shot... didn't turn out as great as hers but it was still fun.
1 . YOUR REAL NAME:
I said it before, find it
2 . YOUR GANGSTA NAME: (first 3 letters of real name plus izzle)
Natizzle. You know, I'm certain someone called me that once...
3 . YOUR DETECTIVE NAME: (fav color and fav animal)
Black Iguana. I feel like saying a witty comment right about now, but can't.
4. YOUR STAR WARS NAME: (the first 3 letters of your last name, first 2 letters of your first name)
Mclna. HOW THE HELL DO YOU PRONOUNCE THAT (that's an L not an I)?
5. YOUR SUPERHERO NAME: (Your 2nd favorite color, and favorite drink}
Green Milk... BEWARE EVIL DOERS! THE FUZZY LIQUID SHALL MOLD YOUR PLANS AND SPOIL YOUR EVIL DEEDS!! *snicker*
6. YOUR IRAQI NAME: (2nd letter of your first name, 3rd letter of your last name, first two letters of your middle name, last two letters of your first name then last three letters of your last name)
Alananlan...Not very varied is it?
7.YOUR WITNESS PROTECTION NAME: (both parents middle name)
Lynn. That's all. Seriously. No joke. My dad has no middle name.
8. YOUR GOTH NAME: (black, and the name of one of your pets)
Black Krissy/Mocha/Liska/Rocky/Nugget (on second thought not)/Razz. But none of those compare to Black Teke
