Life Update/Inactive
Posted 5 years agoI know most people have figured this out by now due to my lack of uploading, but I think I'll be leaving this account alone for the foreseeable future. I just haven't had the urge to draw, or at least draw anything presentable, for a long time and don't know when it will come back. If it ever does, I don't think I'll jump right into comics and kinks straight away, as fun as they were.
Real life has actually been quite nice for me, despite the pandemic. I moved a couple of times and now live in a real apartment with plans on getting real furniture as soon as it's safe to go out again. I still have a job at full hours, which I'm grateful for, and still have my health. I even got over my fear of driving and have a car now!
The only thing flagging is my art drive. It decided to go on an adventure and left me behind or something like that. If it ever comes back, I'll let you know. I do know that if or when my ability and drive to create returns, I'll start off fresh with a new account that I'll let you all know about. Until then, I'm leaving my profile up for those who may have favorited the art and want to keep it where they can see it. Thank you all for your support and understanding, and I wish you the best of luck in life.
Until we meet again,

Posted 6 years agoI did Goretober once upon a time and loved it, but never got around to doing it again. Welp, no time like the present! I picked a random Goretober list from Google, made some adjustments to it, and am accepting volunteers now!

In the Event of Another Site Crash...
Posted 6 years agoI want to make a back up account on another site in case FA crashes hard again. Does anyone have any other art sites they frequent and would recommend?
Update
Posted 6 years agoWell, Huion never got back to me about a fix and all the help posts I saw were either a year old or unhelpful, so I just straight up got a new tablet, a Veikik. A little weird feeling, but a hansom little fellah and easy to set up. I just had to make it Windows 8 compatible instead of Windows 10 and voila, it works. Tech can be a jerk sometimes.
Huion Help?
Posted 6 years agoHey, so I'm having trouble with my tablet and I have no idea what to do?
One day my tablet was doing fine. I took a break, unplugged it, plugged it back in and the pressure was gone. The tablet and its pen aren't damaged, it moves around and selects things fine on screen, but the pressure is just gone. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, no luck. I made sure the pen was charged up, no luck. I installed another art program, Krita, thinking SAI was crapping itself again. Nope, no pen pressure there, either. But oddly enough, the pen pressure works on Windows 10's sketch pad note program. I've uninstalled the latest updates to my computer, but that didn't help. I need to finish a commission badly but I can't finish it decently without the pen pressure. Does anyone have any idea what to do?
Additional info:
Computer: Asus laptop on Windows 10
Tablet: Huion H610Pro
Other: The pen pressure worked for literally less than a minute once I uninstalled the updates. But then I went to open a pre-existing image and the pen pressure vanished again.

"Doing Dandy, Y'Say?" Said Life, AKA: Pleasant Annoyances
Posted 6 years agoTL;DR: Computer nearly dies, gets resurrected better than ever.
So, I made that little update journal a few days ago, right? "Doing dandy" were my words more or less. Well, apparently life took this as a sign to give me a mini panic attack and killed my computer later that day. Literally, I was just working on commissions when my computer randomly turned off. I charged it, it wouldn't turn on, I panicked and took it to a local computer shop.
Thankfully, 24 hours and $40 later my lap top comes back to me, clean and operational. Kinda. Computer guy said I was seriously behind on maintenance and updates, so I started doing that. A little CC Cleaner, a little defragment and, of course, the updates. But, uhh, my computer didn't want to complete them? And was super slow?
Looking at my desktop, I realized I had a lot of crap left over from over the years. A digital comic program here, Undertale there, a defunct file sharing tool, that sort of thing. And the thing about digital programs is that even if you don't use them or delete them, they leave little bits and pieces of themselves behind, which eventually clutter up your computer and make it slow and crash. Think of it like how you might clean your room, but there's always something you leave pushed to the side because, "you'll get to it later" or "I remember where it is". Meanwhile someone else comes into your room and sees a giant mess of hair product and pens on your dresser blocking their view of the clock. Defraging your computer gets rid of all these little left overs, but not entirely.
I know I have a cheap spare lap top in my closet somewhere for emergencies, and I knew I couldn't keep working under such sluggish conditions. So I took a chance, back-uped my pictures on a hard drive, and reset my computer.
All of it.
The computer completely wiped itself of all but its in built functions and rebuilt itself as if it had just come right off the assembly line. The desk top was an empty void of what it once was, but it was comforting in a way. My computer was fast, the letters didn't lag behind my typing, and it took me less than an hour to get my essentials back: FireFox, CC Cleaner, and SAI. My next big hurdle came when I tried to reinstall my Huion tablet.
Apparently SAI and Huion hate each other?
SAI + No Huion Driver= Tablet worked fine, but no pressure in SAI. A sketch program in Windows 10 let me know the tablet and its pressure worked fine without a driver, but I needed it to work in SAI.
SAI + Huion Driver = SAI refused to open.
I started raking through the internet trying to find a solution. Uninstalling and installing in different orders, version compatibility, messing with file settings, it wouldn't freaking work! Either I wasn't getting pen pressure in SAI or SAI just didn't want to open up and play with Huion! I was about to flip my shit when I was browsing Huion's Reddit board and a comment concerning SAI in their FAQ post mentioned SAI version 2.
Wait, there was a new version of SAI?
Sure enough I look it up and SAI 2.0 came out this year. Huh. And I had a license for SAI version 1.0, so I downloaded it. Sure enough, SAI 2.0 and Huion are working fine together, so problem solved!
But guys.
Guys.
SAI 2.0 has a text function.
"So what?" you might wonder. No, no, no, no! You don't understand! As a comic-major commission artist typing up word bubbles has always been a pain in my ass! I tried with FireAlpaca, but their userface was too cluttered for me to enjoy. I love SAI, but to get typed speech bubbles I had to make them in another free art program and it was just a big pain in the ass to type the bubbles up, copy and paste them into SAI, then alter the different layers to accommodate each other. It was actually why I decided to switch over to handwritten speech bubbles in recent months. But with this new type feature in SAI I can make and alter speech bubbles in comics way easier! And there's other stuff in 2.0, too! Gradients! Smudging! Shit I don't even know what it does!
So, yeah, Just wanted to share a pleasant story about how a near digital catastrophe actually led to a healthier computer and a better art program. :)
Also, UPDATE AND DEFRAG YOUR COMPUTER FOR FUCKS SAKE!

Updating Journal
Posted 6 years agoJust wanted to swap out my journal entry. Minor life update, life is chugging along fine and dandy. Not fantastic, but not terrible. Work has been okay, health is fine. Been playing lots of video games. Just, ya know, dandy. How's everyone else?
Would anyone be interested in YCH auctions?
Posted 6 years agoI have some sketches lying around that could use one or two characters and the idea struck me that they could be used for a Your Character Here auctions. Question is: Would anyone be interested in such a thing? Please comment if you'd be interested!
It is so cold...
Posted 6 years agoThat I'm having ramen for breakfast because eggs and toast get cold too fast to eat.
Comics: Closed. Singles: Open!
Posted 6 years agoMy two comic commission slots have been taken, so I will not be taking more. My apologies for the inconvenience. However, my single image commissions are still open if anyone is interested in those.
Commissions!
Posted 7 years agoJust letting you know that I will not be taking additional comic commissions for the time being, but am still open for single images and chibis. I will update this journal when comics are available again. Thank you!
Moved!
Posted 7 years agoAnd it is done! Everything is in the new place, unpacked, and set, internet has been established, and now is a matter of getting used to it all! Art posting will resume soon!
Soon...
Posted 7 years agoLittle update: Found a place! Great price and location, landlord doesn't seem skeevie, so lucky me! Currently packing and will be moving next week. I'm gonna miss where I live now, but it's time to move on, so off we go! I'm getting the packing done, have the hires moved, and all that stuff. Just need to figure out what internet provider to go with and when to get it installed at my new place. So, yeah, still here, just busy!
Moving Soon
Posted 7 years agoHeads up, if I drop off the radar again soon it's because I'm moving! I've been at the same place for over five years now, but the landlord is also the owner and they want to move and sell the house, which means I gotta go, too. I'm gonna miss this place, and the prospect of moving and getting used to a new home all over again is giving me mad anxiety, but I don't really have a choice in the matter. All I can do is take a shot of booze to calm me down, browse my options, and hope for the best. Wish me luck and thank you for your patients.
Off For the Weekend! (Closed Requests)
Posted 7 years agoI have a few requests cooking, so requests are officially closed. I'll most likely open them up again later, but I'll keep the lists short for now.
Also I'll be heading out to visit family for the next three days, so if you notice a lack of uploads, that'll be the reason why. Uploading will resume Monday or Tuesday. Thank you and happy Labor Day!

Slow Return/Simple Requests
Posted 7 years agoHello everyone, my apologize for the long absence. Don't worry, nothing horrible or traumatic happened, just mundane obstacles. Namely, I went from working a few overnight shifts a week to an afternoon shift nearly every day, which kept me from drawing as much as I used to. Additionally, I completely and utterly lost any desire to draw for, well, a long time. It's finally starting to come back to me, but I'm going to take it slow to avoid burn out again. In the mean time, would anyone like simple, safe-for-work requests to help me get back in the hang of things?
Again, thank you for your patients and my apologize for the long absence.

Got music?
Posted 7 years agoI'm always down for listening to new music. Like, seriously, I need it like food or water. Anyone have any music suggestions for me to check out? So long as it's not country I'm down to give it a try.
