Vicky Wyman: first year anniversary of her death
Posted 6 years agoIt is very hard to believe that Vicky died a year ago today. If you have a moment, give her a thought. Wherever she may happen to be now in the cosmos, I am sure she will hear it and be glad of it.
I am in an Omar Khayyam frame of mind in remembering her and our long friendship, with all its ups and downs. So I will let the end of the Rubaiyat express my feelings on her passing and her memory, and I will remember later today to turn down that empty glass.
LXXII.
Alas, that Spring should vanish with the Rose!
That Youth's sweet-scented Manuscript should close!
The Nightingale that in the Branches sang,
Ah, whence, and whither flown again, who knows!
LXXIII.
Ah, Love! could thou and I with Fate conspire
To grasp this sorry Scheme of Things entire,
Would not we shatter it to bits—and then
Re-mould it nearer to the Heart's Desire!
LXXIV.
Ah, Moon of my Delight who know'st no wane,
The Moon of Heav'n is rising once again:
How oft hereafter rising shall she look
Through this same Garden after me—in vain!
LXXV.
And when Thyself with shining Foot shall pass
Among the Guests Star-scatter'd on The Grass,
And in Thy joyous Errand reach the Spot
Where I made one—turn down an empty Glass!

Balticon
Posted 6 years agoHi, all. Before Vicky Wyman was a doyenne of furry fandom, she was an empress of science fiction, fantasy and anime art at the local conventions in the DC and Baltimore metro areas. If I recall correctly, she designed the Balticon Viking mascot. She was Artist GOH twice at Balticon, and she ran the print shop there for years, as well as auctioned art. This year's Balticon is from May 24 to 27 in Baltimore:
https://www.balticon.org/wp53/
We have been given a full bay to display some of Vicky's flat work, and I hope to put up a variety of her drawings, tapestries, etc. I may be able to say a few words about her at the artists' reception on Friday night in memory of her. I am hoping to have a journal for people to write in by the display, talking about their Vicky memories. When she died, she wanted no formal memorial service, just people around, having a good time and telling stories about her. Each time you tell a Vicky story, she is with us once again, and you help fulfill her wish. So if you are at Balticon, please check out her memorial bay in the art show :)

Vicky Wyman Commissions
Posted 6 years agoIt was recommended that I make a separate post about this, so here is a copy of what I posted in another journal entry:
Hi, all. I found a commission from 2015 for user spriggan:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15548152/
Not sure if the person is still on FA. Can you folks get the word out so I can perhaps reunited this piece to the person who commissioned it?
I also found an inked drawing of 3 foxes in ancient Greek attire, rolled, with just the name Dana on a piece of paper. This was from 2013. Any clues as to who this might be? I have dug around in Vicky's address book and the files (gallery and scraps) here on FA, but no luck turning up the image scanned or the person. All I have is a name and the artwork.
After April 3 2019, any commissions not returned back to the folks that commissioned the work will be distributed to the beneficiaries as per law (claims upon the estate must be done by April), just an FYI. That is why I have contacted folks and left a message here for stuff I have found and have on hand.
Part of this executrix work (where is my whip) is being a detective.

Vicky Wyman's Estate
Posted 6 years agoHi, all. Marianne here.
I am the Executrix for Vicky Wyman's estate, as some of you know. I am trying to track down folks that were owed art. I have noted some of you.
It would be helpful if you send me a link to the art or a description of it if you think you are owed art. I would prefer you send the information to my RL email: ninetiger[at]aol.com
In this way, I have a record of your correspondence for estate purposes.
It has been a hard 5 months doing this, so your patience is appreciated.
My husband and I retrieved back in September all of Vicky's property at the house. We also cleaned out her storage pod in Fruitland in October and November. So whatever art I have in my possession is all that is left. If anything went missing or was destroyed, it happened long before I got on the scene to sort things. As they say: Nothing in the world is perfect or permanent.
I know some of you worried about Vicky's cats. I and my husband retrieved all 6 of them back in September. PeepPeep (13?) was very sick with kidney disease. She weighed less than 4 pounds and had to be euthanized after a stroke. The younger cats, Storm (3?), Raven and Tigger (1), were adopted out to good homes with the help of the excellent people down at the Animal welfare League of Arlington. They were completely vetted. FYI, Raven and Tigger, each weighing in at 16 lbs!, went to the same home. :)
Old Squeak (15) and Saffron (9), also fully vetted, have joined my household, and have tagged teamed with my cat, Bella, also 9, to run the house.
For now, I cannot speak of other matters, but know I am doing the best I can in a very messy situation.

Life, the Universe & Whatever
Posted 9 years agoHi, all. I joined FA awhile back to support my friend Vicky Wyman. But I am also a Thundercats fan. I have written Thundercats fan fiction since 1989. I did have a website called Thunderan Weavings to host this fiction, but I took it down back last fall. I heard from Vicky that FA was recently hacked. I have often followed her threads, but have not had much of an online presence since my sister committed suicide back in November 2015. Consequently, I did not know that my link to my old website had been hacked to lead to a porn site. Apologies for not making the web link change sooner. Really, I am not a spammer or a troll.
For those who might be interested, I am slowly migrating all 300000 plus words of my fan fiction to Wattpad, and my current link is to Wattpad for my website listing. I do have some Thundercats one offs up currently. However, I also have a novel called Silver Hooves in the Darkness that features a humanoid equine. It was written as a clean YA for NaNoWriMo 2012, and it did appear for sale digitally for a brief time on Amazon back in 2014. I consider it an equine science fantasy :)
That is all for now.

National Novel Writing Month
Posted 13 years agoIt soon will be here! Anyone else signing up for a month of kamikaze writing and doing a 50000 word novel in 31 days?At least there will be some new My Little Pony to soften the madness of being tied to one's desk for the month of November. However, be warned: Mercury will be retrograde!

My Little Pony Royal Wedding!
Posted 13 years agoLOL. Today's Sunday New York Times has on page 15 of the Styles section (wedding section), a sizable ad about the upcoming nuptials of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and Pony Captain of the Royal Guard Shining Armor.
And me without a new fascinator! I am distressed!!

Farpoint
Posted 13 years agoFinally. A first journal entry. Guess I better intro myself. In fannish circles, I am known as Nine Tiger (not the Stig). I have been a Thundercats fan for years and have spent untold hours crafting Thundercats fan fiction on my web page Thunderan Weavings.
I published an urban metaphysical novel called Coffee with Thunderbolts in 2011. It is one reason I will be on several author panels at the Farpoint Science Fiction/Fantasy/Media/Anime/Superhero/ETC/ convention this coming weekend in Timonium,Maryland (2/17-2/19, 2012). However, there will also be a Thundercats panel at the convention, and I will be playing the Devil's (or the Mummy's) Advocate as regards the new series. Should be lively and fun, especially since new episodes of the series are now airing in Ireland and not here.
That is all.
