Should Barack Obama be added to Mount Rushmore?
Posted 16 years agoThink about it. The very fact that we have an African American President is a prospect that started when our nation was formed. From the ashes of slavery came the fight for equality, The Great Emancipator Abraham Lincoln set the path for men and women like Rosa Parks, Dr. King and Barack Obama to take the world stage. Without the men and women throughout history these changes would never have come and our nation would still be the narrow minded place of the past. Barack Obama achieving the presidency speaks on the behalf of all Americans and nations alike. He deserves recognition and to be added to the greatness of individuals that have their faces on the mountain.
Yes perhaps we should wait and see how the remainder of his term goes, but bear with me when I say we have now observed history in the making, a piece of history that none of us thought to see in any near future. A black man is president and that by itself deserves to see Barack Obama recognized by some manner of statue beyond life size.
Perhaps none of us will see a monument happen until after his death, but I think we all agree that he has opened up a great new chapter for America, a chapter that all Americans should be proud of. All Hail The Chief!!!
