Posted 11 years agoSo, after two years I have a computer again! Admittedly, not a very powerful one.. I'm not sure if I can do a while lot in photoshop... But I have a computer! Yay!!! I can actually do things on the Internet again! Unfortunately, I have lost everything on my old computer, including all of my art.
I am opening up for commissions.
They will only be basic lineart which can be completed and sent within 48 hours of payment (though, this is a conservative time frame. I don't expect the actual drawing to take longer than a few hours once I get started).
Price will be aprox $25, but it depends entirely on the level of difficulty and how many hours will be required to complete it. (There's no sense in charging the same amount for a 30 min sketch as I would for a 5 hour sketch. I'm just trying to keep it fair.)
I might be open to doing some watercolour paintings for the right client at a higher price.
Not very fussy about subject matter.

Client Phonecall
To give some context, this is in regards to some event photography I did a few weeks ago.
It was agreed on the night that I would be paid an hourly wage- 2 hours, spent on the night. There was not an agreed minimum number of photos, nor was it agreed that I would do any edits. ...... But then I did an extra 39 hours worth of FREE work on the photos to get rid of saggy-bits, wrinkles and pot-bellies, simply because I liked the client and wanted her to be happy with the way she looked in them, rather than looking at them and only seeing the signs of aging. 39 hours. Keep this in mind when you read the following:
*Phone rings*
ME: Hey, whats up? :)
Client: ……*sad voice-tremble*……………
ME: Hello? Client?
Client: The package you sent arrived in the mail. My sister-in-law opened it and saw the photos... and she wasn't happy.
ME: What exactly didn't she like about them?
Client: ... She thinks they were all unedited, there where only 30 of them and not worth the money....
ME: Do you think that?
Client: I don't know. I haven't seen them.
ME:... Wait a sec, did you just say 30?? There where over a hundred.
I don't even. :|
I would have paid someone NOT to have had to do that gig, if it meant getting out of the convo that followed. We agreed that the disk was damaged, as only 30/119 photos where showing up, so i'm re-sending via drop box and sending a second CD to be safe. Apparently they where showing up in sepia (I have no idea!?). I assured her that this isn't how it is appearing on my end, and that I will be sending a second copy incase it was damaged- Even then, I have no idea how it would delete 80 photos and turn the remaining ones sepia.. I have serious concerns that this person is just trying to get the photos for free.
The housemate who threw a curve-ball
To add to the mindfuckery that is my life this week, my housemate told me today that she is going to India! Cool! :D
She then added that she used her $900 share of rent money to pay for the flights, and basically left it up to me for either pull $900 out of my ass, or find a trustworthy replacement housemate by the 13th who just happens to have $900 laying around to pay for rent in the next 6 weeks! To make matters worse, she announced this knowing FULL WELL that my partner and I will be in a different state for 6 weeks on holidays (while still paying rent as usual, as most normal responsible adults do!)... So even if I do get a new housemate, that means leaving a complete stranger alone in my house, with all of my things for over a month. (I'm betting that I'll come home to a trashed house, with all of my stuff stolen and sold!)
University mindfuckery
Nearly done! Time to rant about Uni...
I was 2% off a High Distinction for my topic- Putting me at 83%... You need at least 50% to pass.. Exams are only worth 30%. It seems like i'm safe, right? Nope! Apparently my 83% dropped to a 48%??? I don't even. That can't be right.
I'm going to the University tomorrow to talk to the counselor to try to work out whats going on. If it isn't an error, i'm going to see if I can just do an essay instead of the exam. My mind is filled with too much fuck to study 24 weeks worth of revision in one week with everything else affecting my ability to study.
RIP, my furbuddy will be missed.
Last off, my amazing, beautiful, bizarre cat was hit by a car in the wee hours of a Friday morning. I didn't get to see the body, as it was removed right after the incident, so I initially had no way of knowing it was him. I only found out because I was looking for him in the 'lost and found' ads, and I found a report from someone who hit a cat matching his description only a few doors down from my house on the same day he went missing. I was hoping that the report was about a different cat, but it's been 2 weeks and he isn't home. I haven't told many people. It took me nearly 2 weeks just to tell my family, I just didn't want to spread the sad news and then come home to see him lazing on my couch.
Last night I had a dream that he waddled into the house, seriously overweight because someone thought he was a stray, took him in, and overfed him. I kept pinching myself in my dream, because I was so happy that I thought it couldn't be real.
... I now know without a doubt that pinching doesn't actually work. I was so certain that it was real until I woke up.

They also appear to have stolen many other FA artists work, including

Posted 13 years agoSo a little while back I announced that I had just moved out (rather unexpected and sudden). But yay, after loads of headaches and problems with the internet provider (TPG) I FINALLY am back online.
Mild Rant:
It was a major pain in the butt dealing with TPG. First they charged us a $100 connection fee- Before anything was connected, with no mention of the connection fee being due upfront (Other places I've dealt with only charge it after it's connected and provide an invoice before taking it straight out of the account)
Then someone made a mistake on our account and it was charged a second time. Luckily after 3 weeks of frequent emails we where refunded and told it would be connected in a few days- Wrong! It turns out they connected an address that didn't exist.. Which meant the entire process had to start allll over again, lol. Hence why it took nearly 2 months to get the net set up (a great joy while trying to study for midterms! :P )
Aaaaaaaand I am getting tested for type 1 Diabetes tomorrow!
Anyways, I'm back! (yay!) so expect a steady flow of updates.

No Internet
Posted 13 years agoI currently have no internet besides what I have on my phone as I am moving house. I have been working on commissions and prizes as much as I've been able to on an iPad. Unfortunately, this arfternoon I discovered that FA uses flash to upload, which doesnt agree with apple products and means I can't submit anything until I have the net back again on my PC. :(
The past three days have been spent hauling furniture upstairs and packing/unpacking boxes upon boxes of my possessions. I have cuts and bruises all over my feet and one chunk missing from my leg, credit to a truck. My ex-housemate-drugos are all pissy (god knows why), so I need that stuff all out and clean asap before they decide to trash what i have left.. Which means I can barly take a break to catch my breath, let alone to work on uni stuff this past week. Despite this, I have been doing my best to work on my client jobs, prizes and assignments all while playing the role of a therapist to a friend who fell for a demon-lady (which, is strangely enjoyable as it gives me a break from the clusterfuck that is my life lately.)
Fuck, I'm tired. Tonight was the first time I've had time to cook a real meal in a week and last night was the first night I had more than 5 hurs of sleep. Ah well, onwards to another day! Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.

So I've had a think about it, and I have come up with a way where everyone can benefit!

Today I sing the blues
Posted 14 years agoIt's complicated, so I'll spare the details and simplify the whole situation.
Last night I woke myself up by having a nightmare that my boyfriend* was having a secret relationship with this beautiful friend of his, who has always made me feel intimidated, and who I have never met despite all of my requests to meet her.

You will understand why I feel intimidated.
And then I found out that everything that happened in my nightmare, was true.
And despite this, I feel sorry for him and I still love him- It's hard not to after 5 years. But I really want to hate him for this and seek revenge... but the little voice in my head is screaming "He's only human."

After a rather lengthy hiatus I have returned to the land of the internet (there goes all of my free time!).
A lot has changed. I have a new house, new job, no longer in a relationship, graduated, death in the family, gone on a roadtrip to QLD, joined gym, started Burlesque dancing, joined a new social-circle, and have had plenty of adventures along the way and in-between these things. It's been a massive year and I really don't know where to begin.... But omg! I finally have a working computer AND the internet for the first time in 12 months. Haha
After a rather lengthy hiatus I have returned to the land of the internet (there goes all of my free time!).
A lot has changed. I have a new house, new job, no longer in a relationship, graduated, death in the family, gone on a roadtrip to QLD, joined gym, started Burlesque dancing, joined a new social-circle, and have had plenty of adventures along the way and in-between these things. A note on Christmas and consumerism.
Posted 15 years agoMy goodness... since graduating I've become overwhelmed with general happiness and gratitude. I seriously can't remember the last time in my life that I felt so calm and just generally happy. It is very good! :D
I'm not at all moody/ashamed/angry with life. Very very very peaceful right now, I do not feel anxious at all, which is a greater relief than graduating alone.
My goodness gracious me, this is nice. I feel so Zen! My inner peace and patience has been restored! I'm so relieved that I could tear up (and have).
On that note, Christmas doesn't necessaries have to be about consumerism. No doubt that it IS marketed that way, I'm not naive enough to say it isn't.. however, just like every piece of marketing and advertising out there it is up to the people to decide how that ad will effect them.
For my family Christmas is all about the annual feast and getting sunburnt. Good times with great people, lots of loud talking and yelling across the room. Dad throwing out a sexist joke or two, and watching Ceara trying to assert her intelligence. Lionel being messy with his food, playing music, or trying to be funny and Sean getting into debates with where ever possible. Mum, pat and Ceara in the kitchen, while the boys and myself chill out with each other. Chilling in the backyard, getting sunburnt. Afternoon naps. Some Caramel tarts on the table, along with potato salad, chicken, prawns, quiche, fruit and that weird marshmallow-salad stuff I hate.
Awesome people, awesome food. :)
Also, guess what my sister brought everyone for Christmas? A card saying that she had donated a duck to several families across 3rd world countries on behalf of each of us. Consumerism doesn't necessaries have to be a bad thing.

Posted 15 years agoOk, so I've been an emo little fagot these past few months over my computer being fucked in the anus, my assignments being difficult to complete (due to computer issues), my exhibition taking up my time, my commissions being impossible to open on fucked up computer, death in the family, chronic fatigue, generally being poor all of the time, scholarship money not arriving on time, and a rather stressful semester to sum it all up.
So, I've come to realize that although I love doing commissions, this is not a good time in my life for me to be constantly doing them. I want to improve my skills as an artist, and experiment with styles and techniques. But after commissions/assignments/ect I am too drained to focus on personal projects.
And the pay is pretty pathetic considering most commissions take upwards of 40 hours, and I charge an average 0f $80, which equals to $2 an hour.
To be able to pay the rent, and feed myself purely from commission money I would need to be working 22 hours a day, just to pay for the bare essentials.. Which means going to bed at 1am, and waking up at 3am, and then proceeding to work non-stop without a single break during my day.
Living a life like ^this would be terribly unhealthy- physically and mentally, and I would never be able to have any time to do anything.
I would not get the chance to become the kind of artist I want to be.
And for these reasons, I will be closing my commissions/trades after I finish my current ones, indefinitely. I will still probably accept the occasional commissions/trade that takes my fancy, and I might livestream sketch marathons if I have enough buyers for one day, but it probably won't be a regular thing.
For the sake of curiosity, to all other artists out there:
- Why do so many commissioners do art for $30, when it takes them 2 days to complete?
- Do you think current trends are encouraging people to take advantage of young artists?
- Is it fair?

3] If you love the 50's pinup look and think all women should have hips, C-cups+ and a 25" waist because it is 'healthy' and 'natural' you are FUCKING retarded! Did you ever consider the kind of damage corset training does to the body? Tard.
4] If you claim "MEAT IS MURDER!!!","SAVE THE <insert cute animal>!!!" and support the fishing industry, you are a FUCKING tit-wank for SO MANY reasons.
5] If you are against Child Pornography, but go off on a tantrum about how you have the right to upload/seek porn of a 2 year old boy (with added fur and a tail) being gang-raped up every orifice with cut's and bruises while crying "Don't daddy! Prostetics, Masks and Bodypainting- For free.
Posted 15 years agoHey lovelies, I have been doing Bodypainting for Work experience! It is loads of fun, omg, so much fun! Eee!!! :D
I just thought I'd put it out there, for those of you who want to be all dressed up (but can't afford the massive costs of a suit) that I'll be happy to do some bodypainting or prosthetics for any lovely people out there.
I won't be charging for my time since I'm new to it and inexperienced at this stage, but I would ask anyone who wants to be transformed into their fursona to help by covering the cost of supplies.
My holidays are coming up, and I will have a lot of free time to explore new things, such as this! :D
I have done:
- Base colour
- Additional colours/patterns
- paint a 'Fluffy' pattern/texture on skin.
- Attached prosthetics. Eg: add whiskers and adding gore (so much fun to make!)
I would like to try:
- Attach tails/paws/claws/ears/horns/scales to make it look like more like it is a natural part the body (latex can be difficult to get out of fabric though, so this should only be done on bare skin, or on old clothing)
- Make Foam/latex FX masks which can be re-worn.
- Attempt to make a full-body custom latex suit- Maybe also glue fluffy fabric over the entire thing for a perfectly-fitting fursuit.
Some things worth noting:
-Hair can make it difficult- You would need to shave/wax where the paint or latex would go before doing this, otherwise it can be hard or even painful to remove.
-Keep in mind the heavier a person is, the bigger the canvass would be and the longer it would take (and the cost of supplies would be high for a full body painting). If you are lovely and large I would suggest only a partial body painting (ie: arms, face, neck)
- Bodypainting and FX can take a LONG time, so if any of you decide you'd like to give it a go please be prepared for a few hours of socializing with me.
- And last off, but most importantly: I'd rather not spend hours painting someone who is mean, elitist, or massively crossing-the-line inappropriate. If you start talking about your dogs cock, make a pass at me, or touch me in any unwanted way, I will pick up my gear and leave right then and there. No exceptions. (It really sucks that I HAVE to say this btw.) That much said, most furries I have met here in Adelaide have been pretty cool to hang out with, so i'm sure there won't be any problems there. ;)

So this is me, officially opening up my commissions again.... And because my installments for collage fees are over-due, I am opening pay-however-much-you-want-to-pay commissions, in hopes that it will help me reach the $60 I need.
It basically goes like this: The more you pay, the more detail you get. Please keep my usual prices in mind.

Wine-bottle art commissions

I have a whole lot of wine bottles laying around (I don't really drink wine, I just needed to collect empty wine bottles for my Design assignments) and I've been considering ways to get rid of them all, since I graduate in two weeks and they won't be any use to me after that.
So, I was thinking I should make wine label art of peoples fursonas! :D
Will include:
- Illustration
- Title of wine (or the name of the character)
- Drink info (percentage, ml/ounces, ect)
- Quirky little description on the back.
I just figured it would be something unusual that ordinary furs wouldn't have in their collection.

Solo Exhibition, life update.

I'm having my first ever solo exhibition in 5 weeks. (OMG, I am so nervous!)
I've been organizing the whole thing all by myself so far, and (so far) it's looking like it'll be rather unusual (in the good way).
I want to stay away from the whole 'posh' attitude, and make it something really fun to celebrate the 'weirdness' in everyone. I want it to be the kind of thing that weird people can feel at ease in, and conservative people will feel like a minority.
The theme has been picked, and now I just have to paint like mad for the next 4-5 weeks leading up to it, plus take care of advertising and get the word out there! The theme rotates around fish, and lends itself to this kinda inked style i've been doing lately- but with a slight touch of realism added to it.
I'm having it in a recently opened fashion shop called "Artisans" just north of the Adelaide CBD, in prospect. I'm also hoping to have some body-painted models welcoming people in on the opening night.
I need some more ideas on how I can make this show really interesting and unusual. So far i've got body painting, but that is all. So I really need some more ideas that will attract people to this event- If you think of something let me know right away! xD
I am completely open to ideas, no matter how weird that are (as long as it won't get me arrested. lol)

Posted 15 years agoI've been having to take a (very long, very boring) 45 min bus every morning and night to and from school. Since thats an hour and a half every day wasted I figured I might as well use it to be creative, so i'll be giving this "Iron Artists" "100 sketches" thing a go.
PRICES
The first 3 commissions will be at only $3 each. -filled
The next 5 will get it at $5.
and from then on it will go up to $10 each.
HOW TO MAKE YOUR REQUEST
1. Send me a note with the subject "Iron artists"
2. In the message, just post links to a reff sheet and use ONE word to describe your characters personality.
- If you don't have a reff sheet please type a very simple dot-point description
3. I will message you back to confirm it.
4. Once the sketch is done I will send you a note titled "Completed" with my paypal info
