Snacks the bunny has died...... I am a bit depressed.
General | Posted 16 years agoPrepare for a long story...
A week ago I discovered my parents dominant male rabbit very very ill. So, I took on the newest two bunnies (just been weened) away so they would be less likely to contract the disease.
I befriended the two kittens. The very sweet runt, I named 'Snacks' because she would eat ANYTHING... she even gave me a haircut when I was napping.
And a bigger brown and white boy rabbit, I call biscuit. He is very pretty, the most friendly and smart of the two.
Earlier tonight, I came home and walked to the balcony to give them some zucchini, which they dont like very much but it is supposed to be super-healthy for them.
I noticed my garden was very much destroyed. One of the two had jumped over my chicken-wire fence and eaten all of my new seedlings, my Geisha, my Marigold..... and my..... Jasmine.... I also noticed BOTH of their water bowls had been knocked over since I last filled them.
Usually they would both run up to me the second the door was open, but tonight only Biscuit came. Snacks, was laying awkwardly on the cement.
Seeing Snacks like that, I knew something was very very wrong.
I walked towards him, dropping the zucchini to a hungry Biscuit, who ignored it and raced towards Snacks and myself.
I cuddled Snacks while a worried Biscuit sniffed him. My cat followed me out, and Biscuit chased him away, he is so brave. While this was going on, my boyfriend set up a little home for him in the lounge room, right next to the heater and out of the cold.
I placed her in her warm little area, with some water as I desperately search the Internet for help. While searching I have discovered Jasmine plants listed under 'poison'. Fuck. This could be my fault, or it could be disease, I have no idea. Snacks has always had a snotty-nose and an occasional 'ah! Chew!' but nothing like this.. limp, lifeless, blind.
The only way I knew she was still alive was by the occasional twitch as her legs kicked out in what I can only assume to be pain.
I searched and searched to find a way to distinguish between poison symptoms and myxomatosis, but all I found was "Be careful not to mix them up."
After realizing there was very little I could do to save her from myxomatosis, I searched for poison treatment. But all I found was how to kill a rabbit with poison.
Snacks would occasionally let out a squeal, so I picked her up... tried to give her some water (I got a few drops in) and hugged her for a while before putting her back into her warm spot next to the heater.
She would squeal again, repeat.
She started to look a bit better, her nose started to move and sniff and she was twitching more often.
My hopes where up. :)
She gave a bit floppy-rolly-polly stretch, almost knocked herself off my lap.... and he nose stopped moving.
Soon, I noticed my lap getting colder and colder, it took a few seconds to realize my skirt was soaked in Snacks urine.
I held her.
I wet my finger and held it close to her nose. But I couldn't tell if any air was coming out.
Her eyes where open, as they had been the whole time. I desperately searched the house for my mini torch with no luck. I felt my hands shaking, and I held her under the ceiling light.
But there was nothing.
It has been 2 hours since I got home.
And now, I am certain Snacks is no longer with us.
I hear an occasional noise, but that could be a number of things. I placed her back into her bed next to the heater. I cant be certain, I am not medically trained.. although I do know what to look for.
I just hope by some miracle there will be a bouncing rabbit pooping all over my carpet when I wake up.

sad things
General | Posted 16 years agoI just found out a girl I went to school with lost her baby.
The child was born to early, at 21 weeks. The lungs hadn't fully developed. the baby suffocated in her arms.
I didn't talk to her much when we where in school together, but I know she was a great gal. I don't know what to say to her.

General | Posted 16 years agoCommission for Auction!
General | Posted 16 years agohttp://www.furbuy.com/auctions/1009221.html
This commission was originally for Sue*, but she has pulled out of it after I had gotten this far.
(I have removed the character markings and tattoos for this post)
I don't want to leave this pic unfinished, so I am Auctioning off the final version!
What happens:
If you like the sketch, you bid on it's completion.
The highest bidder will own the final of this image.
I will need reffs of the highest bidder so that I can add in markings and make any changes to the species.
I want to go all-out with this image. The winner will receive nothing but the BEST!
*Sue owns the sketch version.

General | Posted 16 years agoMy parents breed English rabbits.
Their recent litter consists of 2 very sweet little balls of fuff. <3
There is a shy brown one
A grey and white one, which is starting to gain confidence.
And a VERY curious black and white one, the smallest of the bunch
I have never seen a young rabbit be so intrepid from the start.
M parents enclosure is quite large as far as rabbit huts go, and there are 3 small burrows so, understandably we dont know there are new rabbits until they are big enough to show themselves, and usually by the time that happens they get a bit scared when they meet their first human.
I grabbed the rabbits earlier on today and am trying to tame them up a bit.
The black and white one has been dashing back and forth and grabbing treats from me.
The grey and white one has been snacking and grooming
and the brown one is cautiously moving about and helping groom the grey and white youngster.
...trying to come up with a suitable name.

furcomic
General | Posted 17 years agoMy boyfriend is making fun of me for spending so much time on FA lately.
Also, does anyone know some grand furry webcomics?
I read a short series about two prisoners playing around and falling in love overnight. It ended with the male admiting that he was framed and set to suffer the death penalty.
Something like that one would be lovely.
