I honestly have no idea how many folks read my journals anymore, but I figured I'd give this a shot!



Quick Explanation!

I hadn't realized I haven't logged into my Nitescratches account for the past four years until just this week. It turns out I don't remember the PW or even the email attached to it, so I'll be making a new writing account. Perhaps it's just as well since I don't consider Nite to be my sona anymore. I want to get back into writing again, and it'll be nice to have everything all in one place (including potential writing prompts.).

Also, now that I have four published stories under my belt (and have a better idea of my limits), I think I might open up story commissions again. If I actually do, I'll be certain to make a journal on here for people to message me about any unfulfilled commissions I had accepted money for first.

I know it really doesn't look like it, but I'm really trying to make a conscious effort to be more active on here x.x I have recently given up on Twitter altogether and I honestly want more contact with the furry community again. I miss you guys ;-;

So yes, I'm trying. I promise. Just don't give up on me quite yet.

It's been... way too long. So much has been happening. I'm going to try easing back into this site slowly so I don't get overwhelmed and drop it again. I hadn't intended to come back, but I've missed people. Almost as much as I miss the arts.

Anyway, hi!

My apologies folks. Things have been difficult for a bit. I haven't been intentionally avoiding this site. Just some major personal issues came up that I had to deal with. One of them is that my dad's PSI (is that correct for cancer cell count?) went up to a count of 19, which kind of made his doctors do a double take. Originally he was supposed to have another ten years or so before he had to worry about doing much of anything about it. It looks like the cancer decided to speed up the process. He starts radiation treatment on June 1st.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to go through and reply and catch up and everything. Again, I'm really sorry it took me so long. Folks will have answers by tomorrow night, promise.

Fell in love with the design, but I haven't been able to use him. I've gotten a picture or two commissioned of him since, but I had won him in an auction for $50.

IF I was to put him up for sale, would anyone actually be wiling to buy him for anything even near that price? I know it's quite a bit of money and not a lot of folks are doing well money-wise these days. If someone really likes him enough to pay that much though, I might consider it.

So after some debate, I will be doing a second edition of Civilized Beasts. For those who don't know, Civilized Beasts is a collection of poetry all about animals, whether it's about observations of animals, being in the mind of animals, or anything in between. All profits go toward the Wildlife Conservation Society, and the poets featured get a free copy of the collection. I'm hoping to open submissions on May 1st, and the deadline will be October 1st.

I've been fighting with myself on whether or not to post this and even posted a journal on it for a grand total of a couple of hours before deleting it. Unlike that journal, I'm just going to say it to the point and get it out there and try to move on. I was pregnant, and now I'm not. I was in the doctor's office when it happened though, and Spirit was there, so it was the best case scenario for the worst day of my life.

Will probably post something after this so it's not on my front page.

I've been doing a lot of reading into the mythos and history of the various Lantern Corps and thought it would be pretty epic to get a picture done. If this were to go to auction, would anyone bid on it? What about Rage (Red), Greed (Orange), or Fear (Yellow)? What about Death (Black) and Life (White)? What if I added small stories that would allow you to redefine what the role of your character's lantern plays?

Would anyone actually bid on this? Are there any artists who are big enough fans as to want to tackle a 7-9 character picture?

Alright, after talking with the different artists and giving it a lot of thought, I'm happy to announce the winner!

Please understand, this was a very difficult decision. A lot of effort went into a lot of beautiful artwork. The only thing I can ask is for the winner to offer to buy some of the amazing artwork that's come from this. Great job to everyone! My one regret is that I don't have something to offer all of you for all your hard work.

I have all my pieces of Nite uploaded onto my Weasyl Weasyl account today. Either tomorrow or Monday I'll be taking down all artwork of her. I'll post one more journal just before I start doing it.

I'm still holding to the whole "wait and see" policy, but the more journals I see about artwork already being illegally sold on IMVU, the more I want my artwork as far from this site as possible >.<

Sorry for any inconvenience, but there are even less laws protecting commissioners than artists, making it that much more difficult for us to keep things safe. It's especially worrisome for me because I have art from artists that have completely disappeared. With no way to contact the author to request their help, it's that much more difficult to get anything done in general.

So yeah, that's the deal for me, personally.

I'll be removing my artwork within the next few weeks from my accounts. After some digging and research, I find myself uncomfortable having it on here for now.

THIS DOESN'T MEAN I'M LEAVING FA!!!

I still want to wait and see if we're just making a mountain out of a mole hill. Chances are I'll be bringing all my artwork back after a few months. There are still the tons and tons of folks I'm Watching here and you can still contact me through comments, pms, the note system, etc and I still want to get those writing commissions I owe written out. I just won't have my artwork up here is all.

In the meantime I'll be posting everything to my new Weasyl account. You can find me there under the very same name, Nitetigrezz. I'll be honest, I'm really digging the folder system there, so even if I bring my artwork back to FA, chances are I won't be ditching it.

Thanks to Twitter, I got the information pdq while at work. I admit, I might have flipped a table or two. However, I wound up boiling things down to one simple little phrase: Wait and see. That's pretty much my stance on the whole she-bang.

I'll be honest, I'm very felinesque when it comes to websites I log into. I had to learn and accept this about myself. Even if they rock the boat, it's going to take a lot for me to want to go through all the time and effort to learn a new website and move everything on over. It doesn't help that I've been on this site for nine years now (holy crap has it really been that long? o.o). I'm settled, I'm comfortable, and so far nothing's happened to buck me off.

That being said, a new owner is sort of a big deal. So I'm going to be poking at Weasyl (which has a great friend of mine that's not on FA anyhow :P) as well as SoFurry. Once I have accounts set up, I'll post a journal here with them and add them to my journal footers (need to update those anyway). Chances are all my writings will be heading to SF and all my artwork will be headed to Weasyl, with freebies going on over to my DA account. Most personal updates go to my twitter, so I might even post my twitter account in case anyone wants to follow. Nothing's written in stone yet, so we'll see.

How do they work?

See, I wear glasses irl. I have since I was about 8 years old. Since so much of me goes into Munch, I realized it would be so cool to ~finally~ give her glasses. The problem is, I realized I don't know a really good way to make this work at least semi-realistically.

I've only ever had other character illustrated with glasses, and it always felt like I cheated since the arms always just seemed to float beneath her ears. Like seriously, how do they stay on her face???

I didn't even really give this much thought before, but for Munch I'll be using my rl pair of glasses. Lemme tell yah, bringing something from the real world to the fur world can make you painfully aware of just how many tweaks would be needed to make it work. It also doesn't help that Munch's ears are set high tobegin with.

So, does anyone have any tricks they know of or even use themselves to work around this? Or am I doomed to stick with the arms just hanging out beneath the ears?
