It's been a while, time for late reviews.
General | Posted 10 years agoToo long since I last had some art commissioned. Expect more of the mountain of fluff real soon.
:Recently commissioned artists:

Tanks had an Iron Artist commission and I always wondered what Niv would look like as a human. Personally I was expecting a lumber jack with beard and all, but she did an excellent representation of him in his current time. I'd be happy to commission this artist again for more as I've seen their other sergals.

After seeing Aviomata's style and the way they drew things, I rolled the dice after not seeing any sergals in their gallery. I'm not going to lie, after a while I was anxiously waiting for a glimpse of what was to be Niv's head- not a lot of artist have a good grasp of the sergal's cheese wedge of a head, but after i saw the initial sketch I sat back in my chair relieved, but with a sense of disbelief. It was honestly the first time they had drawn a sergal. I thought it was an awesome image for his early days. Long story short, I'm going back for more, something to continue on the ref as he develops.

I asked for a height difference, I got my height difference. Kenshiki delivered and I was not disappointed. Niv had muscles, Adrestia was cute- though she said her sergal looked a bit masculine. Lesson learned, all I have to do next time is ask for Adrestia to look a little more feminine and lithe. Other than that, I like this piece of work.

Felis did a batch of icons for people, after seeing the presented list of what could be offered, I jumped at a Floofer icon. Too damn adorable. Best $8 I ever spent.
Hard to find skilled artists when you choose a difficult species for them to breath to life, but I'll just be giving my own two cents on how I like the art I've purchased in regards to drawing sergals as of the time of the completed commission.
So later on if someone looks to this and still questions an artist's competency with sergals, don't fret, they've probably gotten better. A good example of this is Falvie, I liked the way they drew Niv, though some found his head to be off- to their credit he was, though shortly after that, Falvie drew a perfect sergal bust. Perhaps it's just the cheese-wedge of a head that some struggle with, trying to add more cuts and curves when there doesn't need to be, or putting teeth where there shouldn't be. Oh well, part of the journey to mastery i suppose.
Though with that being said, here's my opinion on previous commissions that I've had and not had the chance to speak for, some are long overdue as the first two I purchased sometime in 2012, better late than never, right? ^^;;

I think Falvie brought fourth the insane level of fluff that Niv has, which is kind of her specialty, and though she did not accurately draw Niv to sergal expectations, she later proved that she could master the wedge-head with Byakuraitora's sergal featured here -> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7753202/

There's not a lot of sergals that Flinxy-Flinx has drawn, I may have been her introduction to them, but she blew my mind when it came time to see what she had drawn. Course the feet'ers are wrong, but baby steps, the rest she was spot on, to include the bushy mane. Pretty awesome for a painting too, I believe that's when she was experimenting with it, could be mistaken though.

When Angarchyart shows you an artist to get a commission from, there's good reason, and I was not disappointed. Chancellor has an awesome style of art that I called out looking like spawn, this further excited the artist and for good reason, Todd McFarlane and Gregg Capullo are awesome artists. Getting back on track however before I digress anymore, Chancellor was able to illistrate the extremes of anger and happiness flawlessly, earning them my returned business- even to go as far as making a DeviantArt account due to them moving.
Lesson learned, never question Angarchyart about artist choice.
