Hold your horses – the shuttle bus is here!
Posted 8 years agoNordicFuzzCon is only a few months away, and we have a lot of fun things in store! Including late-night disco, fursuit games, trading cards, bouncy castles, free-to-use arcade machines, and a whole lot more! We would hate for you to miss out, and we are therefore offering the ultimate in transportation technology: the shuttle bus.
We will have a FREE shuttle bus service going between the main hotel and the second hotel 24/7, once every half-hour from both hotels. Get from one hotel to the other in under 10 minutes!
Read more here: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Venue/ShuttleBus
Did you or your friends miss out on a room at the main hotel? There’s still no need to miss out on the convention! Just book your room at our second hotel, Scandic Upplands Väsby. The shuttle bus will ensure quick and easy transportation between the hotels.
In addition to the shuttle bus, we will offer a 24/7 locker service for attendees staying at the second hotel, so that you may store your essentials at the main hotel and not have to travel back and forth.
You are also free to store your fursuit in the fursuit lounge, not having to transport it back and forth. If you have worked up a sweat, you are of course free to shower at the main hotel, too!
Read more here: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Venue/SecondHotelFAQ
The hotel does of course offer all the expected hotel essentials such as free WiFi, sauna, gym, pool, and of course a daily breakfast buffet. In addition, for those traveling by car the hotel offers free parking for all its guests (which our main hotel does not offer).
Special Prices – Act Now!
Are you or your friends interested in attending NordicFuzzCon? We recommend that you book a room at the second hotel now!
We only have a limited number of rooms available. In addition, any unsold rooms reserved for the convention will revert to the hotel on December 5th at 23:59 CET. Once this happens, you will have to order rooms through the hotel directly instead of through the convention (if there are rooms still available).
This means that the prices will increase (we are offering the rooms at a special discount, both at the second and main hotel). In addition, you will not be counted as a residential attendee and will lose out on certain benefits residential attendees have.*
If you or your friends are considering attending, we recommend booking a room sooner rather than later. We would hate for anyone wanting to attend the convention to miss out.
Register now: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Regis.....ation/Register
*Non-residential attendees have to leave after the convention’s last official event of the night has taken place and cannot use the convention’s room share system.
Questions?
Please see our online FAQ for additional information: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Venue.....telInformation

More room slots for early and late nights!
Posted 9 years agoWe were really overwhelmed by your enthusiasm for joining us for NFC 2017! This lead to a shortage of rooms, especially on the super early, early and late days. After talking with our hotel, we were able to extend our room blocks for some room types on those days.
We were able to add single and 3-bed room slots on all three extra nights (super early, early and late) as well as double room slots on early and late nights.
We will add these extra rooms to our booking system on Thursday the 29th of September at 20:00 CEST. From that moment on you will be able to change your booking using our online “Change Room Type” tool (https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Account/MyBooking) if you wish to stay in one of these room categories for the extra nights.
If you were waiting for one of the other room categories to get more slots then keep an eye on our availability list (https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Regis.....n/Availability) as slots may open up in these categories when people start moving to some of the new rooms.
If you recently made use of the room change tool you may have seen that there is currently a timer active that prevents you from changing your room type. These timers will be removed before we add the new rooms to our booking system so that you will be able to change your room even if you currently have an active timer.
Best regards

NordicFuzzCon 2017 at the Scandic Infra City Hotel
Posted 9 years agoNordicFuzzCon 2016 concluded five months ago with fur flowing out the hotel. It may seem a long time to some, a short time to others, but the fact remains: It is never too soon, nor too late, for a new adventure.
Our next adventure starts in a brand new, even bigger hotel! Located just north of downtown Stockholm, and just south of international airport Arlanda, is Scandic Infra City! Our first year has us very excited, bursting at our fursuit seams. Scandic Infra City is filled with water for the aquatic among us, trees and bushes for the birds and herbivores, and escalators for the... predators? Follow as we take you on a quick tour through this fantastic hotel in our latest video:
Register on September 17 at 18:00 CEST to find out: Are you a Samurai or Super Kawaii?
Also...
• For the first time ever, we will be offering a Dying Dog Dinner. This is a premium Asian-themed buffet with light entertainment and socializing, getting you ready for the Dead Dog Party later in the evening. Read more here: https://www.nordicfuzzco...g/Progra.....DyingDogDinner
• The day before the convention (Wednesday March 8th) we will be arranging a trip to the famous Skansen Zoo and Cultural Heritage museum: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Program/Skansen
• We know how excited furs get about payment providers, so we are happy to say that we will be accepting Swish payments! It's a no-nonsense, easy-to-use payment provider, making registration payment easier than ever. (Note that Swish is only available to attendees with Swedish bank accounts.)
• We have a pool! Yes, an honest-to-dog, water-filled pool. Bring your swimwear and rubber ducky.
• For the second year in a row, we are offering SUPER early arrival, allowing you to arrive two days before the convention officially starts (Tuesday March 7th). Perfect for those that want an extra day to settle in and relax, to sightsee, to meet friends, or to get the cheese party rolling.
Do you have any questions? Don't hesitate to ask! Contact information can be found here: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/About/Contact

NordicFuzzCon 2017 website now online!
Posted 9 years agoAfter long days of over-time, bug-killing, beta-testing, and distracting YouTube cat videos, we are happy to announce that the NordicFuzzCon 2017 website is now online – thanks to NordicFuzzCon's ever-amazing IT and Media departments.
Want to see what all the fuzz is about? Give it a look and see for yourself!
At our new venue we will be able to offer a variety of hotel rooms, including six-person junior suites – or, for those who don't like to share, two-person master suites. We will also be organizing an outing to Skansen Zoo, one of Stockholm's most popular tourist attractions! And this year... we have a pool!

NordicFuzzCon is hiring!
Posted 9 years agoConventions don't run themselves: they rely on the dedication and hard work from people such as yourself. Do you think you have what it takes to join the NordicFuzzCon team? Do you want to help make NordicFuzzCon 2017 the best convention yet? See our list of available 'jobs' below.
Media & PR and Conbook
Both the Media & PR and the Conbook departments are looking for the following:
Writers. People who are able to write English without making embarrassing misspellings; who are able to be funny but informative; who are able to be economical with their words, i.e. keeping it short and to the point; who doesn’t mind doing a bit of information gathering when the information needed for a text is lacking, asking around in the various departments for clarification; who are on the right side of the ongoing Oxford comma wars; who can never get enough semicolon action; and who are available on short notice to do text work (which includes editing, proof reading, and writing new texts from scratch).
Designers. They should be familiar with InDesign and Photoshop or equivalent, be able to multitask and switch between different projects, and have a good grasp of basic design combined with a desire to learn and grow.
If you are interested in volunteering for either, then you can send an e-mail to media[at]nordicfuzzcon.org or conbook[at]nordicfuzzcon.org .
Dealers' Den
We are looking for someone that would be interested in working in the Dealers’ Den team to help plan the den before, and work in the den during the convention. You will have ample opportunity to meet, talk and interact with the dealers that are attending the convention. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to dealersden[at]nordicfuzzcon.org .
Art Show
The Art Show is one of the highlights of any furry convention, and while it may look like it pretty much runs itself, it actually requires a lot of work - especially when opening and closing. So more helpful paws are definitely needed!
If you join the team, here's what you'll be helping with:
- Double checking and sorting submitted art, making sure it meets the requirements. It is always better with a 2nd pair of eyes to pick up anything others might have missed.
- Help the artists to arrange and distribute their artwork in a professional and pleasing way.
- Making sure attending guests don't take pictures or attempt to steal or touch the displayed items.
- At the closing of the Art Show we need to sort, rearrange and handle payments. This will require quite a few paws as it needs to be handled smoothly and with a certain amount of speed. Previous knowledge of monetary handling is a bonus. Plus, of course, being able to stay professional and friendly while doing so.
Would you like to trot along with us at the Art Show? Then please e-mail us at artshow[at]nordicfuzzcon.org .
Medic
More medics can never be wrong! They are needed during the convention to make sure that everyone is having a good time even if someone gets hit in the stomach with a plushie. To volunteer your services, please send an e-mail to medic[at]nordicfuzzcon.org .
Security
The NordicFuzzCon security team is responsible for convention security. That means to manage queues, making sure people have a good time, and resolving incidents during the convention, like “my plushie ran off” and “I need a hug from someone”. If you would like to join, then please send an e-mail to security[at]nordicfuzzcon.org .
Logistics & Construction
The Logistics & Construction department is currently looking for more victims... err, we mean, more volunteers! You'll be working with a small team of like-minded furs, and it's an excellent opportunity to get to know both the convention and some new, friendly people.
The work includes setting up, tearing down, lifting and carrying, as well as some occasional on-the-spot planning. The work is fun, physical, practical, social, solution-oriented, and occasionally a bit tiring. But it's mostly fun!
You must be able to arrive at the convention one or two days prior to the official convention start, and leave no sooner than the late departure day.
Having a driver's license is a bonus, but not a must.
To volunteer, send an e-mail to logistics[at]nordicfuzzcon.org and tell us why you would like to join.

The final amount for Kottecentralen revealed!
Posted 9 years agoWe are happy and proud to announce the final amount that was raised for our charity, Kottecentralen, at NFC 2016:
55 000 Swedish kronor!
Yet again our incredibly generous attendees have risen to the occasion, as we've yet again broken last year's collection record! Our charity, Kottecentralen, are as overwhelmed as us; and like us, they're immensely happy with the result.
We send a massive THANK YOU to each attendee who donated money! Whether it was by buying lottery tickets, bidding on art for charity in the Art Show, putting money into the donation cans, or in other ways.
We also thank everyone who donated items to the lottery and Art Show – without you it would not have been possible to raise all that money.
A further thank you goes out to everyone who went collecting with a donation can, assisted the Charity team, or in other ways helped us make it possible to raise all the money.
We're very moved to see how important this worthy cause is to all of you, and this generosity (both of spirit and of wallet) speaks volumes about the values, integrity and love of the furry community. Everyone who helped or donated should be proud of this accomplishment!
The money was formally donated to the charity on Sunday 3rd of April 2016 at noon in Gothenburg, where Kottecentralen's main base of operations is.
Below is a statement we were delighted to recieve from the charity.
Swedish version:
Tusen tack!”
English version:
“We are so very thankful that you are all so wonderful and are thinking of the animals, and that you chose Kottecentralen as your charity. The money will, among other things, go to more rehabilitation cages, fodder, veterinary care, medicine, and more. This means that we are now able to help more injured animals that need rehabilitation. Thank you so much!”
From the Charity team and all of us at NFC, we say thank you for your generosity and look forward to seeing you all again next year at NFC 2017!

NewEinstein resigns as NFC board member and co-chairman
Posted 9 years agoNewEinstein resigns as NordicFuzzCon board member and co-chairman
It is with deep regret that the board of NordicFuzzCon reluctantly has accepted NewEinstein’s resignation as one of the convention chaircats and board members of NordicFuzzCon. This amicable departure is the result of a longer process, which started when NewEinstein announced that he would be moving to the USA to work. We all saw that it might be hard to run and manage a convention from overseas, several thousand miles away from the country where the convention is being held. In addition, there is also a great difference in time zones.
As one of the founding members of NordicFuzzCon, NewEinstein has been part of the convention from the very beginning, and we are very grateful for the effort and personal commitment he has put into making NFC what it is today.
NewEinstein will, however, not leave the convention entirely, but is only stepping down from his chaircat and board position. He will continue to assist NFC as Head of Registration.
Visit the following link to read a departing statement in NewEinstein’s own words: https://forum.nordicfuzzcon.org/pos.....-NordicFuzzCon
The entire board wishes to thank NewEinstein for all the hard work he has done for the convention throughout the years, and all the fruitful discussions and visions we have shared. He will be missed by all of us, and he will always remain one of the founders of NFC.
Looking to the future, the board has decided to change the structure of the organisation and create a vice-chairman position. The remaining chaircat Trax and the NordicFuzzCon board will be looking into possible candidates for a new board member and a vice chairman in the upcoming months.
Sincerely,
The NordicFuzzCon Board
Trax, Miles T.F. Baxxter, Pinky, and Ethan Staghorn

NordicFuzzCon 2016: A Retrospective
Posted 9 years agoWe are happy to say that the convention was again a big success and would like to thank all who attended!
This was our second year at Utsikten Meetings, and all the rooms were booked in an astounding 95 minutes after registration had opened - a new and very unexpected record. Once our second hotel was secured, our attendees managed to fill that one up as well! In all we were 513 attendees this year, which were about as many as the main hotel's fire regulations would allow. In all it was an increase of over 30% from NordicFuzzCon 2015, with 26 countries represented. Our charity this year, Kottecentralen, even joined the fun by making and wearing their own animal ears and tails, as well as getting a door sign for their room.
This was a year of many firsts and many highlights, including the following:
• We had a giant inflatable Mausie, standing over five meters tall, waving hello to all our attendees!
• We had a private showing of Disney's Zootopia movie at the nearby cinema, complete with fursuiters and selfies and post-movie howling.
• This year we had a not-quite-daily newsletter called What the Fuzz?!, printed out on genuine paper! All three issues are available digitally here as PDFs: http://2016.nordicfuzzcon.org/Progr.....hatTheFuzz.htm The What the Fuzz?! printer did sadly not survive.
• This was the first year we offered SUPER early arrival, where you arrive the day before the early arrival day - so in effect, two days before the convention has officially started! Over 200 attendees chose this option.
• The Canadian furry convention VancouFur just happened to take place the same weekend as NordicFuzzCon. And guess what? They had chosen the same theme as us: Atlantis. We knew this must be destiny, so for parts of the convention we had a webcam stream set up in the lobby of our respective conventions! Attendees from both conventions could thus peek in and see what was going on, and communicate with each other through the magic of body language, and words written on real genuine paper.
• This was the first year we had an awards ceremony, where winners of various events were given fancy, genuine paper diplomas during the closing! One such diploma was given to the winners of the Best Door Sign award: it was awarded to Lune and Rabby for their underwater Zelda-themed door sign. It was drawn by Lune and has been uploaded here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19249967/
• We implemented the Blip system, which allowed for attendees to not only conveniently use their dinner tickets, but also to unlock achievements registered to their NordicFuzzCon accounts (which will carry over to future NordicFuzzCons as long as the same account is used when registering).
• We had a total of 265 registered fursuiters, so things naturally got busy at times in the fursuit photoshoot room. The pictures are all up online in our galleries, together with the attendee and fursuit group pictures: http://galleries.nordicfuzzcon.org/
• Despite all the fun things going on, some people still had nothing better to do than pressing The Pointless Button (found in the lobby). In the end, it was pressed a total of 60,782 times during the convention.
• Our charity this year, Kottecentralen, even joined in on the fun by hand-crafting their own animal ears and tails, as well as making their own door sign.
• We had no elevators malfunction or break down, which we believe is a first for any furry convention.
While the convention was overall successful there's always room for improvement, and we would love to hear back from you. If you missed your opportunity to give feedback during the convention through either the feedback boxes or the feedback panel, we also have a section on our forum where you can leave your written feedback online: https://forum.nordicfuzzcon.org/top.....-Feedback-2016 Let us know how we can improve (but let us also know what we did right and what should remain the same).
You can also leave links to your own photographs or videos from this year's convention, for others to enjoy: https://forum.nordicfuzzcon.org/top.....?videos%202016
If you have any pictures from this year's NordicFuzzCon that you would like added to our official galleries, please upload them to a ZIP or RAR file, and send the link to the following address: photos@nordicfuzzcon.org. In the e-mail, also include your badge number and under what name you would like your pictures to be posted.
As for NordicFuzzCon 2017. As announced during the closing ceremony, we will be moving hotels yet again to allow for even more people to attend. In 2017, NordicFuzzCon will be held at the Scandic Infra City hotel in Upplands Väsby, Stockholm, from March 9th to March 12th. (With early arrival being on March 8th, and SUPER early arrival being on March 7th.) Our theme is Japan: Samurai or Super Kawaii? Celebrating Japanese culture, both past and present.
While we wait, why not enjoy enjoy these fun videos?

Deadline for badge uploads extended
Posted 10 years agoThe deadline for uploading badge pictures has been extended! Why? Read on and you'll find out...
In the end, it doesn't matter who put Mausie in charge of the badges. But someone did, and Mausie, in his ever joyous glee, claimed to have a method of printing the badges on site, in the deep sea depths of Atlantis!
Unfortunately, it seems as if the deep sea pressure got to Mausie's head.
"It will be dry, they said," Mausie squeaked when we saw the disaster. "I promise it will dry up!"
Of course, it did not. It was a lofty idea at best, and we had to find another method. A better, tested, and reliable method. Thus, we are happy to announce that the deadline for uploading your badge pictures has been extended to Sunday, February 14th.
To upload an image for your badge, just log into your account on the NordicFuzzCon website, go to My Account, and select Con Badge. If you are already logged in, you can also use this direct link: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Account/MyConBadge or this for fursuit badges: https://www.nordicfuzzcon.org/Accou.....yFursuitBadges

Additional registration slots GONE
Posted 10 years agoThe additional slots have now all been filled. There are no more slots left.
The registration waiting list has been processed and the cheese from the great cheese avalanche has been cleared up (don't ask...), and it seems we have a few open registration slots left for those interested in attending!
A normal ticket costs 900 SEK. You can get a sponsor upgrade for an additional 350 SEK, or a an Aquarian (super sponsor) upgrade for an additional 750 SEK instead. See here for more information about the sponsorship packages. You can also order a ticket for the FuzzBus for 125 SEK (but be sure to check the availability here), and you can add tokens to the dinner buffet for 140 SEK per token (which you can read more about here).
Note that these are attending only slots and do not include any kind of sleeping arrangements.
Are you interested? Then send an e-mail to registration[at]nordicfuzzcon.org to claim a spot. Specificy whether you just want an attending ticket, or if you also want any of the add-ons listed above. It's first come, first served. But you must do so before Monday, February 8th, at which point registration will be fully closed. We also won't be offering any on-site registrations this year due to the issue we addressed previously.

Charity for NordicFuzzCon 2016: Kottecentralen
Posted 10 years agoNordicFuzzCon proudly presents our charity for 2016: Kottecentralen! This little non-profit organisation works with some small and adorable critters, namely hedgehogs and squirrels. They help to rehabilitate them when they're sick or injured, so that they can go back to leading happy and healthy lives in the wild. Each year, they help rescue over hundreds of hedgehogs and dozens of squirrels.
Kottecentralen is working both locally and nationally. In recent years, some hedgehogs have found more comfort in urban territories than in the peaceful forest, which exposes them to great danger from humans.
In 2012, Kottecentralen won the «Miljöpris» (Environment prize) for Sustainable Development.
As with most non-profit organisations, Kottecentralen relies purely on donations and gifts to make their ongoing work possible. So we hope you’ll help us collect a little tribute to aid their amazing work!
For updates and more information, please see their Facebook page.

Registration closed for NordicFuzzCon 2016
Posted 10 years agoWe regret to inform that we will no longer be accepting any new bookings and that registration will remain closed. This is due to the hotel's fire regulations, as we are close to reaching the maximum number of attendees that the fire regulations allow for. People currently on the waiting list should have received a special e-mail with additional information as to how they should proceed.
While unfortunate, the fire regulations are there to help make sure no one comes to harm in the unlikely case of an emergency situation, keeping the emergency exits and the hallways from clogging up.
The hotel management did not expect that we would reach this size during the second year that they would be hosting us, and they had to double check the fire regulations with the local fire department. This will be one of the biggest conventions - if not the biggest convention - they have ever hosted.
We are terribly sorry for any inconvenience this may result in. We wish we could keep registration open until the intended closing date (February 7th) and welcome even more attendees.
If you have any questions, you can send them to registration[at]nordicfuzzcon.org

Name-A-Drink competition - COMPLETED
Posted 10 years agoA time has gone by since the well sprung up in the Atlantean depths. The old and the new gods left it up to you, the tourists of Atlantis, to find a name for the mysterious and dizzying liquid flowing from its source. Mausie, the Master of Cheese (and your bus driver), was appointed by the gods to make the difficult decision to decide which name was most befitting this divine drink.
He sat up day, and night, pulling whiskers and drinking from the source. When all of a sudden, he saw something fly from the corners of his eyes. A white paper, falling from the skies. Mausie stretched out and jumped, catching it. As he set his eyes on the written words, he knew he had found the wonder he sought.
WET FUZZBUTT! By Flookie!
A name most divine, most befitting the drink. Mausie ran off with the paper, and told the gods, and Atlantis rejoiced.

Name-A-Drink competition
Posted 10 years agoBy magic of gods old and new, a well has sprung up in the depths of Atlantis. It cannot be water that flows from its source, for if you devour enough of it, your vision will blur and your head will spin. The gods have left it up to you, tourists of Atlantis, to name this mysterious, tasty liquid.
To participate in this contest, you need to be logged in at the NordicFuzzCon website. From there, you navigate to My Account and scroll to the bottom of the page. Participants are allowed two suggestions each.
Suggestions that are deemed too outrageous, silly, or otherwise misfitting will be screened and removed from the pool of suggestions. The name's charm ought to last longer than its initial impact, as befitting a divine drink.
Name suggestions must be submitted before 2016, so no later than New Year's Eve. The winning suggestion will be revealed on January 2nd, and will be announced on our forum, on the NordicFuzzCon website, and on Twitter. During the convention it will be on the official drink's menu at the bar.
With all the formalities said and done, do have fun with it! A little bit of, you know, subtle naughtiness never hurt anybody, right?

The Media & PR department is looking for new fuzz!
Posted 10 years agoThe Media & PR department of NordicFuzzCon is looking for talented and eager recruits. The department is mainly responsible for making sure people take notice of the convention (in a good way!) and for relaying messages from the various internal departments to the public. It's a busy department which practically covers all facets of the convention and there's always something to be done.
For this department we are looking for someone who is:
• Creative.
• Fluent in written English (Swedish is a bonus, but not necessary).
• Able to do work on fairly short notice.
• Computer savvy enough to handle BB codes on Fur Affinity.
Tasks may include the following (and more):
• Writing, editing, and proof reading texts.
• Posting to social media channels.
• Coming up with innovative PR ideas.
Does this sound like a job for you? Send us an e-mail to media@nordicfuzzcon.org and let us know why you are the right fox/wolf/whatever for the position! Please include same samples or links to your previous writings (preferably non-fiction) and include anything else you might think is relevant. As part of the NordicFuzzCon team, you will get the opportunity to take an active part in Scandinavia's largest furry convention and help form its future.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Our second hotel: Hotel Nynäsgården
Posted 10 years agoDue to the high demand for rooms at our main venue, we have secured a second hotel to house our fuzzy guests: Hotel Nynäsgården (http://www.nynasgarden.se/).
The hotel is only a leisurely 10 minute walk away from the main hotel (850 meters), and of course the FuzzBus will be stopping there on all arrival and departure days. All room reservations include a daily breakfast buffet, WiFi internet access, and free parking. As with our main venue, the hotel will see a few decorational touches to help give it that magical convention atmosphere.
For more information about the hotel, prices, and how to book, please go here:

As with our main venue, the hotel will see a few decorational touches to help give it that magical convention atmosphere.

For 2016 we are also introducing SUPER early arrival! This means you will arrive at the convention one day before the normal early arrival day. Perfect for those who want an extra day to settle in, meet friends, do some sightseeing, and get started on the fun as soon as possible. We will also be offering some activities on the evening of the early arrival day. If you order all options at once you qualify for our extra-long room package, saving you a total of 300 SEK! That leaves you with more money for surströmming, IKEA shelves, and vintage julmust.
