Monthly Midnight Gatherings

Hey there, I got some new from
that I am posting here. This is in regards to his monthly midnight gathering for May.

I am moving the
monthly hangout to Sunday May 10 INSTEAD of the "First Friday". This is because the Festival of Nations is happening the weekend of the 1st, and I will be down at the St Paul RiverCentre convention hall Wed-Sun 7am - 10pm.
We also talked about doing a more fun activity, suiting in the park here by the house, and we wanted to do it before the weather warms up too much. So.......

WHERE: Usual...Tek's House in Coon Rapids
TIME FRAME: 12:00p - 6:00
FURSUITS: YES! Bring suits. We will go play in the park, unless it's really gross, rainy, etc.

FOOD: POT LUCK - Plan on grilling/BBQ and please bring something substantial. Ping me and let me know what you want to bring so we don't get too much of the same thing
NOTE: There is also plenty of space in the park for activities...Kites, Frisbees, roller skating paths, basketball, and a small baseball diamond. We'll probably get a lot of the neighborhood kids in the park too, it seems to keep pretty busy on a nice day

The Caribou Coffee Gathering

The warm temperatures are moving in and we are finally able to migrate outside versus sitting around tables indoors. Come on by, stay a while, order a nice cold beverage, play some hacky sack, and hang out with good company!
Afterwards we all go to AppleBee's or another venue to get some good food in and more socializing before calling it a night.
NSF presents the Caribou Coffee Gathering in Hopkins. This is taking place at our usual Caribou location across the street from Perkins.

Picking up the Pace

Hey there...It's been a little over a month now, and our FA page has been a tad quiet. We hope that everyone in the community has been doing good and that you are enjoying Spring so far.
Aside from the reoccurring events of Tuesday's coffee gatherings and
's monthly midnight gatherings the first Friday of each month, we need to get some more events out of the box...Some of our other neighboring states are doing some meetups as well as
at the end of this month.
I am hosting a sushi event the start of April, so I will have an official post up on that next week sometime...I also plan to cross-advertise as well.
If anyone wants to plan and launch an event, please let me know!

Mall Hangouts

At the end of January I hosted an evening mall hangout at the Mall of America. I decided to make these a bi-weekly thing and we would normally be having one tomorrow evening.

February Monthly Gathering Photos

For those that attended the NSF monthly gathering last Friday, the photos are slowly trickling in. I only have a small batch of photos so there will not be a high volume of them like in the past.
However, the ones that are up currently up I am going to be revisiting them...Due to the lighting situations with them (plus the others), I had to turn settings up on my Canon to get them looking decent. I need to play around with noise reduction settings more and other settings 'till I can get it looking as good as possible. Right now, the photos are rather grainy...So the new submission files will be uploaded tonight sometime.
Once all are up, they can be viewed here and elsewhere. For those that want to repost, feel free to do so and provide proper credit for any photo(s).

Discussions Events-related and Other

This is your Events Coordinator here and I have some topics I want to discuss. Before moving forward with said discussions, I have taken a couple of events off the Future Events section. I just do not think that I have the capacity to try and launch the events that were there...Many things going on right now and I do not want go burn myself out.

First topic I want to discuss is an event for Spring...I have been thinking about this for a while now and want to get some input from our community members. How would you feel about NSF having a Spring Picnic? From our attendance count at November's Holiday Party, I think it would be fun to have a picnic and see where it goes. Any thoughts?
Next topic relates to our Caribou gatherings during the regular bi-weekly meets that MNFurs has. I think it is best to stick with our routine of coffee and then AppleBee's and/or Red Robin. Is this okay to everyone else? I inquire because I know every once and a while we try something different (ex. Streetz across from Caribou).
Finally, on an off-topic discussion, does anyone know of someone who makes good banners? An idea came to mind on getting a NSF banner.

Holiday Party Logistics - FINAL PHASE

This is the final phase journal for the Holiday Party.
In this journal I will briefly talk about where to change when getting in fursuit, final reminders, and the countdown.

For fursuit changing,
will be bringing in some wall-like backdrops. These will be put up in a corner of our reserved room and that will be the designated area for fursuit changing. Alongside changing, we will have a box fan or two in there for cooling off.

In this journal I will be discussing the gift exchange game, donations, item requests, & volunteers
Like the last journal, it will be more summed up (to the point)...

First up, we have the the gift exchange game. This was done by
last year at the MNFurs Holiday Party. I want to bring this fun activity to our Holiday Party. Below is a Dropbox link to the requirements and how to play.

Next up, there will be a donations jar at one of the tables in our reserved room. This event cost an amount so any donations towards this will be appreciated. You can donate $1, $5, $10, whatever you want.
Third topic deals with item requests...The venue is going to supply us with some round tables for eating and a couple to place food items on. Chairs will be provided as well. I do have a couple requests though for some attendees if they wish.

Holiday Party Logistics - Phase 2

First off, this journal will be more to the point (summed up) and not TL;DR
In this next journal I want to talk about a five things...These will relate to the rules I have setup for the party, the venue-specific rules, ice rink admissions, activities, and fursuit changing area.

Firstly, with each party, there are rules. These rules exist because they represent a level of structure. These rules also exist because I do not want anything negative or harmful happen to our attendees. Below is a shared Dropbox link to the rules I have composed.

Second portion relates to the rules specifically set by the venue. Each banquet room at The Oval has a universal Room Usage Policy and it needs to be respected as we are all guests. Below is a link to the official website outlining the rules.

Third portion is about the activities that will be happening at the holiday party. One of the main activities will be a big gift exchange. It will be the same as the one
did the previous year at the MNFurs Holiday Party. Also, instead of putting a whole itinerary together, I have decided to let all of our attendees create their own fun. Another activity attendees can participate in is ice skating in the outside rink...This now goes into the next portion of my journal.
Next up...I spoke to the manager with The Oval and I have some awesome news to share about the outside ice rink. With our room reservation, we get a major discount on admission for the rink. For those that want ice skate, the admission is $4.00 and to rent skates is $3.00. However, in order to receive this discount, attendees must tell the desk that we are with the big group in the Fireside Room...If you do not tell them this, you will have to pay the normal admission price. More information about the ice rink pricing can be viewed in the link below.
Also as a side note, please do not ice skate in fursuit...Be safe!

In this last portion, I want to talk about the fursuit changing area. The room is big enough where we can setup a changing area in one of the corners.
has agreed to bring along his wall-like backdrops to create a changing area. I have one box fan that I will bring that we can have plugged in within the changing area.
