It's canon, folks. Jaxx and Demon are makin' babies.

Would anyone care if I opened cheap sketch commissions?
Posted 13 years agoLike, $5 cheap.
I would show you a bunch of examples, but as I only have Sketchbook Pro at the moment, and SB doesn't let me open more than one window at a time, so it's relatively difficult to actually create a massive sketchdump of everything I've been doing lately. I'm trying to get my hands on Photoshop so I can fix this problem, but still.
For the time being, here are some outside links:
MLP gang
A bunny and some Spindas
A pony commission
A genet head for Kei
Trying to focus a little more on anatomy this time around, so hopefully that's reflected in those sketches.
So, would anyone be interested?

Anyone interested in ponies?
Posted 13 years agoThis is sort of with regards to the pony sketch I just posted. I totally did it just for fun- I've wanted to draw Jaxx as a pony for ages now- but to my surprise, someone noted me almost instantly asking if I did pony commissions.
Well, the technical answer is no. But should I?
Jill, Mir, Zray and Trav- I already know what you'll say, your opinions are biased, AND NO, YOU CANNOT PAY! At the very VERY least, not full price. Heavy duty discount.
But to everyone else- would any of you be interested? If I can get two or three potential buyers, I can try out with a handful of slots for something like $8-10.
Please, let me know your thoughts. :D

YA'LL WANNA KNOW MY PERSONALITY!?!
Posted 14 years agoI'm not copying DaggerLeonelli...
... I'm copying Jeel, so that makes it okay. XD
... I'm copying Jeel, so that makes it okay. XD
Warm
You have a genuine interest in other people. You're a natural host, and are always thinking about how you can increase the happiness of those around you. When friends have problems or are in trouble, you're usually the first person they turn to for aid and comfort. Scoring high on the "warm" trait suggests that you are among those who enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't always say exactly what you're thinking; you don't like the idea of causing anyone pain because of your criticism.
Eh, sure. Helping others? Absolutely. Making the world a better place? If NOT treated the person behind the register like crap is making the world a better place, then sure. Enthusiastic about charitable work? In my head, I am- but do I actually execute? Not so much... I'm lazy at heart. XD And more often then not, I DO say what I'm thinking- I just have a better understanding of communication to realize what words can be used to better convey my meaning than most, so I make sure to speak my mind without rubbing people the wrong way. But I would argue that the "genuine interest in other people" thing is spot on.
Understanding
You are willing to take the time to find out what's going on with other people, especially if they're in distress. You're a good listener, you don't criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it's requested. With a high score on the "understanding" trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.
You don't feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.
Of course I don't feel the need to impose my standards on others- they're MY standards. MY beliefs and MY opinions. Ergo, they are not TRUE, no more than yours are true- they are MINE and yours are YOURS and truth is fairly subjective. I'm more than happy to share them with anyone that's curious enough to hear, and in doing so, do my absolute best to make sure I share them in a way that is as un-painful as I can manage... but thanks to the bad rap most Christians are forced to bear, sharing my opinions (even when they're NOT related to religion) tends to get mistaken for preaching. Look, so long as people don't try to call me hypocritical, ignorant, in denial or a plain bigot, I won't call you the same. Simple as that. I enjoy chatting about just about anything, but in the end, for me, it's simply nothing more than an opportunity to learn, NOT challenge.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
I do lie. I frankly think everybody lies, at least a bit. Most of all to ourselves. And I'm no exception to that. But I dislike it, and struggle with achieving greater honesty.
Empathetic
You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don't buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else's because unless you're happy you're incapable of making anyone else happy.
True dat.
Passionate
You are in touch with your emotions, and sometimes you react before you think. The good news: you don't tamp down your feelings. The bad news: you sometimes say or do things that you later wish you could take back.
You do not live your life on an even keel; you do not go for long periods without experiencing some mood swings.
Also true, but I also tend to overthink just about everything, so while it does occasionally happen, the chances of me saying things that I later regret is slim. I do DO things that I regret, though, but that's normally as a result of either procrastination, sheer laziness, or thinking something is a good idea only to realize later, in hindsight, that I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Eh... I'm aesthetic, sure, but I'm also quite practical. I'm the type that will go for the prettiest pair of $20 shoes that don't kill my arch. Functional, frugal AND purdy at the same time. A pretty picked flower in a glass can add just as much beauty to a room as an expensive painting or a lovely accessory.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
I'm just a curious little Alice.
Sympathetic
You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.
Again, not entirely true, because not all sad stories are created equal. I'm not the kind of friend that lets my friends feel sorry for themselves (ask Jill- I'm always delivering a loving slap-up-side-the-head to her <3). But to those who need an ear to bounce frustrations and thoughts on, I'm always there. And I'll give my honest opinion, too, whether that in their favor or against it. But nonetheless, I'll always be there for them. ILUALLSOBADKTHNX!
Innovative
You come up with a lot of ideas; if one doesn't work out, there's always another waiting in the wings. You often have interesting solutions to difficult problems. You're practically a one-person brainstorming session.
You are less interested changing the world than in dealing with things as they are. Unlike those who spend all their time trying to solve problems, you prefer to zero in on things that work and stick with them.
Oooh, I like that last statement! "Less interested in changing the world than in dealing with things as they are". I'm all for changing the world, because there's a lot that needs changing. But so many people believe that change inside starts with some huge fundamental change outside- like moving to a new place for a new start, or a new relationship, or a new job. As my pastor always says, the problem with changing these things is that you bring YOU along with you, which is ultimately the common denominator in every problem we face. I'm the kind of person that doesn't always like going out to a grocery store to shop for food every single day in order to bring a meal to the table- sometimes I just open up the fridge and work up some magic with what we've got. Certainly a principle I could benefit from using in my day-to-day life as well!
Creative
You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.
You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.
Well, I certainly welcome abstractions and concepts, but just because they're abstract doesn't mean I'll automatically credit them above the concrete. I just go with whatever makes sense to me- which, according to others, is an entirely different plane of "sense" than most other people around me. I'm not a 1+1=2 person. I'm a (1x3)/2 + (2x1/4)=2 kind of person. I just can't always see the direct and simplest answer. Gave my math teachers in high school absolute hell, let me tell you. IT MAKES SENSE IN MY HEAD, I SWEAR!XD
Commission stream spam again...
Posted 14 years ago... are you tired of me yet? XD
Streaming again to help raise money for my friend's vet bills. I've got at least one on the docket right now, possibly two, but if you'd like to help out by requesting a commission- or if you just want to drop by and keep us company- I really hope you'll drop by!

Charity sketch commission streaming tonight
Posted 14 years agoHey, all, just as a heads up, my darling friend Aivre from DA has a corn snake in sudden and dire need of some veterinary care, and she's offering $3 illustration commissions to help cover the costs (see journal here --> X). She has a lovely painterly style, and they're just $3!
To assist her, I'm going to do a commission stream tonight at 6pm PST.
Pretty much, you can show up, offer a ref, and I'll start sketching. You can also note me either here or on DA, and I can stockpile some refs to work on.
Sketches will be $5 (a discount from my normal $8), and will more or less look like this and this and this one too.
All payments to be sent to my friend's paypal, found on her journal.
Look forward to seeing you there!

Posted 14 years agoCommissions?
Posted 14 years agoI believe I asked this same question, like, a year or so ago. And the sketches I was trying to offer were crappy. SO, LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN WITH NEW SKETCHES, SHALL WE?
Cleek here
Those sketches. Up there. I've been offering them on Subeta, but I'd like to try to offer them here, too. Try and earn a little con money before this summer pops up on me.
But, the question is how much would you be willing to pay for something like these? Fairly rough sketches, but not horrible looking. I can try my hand at just about any animal except for that male human one. That's one tough animal. XD
I'd like to start offering these commissions after I get back to the States and re-adjust back to school and California living (the time zone... ugh).
BUT WHAT SAY YOU?

HAPPY TOTALLY BELATED CHRISNAZAA YEAR!
My Christmas/New Years was mostly spent missing the family, meeting new familys, and drooling over New Year's nabe, sukiyaki and... and... DANGIT, THOSE SPECIAL NEWYEAR'S BENTO'S WHOSE NAME I COMPLETELY FORGOT! Yeah, namely... food. What else? XD
I love how I really haven't written, drawn, done anything here since I left for Japan... and now, it's officially three weeks until I return. What on earth have I been doing during all that time? Watching anime and eating riceballs?
...
...
... yeah, well, sort of, but there was plenty of chocolate milk thrown into the mix, too. And karaoke. And shivering.
Aaaaand, that's all the time I really feel like spending, simply talking about myself.
How about you? How was your <insert holiday of choice> this last year? Enjoyable? Do anything interesting?
I've been getting a handful of watchers lately, for no particular reason that I can really see, but their presence has reminded me that there are a ton of fabulous people lurking around my account for some reason that I should really say hi to more often.
So... this is me saying "hi".
Think I'll go back to my anime for a bit, but feel free to drop a line anytime! I'd be glad to chat!
And about those commissions...
I've been contemplating doing them. And Mir says I should. And at any rate, I've been wanting a new tablet for some time, as mine is getting up there in age... What say you? Any thoughts on price suggestions, subjects, commission types to offer (sketch, bust, etc.), areas I could stand to improve on before demanding money from people for drawing them...
Anything at all you'd like to let me know, please, feel free to share.

Christmas Listy Thingy
Posted 15 years agoThis has nothing to do with that Christmas list thing that everyone has been creating. This is simply a public place to put up the list that such darling friends as :usermirzers: and :userzraya218: have been bugging me to give them. XD
And if anyone else has Christmas lists of their own, I'd love to take a gander at 'em. :3

The Library
Dark Burlwood
Tree of Books
Dark Rosewood
2: A visit from Mir
3: Doctor Who stuff
4: Any of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, HG, SS, or Fire Red. I'm all Pokemon-y lately. XD
5: FF IX or Spyro the dragon for the PS1
6: Amazon gift cards of ANY KIND so I can fill Del up with more things to read.
7: ARTSIES of ANY CHARACTER OF MINE! And I seriously need reference sheets for... like... everyone... because I have quite a few now. XD
8: RvB DVDs.
9: Kit Kats
10: Christmas Cards via postal mail <3
And neither of you are getting my Japanese address, cause I won't let you pay the ridiculous shipping. You both know my CA address anyway. SO THERE!

CHARITY COMMISSIONS ARE [OPEN]!
Posted 15 years agoAlrighty, ladies and non-ladies, these buggers are officially open!
Story: Darling BarkBack from DeviantArt recently lost her computer to a virus crash (if you don't know her, please do- she's the sweetest person in Louisiana AND she's a hella good artist). We're crossing our fingers that she can recover her files, but in the meantime, she's banished from the internet and desperately in need of a new computer. A group of artists and myself have volunteered to participate in what I'm dubbing OPERATION RESCUE TIEM in order to help raise the money to get a new computer. That's where you guys come in!
Commissions: For the purposes of this operation, I'm opening up four full body sketch commission slots. Slots are first come, first serve until they fill up (which I doubt will happen XD), so comment in this journal first to claim a spot. After your spot has been secured, you can note me with details. Pictures are preferred, refs are HIGHLY encouraged, but descriptions will work too. Up to three commissions can be requested per slot. Multiple characters are fine, as well. And as these are simple sketches, poses will be left up to my discretion- I really don't do so well when given a prompt and trying to conform a drawing to those specifications.
~~Will Do~~
Dragons
Canines
Felines (though I'm not particularly good at them)
Other quads I'll do my best at, but I can't promise the same quality. If I'm not satisfied with what I can come up with, I'll give you the option of accepting the sketch or taking a refund.
~~Won't Do~~
Humans
Anthros
PG-13+ material
10.2 billion accessories XD
Um... might be more if I think of it...
Payment:
Paypal only. And as these are simple sketches, I'll kindly ask for the payment upfront (in the case of large orders, half payment upfront will be accepted). The email address is operation.rescue_tiem@yahoo.com. And for the record, this is a new Paypal address set up SPECIFICALLY for this event- so all funds sent to this account go directly to Jill. Some artists participating in this event are donating part of their commission incomes, or simply making donations per request. But if you see that email, you can be sure that 100% of your purchase is going toward a really wonderful person. :3
Price:
I couldn't decide between $5 and $7, so I decided to cut 'em in half. So the final price iiiiiisss...
$6 for a single character sketch X (additional characters - $4)
If you'd like a specific background color for your sketch, let me know
Time:
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the fastest artist around. Add to that the fact that I've got four classes and 20+ hours a week devoted to work, and it doesn't leave me a lot of time to draw. But I'll be doing my utmost best to get these done in a semi-timely manner. Which means, you hopefully won't have to wait more than a few days at the least to a few days at the most to receive what you paid for. If situations arise, I'll make sure to keep you guys well informed. If you have a time goal in mind, please let me know and I'll figure out whether or not it's feasible. :3
Copyright:
I really don't bother much with this, but the only thing I ask is that I have the right to post the resulting sketch in my gallery as an example to others. Unless you specifically ask to keep your commission private, I'll assume you have no problem with this.
If there's anything else I need to mention, I'll update when necessary. Otherwise... YOU CAN AT LAST STOP READING! XDDD

Charity commissions
Posted 15 years agoANOTHER JOURNAL, OH MY!
But... yes...
A dear, dear friend of mine (my little Jilly Face) just recently lost her computer. Damn thing randomly crashed on her, and she's left to materialize funds for a new one. So, a few buddies and myself got the brilliant idea to round up a few artists on DA to donate sketch commissions toward our "SAVE THE JILLYBEAN'S COMPUTER FUND". I'm not exactly sure who all is going to be involved, but I'm pretty sure the lineup will include BlueShineWolf, KurnalBushyBrows, and PirateGirl-Tetra, all phenomenal artists. Not only will this all go toward a good cause, but I don't doubt it'll be hella fun...
SO!
Just trying to gauge a potential customer clientele over here, but would anyone be interested in $5-7 sketch commissions? I'll try to draw up an example sometime in the next few days to show exactly what you'd be getting, but I promise to make them worth every penny!
Once I get more information on who all's participating and more specifics about general pricing and whatnot, I'll post a new journal on it.
SOOOOOOO...
... any takers?

Would anyone care to watch me stream?
Posted 15 years agoYes, yes, I'm on the Livestream bandwagon.
And when I stream, I normally just tell my friends and we'll have all manner of uproarious fun and fancy-free-ness. But... I dunno, I don't have very many watchers here... so I thought it couldn't hurt to extend the offer to anyone interested. I'll be working on a trade I owed to a friend of mine ages and ages ago, streaming my music and chatting with whoever will be there. If you don't care to listen, you're more than welcome to mute me.
http://www.livestream.com/notlostwanderer
So... if you'd like to drop by, I'd adore the company. :3 If not... HAVE A NICE SATURDAY!
(unless of course you're more on the Eastern Hemisphere, in which I'd say... what is it, Friday or Sunday? XD)

Curious questions
Posted 15 years agoSome friends of mine have been bugging me to open commissions, and... well, I'm a little nervous to. First off, I'm a horrible procrastinator that only seems to draw when she feels swept up in the spirit to do so. Having art obligations makes me concerned that such a bad habit would NOT be conducive to a working commissioning relationship with potential customers.
Second, I still feel my art is horribly insignificant. There are still SO many things I need to work on, and anytime I produce something I like, I never seem to be able to reproduce that same quality. Consistency is something I strive for, but can't quite seem to achieve just yet.
But... on the other hand, I'M the artist, so I'm ALWAYS going to have issues with myself and my art.
So I beseech the question upon you.
If I were to open up commissions of this or this caliber, would you be interested? Or headshots or busts?
What would you pay for such things? $5? $10? $20? As much as it would flatter me to know how much you might think they're worth, I'd really like to know at what price would you seriously consider (if not actually commit to) buying one?.
Commissions are something I've always dreamed of breaching out into, but my cowardly self is unsure. So I ask it of you...
Oh...
AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! (for the third time XD)
