Its time for the last big meet of the year! I know there are usually a good chunk of places one can go for New Years EVe and Day, but I always host this for those who want ot party-hop or just dont feel like going somewhere else.
The fire pit is made, back yard cleaned up and ready to play ball in, set up tents in or simply enjoy the fire pit at night time or chill on the deck if gaming/playing pool isn't your thing. 30-40 seem to come to this on average, but there is 2 floors, garage space and some rooms on my half of the house to divide up into small groups if folks want. Being cooler at night now means I'll be much more anxious for time around a fire with friends long as not raining/snowing. I will have a lot of badges you can (and encouraged!) to use to help everyone know who is who. I have clips and pouches they can be stored in if don't want to stick the badge directly on your shirt. Please do not park at the school across the street, there are plenty of parking spaces available on my driveway and along the curb near my house and there is also the yard in case there is any additional parking necessary. Just be warned that if the grass is wet there is potential for your car to get stuck in it. I have tow rope and such to help yank people out if needed.
This is a non-fursuit event but you are welcome to bring ears/tails to the event. This is primarily a space concern as there may be a lot of people coming to this event (and may knock down my stuff!). Cuddling OK, but please keep stuff SFW especially in public areas. Not all are used to or comfy with PDA. There are three (3) indoor-only cats here at the house. Please keep doors and screens to outside closed to prevent them from escaping. I have a binder in the upstairs den area that lists a lot of the nearby places that deliver, or can go to for groceries or dining. There is a Harris Teeter, Wawa and 7-11 nearby for some snacks/drinks but please bring some to share with others. Alcohol will be present but underage drinking is not allowed and moderation will be heavily encouraged as we would love to enjoy keeping the house clean. There will be video games available, a pool table, 2 kitchens, a large deck and a few bedrooms available for people to crash. Priority will be people who travel a long way and those that want to stay overnight so as not to have anyone driving after consuming alcohol.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact me through meetup or at 'sirkain@sirkain.net'. I am also on Telegram and most every other messenger service out there.
(Due to Meetup only allowing one question for RSVP'ing, if you plan to come please observe the following host questions)
1. Do you plan to sleep over? If Yes, if you can pack a sleeping bag and pillow in case I run out of my own would be helpful.
2. Do you have any food allergies we should be aware of?
3. We have 3 cats here. Are you allergic to cats/cat dandruff? if so, would advise bringing medicine to help cope with it.
4. If you have some spare fold-up chairs, mind bringing a couple if have room? if you do, would advise labeling them so you know which are yours! I really could use some spares!

Hello everyone,
This is going to be a fun event. It is a Halloween themed potluck park event. There will be kickball and croquet and other activities as well. Since this event is a potluck everyone should bring something to share. This event is at a park and we have a nice size area for us. There will also be card games that I will bring for people who do not want to play any of the sport games.
Since this event is at a park and the park is slightly in the woods that means no fursuits for this event. Everyone is allowed to wear as much furry accessories as they want and are encouraged to do so.
If anyone has any outdoor games like corn hole, badminton, volleyball or similar, please bring them for added fun.

Come one, come all to the Wing Factory for an evening of Food and Costuming.
For this one night on all Hallows Eve we are allowed to Fursuit and wear Halloween costumes at the Buffalo Wing Factory. There is great food there as well should you not have a Fursuit any Costume (keep it pg13 please) will do (not limited to Fursuits).
With the participation of the Fursuiters and costumers I will need a bit of information however, currently there are 2 blocks of time that you can suit, it is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m to 8 p.m. collectively. You will need to let me know which block of time best suits you. In addition I would like volunteers for handlers for the event to keep the peace of the crowd, let me know in the comments section if you would like to help out.
The management has offered to promote this event for us a week out and as well if you wish to wear a Wing Factory tee shirt they will be provided which would help out the business. We also need to support the business as well so please do have a meal while you are there (The menu can be found here: .....ngfactory.com/), water will be freely provided without issues. I expect a lot of pictures to be asked for and or taken, please however do not make this a self-promotion media event as we are asked to interact with the patrons. We have also been asked to limit the amount of suiters outside to 2 or 3 maximum, there should be enough space inside as well for roaming and interaction. Any media (Pictures or Video) that is taken by the NoVA group individuals is for personal use, please adhere to media policies when posting anything (ask permission).
Please do not bring props with you, these could get in to peoples food and or on the tables which would not make anyone happy. Also this is around Wings and Sauces so be mindful of your tail and or suit as it may get sauces on it. I will have a space open for suiters to pose for pictures by the end of our reserved table, this should provide sufficiently for that.
Currently there is no headless lounge to change in and out of suit, please plan accordingly for this when planning to suit up. I am still in discussions with the management to see if any space can be allocated however better to play it safe in this. I will update comments when/if there is a space allocated for us, it being a working business however space is a precious commodity for them. If you arrive prior to 6 p.m. I should be there setting up for the group however plan to start at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. as that is the agreement with the corporate office.
I hope to see all that come out for a spectacular evening of fun, this is definitely one wing meet you don’t want to miss.
Sincerely,
Midnight
When: Saturday, 05 November @ 16:00
Where: AMF CENTREVILLE LANES, 13814 Lee Hwy, Centreville

Our most popular event is back! Come join us for a night of bowling, fursuits, arcade games, and fun!
Cover charge: $5
Cover with unlimited bowling: $23
To register and pay for bowling in advance, first RSVP on this page, then click here to pay the difference for bowling.
NOTE: Fursuits welcomed and encouraged! Do note however that there is no dedicated fursuit lounge or changing area apart from the restrooms.
Please do note that the payment model has changed - due to our size and the popularity of the remodelled Bowlmor/AMF Centreville, we will be fronting the cost of 6 lanes and offering unlimited 3 hours of bowling for $23 total (shoes included). Payments can be taken at the door but we need at least 20 bowlers registered before we confirm our reservation for 6 lanes. To offset the remainder of the cost, there is a $5 RSVP cover charge for those attending who do not wish to bowl. This cost will also go towards things like fursuit straws, prizes, and some free swag.
If you prefer to make payments offline, please contact an organiser to be added to the RSVP.
See everyone there!

-Tea Time v2.0, Bigger, Better and with 100% more Tea-
Join in for some jolly old fun and tea at my place from 3 p.m. until it ends (Whenever that may be). Currently I plan to serve dinner for anyone who attends but please RSVP so I may know how much to cook (See dinner menu below).
I do have floor space but it is on a first come first serve basis, please bring necessary sleeping gear as I don't have any spare sleeping bags, blankets or pillows.
I do have two dogs of my own and 2 from my Mom (4 total) so if you allergic to dogs then please let me know, I keep Benadryl on hand if you need it.
Food, Drinks and Tea are appreciated so bring your favorite of one or all to share with. Don't forget your tea cup (Coffee cup or other) and your Tea Ball as there will be loose leaf tea for having. I appreciate all donations, they are appreciated by one and all.
You are welcome to bring board games and there is a TV upstairs and movies available as well. There is a lot of parking space at the Metro Park and Ride lot next to my house, you are free to use it. The driveway will be open for loading and unloading of stuff and I'm happy to help out with moving stuff as well.
Tails and ears are OK; however, my dog's may investigate this, they rarely chew on anything other then toys but it could happen accidentally. My dogs do not chew on stuffed toys or puppets at all, they are trained to leave them alone. Any other questions please hit me up on Telegram and I will answer them for you.

My house is directly across the street from Brentsville High School. House is the left one onthe private drive fork. Lots of cars on the driveway/grass.

Other photos of the parking areas and deck and inside rooms are in this Dropbox folder - https://goo.gl/TYZ7VS
NOTE: My dad may be in town then (They are still dealing with issues with getting the Fairfax house on the market to sell). If they are here, one of the larger guests rooms will be used up by them. (They took the basement bedroom last time) And we will need to watch the noise level by 11pm so they can sleep.
Cuddling ok, but please keep stuff SFW especialy in public areas. Not all are used to or comfy with PDA.
There are three (3) indoor-only cats here at the house.
There is a Harris Teeter, Wawa and 7-11 nearby for some snacks/drinks but please bring some to share with others. Alcohol will be present but underage drinking is not allowed and moderation will be heavily encouraged as we would love to enjoy keeping the newly renovated space clean.
Poll: Future bowling event Costs
Posted 9 years agoWe know it has been a good while since our last NOVAFur bowling events. It's gotten petty popular (50+ attending on average now) and that brings up the issue of being able to get lanes on Saturdays (Their prime time) for our meets there.
If all goes well/we sort out the price issue we may have it on November 5th. But it isn't confirmed yet. Please vote at the link below so we can better tell what the majority feels is best way to handle this with options available.

This is a non-suiting event to take advantage of the cooler weather but also look at the different animals from the various exhibits. Furry accessories are OK but no tails as the zoo gets crowded in the afternoon and may get in peoples way.
Admission is free to attend for everyone although they do have activities at the Zoo that have various fees. More information can be found at the Zoo's website (http://nationalzoo.si.edu/) including how to get there via car or metro.
We will stay together as a group as best we can to make it easier, for people who come later, to find us. If you have any specific areas or specific animals you want to see please let us know in the comments below.
If you have not been to the National Zoo before, then here are some highlights: The Baby Panda, Orangutan Overhead Crosswalk, Petting Zoo, The Bird Aviary, The Amazon Rainforest Exhibit, The Big Loud Cats, and many more exciting exhibits.
This will be an 'open event' meaning you don't have to be there at 9am but that is when people will start gathering and then dispersing throughout the area. Also the end time is just a suggested time to leave as you can leave any time before then but if you plan to stay the whole time, then you must leave at 6 as that is when the zoo closes. As a reminder we will be eating lunch at the zoo, so either bring a lunch or bring some money to purchase food there. They have a mini cafeteria and some snack food vendors & stands.

FOOD STUFFS:
Executive Chef: Razor Wulff!
We're excited to welcome a legendry of furry cookery, Head Chef Razor Wulff! Best known for his "Razorsteak," he will be serving this delicacy as the main course for the night of music and fun at the Fur-B-Que revival! So, tell your friends, bring some sides and drinks, and make sure to bring an appetite, because if you've been to the New Jersey Fur-B-Que, you know better than to miss out on"Razorsteak!"
BRING AN ITEM TO SHARE AND GET A PERK!
Attendees are encouraged to bring sides to share with everyone at the Fur-B-Que event! We're providing all of the meat and some side items BUT you as attendees can help us out by bringing a sides, dessert, or drink to share!
We're looking for items that you might find at a family picnic, such as:
1. Savory snacks- such as family-sized bags of chips, huge bowls of Chex mix, variety packs of single serve chips, jars of pretzel bites
2. Mouth-Watering Sides- like huge bowls of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, pasta salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, etc.
3. Sweet deserts- such as pies, tarts, pastries, cakes, and cookies
4. Refreshing non-alcoholic beverages- such as cases of Cheerwine, orange soda, Mountain Dew, ginger ale, orange juice, and other sodas, or gallon jugs or pitchers of non-fizzy stuff, like juices, punches, lemonade and the like!
By bringing a suggested item or similar, you can knock $5 off your badge for Fur the More 2018 when you preregister on Sunday, April 30, 2017; or you can get $5 off any purchase at the Convention Store when you spend $10 or more on merchandise! (Limit one coupon per person; coupon will be given to participant at the check-in during Fur-B-Que with proof of item for sharing; coupon expires on April 30th, 2017)
Please be courteous to those who may have food allergies. We recommend labeling any dishes you bring if they contain common food allergens (nuts, shellfish, etc.).
Hope to see you there! -Netasha "IndigoAngelCat" Johnson VC Fur The More/ Fur-B-Que Primary Oraganizer

House - https://goo.gl/sL3Ewn
Where can/can't park - https://goo.gl/iZznjW
Other photos of the parking areas and deck and inside rooms are in this Dropbox folder - https://goo.gl/TYZ7VS
NOTE: My dad and step mom may be in town by then (They are still dealing with issues in KY that is hindering them from coming to this area for a few months). If they are here, one of the larger guests rooms will be used up by them. An we will need to watch the noise level by 11pm so they can sleep.
Will start later than normal because I will be busy before then helping

Please do not park at the school across the street, there are plenty of parking spaces available on my driveway and along the curb near my house and there is also the yard in case there is any additional parking necessary. Just be warned that if the grass is wet there is potential for your car to get stuck in it. I have tow rope and such to help yank people out if needed.
This is a non-fursuit event but you are welcome to bring ears/tails to the event. This is primarily a space concern as there may be a lot of people coming to this event (and may knock down my stuff!)
There will be video games available, a pool table, 2 kitchens, a large deck and a few bedrooms available for people to crash. Priority will be people who travel a long way and those that want to stay overnight so as not to have anyone driving after consuming alcohol.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact me through meetup or at

NOVA Furs Update - 7/6/2016
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone! Jet here to inform you all what we have been up to lately. I know it has been a while since we have come out with any large events, such as a bowling meet, but rest assured that we hope to put some pieces in place to have some fun in the future.
For starters, I would like to encourage everyone to welcome our three new moderators to the group: SirKain! Geenz! & Angrosh!
They will be helping both Rechner and myself with rebuilding the group and how we can get events up off the ground and running much more easily.
- Weekly Wing Night - Every Monday evening from ~6-8pm
Buffalo Wing Factory & Pub
13067 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax, VA
Meetup info: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/232369748/
(information will be copied for each week)
Come enjoy the many flavors offered while chatting with local furs! Non-suiting event but people have brought casual items (i.e. tails) and the business is fine with that. Please be mindful of other patrons in the restaurant.
Gathering at Sir Kain's III
July 23rd, 2016 - http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/231677357/
Address supplied on the meetup page along with more information. Any questions can be sent to

We will also be having some events upcoming for FA:U! It's amazing to think that NOVA has two furry cons now: www.faunited.org
So far, after discussing with the events coordinator for the convention, we have two panels that have been approved.
For Friday, we will have our now-traditional Meet & Greet. The idea behind the panel is to introduce the group to the moderators so you can put names to faces (we had ~30-40 people show up at FTM) but also allow us to tell you what our goals for the group have been, some minor updates here and there, as well as answer any burning questions people have.
Sunday we (at least me) will be hosting a Town Hall event where it's slightly more serious where we can have discussions about the group including:
- Why certain events make the cut and which ones don't
- What is considered to go into an event
- What some aspirations for the group that have been discussed but not realized
And finally, there will be an announcement at the end of the Town Hall panel you won't want to miss. The times for the panels are still up in the air as the FAU staff is working hard to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. If you have any thoughts/ideas about events for the convention, please let us know.
One last thing I wanted to bring up was some notes about the Telegram chat room. Its rules have undergone some renovations, and it has gotten better since the last pinned message was posted, but the group is meant to foster friendships and let people be who they are. The moderators and I ask that you please respect our wishes in continuing to be an awesome group for both newcomers and veterans alike.

• Cost: Free, but I do ask that you bring your favorite Tea along or biscuits to share with everyone.
-Tea Time- with Midnight the Tea man Border-Aussie..yah bad pun on Tool Time. Please join me for good company and tea at my place from 3 p.m. until it ends. I don't have any plans for dinner however if you could leave a note in the RSVP that you'll be past dinner then I'll see what I can do about food (Will Vary depending on attandance). I do have floor space but it is on a first come first serve basis, please bring necessary sleeping gear as I don't have any spare sleeping bags, blankets or pillows. I do have two dogs of my own and 2 from my mom visiting (4 total) so if you allergic to dogs then please let me know, I keep Benadryl on hand if you need it.
The evening may conclude with board games and/or watching TV or a movie. There is a lot of parking space at the Metro Park and Ride lot next to my house, you are free to use it. If you require assistance moving things in to the house for overnight stay please let me know, I'd be happy to help out.
Hope to see you there for a spot of Tea and great company!
NOVABowl X
When: Saturday, 07 May @ 16:00
Where: AMF CENTREVILLE LANES, 13814 Lee Hwy, Centreville
We typically have the lanes to the far left (Lanes #1 thru ...)
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/230398816/
If you choose to arrive early we may not be ready for you, so be prepared to wait or arrive at or around 4, please. We only have the space and lanes reserved for that specific time slot so If you chose to come and get some bowling in beforehand, please do so out of fursuit to prevent any confusion.
Also be advised with how you are paying for your games. There are two ways to our knowledge: post-pay and pre-pay. Pre-paying is when you buy a set number of games and then the lane shuts down when those games are up. Post-pay is when you play any number of games you want and then go to the register to pay for all the games that were played on that particular lane.
The issue that we had during previous bowling events was having post-play people join lanes with pre-pay people essentially wiping out their pre-purchased games. To avoid the same outcome, we ask that you do pre-pay only! We will have a master sheet so we can put you into lanes that have the similar number of people so you can finish roughly at the same time. We want to try and accommodate as many people as possible. We will set a maximum of 6 per lane but there will be a minimum of 4 people if we can so we do not waste the space.
Leave us a comment on any of our outlets if you have any questions or concerns!
Gathering at Sir Kain's #2
When: Saturday, 14 May @ 16:00
Where: Sir Kain's Place, 12016 Aden road, Nokesville
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/230422657/
Spring as finally sprung, and better weather is now upon us to hang out on the deck and enjoy time with friends, new and old!
This is primarily a space concern as there may be a lot of people coming to this event to celebrate.
There are three (3) indoor-only cats here at the house.
There is a Harris Teeter and 7-11 nearby for some snacks/drinks but please bring some to share with others. Alcohol will be present but underage drinking is not allowed and moderation will be heavily encouraged as we would love to enjoy keeping the newly renovated space clean.
4. If you have some spare fold-up chairs, mind bringing a couple if have room? if you do, would advise labeling them so you know which are yours.
Furries At The National Zoo
When: Saturday, 21 May @ 09:00
Where: Washington Zoo, 3001 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC
We will be near the metro street of the giftshop entrance by the Zoo sign
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/230399198/
This is a non-suiting event to take advantage of the warmer weather but also look at the different animals from the various exhibits.
If you have any questions, please ask any of the hosts or Jet and Rechner. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Post Furthemore Journal
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone, Jet here! It's great to hear that people had a good time at the convention and were able to meet friends and make some new ones. With spring here comes time for a lot of things to come with events and some changes within the group.
For those that missed the presentation, you can find it HERE and I have listed the basic summary below:
- Most of our members are in the Northern Virginia area but we have 13 states represented and 4 countries (Canada, Germany, Amsterdam, Australia) represented in our midst
- Odds are you are not the only furry living in your town/city/county
- The leaders and admins/mods do a lot to make the group run efficiently but it's not just us, we rely on our members to make the environment safe and fun
If people have questions about the heat maps I created please send me a note. I know several people want to know the specific furs that live in their region but there is an issue of privacy involved hence why no names were used
From the panel we received several questions that we try to answer. I apologize in advance if I don't have the questions verbatim
"Is there a database for people to find furs in their area?"
A: We have tried doing that in the past with a different journal but it rarely gets updated and we will not divulge personal information like that without people's permission. I have seen people who are okay with revealing that information but that is a person-to-person basis
"Why don't we have events at people's homes?"
A: While that would circumvent a number of obstacles such as cost, it becomes a problem because the host(s) do not know everyone that is invited which can lead to safety concerns both for person to person and for property.
"Why don't we rent out venues for our events more often (i.e. Zootopia)?"
A: Having a base cost for an event sometimes excludes members and myself and Rechner do not want to run the risk of being left with a large cost at the end of the event. Plus having to go to everyone and asking for their share can sometimes be an issue. We may have events in the future where we do tickets like Zootopia to members who front their base cost but it takes quite a bit of planning to pull off.
"Can I run my own events not sponsored by the NOVA Fur Staff?"
A: Yes! In fact odds are we can help point you in the right direction for any problems that may come up with your event so it goes smoothly. There will be times where we cannot officially sponsor an event but that should not deter people from wanting to socialize (i.e. dinner/movie meets) with each other
"Why are the leaders so serious in the group chats?"
A: There are multiple reasons but the short answer is "There is a time and place for everything." We have minors in those chats and frankly there are other chat rooms that allow for certain types of behavior. Please be respectful of the group chat rules.
(Not-so-serious questions)
"What is the group's policy regarding pigeons?"
A: They better not be around my car during meets, but apart from that I don't foresee a problem with them
"Can Jet do my homework for me?"
A: I can help with your homework and have considered hosting some sessions this summer for those taking classes. I normally charge for my services but maybe I'll have it go for charity and/or the group's future expenses depending on level of interest
"Did Rechner really build the Zootopia crossing sign?"
A: Yes, he loves working with circuits and finishes a project once he shows a large interest in it
With the presentation, it is also meant to be a call to action for those that want to help the community by being a part of the leadership team. It takes a lot of work to have it running smoothly especially when we hope to have more events running in the near future. With that in mind, I have made a Google Form for people interested in helping us out.
Some notes:
- We are not looking for just one person. Our member base keeps growing and will continue to do so
- You do not have to attend every meet to be a part of our team. Some of what we are looking for is keeping an eye on the different chats to make sure people are following the rules and that questions are answered when they are asked.
If you have any questions please ask either myself or Rechner
Finally here are some of the events we are currently exploring for the coming weeks:
1) NOVA Bowl X (ten) - it has certainly been a while and with the passage of FTM and other furry cons, it sounds like people are ready to meet up with fellow local furs
2) AWLA (Walk for the Animals) - Rechner did this last year to help raise money for animals in need. More info can be found HERE
3) Hersheypark - This is just a rough idea but this was done last year in early May and people had quite a bit of fun. Last year we drove up early in the morning on a Saturday, spent the day at the park and drove back that night. People got candy, thrills and quite a few plushies (oh my goodness skee-ball). For those earning plushies that they don't want might want to consider donating them to a convention like FAU coming up ^^. If you are interested in an event like this, shoot me a note with the subject 'Hersheypark' so I have a rough idea of who is interested so I know how many vehicles will be needed.
4) Mini-Golf - While we do not have any plans yet for a specific course this was a blast for our suiters last year. Rhapsie can tell you how much fun people had and we look to replicate the experience this spring.
5) Laser Tag - While there were complaints about our last laser adventure, we will explore other venues and evaluate our options. This will be a non-suiting event due to safety but can still be a lot of fun.
If you have an idea for an event please let us know. I wish I could list all of the ideas we have received so far but that's all the time I have for now. Hope everyone had a good weekend and we'll see you around! *waves*

FTM Panel Data Project and Call for new admins
Posted 9 years agoGreetings fellow furries! Jet here and after hibernating for much of the winter I am excited to see the warmer weather bringing the potential for outdoor events and activities. While we currently do not have any events scheduled due to some scheduling conflicts and large events (Zootopia, Fursonacon, Furthemore) happening around us, I want to take this opportunity to inform you of several new developments within the community.
For starters, I would encourage those of you who will be attending FTM this year to come check out our panel on Sunday, April 10th at 10:30am. There you can see the leadership team in person, ask the leaders any questions you have be it about the group or personal questions and you can meet other local furs to expand your social circles. You never know, there may be more furries in your adjacent cubicle *eyes shifting*. With that being said, one project I have been working on is a heat map to show the distribution of members across Virginia, Maryland, DC and other parts of the country. We will be using information from our meetup page to start, but that will create an incomplete representation of our member base. I understand that there are those who do not use the meetup page which is fine, I have created a form for people to fill out so I can include you in the map. This map will be presented during the panel on Sunday assuming I get all the information needed in time. Personal information will not be displayed and the map is designed to showcase where clusters of members are located rather than specific individuals.
Form for the Heat Map: http://goo.gl/forms/Vgg00pR1xQ
The other large development I want to share with everyone are the changes to the leadership team for the NoVA furs. I want to preface this by thanking Cheese and Rhapsie for aiding Rechner and I in making this group a safe place for people to grow and have fun and understand that real life circumstances make it difficult to contribute to the group. They will not be disappearing from us but rather taking a step back from being official leaders of the group. With that being said, we are now ready to consider other people to join our leadership team to help us run this growing group which is now over 300 members across our different platforms! I have made another form (yay forms!) for those that are interested in putting their name out for consideration to help me and Rechner out. As it stands, Rechner and I have worked together for the past 18 months in developing the group and being the community leaders have been tough challenges for organizing events among other things. If you are interested, the form is listed below:
Form for leadership consideration: http://goo.gl/forms/EIniesYp7t
Expect in the coming weeks updates regarding FTM, the leadership team but more importantly: events! We have a lot of ideas and it will take us time to not only work though each one but handle logistics with scheduling. If you have thoughts/ideas/comments, be sure to send us a note here about your idea and we will work with you to see if we can make it happen.
Thank you all and Happy Spring!

I will stay in the lobby area near the front doors until about 6:15pm before moving to the gaming area. Prices vary on games depending on the amount of credits you want to purchase. It will be a Saturday night so it will be a bit crowded but we will stick together as much as possible.
This will be a non-suiting event in part because I have not been able to get permission from the managers. However, I will be wearing my badge and suggest that you be on the lookout for people with badges and such.
If you have any questions please ask.

So Mother Nature decided that our previous date was not acceptable so we are trying this again. It certainly has been a while but I'm sure people would like to get out of their homes to see their local furry friends.
The issue that we had last time was having post-play people join lanes with pre-pay people essentially wiping out their pre-purchased games.

Excited for Zootopia?
Want to see it on a theater full of just furries?
Maryland Furs and NoVAFurs are teaming up to rent out an entire theater just to have a private showing of Zootopia.
We’re planning to have it at the Alamo Drafthouse in Ashburn, VA. On March 5th @ 11:00am. We will be watching the 2D version of the movie. I know, 3D is awesome, but some people can’t watch 3D for various reasons and we all want to see it together.
How much you ask? About as much as you would spend to go to the movie yourself.
Tickets are $35 each, and we need at least 40 furs to buy tickets to come.
What does $35 get you?
• Theater rental cost ($15/person)
• Covers movie Rental cost($6.50/person)
• $15 towards your food and soda order. (Required by theater)
If you don’t know what an Alamo Drafthouse is, it’s a movie theater with a full service kitchen and taproom. You can order right from your seat in the theater, even during the movie. Check them out at http://www.drafthouse.com/Ashburn

I will stay in the lobby area near the front doors until about 6:15pm before moving to the gaming area. Prices vary on games depending on the amount of credits you want to purchase. It will be a Saturday night so it will be a bit crowded but we will stick together as much as possible.

Star Wars Episode 7 Movie Meetup
When: Sunday, 20 December @ 12:30
Where: Alamo Drafthouse, 20575 E Hampton Plz Exchange St, Ashburn
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/226319022/
The Star Wars series continues! We will be aiming for the 1pm showing at the Alamo Drafthouse and it looks like they have some packages you can get your tickets with (https://drafthouse.com/starwars/ashburn). The movie is in 2D, but if you so desire there is a 1:30pm showing at the same location that is in 3D.
Do try to be there a half-hour earlier than the showing you want to go to since they are strict about people who arrive late to the movie. You may purchase food during the showing but nothing official will be scheduled before or after the meetup.
If you have any questions, please ask and may the force be with all of you (especially those who have final exams around that time ^^)

Holiday Dave and Busters Gathering
When: Wednesday, 23 December @ 15:00
Where: Dave and Busters, 6500 Springfield Mall, 22150, Springfield
This will be an open event so you may find us out and about. The times will be a loose start and end time.
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/227277452/
On December 21st, Springfield Mall will be having their grand opening of the new Dave and Busters location. To commemorate this new establishment in our area and also for people to have some fun before the holidays I thought it would be good to put this out there.
Prices vary on games depending on the amount of credits you want, but it is half priced games on Wednesdays which is another reason we have selected this day. They do have food and beverage options.
This will be a non-suiting event in part because we have not been able to get permission from the managers and also because it will most likely be crowded since students will be done with classes. That being said, be on the lookout for people with badges and such ^^
If you have any questions please ask us. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
Also as a PSA, the new Dave and Busters is looking for people to fill a number of their job openings since they are brand new.

Welcome to the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016! With renovations of the house complete, it is time to celebrate the coming of the new year.
Please do not park at the school across the street, there are plenty of parking spaces available and there is also the yard in case there is any additional parking necessary.
This is a non-fursuit event but you are welcome to bring ears/tails to the event.
There will be video games available, a pool table, 2 kitchens, a large deck and a few bedrooms available for people to crash. Priority will be people who travel a long way and those that want to stay overnight so as not to have anyone driving after consuming alcohol.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact me through meetup or at 'sirkain@sirkain.net'

007 - Spectre Movie Gathering
When: Sunday, 8 November @ 12:00
Where: Alamo Drafthouse, 20575 E Hampton Plz Exchange St, Ashburn
We will be in the lobby area prior to the movie starting
RSVP: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/226318853/
Some of us will be coming back to the Alamo Drafthouse to watch the next installment of the James Bond saga. One of the benefits of the Drafthouse is you get to reserve your seat for a particular showing so you don't have to worry about getting to the theater super early.
The showing is at 12:40pm because the showings for Friday and Saturday are nearly full and we wanted to provide an opportunity for furries to see the movie together. The meet is scheduled at 12:00pm because the theater wants people to show up a half hour early to take their seats and get settled.
Nothing official is currently scheduled for lunch before or after but we welcome suggestions. You may also purchase food inside the theater during the movie.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Here is a link to the calendar for the movie theater (https://drafthouse.com/ashburn/calendar/one-loudoun)

NOVA Furs have a T-Shirt!
Posted 10 years agoJet here everyone and yes, you read that title correctly. We have our very own T-shirt now! With the vote coming in we have decided to do the basic NOVA Furs logo with a little bonus. In order for us to print the shirts we need a minimum number of people to pre-order their shirts. You can either pick up the shirts at a future event from us or have your shirt(s) be sent to you directly for an additional $5. Please have your orders go through the link below as it will help us keep track of everything and we will not be accepting cash orders from people at meets!!!
https://www.booster.com/novafurs
If you have any questions for us about the shirts please don't hesitate to ask!
Also be prepared as in the next week we will be posting events for October including the trip to the National Gallery of Art and the Renaissance Fair in Maryland. If you would like us to broadcast your event please let us know and be patient with us as the moderators try to balance their busy lives with maintaining this group. With that happy fall everybody and we hope you enjoy our future events to come! ^^

National Gallery of Art Furry Field Trip
When: Saturday, October 10, 2015
Where: National Gallery of Art - 4th and Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC
Meetup Page: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/225055712/
DC has a great collection of art and if you've never ventured to the National Gallery or would like to return and need an excuse, this is it.
I visit the NG and the HIrshhorn once every two to three months and I try to invite interested parties when I plan ahead. So, I 'm inviting you, any of you. This is a nice excuse to meet up and veg out on some tasty art with fellow furs. There really is something for everyone that's why you should come and see. Ears and tails... It's an art museum, I can't say no however it's probably safe to say inappropriate but wear what you like. A furry T-shirt won't hurt anyone.
If this group remains small enough (which I'm betting on) I will offer up a ride for those few (max 5) people in my SUV into DC for free. FYI: I live right down the street from the bowling alley. And because we are so lucky most museums in DC are free. I will provide my address at a later date if there is a max of 5 or less.
The museum opens at 10. I plan to be there at 10 which means give yourself time to get there with minimal traffic. I am NOT giving a tour! I come here for meditation purposes. We are here as chums hanging out looking at art. If you would like to ask me something I'll try not to sound like a pretentious jerk and tell you what color you're looking at.
Time to leave the museum is at 5 or whenever you get bored. However, I would recommend vacating DC before 3:30 ish since traffic is bad even on the weekend. If you have any questions or want to know more details I'm probably your best source so feel free to ask.
One last thing to know ahead of time: Due to acid attacks and slashing offenders making their way past security in galleries around the world and destroying some of the finest works of art created by humans, the security guards in The National Gallery are real jerks and notorious for it. Just watch out, keep pleasantries to a minimum, stay 3 feet back from the works and you'll be fine. Don't bring water bottles or any container inside of the gallery. They have water fountains available.

Cool down this summer by hitting the ice! Public skating at Reston SkateQuest is from 3:10 - 5:10 PM on Sunday the 16th.
We will meet in the lobby and find a spot among the bleachers in the NHL rink when skating opens.
NOTE: Fursuit accessories like ears, tails, and hand paws are okay, but please be mindful how tails, etc. might hinder your ability to skate. Please obey all skateguard requests - you may be asked to remove accessories that pose a danger to yourself or other skaters.
Depending on the turnout of this event, we may try to book the rink for events (with fursuits!) in the future.
Please keep in mind that the rink is not open for public skating until after 3:10, so try not to arrive earlier than 2:45. You can also arrive any time after the start and jump in until the session closes at 5:10 PM as well, so feel free to come for however long you like.
All are welcome - Ice skaters of various skill and experience can be expected, and while I will try my best to help get newcomers out on the ice there is only so much I can do as one person. Just take it slow and it should come to you as easy as riding a bike =3

Whtie Water Tubing at Harpers Ferry
When: Saturday, August 29 10:30AM - 4PM (rain/cold date: August 30)
Where: Harpers Ferry Adventure Center, 37410 Adventure Center Lane, Purcellville, VA
Meetup Page: http://www.meetup.com/NOVAfurs/events/224608501/
Cost: ~$35
http://harpersferryadventurecenter......-water-tubing/
Either meet at our place (345 Whipp Dr, Leesburg) at 9:30am & caravan/carpool over at 10am; or meet at HFAC at 10:30am. We cannot wait for stragglers. Other carpool arrangements may be possible through the comments on this page.
MUST: Be able to swim; be able to paddle across a river with your hands; be willing to sign a waiver; have waiver signed by parent/guardian if under 18; have secure river footwear (recommended: old sneakers willing to ruin)
RECOMMENDED: SPF 50 sunblock (we like Target's Up&Up spray - on hands, then wipe on body); beach towel (over car seat on way back); bath towel (if planning to use our showers); swimsuit; light-colored t-shirt you're willing to ruin; brimmed hat you're willing to lose; head strap for glasses; change of clothes; be able to hike 1/4 mile uphill with tube after tubing; have breakfast and drink plenty before arriving.
Cost: Approximately $35 (prices on above webpage are not accurate). Make online reservation for self the night before the event when weather has been confirmed. Use promo code WALK5 to save $5 by walking 1/4 mile back to facility instead of using shuttle (see above). Rapids are class I-II (easy). In case of low river, may mean a bit of bottom-scraping, so participant should be strong enough to portage a little if necessary. We have two available luxury single tubes and one available luxury double-tube (couples); first RSVP & request, first-served.
River riding makes you hungry. Unofficial late lunch outing from our place afterwards; location & cost TBD, so be prepared for anything from IHOP to teppanyaki. For those coming back to our place after tubing due to carpool or lunch interest, we have two available showers for cleaning up (believe me, you'll need it).
For further rules and restrictions, see HFAC website.

Also, we were thinking of doing a run of tee-shirts with the NoVAFur logo, and wanted to get an idea of interest. We've been throwing ideas around and are thinking of going the way of a design competition, but for this to be successful we need to know how large of a production run to do to determine cost.
To give an idea of price, a run of 20 minimum shirts, front and back graphics would be available for $15 - $20 each. Any net profit would go directly to club funds and could be used to cover the cost of Meetup, long straws, booking events, or maybe free swag!
So, could you see yourself in some dandy little NoVAFur swag? Long or short-sleeve? Let us know by answering this poll (Meetup account required to vote) or dropping us a comment here!

A meet at the Flight Trampoline Park in Springfield Virginia. It would be 7/25/2015 @ 3pm and run until 8pm with dinner after at Ihop. Spectators can watch for free and/or play a few arcade games. Comfortable clothing and the waiver form unless you want to fill it out there. https://flightspringfield.pfestore.com/waiver/
No reservations required but it may fill up so people should buy tickets online if they are going to be jumping. http://flightspringfield.pfestore.c.....p/Default.aspx Here is a little information about the place. Okay, so there are trampolines…but what can we do at Flight…? You can bounce in our open jump field (over 50 connected trampolines), play intense trampoline dodgeball, do tricks into the air bags, perfect your moves on our bounceboards, get a grueling Fight Fit trampoline workout, dunk a basketball on hoops of different levels. You get the idea….
Also for spectators light furry accessories are welcome, no tails or similar if you are jumping.
Also after the meetup I can do it as well so I want another meetup made for the after dinner. It will be at Ihop in Springfield. Here are Google maps from Flight Trampoline Park to Ihop: https://goo.gl/XWWVgV

Harper's Ferry Whitewater River Rafting
When: Saturday, June 27 @ 10:30 AM (RAIN/COLD DATE: June 28th)
Where: Harper's Ferry Adventure Center, 37410 Adventure Center Lane, Purcellville, VA
Price: ~$35
http://harpersferryadventurecenter......-water-tubing/
MUST: Be able to swim; be able to paddle across a river with your hands; be willing to sign a waiver; have waiver signed by parent/guardian if under 18.
Carpool from event host's house is available, please arrange for that through Meetups comments.
