I need some cheese for all this whine.
Posted 10 years ago(I know I posted a small not-very-happy update a week ago on here, but I just got done writing this up so I wanted to post it here, too.)
I have been wanting to write some kind of blog/tumblr/journal post for a little while, as kind of a this-year-so-far review, at least work-wise. Its going to be pretty whiney, so be prepared.
Okay, so, this year was going to be awesome. 2015 began with me bursting with optimism and plans and ideas and positivity. Unfortunately TFF (Texas Furry Fiesta) in Feb was kind of a flop, for me personally. My sales were terrible, and I was horribly embarrassed by the AV team during my Closing Ceremonies charity auction. (They put the wrong artwork on the big screens, portraying me as an awful and inconsistent artist) I was mortified.
That aside, I was still pretty content. I was focusing on the positives like my awesome job with Wowhead. .. and then that came crashing down around me. I was laid off, from ZAM/Wowhead. It was no fault of my own, or my work, and I’m unable to disclose details, but it was pretty heartbreaking. At the time, I didn’t realise how much it would affect me, long-term.
I rebounded, forced myself to look at this as a new opportunity to have more freedom with my work (and I still see it that way), and to have more time for client based commissions, and all that. I made plans for an AWESOME BlizzCon Badge season, Glar helped me set up an awesome new order page, we figured out a new ordering process (batches, rather than one huge block), etc etc.
I had intended to take at least 5 batches of 20 orders, to give lots of people the chance of getting art. .. It is now September, and I only just finished batch 2.
My work drive, art mojo, motivation, whatever you want to call it, had plummeted into the negatives. It was a pretty major ‘funk’. The best word I can use to describe that empty self doubt sensation would be depression, I think? Either way, I felt useless. (it also sucks that I had a full group of Blizz badges that were going to be gifted by Wowhead, which won’t happen now. ): )
My plans for the rest of this BC Badge Season are minimal. I have a batch of badges for Midwinter that I am starting this weekend, and then a few to do as gifts and favors that I promised last year. I also have a few Blizzard ones to finish that I’ve started, and possibly a few others for close friends. But, I won’t be publically re-opening.
I feel like such a disappointment.
To myself, the community, my husband.
He supports me in doing the freelance art thing, this year I fell short. Our finances have suffered, especially with him getting laid off at the start of this year, and I know he has been frustrated.
I can’t thank him enough for how wonderful he has been.
Okay, enough whining.
I will still be doing the Badge auctions, with my fancy new frames for 2016. One Horde, one Alliance, and possibly a third Neutral? Not sure about the third one yet.
Either way, these auction badges will follow a format I’ll be using for 2016, in that the winners will receive a waist/hips upward portrait print of their character as well as their actual badge. I fell in love with what some of the other community artists have been doing, with giving people goodie bags and extras, so I’m joining in!
MORE POSITIVES? Well, I can talk about how much I love Blizzard Watch. They picked me up when I was down, and have hired me to do occasional work for them! They’re all wonderfully friendly and patient people, and have given me the chance to keep working in the fansite community. I can’t wait to give them all hugs in November.
I also want to take this chance to talk about my Patreon. I created it at the start of the year, and had been putting off launching it because I was worried no one would care, or think I’m dumb, or.. well, yeah. More self-doubt.
Finally, in August, I hit the ‘Launch’ button. I am so very, very glad I did. The support has been kind of life-changing. I went from a soulless husk to full of energy, the outpouring of love from the community has been so warming and wonderful, there really aren’t enough words to say how appreciative I am. I think it was the real turning point for the year, and I wish I had done it sooner. I’m very excited for the future of it, I want to figure out more rewards for patrons, and other fun stuff. I want to show and share the love.
As well as being very entrenched in Warcrafty things, its also known that I’m a new-ish member of the Furry community. I’ve been called ‘Furry-Lite’, I’m in love with the artwork and friends I’ve made, but I’m not ~deep~ into the genre.
I want to change that a bit, and get more involved. I’m going to be taking on more responsibilities for the next TFF, with working on Theme stuff, which is exciting! I’ve also been named as the Artist Guest of Honor for MFM 2016! (Memphit Fur Meet). I also intend to take more fur commissions, cause they are SUPER fun. :3
All in all, this has been a pretty poopy and disappointing year so far. But things are looking up!
I wanted to write up something for those still wanting to buy Badges, and were wondering why I screwed up so badly this pre-BlizzCon season. And, it helps to write things out. Gets it out of your brain.
Thank you, everyone, for putting up with me. <3 (and for reading all this drivel)
TLDR;
I’ve disappointed myself, and I feel like I’ve disappointed everyone else.
This year sucks, but things are starting to suck less.

Less-than-positive update
Posted 10 years agoMy previous very optimistic sounding journal entry, about how hopeful and positive I was about losing my job, and feeling great about the freedom and more freelance time, turned out to be a lot of poop I was spewing to try and reassure myself. That was about 3 months ago, and life hasn't been great since then.
I haven't been able to get as many BlizzCon badges done as I hoped, or do the extra commissions I wanted to, or even finish some of the awesome ones I still have on my plate.
Losing my job hit me a lot harder than I want to admit. I wasn't able to draw much for a while. The 'funk' I was in was heartbreaking. And that means income has been a lot lower, yay money troubles!
I think I'm over it, though? I've been getting back into the swing of badges, and stuff. I just have a lot of catching up to do.

Noxy-life Update!
BlizzCon Badge Season has begun! It is off to a pretty rocky start, I was rather unwell for a chunk of time in this first group of orders, and so I’m yet to complete it. I had intended for group 2 to open for orders in mid-May, but thats now going to be slightly delayed. (I hope to announce over the next week when they will re-open)
.. And then I got some pretty shitty and devastating news.
If you follow me on Twitter, you no doubt have heard that I was laid off due to ‘restructuring’. While i no longer work at ZAM, they retain full rights to all the work I created for them while I was employed there.
I loved, and still love Wowhead.
Over the 6 years I worked with ZAM and the Wowhead team, they became more like family than colleagues. They gave me the opportunity to work in the gaming industry, and craft the brand and forward face of much of their websites. I will be forever thankful for that.
My departure was untimely, and very upsetting. I will miss the people, the work, and the chance to share my work with so many.
A short while after I received this news, the lovely folks of Blizzard Watch offered me a small role working with their editorial fansite! So, although it is not much in physicality, its huge to me, emotionally. I am very, very happy to still have a chance to be involved in the Warcraft community. I’m excited to offer what illustration work I can for them <3
In my more Freelancey-type news, I guess this means I will have more spare time? This means I will be able to open up for more badges, and also open up for occasional commissions.
I intend to offer a waist/thighs upwards portrait commission, as part of a badge-bundle type offer for those that are not attending BlizzCon but still would like the physical badge and portrait of their Warcraft character. (prices and sample images will be coming when I’m ready to start accepting these orders)
I will also be working more on my Furry-genre type work, working ahead of time on badges, prints, and other goodies for Texas Furry Fiesta, as well as opening commissions in the future over on my FA account. I’m also going to be working on cute little things to put up in my Etsy store and more posters and nifty stuff! AND! I am working on setting up a Patreon! (on which I’ll be offering giveaways and wallpapers and stufffff)
Phew.
Its been a pretty overwhelming few days.

DigiSketch Commission Day! Monday 21st~ (Full!)
Posted 11 years agoConventions and life dramas are over, and the new badge season hasn't quite started yet, so I’m going to be offering something new! Some days I may stream these on my twitch channel, but sometimes I like to make mistakes while not-being-watched, hah.
Warcraft badge orders will open up later on, and I'm still doing some furry badges in the midst of all this, as well as working on lots of other stuff. Busy busy busy!
AHHH! Its TODAY! The first Digi-Sketch day! Depending on how this goes, I may make some changes on how I do things, like slot allocations, or numbers, rules, etc, so, we'll see!
Monday Sketchday!
Every Monday I will be selling small and sketchy coloured digital portraits. There is a limited number of slots, and I will keep track of them here in this journal (and also on my DeviantArt (DA) account, so two here, two there). I will be taking on this work and completing it same day, which means if you wish to take a commission spot, you will need character details and payment ready to go as soon as I accept your order (or your spot will go to someone else). To get a spot, post on this journal entry for today's openings, it will likely be a first come first serve basis. As time is of the essence, character complexity is a concern - for Warcraft portraits I encourage simple armor/transmog, complex details will take longer than I intend to spend on these pieces. I may alter the gear myself to keep the work within my allotted time frame.
Digi Sketch Commission Samples: [x] [x] [x] [x]
STATUS : FULL
Order List:
1- [royalsong -DA]
2- [coldlemonade -DA]
3- [sairo -FA]
4- [EmberIsolte -FA]
Price: $35 via Paypal - the amount of body drawn will be based on detail requested, hence some samples showing more.
Commissions will open at approx. 9am CST(GMT-6) on each Monday with a new journal posting.
If I have time, I will take a 5th commission, and this will be a first come first serve and offered only on my Twitter.
Note: No naughty commission requests! Pin up/sexy allowed, but nothing pornographic.
Warcraft badge orders will open up later on, and I'm still doing some furry badges in the midst of all this, as well as working on lots of other stuff. Busy busy busy!

Note: No naughty commission requests! Pin up/sexy allowed, but nothing pornographic.
Warcraft badge orders will open up later on, and I'm still doing some furry badges in the midst of all this, as well as working on lots of other stuff. Busy busy busy!
Monday Sketchday!
Starting the 21st I will be selling small and sketchy coloured digital portraits. There will be a limited number of slots, and I will keep track of them here in this journal (and also on my DeviantArt (DA) account, so two here, two there). My intention is to take on this work and complete it same day, which means if you wish to take a commission spot, you will need character details and payment ready to go as soon as I accept your order (or your spot will go to someone else). To get a spot, post on the journal entry for that day, it will likely be a first come first serve basis. As time is of the essence, character complexity is a concern - for Warcraft portraits I encourage simple armor/transmog, complex details will take longer than I intend to spend on these pieces. I may alter the gear myself to keep the work within my allotted time frame.

Post-Con Journal Post! -Update! (missing signups D:)
Posted 11 years agoUpdate:
I had this nice, awesome work schedule planned out for post-con work, and then I got an insane sinus infection, and a bunch of work from my part-time-thingy job! D:
So, I'm more than a little behind, but I have not forgotten about those badges!I will be sending out emails this week for the poker and charity auction badges, and also all the interest-list orders.
Another Update:
All emails have now been sent! If you put your name down and have not received your note or email, then the name/address I was given was incorrect. (two failed messages so far have been ouro/memo - I cant find you on FA to send notes, either!)
Texas Furry Fiesta was amazing. I didn't get to see much of it, being tied to a dealers table, but what I DID see was amazing!
Having never been to a Furry convention before, I really didn't know what to expect. You hear all these negative preconceptions from people on the internet all the time about a whole number of things re: furries, but my experience was awesome. The atmosphere of the whole con was fantastic and welcoming and open, no judgments, no aggression. One thing I noticed, gender lines were blurred, which is great! its an amazing safe place for all gender statuses and sexual orientations.
Anyway!
First con, first dealer experience.. I've learnt A LOT. I've made a whole bunch of notes for what I'll do differently next year. My prints didn't sell as well as I'd have hoped(so I have some to sell online), but ALL of my Art Show giant prints sold! Some for opening bid, and a few for buyout! Which was FANTASTIC! That made me SO excited. I was the artist that did the giant Sponsor poster, and as such I had some extras left over for me to sell at my table, but.. they didn't really sell very well. General Attendees didn't seem to want 'em, or just didn't see it up behind my table on the wall.
Next time I won't be making Badges at-con, only pre-orders before con for pickup, and maybe pre-order for post con and mailing. I'll just be selling at-con sketches, and maybe something else I've got an idea brewing for (minibadges! to clip on the sides of lanyards- I still need to flesh this out).
I found it so, so hard to focus on the orders I received and still be active at my table, greeting people, and trying to make sales. I was working until 2am on the first night, and was so exhausted by the second night I had two drinks and almost fell asleep on my friend. The last day was spent just catching up. So, yes, next time, I need to manage my time better.
I certainly felt wanted though, I had a little sign that said "I'm new, be gentle!", and people were so welcoming and kind. Both days I had Badges open for at-con ordering they sold out within MINUTES! People were at the doors for the Den opening to rush in and order them! So, on the last day I had a notepad open with a pre-order/interest list for people to write down their names/emails so I can contact them about online Badge commissions. Lots of people wrote on it!
More Badge excitement: ONE WAS AUCTIONED! During Closing Ceremonies! In front of .. gosh. I don't even know how many people were in that room. A BUNCH! It seemed very full. Over a thousand? Maybe? Either way, it sold for $300! For the Kitties of CARE. <3 ... and then Path made me stand up and wave to the room and oh god I was crying like an idiot.
.. So all in all, a very good experience. And I will definitely be back again next year.
FUTURE PLANS!
I've been busy with work since last June, making money for BlizzCon, paying for my husbands neurosurgery, then BlizzCon insanity itself, Christmas, then Fiesta. .. so I think I'm going to take a week off and play some WoW.
After that, I have ZAM work that needs doing, and I need to do the BlizzCon work that I had to postpone til after February.
Then, I will start working on all those Badge orders I got from Fiesta! Its a big list, but if you put your name on it I -will- get yours done! I will email out in the order the names were written.
..And then? I don't know!
Thank you so, so much all of you that attended TFF and made my first experience so very wonderful. <3<3

Texas Furry Fiesta !!
Posted 11 years agoJournal update!
I've been very busy preparing for my first ever convention, at least, first furry convention, and first time i'll have a table of any sort. It has been.. very stressful. I have had so many things to prepare, prints, badges, all the table props, all the legal/money junk, matting, etc etc etc, and I feel totally out of my depth. Today is Wednesday, and I am very much.. uh.. not.. ready. And scared. Very scared.
Anyway! I have my Dealers Den table number, and its #3! Right near the entrance, by Den Ops, and between CARE and Fox Amoore.
I will also have things in the Art Show! As this is my first time, i will have all new prints, that i have posted on here. I've gotten them all printed twice at 16x20, one of each for me go keep at home, and one of each for sale/auction.
There will be two smaller size prints of each for sale at my table, as well as custom badges just like those i've been uploading on here, and sketches. I wasn't sure what else to sell.. but i figured i'll use this as a learning experience.
Prices? uh.. all I know so far, is badges will be $35, the rest? No idea! But they'll all be listed on a whiteboard at my table.
I hope to see some of you there!
.. wish me luck!

OH GOD I FORGOT TO ADD A MAP, and now I don't have time D: But I'm hopefully not too hard to spot! I have a black and brown pawprinty tablecloth, and my name on a big stick.
And yes! How could I forget? The sponsor poster this year was drawn by me, and some of my prints are featured in the con book, and the calendar!

I'm new to this!
Posted 12 years agoI'm new to the furry world. I've been a freelance illustrator for many years, mainly in the World of Warcraft community. I have some good friends IRL that are furries and they have said nothing but good things about this art-loving community, so I wanted to dive in! The plethora of original characters, designs, and concepts are a goldmine for artsy-fun-times. :3
To start with, I'm uploading a bunch of pencil sketch practice doodles and stuff.
I'm still not sure what to do for a personal fursona- I have a deep love for all things equine, as well as kitties and japanese akitas.
Be gentle. <3
