Twitter has been my primary social media for many years. In fact, I have been on the site since 2009, and active on the site since about 2012 (mainly to keep in contact with people I met at my first convention, FWA 2012). However, due to recent changes in Twitter ownership, as well as the actions of the new CEO (HE WHO DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE NAMED!), I will no longer be active on that site.

Okay, I'm not much of a writer, so I'll keep this short. It's been something like 5 years or more since I've been active on this site, and a lot has changed. If you've known me on Twitter where I'm far more active, none of this should be a surprise. The biggest and most important change first: I identify as female, so please use she her. Secondarily, I changed my sona. Anyway, good to be back, and hello once again, old friends.

Today, at around 6pm, I am scheduled to take a bus out of Alabama, and I won't be coming back any time this month. Well, okay, it is the end of the month, and I'm only going out of state for Megaplex in Orlando Florida then coming back next week (which happens to be next month).
In order to save about $50, I booked two separate round trip buses. The first leaves from Montgomery this evening at 6pm CDT and arrives in Atlanta around 9pm EDT. From there, I wait until 12:30ish tomorrow morning to catch the bus to Orland. I should get to Orlando at 8:30ish tomorrow morning. From there, I'll walk (if the weather permits) to the LYNX central bus station to catch a ride to the Marriott near the airport. This should be about lunch time tomorrow.
This is early. Check in is not until 3pm, and registration is not open until 6pm. I ought to have plenty of time to meet up with you if you are there, and I hope to see you at Megaplex.

I was upset about not going to FWA, but I just realized that if I had gotten the bus tickets a couple weeks ago, I could have at least been able to afford a one day pass for Saturday (or at least to be at the hotel to watch the fursuit parade). I could potentially drive there, brave the Atlanta traffic, shell out the cash for parking, stay in a nearby hotel Saturday night, and drive back in the morning, but I have neither the balls to drive in that traffic, nor the patience to find parking!

Either way, for those of you that are going, have a good time for me! For the two years I went, there are a lot of good memories packed in those two short (yet extended) weekends, and I know that I'm not the only one who looks back so fondly on them. I want you to have fun, to party, stay fuzzy, and maybe hug a crowded elevator full of furs for me! Also, afterword, if someone posts a gallery of FWA pics, I'd love to see them and/or hear about this year.

Financial aid dropped me for being late on a payment. Normally I would get the paperwork, but I think this time I need to take a semester or two away to deal with things. Now that I don't have classes, I have more time I'm available to work and to gain a greater degree of financial independence. This also means, that when I am home I can draw instead of doing homework... at least after I get the job...

I'm not going to FWA or any other convention this year. Just so you know not to look for me.

So far as I know, the Montgomery area furry community seams to be isolated. It doesn't have to be. There are at least 8 attending AUM and a few more (that I am aware of) in Montgomery for about a dozen. If you throw in the rest of the River Region (Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka, ... &ct) who knows? I know we don't have any meets here and a lack of places to meet, but perhaps we could at least get a picnic organized or get something together at a community center. The point is, this is a realistic possibility. Fuzzbutts, let's make this happen! :3

PS: I've been toying with the idea of renting the Jeanette Barrett Civic Room in Wetumpka someday for a furmeet, and the near by civic center may be able to accommodate a small con. Just a thought, but it doesn't seem all that crazy....

FWA flew by this year, and I only have one more day left. Being the only con I can make it to this year, I must return to mundane life soon, and will miss everyone here at FWA. I am glad that I got the chance to meet another fur in the same general area of my state as me though. *hugs you all* See you all next year; it's been fun.
