Also, thanks everyone so far for the love given to me over the many years. When I started out with my dumb flash animations from skills that I learned in high school (of all places), I never expected that I'd end up with 10k+ watchers and thousands of favourites for something I did maybe two or three times per year. It's all really odd looking back on it, with the first animation starting off as a little joke among a few people in the 2Kinds forums (is that thing still alive?!). I know I also had millions of broken art-related promises so far, but as it turns out, I'm a lazy bum. Whoops.

My recent activity returned the good old request notes that are a little too hopeful for someone like me.

Now, I was wondering why I kept on getting them when I'm clearly an awful person and won't do them on time. As it turns out, I explained myself (mostly) on Inkbunny and not here, so here it is.

The gist of my problem is that I am extremely slow when it comes to making new submissions, so I end up getting more requests than I can do. I mean, really, getting more than one request every year is already trouble for me. So my usual goal is to fulfill requests that can please more than just one person. This mostly means no OC's, no super-description-heavy pieces. This is also why I don't take commissions; I know that I'll just disappoint people.

No, this doesn't mean you can't ask if I could draw something. It's just a little warning on how I'm too slow to be reliable.

Except I somehow managed to break the main scene, so it won't play properly anymore, but at least you can access all the assets and scene objects (conveniently shoved into 'scenes' folder in the library). I really can't be bothered to fix stuff from it if more mistakes are found, though.

I just ate like 3 comments and a bunch of favourites because I accidentally an entire submission the moment I submitted it.

I'm being greedy and now I'm trying to add multiple parts, probably involving gender switchings, but that obviously is going to need a lot more time to work and I might give up on that. At least something will be up sometime soon.

If only I could get better at drawing without drawing any more than a couple of times per year...

It looks like the only time I'll ever work on anything relevant to FA is when I'm extremely busy and can't possibly think about wasting time or relaxing. I have finals in about 5 days.

I still have hundreds of pictures that I can never seem to finish due to lack of interest/skill/time/whatever, but at least anything to do with Flash isn't too challenging at this point.

PS: Ignore the things said in the previous journal, like how I would have had something done during April or how the new upload is supposed to be a multi-part work.

Now I have a week's break, after 4 months of hard, hard work. If I don't have something uploaded to my main gallery in the mean time, I'm the most terrible person on Earth who should be thrown down on the ground, stomped multiple times with a boot, shot in the head three times, and then get all items taken away in Warframe.

Now that I've said that, maybe I'll get somewhere!

EEEEDIT: Somewhat regretting that I planned on doing a multi-part Flash. It's taking away from all the other drawing I do, and I have enough of other work already.

Work's been kicking my butt. And I don't really like my butt being sore, so I'm going to change that. Not while sitting down, though, my coccyx is being a dick these days. And the butt being sore, too.

Once I finish my eight interviews on Tuesday (as an interviewer, not as an interviewee), I should have sketches relating to the next main gallery stuff... before the end of that week. Or some sort of sketch, at least; I really need to have something up for April 1st.

Meanwhile, I gotta think up at least one bullcrap programming question that no one can answer.

As I said in the last upload, next one is most likely done in Flash only, no AE. If you actually liked my last AE animation better than all my other Flash-based uploads, tell me so; more input is always neato. If you didn't like the AE animation over the Flash ones, I'll just say I'll probably be better at it the second time around. I'm always confident that I can improve in some regard with every upload.

I'll likely try and make use of original characters, since I've never done so much with them. I did it once in the flash with the rabbit, maybe, but that was an Easter thing so it's not THAT original. It's an unnamed, generic rabbit anyway. It'd be a fresh break from all the copyrighted characters I've been making.

I'm most likely going to finish my next submission after the upcoming midterm, which is sometime near the end of October. If that happens, I'll probably try and make it Halloween-themed so I can pretend like I'm actually a timely person who can plan ahead. : D

For now, it's time for me to master C++ and Matlab within a week, because a particular job I want requires them. Sad story.

Generally, for sketch PSDs, there's an individual picture per layer. Layers in folders are likely to be a part of a set.

I don't know, I keep breaking my promises with how long I'll take to do my next work. I think it's best if I shut up entirely about the ETA for my next submissions.

I said they're WIP, but they're quite old. The top picture didn't even get colours until after 3 weeks since the sketch's completion, and the bottom picture had been... in that stage for months now. The middle is now done, so there's that.


Next upload WON'T have anything to do with Digimon, since I think I have enough of Renamon here. By saying this, I may have denied 1/3 of all the requests I got here in this website, so, sorry! I might even start taking up all the OC requests I have piled up, but as always, I'm always afraid I'll look like I'm playing favourites.

I don't actually know if I'll go back to AE or stick with Flash next time. I guess I'll have to wait for your reactions before I decide anything -- and also, bear in mind that the last submission is my first time making use of AE to animate.

After building up resistance against fire, for both my laptop and my fingers, I decided to fire up After Effects to get a personal experience on how it works. My mind hasn't changed from my previous opinion on AE (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2775206/) about how magical it is compared to flash -- in face of great adversity (ie. laptop spiking up to 70'C), I still managed to come up with some sort of a tangible output that's in my Scraps right now.

So the next flash, I feel, should be making use of AE. It should be a good time now to look through my giant pile of suggestions that I received during my long down-times. Hopefully, I'll get a good opinion from others and from myself on whether I should be continuing with Flash, or make a switch to AE entirely.

Next term (from May~August) I should actually, truly, seriously have enough free time to work on things. Since studying isn't one of my worries while working, I should have lots of free time whenever I'm home Guild Wars 2 might change that, though.

PS: I suggest that everyone try After Effects out. It's not too hard to get started on it, so you don't have to worry about spending too much time trying to learn a new skill.
Grab a random image that you think it's simple enough to work with, and have fun with it.

Removed:

a) Any sketches uploaded as filler material for my laziness/lack of time (eg. anything that just screams "HEY GUYS, I'M NOT DEAD!" despite the obvious rigor mortis).
A good example of this is that Christmas picture, if you'll remember. The only ones I kept are the ones I actually liked, despite being horribly sketchy.

b) Journals where all I did was whine, or where I wrote exactly one sentence.

Alright, I'm gonna say it right now: using AE to animate is even lazier work than using Flash.

You don't have to break up every single moving component of the body into multiple sections to start animating, and much work ends up being simple point, click, then drag. It really feels like someone went to the future and brought back the newest version of Flash, and so Flash loses in every way, quality-wise.

Now, I'm not complaining about AE being lazy in general; being able to do same work with less effort is a good thing. I love how the act of simple clicking/dragging can accomplish what Flash tries to do by having a broken section, tweened, skewed, and eased in/out to make it look as real as possible. Even the new motion tween introduced in Flash CS4 has the same limits as the classic tween, because it's basically easier-to-use Motion Guideline.

AE has some AMAZINGLY HIGH skill ceiling; it's like one of the easy-to-use, hard-to-master sort of thing. After Effects' lower-end capabilities can be seen pretty commonly around here (do ho) and they represent precisely what I mean by the lazy animating process of click-and-drag. Then there are some people who take the standard 'sex loops' and bring it up a ridiculous level, like Doujin circles Tinklebell and SLAVE/Evee:

I'm still reading the requests from the previous two journals, but feel free to keep adding more. The ideas that I actually end up taking usually meet both criteria of LIKING THE IDEA MYSELF and BEING A POPULAR IDEA, to explain myself further. Only the Class of Heroes submission had been something that didn't meet both those reasoning.
