kent state is trying to collect on the tuition they charged me for when my financial aid ran out. i, uh, obviously do not have $5k~ just laying around because i'm a millennial with a full time job living under the poverty line and the sole income for my family. i currently have ~30 days to either pay something significant on this (or all of it) or the debt collectors are taking the case to court to obtain a garnishment. the attorneys at the office have explictly told me it's easier for them to go through the courts to get the maximum amount they legally can from me each month ($500~) than to let me pay off a lesser amount over a longer period of time.
if my pay is garnished, the state of ohio allows 25% to be taken from each paycheck, pre-tax. in my case, this will be something to the tune of $250 every two weeks. i will absolutely not be able to pay my bills or my rent in that situation. or i won't be able to buy food. it'll be that kind of decision for the 10~ months it will take to pay off the $5,800 debt
everyone's broke! i get it, i am too. my credit is also abysmal and i can't get a debt consolidation loan because of that. this is the only option i have right now, short of bankruptcy (which also takes money, and time to do) so fingers crossed, i guess
goal is set at $6k because it continues to accrue interest during this time and i don't know what that may turn out to be. anything over what goes to the debt collectors will go to bills
i also have a variety of links, including commission info and my ko-fi shop listed on my carrd, if you'd prefer to help in that manner

General | Posted 6 years agolife has been life, nothing explosive. got a reasonably cushy new fulltime job in the sort of workplace i want to stick with for the long-term shortly after we had to move suddenly, so that's been awesome. my days are mostly made up of work, lazing around at home, tabletop gaming (pathfinder occassionally, werewolf once a month religiously), and naps.
life alterations
General | Posted 7 years agoIn a fun turn of events, the husbeast and I have to find a new place to live before the end of the month (basically).
Our landlord passed away back in August and we didn't know anything about it until late September. His sister took over his properties and doesn't want to work with us in regards to our rent. So she's kicking us out.
Two weeks before Thanksgiving.
In Ohio, during winter.
Of a home we've lived in for a decade.
So. It's stressful, to say the least.
I've been scrambling to find a new place for us, but either I don't meet the credit requirements or the income requirements (doubly so because i'll probably have to find a new job/s) or doesn't allow pets (a non-negotiable thing for us).
We have a gofundme going, if anyone wants to help or share: https://www.gofundme.com/help-ally-and-tony-move
But art stuff (aside from probably uploading inktobers from last month) is gonna be pretty nonexistent for awhile.

General | Posted 7 years agoTwo years to the day since my LAST one, omg.
I barely changed any of these answers.
Is there a new one of these?
How do you want to be addressed?
Ally, Alaina, magnificent trash animal.
Where are you staying?
Westin
What day are you getting there?
Thursday at some point.
Who will you be rooming with?
Uh, a whole bunch of people in a presidential suite~
Who will you be with?
Aside from the husbeast, who fuckin' knows. Hit me up on telegram if you wanna get up with me.
Do you do free art?
Depends! I wanna try to hit up the art jam, but it clashes with another panel we wanna go to.
Do you do trades?
YE
Do you do commissions?
YEE. I'm also aiming on doing Artist's Alley at least one day, hopefully.
What is your gender?
Female
How old are you?
Thirty-something
Can I talk to you?
Yeah! But, full disclosure, I'm usually busy as fuck during the con so please don't expect me to be able to hang out and chat for an extended period of time.
Can I touch you?
Not without my permission.
Can I hang out with you?
Depends on a lot of factors.
How can I find you?
By shouting about BuckyNat into a trash can.
Can I buy you drinks?
If I know you.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Probably not.
How tall are you?
Like 5'7".
How long are you going?
From Thursday to Sunday.
Do you like parties?
DEPENDS. Kinda more up for social drinking and board/card games these days.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Approach me and say hello or introduce yourself and tell me how you know me.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
WHO FUCKIN' KNOWS. There's panels I'd actually like to attend and naps to be had and stuff to buy. I'll be all over unless I'm in the Alley.
What/where will you be eating?
Shit, I dunno. It's been two years since we've been to Pittsburgh. Hanlon's is gone, so I can't grub on those delicious fries.
Do you do badges?
I do!
Can I look in your sketchbook?
Uh. Sure? It's probably not gonna have much cause I can't commit to a sketchbook before I end up buying a new one and barely using it.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Sure! Ask first, though~
Can I take your picture?
Ask! And if it looks good, tag me~
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
HAVE A GOOD TIME.

still alive + updates
General | Posted 8 years agoSo there's just....been a lot of stuff going on in my life lately.
I have art to upload! I've just been really lazy about it. I post almost everything immediately to twitter or my furry facebook account, though. So if you're interested in seeing stuff sooner than I get around to batch uploading, look at those places!
Secondly, my mom and step father are dealing with a plethora of health issues. My mom was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and, while she's had a couple surgeries to remove masses and she doesn't currently have to do chemo, she's got other stuff going on health-wise too. My step father has been diagnosed with throat/esophageal cancer and, from what I'm hearing, it's pretty bad. He's currently undergoing chemo for treatment in hopes that it will give him a bit longer (doctors said without it, he might get three months tops).
I've also been working my day job and, while it's part time, it's often day shift (8AM - 5PM) and, by the time I get home and wind down from the day (i'm a cashier, so i'm on my feet literally all day), I only have a couple hours to work on commissions before I have to get some decent sleep (or, worse, i work a close/open shift and get home at 11PM and have to be up at 7AM the next day. ugh).
So commission work has been slow going.
I ALSO took on....a few too many half body/booty icon combo commissions this last batch so I could make sure my utilities were paid and it's taking me time to get through them. But I can't take more (for that sweet cash monies that goes directly to my bills and rent) until I finish the ones in my queue.
I've also been doing booty icons in between, as well, for a little extra cash to be able to get lunch at work for a couple days or to be able to get a lyft to work when the buses don't run.
So, to say I'm overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement. x_x
I've been holding off on diving in to the two more detailed/intensive comms I have because I don't want to rush them.
I tend to keep my trello pretty updated, however (and you can shake your head at how much work i took on compared to how little time i have to do it), and you can always peek at it to see what's going on with stuff.
https://trello.com/b/3TcgGDIK/commissions-2017
I just wanted to give an update on what's been up with me! Especially since my last post was in March. x_x

General | Posted 9 years agoUgh, I hate even posting this, but it is what it is and there's nothing else I can do about it at the moment.
It's really frustrating and disheartening to have to do this at all, but I'm in a really bad place and I need help. My power will be shut off if I don't pay the electric company $1200 this week. I have reached out to local utility assistance agencies and, while I'm eligible for programs they offer, the electric company and the state agency is not working with them as they should be. I can't keep hoping that something will come through on that end, if I'm able to get this money together I can pay the disconnection notice and it will be off my shoulders.
https://www.youcaring.com/allyrose-745849
If you cannot donate, sharing is awesome!
If you'd like something for donating, I have lots of different commissions available and am always willing to discuss things that aren't explicitly on my Trello or price sheets! I'm grateful to all my commissioners who've bought art from me so far! Every little bit helps!

into the new year
General | Posted 9 years agoThis last year and a half has been rough on multiple levels. I'm hoping the new year brings better things to all of us.
I've gotten a lot accomplished, art-wise, over the last couple months, and I'm hoping I can carry that momentum into the new year. I haven't been doing much personal work, for a variety of reasons, but doing any art at all has felt good.
I want to do more STUFF this coming year. I want to try making pins, charms, stickers, merchandise! Finishing a fursuit for Anthrocon, maybe! Try to keep myself busy, motivated, and focused.

after dark art account~
General | Posted 9 years agoSo I figured, since I'm drawing some sorta-kinda smuttier things, I'd set up a secondary account for that. Especially since my name is tied to a lot of my stuff here! I'll still upload the SFW version of some things here (like pinups), but I'll include a link over to the other account.
Basically, anything that doesn't fall under 'General', I'll also crosspost there. There'll probably be some overlap.
raggedbreath
(also, yes, this means i'm willing to do more explicit pinups and maybe even adult commissions! just inquire~)

general update
General | Posted 9 years agoLife has been...going. Stuff going on, but it feels like I'm still kinda stuck in the mud, wheels spinning but not actually getting anywhere. Learning to deal with my mental state this last year has been difficult in comparison from how it was prior. I'm adapting, but it's slow and there's still days where I can't work up the motivation to give a fuck about anything and just want to sleep.
I've been hammering away at commissions and trying to keep taking them to be sure I've got work to do and some extra income coming in. Now that the weather's changed, it's been easier to work on stuff because it's not sweltering in my office (my house doesn't have air conditioning and is, like, a hundred and fifty years old). You can always check out my Trello for my queue and completed commissions!
I've been thinking about streaming here and there, I'm not sure if that would give me more exposure. I've been posting a lot on my furry Facebook account (feel free to add it!) because it's pretty easy to get stuff seen over there, surprisingly!
I still have a few leftover commissions to do from Anthrocon (i think a badge and an art card - the latter of which i have inked), so if you're waiting on those, I apologize! I have not forgotten you! I also want to get good photos of the leftover art show stuff I have from Anthrocon and post them up for sale, as well.
I've been thinking about doing some adopts now that I have waitress's most recent bases (from this last year, at least) - working with the templates is actually pretty relaxing and fun to do! Is there anything people might be interested in seeing? Themes, species, color palettes, etc?? They'd likely be more than just a single adopt image and more like a mini reference sheet with maybe a little personality blurb or a couple chibi outfits.
(unrelated, but i'm getting new glasses at the end of the week i'm so excited!!)

Commission Status
General | Posted 9 years agoJust a general note to my commissioners - it's been SO. HOT. here lately. Like, upper 80s/90s with a real feel of over 100F. My house doesn't have air conditioning. My office is upstairs and doesn't get a lot of airflow. It has been absolutely miserable to be in there over the last week and may continue to be as the hot days continue. I apologize for the delay in completing commissions, but when I'm sticking to the tablet, it's no fun to draw. I'm gonna try to work on stuff during some of the cooler nights, however, so I'll do my best to keep people updated as necessary!
I've also got some other iRL job stuff happening (a big thing! possible staff position within the library i work at!!) and I've been focusing a lot of my other time on getting my CV ready and also prepping the area I'm leaving behind to survive without me!
So, I've not forgotten about anyone, just oppressive weather and busy work stuff has had temporary priority! You can always check out my commission list up above and the trello links to see what's going on or if I've completed anything recently. You can also always hit me up on telegram with questions obliviousally!

anthrocon recap~
General | Posted 9 years agoThe weekend kind of did a bell curve in terms of enjoyment, but overall it was good.
As we were leaving town, our ride's car blew a head gasket before we even got to the highway. We had to get a rental car for the weekend, but thankfully the price per day was pretty cheap. We got into Pittsburgh pretty late, but met up with Cajunfox and his girlfriend (wife??), Cassie, and went to Sienna Mercato for dinner (which was EXCELLENT) with a friend of theirs (who's name i didn't get), and then crashed in our friend Lolo's suite for the night, since our hotel reservation was for Friday.
Friday I forgot to grab food when I went down to sign up for Artist's Alley and, after waiting to be texted for a spot, then acquiring a spot, I was HANGRY by 5PM and had to eat and take a bath and a nap to get back to normal. That night, we went to friend Lolo's speakeasy party and had a good time being able to dress up and socialize and drink. I downed a whole pint of high proof boozy rootbeer, threw my kigu on afterwards, and Tony and I went down to wander the convention center and the waterfront. I then slept VERY well.
My other annoyance Friday was that I felt the callbacks for the waitlisters for Artist's Alley weren't handled really well. I signed up when sign ups open (i only had a lottery seat for saturday, so i had to do the waitlist for friday) and expected that, if there were any empty seats (according to the list of artists on the site, friday already had empty spots) I probably would hear from staff in about an hour or so to come down and claim a seat.
Passing through the alley at one point, I could see there were empty spots and I figured staff was just busy. Around 2PM I drug my box of art stuff back up to the room, assuming I wouldn't be called at all today and that was fine.
At 3PM I got a text that a seat was free.
The AA closes at 5PM on Fridays.
Couple that with having ten minutes to come down and claim your spot, I couldn't rush back to my room and make it back down to actually have all my stuff to set up my table. So I ended up with what was in my bag (my sketchbook and pencil pouch) while I asked Tony to run up and get my art box.
It was more than a little frustrating and having people selling well next to me was a little discouraging, as well.
BUT, Saturday made up for it, as I made about $100 for the couple hours I was there (minus the time i took to walk the parade, but a friend sat at my table for me during that time so i wouldn't have to pack everything up). A lot of people took business cards and, while I missed out on making some money because I couldn't guarantee at-con delivery, I'm happy people were interested! I didn't encounter any hovering folks or any weirdos telling me about their dog wives or detailing out the genitalia of their characters, so that's a bonus!
The parade was nice, but there was definitely a bottleneck somewhere along the line that made filing out of the photo hall take FOR. EV. ER. I know there were 2,100 suiters and a portion of the parade had been lengthened a bit. I think it was mainly people getting photos on the outside portion and stuff like that. It wasn't awful, as I could wiggle out of my hands and head relatively well (i was wearing tony's tauntaun, jokull), but I'm sure some other people were pretty warm standing in the photo hall for so long.
Saturday evening we made a point to socialize with people after Tony took his old man nap and we met up with silivermoonwolf in the Zoo and bullshat, then went down to the waterfront and ran into more people (local folk, cajun again, etc., etc.). Someone through wet socks in our direction that we then realized were the socks of the same dude Cajun and Cassie saw earlier trying to piss into the river and, instead, peeing on his feet. He was wearing converses. They were dubbed 'PEE SOCKS' and Tony fucking lost it.
Sunday I could spend some money, since I made some money, and Tony and I went around the dealer's room and bought stuff. Now that I wasn't hangry and annoyed by the AA, like I had been earlier, I said hello/introduced myself to people who I'd passed the day before (specifically, onnanoko and lovewin), bought lots of stickers and pins and trinkets and Tony and I got a couple wyrms from hopefulmonsterstudios/Cruinndrac Farms (tony got a wyrm with the pitch black trait and one of the girls was encouraging him to register it so it could be bred to create nightmares, if i recall).
I sold four things in the art show, which was nice, but I had been hoping having some traditional media pieces up would get them to sell better. But oh well! I'm always happy with something sells.
The art show seemed a little sparse this year, especially the mature section. Not sure why, maybe folks are committed to other cons.
We stayed really late on Sunday and socialized a bit more with folks before heading out around 10PM. I crashed at some point in the car and my neck didn't like that.
Upon arriving home, I discovered that Deancat had slipped into the bedroom at some point before we left and, with all the mayhem with the car troubles, I didn't get to say goodbye to the kitties before we left (so that i could ensure they were all where they should be all all in the house safe). I felt absolutely AWFUL because he'd been in there all weekend. Thankfully it hadn't gotten too hot, but there was no food or water in the bedroom. Once he was out of there, he immediately ate and drank and has been acting normally since then, but I felt like a terrible pet parent. :////
BUT, overall, the con was good, even if a little stressful at times. I was glad to have made some money and hear people be interested in art stuff, too. I've added a list of Anthrocon commissions to my profile above (and also moved my iron artist sketch list up there for easier viewing, as well). I'll be working on those simultaneously. Hopefully I can get stuff done before the end of the month, though I do have a potential big job change that may be happening near the end of July, so I'll see how it goes!
I'll probably post up the remainder of my art show stuff up for sale later this week - I'd like to get it out of my hands and see it go to good homes!
I'll also be tweaking my price sheet (visually, not price-wise) and posting that later, too.

Iron Artist Sketches
General | Posted 9 years agoI figured I'd update this so I have a place to keep track of my list currently (and since the trello account synced to my phone is for work-related things).
I'm also able to do DIGITAL slots for these, as well.
Digital sketches means I can shoot off a rough sketch before refining things - I can't do that without it being a hassle with traditional media, so I'm offering the option!
You can get a sketch from me by using this form: http://goo.gl/XcJxTQ or by contacting me in general, I'm honestly not too fussed about it!
You can also jab at me on telegram about stuff, as well. My username is obliviousally.

iron artist commissions??
General | Posted 9 years agoI want to get myself drawing more and discipline myself to do it more regurarly. So I was thinking of doing iron artist sketch commissions (much like this or this) for $25 each. I want to aim to do four a week, since those are the days I'm home from work early and have the afternoon to myself for a couple hours.
I figure the biggest hurdle I face when drawing is actually getting something down on paper. Doing sketches is both easy and relatively fun and means I don't have to spend a ton of time also inking and coloring something and getting caught up in all the additional work that I think has been stressing me out.
I have one badge commission to complete - which I'll be doing this weekend (or getting it past the rough sketch stage, at least!!) and if there's interest in these (i'll probably aim to do 100 total, but not within the same timeframe that a traditional iron artist is done), I'll set up a google form for people to request them!

where to find me~
General | Posted 9 years agoI have accounts on almost all galleries primarily to claim my name, but I may start migrating over to other sites. I dunno. It's a lot of hassle to upkeep a number of things, especially when I'm only drawing occasionally these days, but FA's not lookin' real good in my eyes recently. So I'm tenatively playing around with uploading other places. I'll probably continue to upload here, but I'm also going to try to keep up with other sites, as well.
You can always find new doodles and stuff on my instagram, twitter, and tumblr:

My twitter is sometimes set to private, depending on how I'm feeling about what I'm talking/bitching about. But I ALWAYS upload stuff to my insta and it automatically crossposts to my twitter and my main tumblr (blackacres), which I reblog over to my art tumblr (obliviousally).
I also have galleries that are updated in various capacities:

a small note
General | Posted 10 years agoI haven't been posting much/gotten caught up on commissions (i think i just have one badge currently though) due to just...general life stuff. A combination of a still not stellar mental state + a large workload at my place of employment +++ possibly landing a PERMANENT job in a department connected to where I work now + classwork and midterms = a really drained and tired Ally.
I haven't forgotten about anyone/anything, I just haven't had the time to sit down and devote to drawing and stuff currently.
I'll get back to it soon, I just need some time to smooth things out.

badge comms + trades maybe??
General | Posted 10 years agoI'd like to start doing conbadge commissions to get a jump on Anthrocon (and so i don't end up possibly overwhelming myself with con-related stuff when it gets closer), any interest?? My standard digital ones are $30 each, but I'm also willing to price traditional badges (like these guys i used to do back in the day - they're 3x6 inches) or smaller badge-style (illo + name) comms like headshots and stuff like that~
I'd also kinda like to do a few badge trades?? Most of mine are a couple years old and I like to cycle them out because I can't deal with a dozen badges on my lanyard at a time! I don't have a digital vs. traditional preference or anything, but I'd like to be able to have the badge before Anthrocon at the end of June! Whether that means popping it in an envelope and sending it my way, or trading badges at the con! I'm happy to do either on my end, as well!
