Busy Life
General | Posted 13 years agoThings I have been doing:
✦ working like crazy at the bookstore on campus
✦ starting another on-campus job
✦ acquiring a second on-campus job at the library
✦ starting classes
✦ trying to make sure i don't have a mental breakdown
Admittedly, the above things are exacerbated by things I can't control (hey-o mood swings and oncoming pms!) and I'm aware of that, but it doesn't change the fact that I've been stressed/anxious/frazzled for the last two weeks. I know full well the symptoms will calm and pass in a week or two, my jobs will mesh together, and my bookstore job will be over for the semester by mid- to late-September.
That being said, I haven't had much time for doodling. I know I have a digital commission that I've been sitting on for longer than necessary (sorry, kallikai!) that I need to get done, as well.
The fiance and I just had to put out $600 on car repairs which, yeah, sucks a butt, but at least we had the money to do so. Still, I may take some commissions (not sure what yet, any ideas on what folks might like??) to help recover some of the cost.
In news that isn't me griping (which I'm really not doing, but it feels like it), I bought a Nexus 7 as a reward to myself for busting my ass lately at work and such. I really love it! Any recommendations for apps I should acquire? I'm really looking for a nice sketching app, but they seems to be almost non-existent.

Quick! Color Art Cards! $10!
General | Posted 13 years agoI feel like doing some small little pieces, so the first five folks who comment wanting one will get one of these! I might do something fancy with them, like back them with scrapbook paper or do some kind of cutouts, who knows!
I'll respond to folks after I take a nap~

Lack of Output
General | Posted 13 years agoI've been exceptionally busy lately. Helping squeeji and darkkenchild move in next door, helping them get used to the new city, dealing with 113F temperatures and a lack of air conditioning, running around a lot, barbequeing, busting ass to complete all my coursework for a summer class, trying to sleep while it's cool in the evening, enjoying the festival this weekend, and socializing.
Once the weather evens out, or at least cools down significantly, I'll get back on top of the commission I owe and the requests I wanted to do, as I do want to take a few small commissions once I get that stuff completed. I just can't work on anything because of the weather and my office is currently uninhabitable because it's both upstairs and had little air circulation. So it's been near impossible to get any sketching done. I don't want to stick to my sketchbook and I don't want to stick to my tablet.
Basically: I'd like for the sun to stop dry humping the Earth.

All Americon - Warren, OH - July 1st
General | Posted 13 years agoJust spreading the word that my hometown comic shop, All American Cards and Comics, in Warren, OH, is running a small comics/art/toys convention tomorrow at the Comfort Inn in downtown Warren. I know there's a handful of furries in that area (though I don't know who might be following me that is) and I'll be there bullshitting and helping staff.
If you find me, I'll doodle an art card for you! It'll be cool.
http://www.facebook.com/events/427115753966323/
P.S. I haven't forgotten about the last journal! It's just been like the sun has moved into my town and I've been sweltering due to 90F temps and a lack of air conditioning.

Taking A Few Requests!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, since my con crud is winding down, I feel like doodling a little. Nothing of my own is getting anywhere and I don't want to force myself onto the commission(s) I have at the moment until I'm fully coherant again, so I'm offering a few requests.
With a catch!
Comment with a character you'd like to see me draw and pick one (or two, though I'll likely only use one) of the following:
- pets
- halloween
- fairytale
- sweets
- travel
- winter
- random
Basically, I have a ton of scrapbook paper I'd like to start using. Like, A LOT. These pieces won't be awfully big, likely. At the smallest, an art card, at the largest, maybe 6x6. Just little things to jumpstart my creativity. I also feel like practicing more with traditional media - because I'm not all that stellar with it still.
Comment away! And don't feel bad if I don't pick you, I'm going strictly off of what characters I have the urge to draw - no offense intended if it's not yours! If I only get a handful of comments, I may end up drawing all of them! Who knows!
Bonuses to get me more interested in your character offering: PERSONALITY. I love to see what kind of personality a character has because it gives me a better idea of HOW to draw the character! Makes thing easier all around~ :3

Anthrocon Recap
General | Posted 13 years agoThis was another year we almost didn't go. Which seems to be most every year. But Squeeji and Elliot had a room that other folks bailed on, so we decided to take the other bed and help out. They got into town on Wednesday (I think) and we were all sleep deprived for over twenty-four hours by the time we got the animals all organized (we're watching their ferrets, hedgehog, and geckos until they move in next door), got the car packed, and made sure everything was taken care of at the house. We dropped Melanie (the dog) off at my mom's in Warren, then made the drive to Pittsburgh.
Got into Pittsburgh in the late afternoon, wanted to die after dragging everything inside our room. We basically lazed around Wednesday and caught up on our sleep.
Thursday, we picked up our badges (first time pre-registering; not standing in the reg line for an hour or so was amazing) and wandered around trying to find people.
The vast majority of our weekend was spent bullshitting with friends, fursuiting (well, Tony and Squeeji were, at least), eating good food, and generally having an awesome time.
We hung out with/talked to/caught up with/said 'hello' to: Rax (we were laughing so hard in the hotel room that security was called on us), Jevin, Ryan, Kelson (holy crap, we hadn't seen each other in probably close to a decade??), Mantis (OMG NEW SUPERNATURAL BRO), Silver (and we actually attended the dance competition, because he made it to the finals!), Inaki and Chyaah (who we haven't seen in, like, six years!), Pathia, Skech, Arphalia, and Talyn. THERE'S PROBABLY OTHER PEOPLE I'M MISSING BECAUSE I'M A BUTT.
There was virtually ZERO drama, which was pretty awesome.
I did the Artist's Alley on Saturday, but only sat half the day (and got two badge commissions). I just was completely unprepared, really. I thought I'd have time to bum around before they did the standby call and I ended up registering and being handed a reciept book! It was a surprise, to say the least.
Every year I consider a dealer's table, though, and every year I end up being lazy about it or putting it off. Maybe next year, though.
Maybe.
We didn't buy a whole lot really, which was a surprise. I kind of felt like everything was way too spaced out and I didn't get the chance to peruse a much as I would have liked. But we commissioned Mantis for a few things (which will be glorious when one is completed) and Tony got me one of RedCoatCat's cameo badges (which I'll get mailed to me). We bought some prints and won a piece in the Art Show. I also bought a Mothman painting Kelson didn't sell in the Art Show from him later on.
We ate exceptionally cheap, too. Almost all our meals were from Hanlon's Cafe, next to Fernando's (which none of us really liked). Their fries are amazing, the have a lot of seating, and everything we ordered tasted awesome. We also ate at Pizza Parma a few times, which is to be expected, since it's open so late.
Overall, it was a great con! I'm quite happy to be home now, though, and to sleep in my huge bed and cuddle with my stupid cats.
Now I've got the con crud and I've been miserable because it's been 90F here and we don't have air conditioning. x_x

CON OVER
General | Posted 13 years agoAnthrocon was pretty much awesome. I haven't written up a full report yet, but I hung out with awesome people, discovered awesome new artists, made awesome new friends, and generally had an awesome, drama-free weekend.
I sat in the Alley one day and I got a commission from a girl with the badge name Serene Arunia (I think). If anyone knows her, could you let me know where to find her/contact her at, as the phone number I was given, I didn't get a response from? I need a reference for the other badge she commissioned me and all~

Revised Anthrocon Meme
General | Posted 13 years agoThis is just a shorter/condensed version so people who are hunting for badges know what I look like and where to possibly find me.
★ APPEARANCE
I look like this but with hot pink hair.
★ LOCALE
I'll be staying at the Omni with keeperofdreams, squeeji, and darkkenchild. Unless you're someone really close or you spot me on whatever floor I end up on, I will likely not be sharing my room number. Hotel room is sanctuary to get away from the convention, not to draw more of the convention to it. We're coming into Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
★ SOCIAL
I'm old enough to drink and smoke, though I do little of the former and none of the latter. I like meeting new people and I like chatting about most things. I'm not a fan of MLP:FiM, however, and dumb fandom gossip also gets really old pretty fast. I swear a lot and I bitch a lot. If you're offended by bad words, you're probably not going to take a shine to me.
★ CONTACT
I do not give out my number to random people. My smartphone is out of commission for 3G service, but I keep the wifi on, so I'm able to get messages through Trillian (obliviousally on AIM) and I'm able to check +notes on FA and e-mail.
★ COSTUMING
I don't fursuit, but my fiance and friend do. I may play spotter for them when they're in suit. I am bringing my tabby cat kigurumi, Tia, however, and I may wear that at some point. Maybe.
★ ARTWORK
I like doing trades and I'll have my sketchbook with me probably all the time. I'm not so keen on handing over my sketcbook to someone overnight, however, unless I know them. I'll likely hang out in the Zoo frequently, so if you want to do a trade, that's where you'll want to look for me. I am also still taking badge commissions (probably until Wednesday at the latest), so if you're interested in that, check this journal out. I am aiming to try and get into Artist's Alley, but I don't know for sure if I'll get in until my number is actually called at the convention (I wasn't able to sign up for the lotto beforehand).
★ MISCELLANEY
Anything else, please ask. I'm polite enough that if I don't wish to partake in an activity, I will nicely turn you down. Please, also, don't try to hug or touch on me if I don't know you well. You may ask, like suggested above, the worst thing I'll do is decline.

Tag Badges~
General | Posted 13 years agoI acquired a packet of 3x6 (okay, they're a little larger, actually, almost 4x6) craft tags for cheap today and, I'm offering them as commissions in place of the standard 3x6 badges I do (which are on Bristol board and cut to size).
I know a few people asked for 3x6 sized badges - would you guys like them on the new tags or just on the regular Bristol? There's not really much of a difference outside of the tags being slightly larger and manila colored.
Also! I'm still taking commissions for pickup at Anthrocon (or just in general, really)~

Anthrocon Commissions~
General | Posted 13 years agoSince I'm unsure if I'll be able to get into Artists Alley, since I wasn't able to pre-register before the cut off date and sign up, I decided to take a few badge commissions and sketch (or ink) commissions before the con to recoup my registration and whatnot - which is why I generally do the alley for a day or two. Helps everything balance out!
So, I'm taking 5 badge commissions in two different styles:
Mini ATC Sized - $10 ★ ★ ★
3x6 Tags - $15 ★ ★ ★
(examples show bristol 3x6 badges, but there's not much difference between those and the new tags, just a touch larger and a slightly different shape)
01. Tanyar - 3x6 - done!
02.
03.
04.
05.
Badges are full color with traditional media and laminated with your name of choice on them, generally with stickers as I am pretty bad with typographic lettering!
I'm also taking commissions on 7x10 sized paper:
Sketches - $15 ★ ★ ★
01.
02.
03.
04.
05.
Inks - $20 ★ ★ ★
01.
02.
03.
04.
05.
Sketches and inks come in a clear, protective slip.
All items will be delivered at the convention - if you're going! If not, let me know and I'll happily toss it into the mail free of shipping charges~ Every order comes with a free mini-print (I have a variety and I can make a list of the ones I have available if folks like).
Leave a note if you're interested! And if my style isn't your cup of tee, by friend Squeeji is doing badge commissions for Anthrocon, as well: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3516618/

Anthrocon Meme
General | Posted 13 years agoHow do you want to be addressed?
Ally~
Gender?
Female
Age?
Legal to drink, fuck, and gamble.
What do you look like?
Average, not obese, brown hair, glasses -- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5966671/
Where/how can I find you?
I have no set plans. I'm likely to be staying in the Omni and I may end up in the Artists Alley for a day, but I pretty much do conventions totally spontaneously these days. I could be anywhere.
How are you getting there?
A mode of transportation called a car.
What hotel are you staying at?
As mentioned above, likely the Omni.
Which days will you be attending?
If things work out, Wednesday through Sunday.
Do you do requests/free art?
Maybe. If I like you or your character design enough.
Do you do trades?
I'll totally do sketchbook trades and art card trades and stuff! That is, as long as I'm getting something (art, trinkets, food, coffee, etc.) in return for it.
Do you do commissions?
If I'm in the Alley, more than likely.
Will you have prints, CDs, or merchandise?
Possibly mini prints, but nothing big.
Will you have Art in the Art Show?
Nope.
Who will you be with?
The fiance, keeperofdreams; the butts squeeji and her husband, darkkenchild.
What is your main purpose for attending?
Hanging out with friends, as per usual.
Can I talk to you?
Sure!
Can I take pictures with you?
I don't know why you'd want to, but I don't see why not, either.
Can I touch/hug/cuddle you?
Not unless you're a friend. If you're polite and ask for a hug, I will likely oblige, but please no glomps or anything like that.
Can I hang out with you?
Sure? But like I mentioned above, I'm kind of all over the place and may end up dashing of somewhere for shenanigans.
Do you go to parties?
Not unless I know folks hosting it or something. I'm not a big drinker and I'm not a fan of being around people who are drunk and obnoxious, either, so that often makes my party-going brief.
Do you fursuit/costume?
....kind of? I'm bringing Tia, my tabby cat kigurumi and I may have ears and a tail, but I doubt I'll be donning a half/full suit. I may be playing spotter for my fiance, however. But I don't know what he's planning on bringing, either!
What is the best way to reach you?
If you know me well enough, likely via text. I check the bulliten board near The Zoo often enough, as well, and you could leave a comment here asking anything in regards to meeting up and saying hi, as well.
Anything else?
I'm friendly, but I also don't take anything seriously.
I'm not a fan of Ponies and will likely try to divert conversation elsewhere if it comes up because, no, I really don't care about anything to do with the new show. I'll be happy to bitch about how they cut G3 down to the core seven for the show and how I'm pissed I can't get cute ponies anymore and the new molds are ugly as sin and I hate the style they're done in, however.
I swear a lot, I complain about the fandom a lot, I love stupid fandom gossip. I like talking about art, television fandoms I'm into (Supernatural, Game of Thrones, etc.).
I don't know, people tell me I'm fun to talk to, so take that as you will.

I swear a lot, I complain about the fandom a lot, I love stupid fandom gossip. I like talking about art, television fandoms I'm into (Supernatural, Game of Thrones, etc.).
I don't know, people tell me I'm fun to talk to, so take that as you will.

Quick Commission?
General | Posted 13 years agoI just finished inking two commissions I'm working on, so I thought I'd offer up another slot. I also wanted to be able to buy my mom something for her graduation tomorrow, but I don't get my refund for school until the end of the month (29th or 30th).
Price List --> http://obliviousally.tumblr.com/post/20317515158/
I'd like to take something digital ($30+), but the freebies are also included.

To Those Who Donated
General | Posted 13 years agoAt least, those from here who donated...
Could you lovelies +note me with a character reference so I can get things together for art card gifts? I don't want to assume your characters and then get something completely wrong or anything. XD I don't know WHEN I'll get these done, but likely before the end of the summer. I am taking two classes at college this summer, so I'll want to make sure I balance my time between that, art, and enjoying the season.
Also, if you would like your art card mailed to you (why the hell not, right?), please include your address for the card to be sent to~

I Don't Have Electricity - HELP?
General | Posted 13 years agoDue to a lot of stupid things and a lot of dumb things, I am completely without electricity in my home right now. I need $640 in order to get power back on. I have no feasible way to acquire this money and I don't get my financial aid refund for, at least, another two weeks.
I NEED HELP.
I am taking commissions (or here for combo deals), naturally, to try and raise some money. I am also open to donations via Paypal: obliviousally AT yahoo.com. I'll do free art cards for donations, as well.
If you would like PAID BACK for your money, I am absolutely willing to arrange that. It is much easier to pay back a person than it is to pull a lump sum of cash out of nowhere to pay a company.
I simply want to get my power back on as soon as humanly possible.
My biggest concern is getting the power back on so I have HEAT, as I have cats (including a sphynx), a lizard, a gerbil, and a dog. In the last few days of being without power and heat, I have lost my betta and my short tailed opossum.
I don't want to lose any of my other babies. The weather here (NE Ohio) has been fluctuating like crazy; freezing on some days, warm on others. Were the weather warmer, this wouldn't be such a huge emergency in regards to my pets.
I also do not want to lose the food in my fridge, due to it not having power. I have no way to cook food and I've expended just about all of the money I have on cheap fast food that or food that doesn't need to be cooked.
ANY HELP is appreciated, you really have no idea. Even if all you can do is link to this entry and signal boost for me, that would be amazing.
EDIT: Fixed the commission link. Herp derp.

Spreading the word because, y'know, if I don't I'm a terrible girlfriend.
I'm kidding. It would make him hugely happy and it would be really awesome.

Commissions?
General | Posted 13 years agoI've had no luck finding work since I finished at the bookstore last semester (I work there as a temp, at the end/beginning of each semester), and I need to pay rent for next month. It's $525, but if I can get together at least half, maybe I'll get some luck finding work within the next two weeks.
So, I'm open for just about anything. No porn, female nudity is okay. Sketches, inkwork, art cards, digital pieces, all that fun stuff.
Feel free to leave a comment if you're interested~

Ref Sheet Templates?
General | Posted 14 years agoHEY FRANDS
Could you fine folks link me any reference sheet templates you know of? Like, lineart of generic characters that can be colored to fit your own character? It would be awesomely helpful of you.
Please, though, safe for work images only~

Anthropomorphic Roleplay Forum
General | Posted 14 years agoSo....I'm making a furry roleplay forum.
I KNOW, I KNOW. IT SOUNDS LIKE A TERRIBLE, FRUSTRATING, AWFUL IDEA.
I KNOW.
But I'm doing it anyhow because CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Really, I want somewhere to play that isn't full of smut and badly developed characters and all that bullshit. AND I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHERS WHO WANT THAT, TOO. Because...seriously. There's not a lot of quality on any anthro/furry roleplaying places I've seen. It's really depressing.
This ( http://furrality.b1.jcink.com ) is what I've got done so far. No, I have no intention on the design being overly ~~~furry~~~, because it doesn't need to be. I have a good portion of the topics done, but I'm making a 'how to create your character' topic and I need to write up how species flaws will work and how they should be worked into ones character.
Worst case scenario, it's a board that only me and my friends play on. Whatever. But a few folks ona RP directory I frequent are interested in the concept, which is nice to see because folks outside the fandom will probably bring very different ideas and concepts to the table.
But, to those of you who roleplay (in any form, through any venue), do you have any suggestions in regards to this. Would those with anthro characters be interested in roleplaying there? Would those who aren't ~~in the fandom~~ be interested in playing their anthro characters there? Am I doing a good job of not making the place feel/seem obnoxious with ~~furriness~~?
(the answer to that one is 'yes', by the by~)
Opinions, suggestions, even complaints! I'd like to hear them. I just really want to create a place where people will LIKE to play their furry characters and not have the stigma of the fandom attached to it as heavily.

Commissions of all sorts open~
General | Posted 14 years agoSince I need to round up some money pretty quickly (to the tune of $500~), I'm opening pretty much all kinds of commissions. I don't think I've done this in a long, long time, either. So, uh, grab one while you can?
THINGS I WON'T DRAW: nude males, sex, fetishes
THINGS I LIKE TO DRAW: girls, girls, girls! nude girls! cute characters, fluffy things
THINGS I FAIL AT DRAWING: backgrounds, some species, realism
Prices depend on the size I'm working with. I have everything from small 2.5x3.5 art cards to 11x17 (or 11x14) Bristol. I have kraft paper, cardstock, scrapbook stuff, bristol, etcera.
Standard prices are for 8x11 cardstock and for full body images.
SKETCHES are $20
INKS are $25
DIGITAL FLAT COLOR is $35
TRADITIONAL is $50
DIGITAL FULL COLOR/SHADED is $60
Smaller pieces, of course, are a bit cheaper. Larger pieces are more expensive. The price isn't affected by the type of paper, but I only have certain paper types in certain sizes. If you're interested, e-mail me are obiviousally {AT} gmail.com. You can also leave a comment here to inquire about something, but please don't note me.
I prefer Paypal, but I will accept money orders.

UUUUGH
General | Posted 14 years agoI've been trying to draw, but nothing's been happening, which is frustrating because I feel like I'm going to NEED to open up for commissions of some sort as a situation has befallen me where I'm terribly short on rent money for next month and I have no other means to acquire income at the moment.
It's really frustrating, believe me.
Would anyone be interested in small commissions? Stuff like art cards and little scrapbook things to try and jump-start my drawing creativity?

Art Trades + Lack of Motivation
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I've been trying to draw, but it's been kind of frustrating. I don't want anyone to think I'm flaking on the trades I took, though! Just fighting with my art, is all.
I kind of go through creative 'cycles' where I'm really into drawing at one time, or really into writing at another. It can be a pain, but I'm happy to be creating SOMETHING, regardless of what it is. Recently, it's been a writing cycle and, I'm sure, by the time November and NaNo comes around, it'll leave me and I'll be left with drawing when I NEED writing for thirty days.
Story of my life~

haaaaaaalp plz?
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm gonna be THAT ASSHOLE and ask if anyone could hook me up with $26 because sdlfkghldkfghdklfgh NEED:
http://riptapparel.com
I get some of my money seriously, like, TOMORROW. I can throw the money right back at you from Paypal but HNNG NEED SHIRT and I hate RedBubble's prices, especially when I can get this one for $10 instead of $23 or something like that.
But Keeper and I are dancing around making grabby-hands and the $30 in my wallet does me no good on a Sunday when the bank isn't open and anything deposit I make isn't going to show until Monday.
Please, please, please?
