General | Posted 17 years agoI had to reformat my computers because I couldn't get CS3/CS4 to work. CS3 is what I'd been using, but it stopped loading up the other day. I spent THREE DAYS trying to get it to work, only to say 'fuck it' and decide to reformat and see if that helped the issue.
It didn't, still crashes. I had to go all the way back to CS2, which is a pain.
I also lost my file with all my commission information in it because I was a retard and saved it to my desktop. So I have to check and make sure I have all of it backed up here (which I believe I do in my commission information).
It's just a pain in the ass and I feel really stupid because I NEVER save things to the desktop and I checked its location before reformatting and I guess I just assumed it was in the place I needed it to be.
Ugh.
In other news, my hours are down to EIGHT. I seriously only have two days next week. So I'm going to try and get some commission sketches done so I can get things moving to take some more pieces. Plus, I bought a bunch of CUTE scrapbook stacks that are BEGGING to be used for something cute.

Living Situation + Commissions
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay, things have calmed down here. For those that don't watch my LiveJournal, the water bill DID get paid. Shockingly. So we're staying put for the moment. We plan on moving in the next few months, but that was planned before all this drama anyhow.
Still trying to push through commissions. I sent out a few notes to people about the colored sketch thing I offered a few journals back, because they may not have seen it.
I am still open for commissions, I'm just not actively advertising them. I'm probably not going to take on anything bit unless you're willing to wait. I have a few full digital pieces that are going to be a bit of work and I don't want to overload myself more than I need to.
But I'll always take on small pieces, like art cards and conbadges. :D So if anyone wants something like that, drop me a note!

Al came over and said the water company won't turn it back on without the $130 AND AND AND the electric is due to be shut off by the 22nd. Which, really, would leave us homeless. We can't go back to the apartment, the landlady ythere doesn't want us there. We have too much shit to impose on any local friends and my mom lives too far out in the country for it to be worth going to work every day.
We're driving to South Dakota to crash with Squeeji. Really, in essence, cutting out the middleman in us moving with her in a few months anyhow.
I know this probably seems irresponsible to some people. That's fine. But right now? Anywhere is better than here. Being homeless in another city is better than staying in this toxic envoirnment. But when I'm stuck in a shitty situation, I'm not going to sit around and let it beat me up. I'm going to remove myself from it. I'd rather face the unknown possibilities than stay in the shitty situation we're in now.
I'll probably be around the rest of the week, but not likely much longer. I have to get my shit in order here. Let work know what's going on. Get the shit we're not taking over to the apartment. Rehome the kittens. Rehome the rabbit. Possibly rehome the littlest girl rats we took in.

I come home from work this morning to discover our water is off. "What's this?" I ask, confused and bewildered. Surely pipes couldn't have frozen, as they are in the garage and it hasn't been cold enough for them to freeze anyhow.
So, I call Al.
For those not familiar with our living situation, here's the short and sweet of it: We're staying in a house TJ's mother's fiancee owns. He doesn't charge us rent (because he doesn't want to pay for a rental permit or, you know, be a landlord) and really hasn't bothered us about bills. I've offered to help with the bills, but I need copies of them when they arrived and not 'OH HAY, THIS IS TWO WEEKS PAST DUE'. Al beats around the bush about doing this because, apparently, females don't know how to do anything (this has been displayed in not letting me borrow the lawnmower and other stupid things). Recently, he, apaprently, has been thinking it's a GREAT IDEA to just let the bills lapse because, since his mother passed away, he doesn't have HER extra money coming in (with which he would spend hundreds of dollars on model cars).
Al goes, "Was there a notice on the door?". I think, if there was a notice on the door about OUR WATER BEING CUT OFF, I would've given you a call, buddy.
He says he's going to call the water company.
I DON'T HEAR BACK FROM HIM. AT ALL.
I call HIM around 8PM or so and he informs me that they want $30 to turn the water back on and $100 to cover the past due balance. He goes "I don't know where I'm going to get the money, that's all I can do for now, blah blah blah.".
I RAGE.
So, we're without water. I don't even have $0.50 to my name to buy a gallon of water from Walmart so my pets will have water (because they're all out at the moment). I can't wash dishes, I can't take a bath, I can't wash my hair, I can't flush the toilet. Thank god what's left of our food doesn't need water to cook, at least.
And payday's two days away. And I'll be lucky ifI see more than $200 with the three to four days they've been giving me at work. And I really can't bring myself to take on anymore commissions because I'm already behind on them as is.
EXCITING!
HOWEVER. If you've gotten a sketch or an inked piece from me, I'll offer to color it for $10 (flat colors) or $15 (simple shading). I just can't take on any more commissions in good conscience.

Commission Status
General | Posted 17 years agoI've had one or two people inqure about their commissions lately and i thought I'd put something public out to let people know that their pieces are being worked on, albeit slowly.
The holiday season is simply keeping me quite busy, is all. On top of shifting priority for one or two pieces as well.
Things are moving at a snail's pace, but my off days are finally set up in decent intervals (I think I'm on two days, off two days until Christmas). So I'm crossing my fingers to be able to plow through some of these and get rough sketches done for you folks!
Thank you SO much for your patience. I know I generally have a crappy turnover rate and I eternally apologize. But I don't want to force out art that doesn't want to come out and I don't want to half-ass anyone's piece.

Last Day + Happy Halloween
General | Posted 17 years agoLast day for October's commission specials! $10 sketches, $15 inks, $30 colored sketches. If you can sent payment within a week, I'll reserve a spot for you. But no longer than that.
Anyone have any suggestions for what next months specials should be? I might run them straight through the end of the year, so it's a good time to let me know if you've really been wanting a certain type of commission and you might luck out! :D
And, Happy Halloween, everyone! I don't know if I'm actually doing anything today/tonight. Me and the GF were thinking about going up to Cleveland to go to the goth club, but my check this time around might make it a little bit difficult. So, we'll see.

I really think it may have been congestive heart failure. He went downhill so quickly and there was so little I could do.
I'll miss our obnoxious, loudmouthed beaky monster.

Our rat monster, Quidditch, has come down with SOMETHING. He's bloated, lethargic and I haven't seen him eat. He's been dragging himself around his cage in an absolutely miserable manner.
I'm REALLY worried it's something serious because rats LOSE weight when they get sick, not GAIN. Gaining is a sign of something bad. I'm about 80% sure it's not a tumor. Doesn't feel like one. He's just...bloated. And it happened almost overnight.
I'm borrowing money from a friend to get him to the vet today, because payday isn't until Friday. I'm also hoping this doesn't cost me and arm and a leg because I just can't afford it right now. I'll be lucky if my paycheck clears $200 this time around.
Part of me wants to pimp out more commissions, but that's ALL I've been doing, it seems. And I don't want my queue to get TOO full or I'll dread getting around to it.
Ugh. Lame, lame, lame. And I'm, like, SUPER EMOTIONAL right now because it's THAT time so all I've been doing is crying over tiny (and big) things this morning.

General | Posted 17 years agoTo make a long story short, and avoid making this entry tl;dr, I want to get prints of some photos of my siblings from homecoming for my mother (she and I haven't seen them since they were little because they live with their grandmother and family drama blah blah blah), but I'm broke until the end of the month (I know, it's not THAT far away).
They're gonna be, like, $30-ish total. And she'd be thrilled if I can get them. So, I figure, the sooner, the better.
I'm going to cut ink pieces in half, so that's only $15 instead of $30! I'm going to open four slots for them, since I have none in my queue currently. And then I'll have a little extra if I want to grab her an extra print or two for my grandmother or something.

Well, there's our silver lining.
It's by no means set in stone, but it's a possibility.
We were down at the comic store today on a whim and talking to Greg, who owns the building (about three stories, the comic shop is the first floor + the basement). He was telling us about his cat and having to go to the vet (this is going somewhere, I swear). He said that the cat was staying in the empty apartment upstairs so his two other cats wouldn't bother him (he just had surgery). This sparked something in my head and I waited until he had a moment alone to inquire about said apartment.
Five minutes later and we're being shown around a really nice studio apartment. Newly redone in the last year (the buildings downtown are OOOOLD and not in the best looking condition inside for the most part).
He has someone who's been saying they're going to move in for the last two months. He's waiting until the end of the month before he offers it to us officially.
It's $500/mo. Everything included. Rent, utilities, cable, internet. Free use of the washer and dryer, as well. Comfortable, safe, secure. Downtown (literally, right across the street from the courthouse), easy to get to everything, walking distance from plenty of places including food and (vauge) entertainment. No issues with our animals at all.
(plus living ABOVE THE COMIC BOOK STORE HELL YEAH)
This is a REALLY GOOD deal. This would be GREAT for us. We'd be out of this shithole and our from under the thumb of Al and TJ's mother.
The downside? At the moment, I'm only making, like, $500 a month. That's IT. I'm planning on getting a second job, so that would help. I'm willing to bust ass for this place because it's such a fabulous deal and location and alsrkhgkldfhg everything that It'd be so wonderful for us. If I could find something downtown, even, that'd be better. I could walk to work and wouldn't waste gas for a second job.
So, we'll see. I'm trying not to get hyped about it because, well, I don't want to be let down. But, until then, I'm going to save as much as possible and think positive.

Me and the GF are staying in her mother's fiance's place. this is a second house he owns that he's trying to sell and failing horribly at (it needs SO MUCH work). We're staying here rent free because we're, essentially, keeping it safe because it's on an iffy part of town.
We offered, back when we returned from Seattle, to help with bills. Gas, electric, the usual. Al (the fiance) said not to worry about it.
Fast forward through some bullshit where part of his income is taken away (it's really too much to bother explaining in detail) and bills piling up.
He asked if we could chip in for bills. I said that, if I have the money to spare, I'd be happy to.
I haven't. I barely broke $250 this payday and every last penny of that went on food, gas and my critters. I splurged on the Iron Man DVD and that's about it.
Now he owes something like $1000 on the electric and a couple hundred on the gas on top of the house payment (something like $300-some a month).
And he comes to me lamenting the fact he's somewhere around $2500 in the hole on this one house. Uh, sorry, dude? Maybe you should've payed these things when you had the money? $1000 on one bill doesn't just pile up overnight. That's probably more than six months worth of overdue.
Now, apparently, the electric is due to be cut off around the 14th (which is my GF's birthday. fucking yay.) and the gas probably soon after that. We have nowhere else to go. At all. And I have no way to pull any sort of money out of my ass. If I could do that, I wouldn't have to worry about somewhere to live.
In short: shit sucks.
Commissions are open, feel free to advertise 'em, if you want. Every little bit helps but I'm just so goddamn sick of trying to get ahead and getting kicked on my ass by things completely out of my control.

I'm also going to offer COLORED SKETCHES for $30 ($15 off!). These are DIGITALLY COLORED. Mostly flat colored, but I'll toss on some basic shading if the commissioner wants it.

A hellhound head made a few years back for Halloween. It is EXTREMELY spacious inside, probably close to 30". Anyone's head would fit, to be honest. The horns are celluclay over a wire fram and held on to the head via zip ties. It's a bit of a fixer-upper, the teeth need secured (or replaced, if you're up for that) and the new owner may want to pad out the inside so it will fit snugly.

A set of pretty indigo and black wolf paws and loose ears (you can attach them to whatever you please. Hair clips, a headband, whatever.). The indigo is a short pile and very, very soft. A hellhound head made a few years back for Halloween. It is EXTREMELY spacious inside, probably close to 30". Anyone's head would fit, to be honest. The horns are celluclay over a wire fram and held on to the head via zip ties. It's a bit of a fixer-upper, the teeth need secured (or replaced, if you're up for that) and the new owner may want to pad out the inside so it will fit snugly.

A set of pretty indigo and black wolf paws and loose ears (you can attach them to whatever you please. Hair clips, a headband, whatever.). The indigo is a short pile and very, very soft. The ears are lined with white fur and pink fleece. The underside of the tail has black fur on it, as well. If you'd want paws, we'd be willing to make some for an extra fee.
