Furlandia 2024
General | Posted a year agoI'll be heading down to Portland, Or, for Furlandia starting tomorrow and will be staying at the Hampton Inn. Going with my 3 housemates, and I plan mostly just to hang and enjoy the local restaurants. Especially that Mediterranean grill at the nearby shopping center. Hope to see others there and help see this con grow each year. :)
Thanks for banning herms FA.
General | Posted 7 years agoWell, apparently my character's sex is banned from FA now.
Yeah, good going FA. Changing my submissions to remove my char's gender/sex.

General | Posted 7 years agoHey all, realized I've been rather lax in updating my journal; last one was from three years ago.
So, essentially, I've moved up to the Bellevue, WA, area with my mate
,
, and another fur named Shoal. Still sortof getting settled in since I had to buy new furniture as I couldn't move my old stuff with me. Hoping to save more money and get my credit score up to a good spot where I can buy (or help someone else buy) a more permanent home instead of renting in a year or so.
This was after the housing situation in Colorado fell apart due to one housemate who reported us to the city for having more than 3 related adults in the same 5-bedroom house. Broomfield, CO, has some very archaic laws, and the housing one still has verbiage regarding allowance of adult "servants" (AKA slaves) being permitted to live in a household. But after a few months, my ex-housemates got into a good position and bought a home (with me helping them with closing costs) and are now supporting something like 7 people (all furs) in a nice 5-bedroom house.
I may plan to go to the DenFur Con in August 2019 and visit, especially since Rainfurrest is no longer a thing in WA and the AnthroNW was very strictly PG only. But I'm open to other cons.

Guardians of the Galaxy.
General | Posted 11 years agoSo I just came home from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy. As many others have already said, the movie is good and enjoyable although not perfect. I think Marvel did an excellent job bringing this group of comic heroes to the movie screen. Their choice of making the movie comedic instead of a serious space drama was a great choice and helped allow everyone to suspend disbelief for the duration of the movie.
I've heard others say it already, but the romance between Quill and Gamora was forced and probably only thrown in so there was something more than just friendship holding the group together. The movie also sort of suffered from the Planetville trope, as the "good" planet was depicted only by a single city and a reference to 12 billion people (has to be more than Earth so it shows it's "Galactic").
I definitely think it's a movie people should go out and watch.

I need to post more journals...
General | Posted 12 years agoHey all,
Been over a year since my last journal, and decided I ought to go ahead and post something about what I've been doing.
The first thing to know is that I was laid off from my job just before Halloween. The owner of the company said he had to file for bankruptcy after issues in the management of the company. Only lately I've found out that the guy never filed for bankruptcy and when confronted said "You'll have to sue if you want your money"... Yeah, so the owner I was working for is basically running off and not paying his employees their last paychecks. Luckily, I just got hired for another job that pays 60% more than my last one and is for a much better established company, so I am doing well.
My Secondlife work has mostly hit a standstill since I've not found the patience or time to learn how to navigate Blender. I'm slowly learning things, but I find the camera controls to be entirely non-intuitive. I like having total control over the exact placing of vertices, but it's difficult to be precise with Blender unless you know all the shortcuts to bring up the appropriate options. Either way, I am slowly making progress with various meshes and may start selling a few on the SL Marketplace.

Watermelon vs Burger and Fries.
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, while browsing Google+ I came across the following "Did You Know?" posting...

The watermelon is easily digestible, and will be excavated much faster than the burger and fries below. If the burger and fries remain in tact for 180 days, imagine how it must look inside your intestines! That stuff clogs you up, prevents the villi in the intestine from functioning properly, and results in malabsorption issues and GI tract problems. Not to mention a variety of other bodily effects that I could list for days on end.
Suggestion : Eat clean. Eat Fruits. Eat Greens. Eat nuts, seeds and avocados minimally. See the changes. Exercise, get enough sleep, reduce daily stress.
My response was the following:
Wow, so many logical fallacies in this comparison... This argument relies mostly on the fallacy that natural is better (http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/appeal-to-nature). The second fallacy is suggesting that food that doesn't easily decompose in an open environment (providing that the pictures are from open environment and not just a sealed container, but the point stands) doesn't decompose within one's stomach/instestines. These are two very different environments. Both are normally digestable by the human stomach and intestines without much trouble.
The burger and fries provide more proteins, fats, and carbohydrates than the entire watermelon likely would have. The reason people get "fat" on burgers and fries is because they are obtaining too much in the way of nutrients that their body has to store the extra as fat.
One thing I will grant is that having a diet of nothing but burgers and fries is unhealthy. But so is having a diet of nothing but watermelons.

Regarding FA's stance on SecondLife art.
General | Posted 13 years agoHey, seems the FA admins have updated the AUP and made it clearer that SecondLife works *are* permitted with some reasonable restrictions. Let's see if the other admins try to remove my works as "screenshots" now.
Regarding FA's ban on SecondLife art.
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm gone due to the admins finally deciding that art I've created doesn't count as art.
