And them's the breaks! I will draw anything at this point because it's been such a shitty season for money. I'm not when I'll be able to get back to work and I just happened to move to a new apartment with more rent and expenses, so my boss telling me that they couldn't renew my contract due to the university's awful mismanagement of their funds, I wasn't...thrilled. I just had to pay around $600 for a different dental bill that my insurance evidently didn't cover, and now I have another procedure coming up where I'm told I'll have to pay cash because my yearly limit is up somehow. What is the point of insurance even.

So, yeah, I'm just going to create a commissions waitlist to slot in people because I can't really afford to limit my slots at this point. It's a waitlist because I'm still in the middle of moving, and I am still in a lot of pain until I can get my next root canal or whatever it's gonna be - so I can't consistently work on anything quite yet, at least not until the 8th when I am ~allegedly~ being treated (and at that point I should be mostly moved in to the new place).

I say I'll draw "anything" but I obviously still have lines, so feel free to ask me personally if you have questions. But the limitations will now be significantly relaxed in the name of getting enough commissions to save some money. I'll contact you when I'm ready to start working on art. Currently I have one commission in the queue that will come first, but after that I'll have an empty list.

I'm gonna open myself up to take up to two commissions at a time! Summertime is very slow for me at work, so I think I'd like to cautiously try doing this again. And also...surprise, I have another upcoming dental bill that will suck for me to swing if my insurance doesn't like it. o_e Don't have shitty dental genes.

I'll link my commission page again for a guideline, but I'd like to mention that I am probably going to do these as wing-it comms - that is, you give me a subject (and any important do's and don'ts) and I just do what feels right.
This is because I am finally happy to be drawing again after literally most of my 20s being full of stupid art angst and perfectionism, impostor feelings, and generally just trying to be something I'm not, doing stuff I'm not cut out for. The best commission experiences I've had are return customers who just slide me a ref and tell me to draw what feels right. That, and I've noticed that most people who come to me really aren't looking for anything perfect, and all the questions I throw at them throughout the process to make sure it's absolutely perfect for them are pretty much not needed. On FA especially, everyone's been really, really kind to me. TL;DR most of the commissions I've done have basically been wing-its anyway because people just wanna see what can be done, and I put way too much stress on myself for no reason!

Not really anything significant to say but I wanted to put up something new on my page, because...a lot has changed. And I'm also feeling better about art, finally! So that's something I'm happy about.
First and foremost, I want to emphasize my website and the fact that it's my internet home base and where most of my updates are. It's also the best place to find the most exhaustive archive of my art, aside from maybe my Tumblr archive, and FurAffinity itself. I love hanging out working on my site a lot, and I highly highly prefer it to social media.

Second, I'm going to be deleting all of my Twitter accounts as soon as I can get my data and archives off of it. I'm on Bluesky as far as an equivalent to that. I also have a Mastodon that I want to use more, but I think I want to switch to a different instance...maybe. I feel sorta like a small, dumb fish, big pond in my current one. And as always, my Pillowfort and Tumblr exist.

Lastly for now, I should clarify that my NSFW art (when I get around to finishing any) will always be posted here on FA, but also on Pillowfort (under the applicable content tags) and potentially a NSFW art Bluesky account, but we'll see about that last one, idk. And uhh...I took a trip to Japan recently! And my partner and I are now engaged! I am bad at announcing things.

First and foremost, the kitty is okay! Johnny Rotten, my sister's indoor-outdoor cat, got injured the other day and had to get stitches. It was not an injury from another animal, so a lot of infections and such were ruled out, plus he's up to date on all of his shots - so he's gonna be okay, just a shaved side and hurt pride. It was actually bizarre when he came home and I noticed the wound on his side, because he seemed absolutely not bothered by it at all and wasn't even trying to lick it or anything...but he definitely needed attention, so we took him to the animal hospital and got it taken care of.

That being said, inevitably this became really costly because they had to give him anesthesia for the cleaning and stitches; notably, I had to cover the cost for my sister (she has paid me back about half) because she only had cash on her and the deposit was way more than they said it would be, and we honestly just wanted to get him home and taken care of ASAP so I just bit the bullet. It came to about $1400, but as I said my sister reimbursed me for half and I also believe the hospital will be crediting me about $200 since the actual cost ended up being less....anyway, it was complicated, but Johnny is okay, and my sister is hopefully gonna be keeping him inside from now on because this is the second time in six months he's gotten an injury outside. That's another issue for another time, though.

TL;DR I'd like to open up commissions again because that bill was a pretty large blow to my bank account, plus I've been thinking about reopening them for a while anyway, since I've been semi-posting stuff again. I also have MAGFest very soon, which I can't exactly cancel at this point. So come at me with your cute sonas!!

Just a disclaimer, many people are aware but my turnaround for commissions is fairly slow because I am just slow and meticulous about drawing. Please keep this in mind when commissioning me. I will draw for you and communicate as much as needed, but my perfectionism makes it so my drawing speed is slower than most. It doesn't indicate negligence, just obsession. >>;; Doing a bunch of sketch commissions will be faster than doing a few polished ones. I'm sure most people don't actually mind it, but it's something I've always been mega insecure about lol. I was always the last to finish tests in school, I take forever to get ready even if I'm fully prepared, etc. Time is weird for me.

I'm taking an indefinite hiatus from posting art online/being an artist online and truly focusing on getting better for the foreseeable future. I'm seriously considering moving towards doing art full-time now, so I'm trying to get my stuff together in terms of that. I'm pretty unhappy with my work life right now and I want to do a lot of things with art. I'm gonna do my best to make it my focus more and more. I'm sort of in an art slump right now, and it's unlike a typical slump where I don't know what to draw, it's more that I have so much I want to do that I can't focus on anything and it's overwhelming. So I wanna ask what kind of art the people who watch me like to see from me, since I haven't asked in a while. Like streaming and making Trello boards, getting feedback like this helps me pick and stay focused on things.
I also wanna know what I could try in the interest of commissions. I hate to do this whole thing but I just got a bill from the endodontics for almost $400 and with rent and my bills it's gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with, to say the least. Rent and bills have been tough for a while with my job being on the chopping block constantly (I work at a community college and our department is on the verge of a mass layoff due to covid stuff). So I want to know the type of stuff people are interested in, because if I laser focus on something specific, I feel it'll get more traction than my usual plain old commissions. I don't feel like my art really brings anything unique or exciting to the table that you can't get from any other cute anime artist, and the dry spell I've had with commissions for the past several months has kind of hammered that home for me. (I'm also shit at promoting myself because the internet as it is these days really stresses me out)

So I'm wondering if maybe I should get into stuff like, reference sheets? Icons? Stickers? I'm sure I can do all of that stuff but I would have to work out a price point for all of this too. So yeah any input is extremely appreciated! I also really miss interacting with you all so I kinda just wanna talk too. (• ▽ •;)

Okay so, I'm not sure if I remember mentioning it here very much, but I've been working on getting a Patreon page set up for a while and today I finally got it launched! I want to post the tier images later since I had a lot of fun making them, even though I didn't actually get to use the full sizes in the page. The tier names are called Buns and Fluff, named for two of my more iconic OCs' hairstyles, and I know it's really silly and dumb but I'm bad at names.

I'm obviously incredibly new to this so I still have to feel it out, but so far I feel confident enough in my art to take the leap. It's something I think will help me experience-wise in terms of taking my art more seriously, and I do need a little extra monetary support, since I just moved out for the first time, so I hope it helps in that way too.

Uh...that's kind of the gist of it! It's not absolutely final quite yet, but it is very likely that within the next month or two, I'll be moving into my own place, and I'm extremely excited because I've wanted this for a long time. Also scared. But mostly excited. So I have bills coming up soon, and I also want to replace a number of my PC parts that I'll need a bit of money for.

With that said, I want to make it known that I'm interested in opening commissions to the general public again soon, so keep an eye out because I'll keep everyone posted. I haven't been very active online in general for a while just because my mental state has been a roller coaster (and I haven't really been drawing enough stuff that I've wanted to post). I'm also planning on launching a SMALL Patreon page, with really small tiers, just in case people are interested. I’m thinking of having Fiona, Hattie and Bailey run a small cafe together.

They each have different types of baked goods/drinks they specialize in, and also have different roles in running the place (not without help from their friends as well, friends I haven’t drawn/written as much as these three). Plus it would give more structure to their narrative than just them all living together and there's a hint of a love triangle.

Fiona is mainly a barista, and makes simple but well-made drinks; but if you’re an extra nice regular and don’t irritate her, she might make something special and fancy for you. She refuses to use certain ingredients in her drinks, as she has a very sensitive stomach, so she focuses her beverage-making around trying to use things other than unidentified syrup, artificial sugars, etc. Her specialty is beverages made with tea, but she’ll also make coffee and milkshake-type drinks. Fiona is also always scouting out vendors for fresh, actually natural ingredients and does so with lots of scrutiny.
Hattie, naturally, makes most of the sweet dessert-type goods. She spends a little too much time decorating each one and can tend to over-frost or over-glaze things, but plenty of patrons like it this way, and will ask for Hattie-made pastries if they want something extra sugary and cute. She often closes with Fiona while Bailey is keeping track of the inventory and earnings for the day. Hattie will often be the one to go out to a vendor to talk business with them, often accompanied by Bailey as well.
Bailey makes the bread and most of the savory goods, though she does also make some sweet pastries and cookies. These are generally neater and less loaded with sugar than Hattie’s, and patrons will ask for Bailey-made goods if they want something sweet and…normal. She also is in charge of most of the logistics of the cafe, like keeping track of their inventory, ingredients, shipments, earnings, all the stuff I probably should research more before I start actually writing this.

I've taken a long break from drawing and socializing in 2019. There's a lot in my life that I'm trying to change right now, and I'm not gonna get into it right now but it's a reason I've been so withdrawn this year (and last, to be honest)
Socializing for some reason has become incredibly difficult for me, and I think it kinda circles back to how unhappy I am with my current life situation and how it makes me feel like, weirdly inadequate when I talk to people, and I also have a weird guilt complex that makes my brain irrationally go "IF YOU CAN SIT DOWN AND DRAW/TALK TO PEOPLE THEN YOU CAN GO OUT AND GET A NEW JOB/APARTMENT/DRIVER'S LICENSE" and it's not supposed to be that brutal. I just need to learn how to manage my time and not be SO hard on myself. So, basically, if you've felt ignored or blown off by me at all in recent memory it's entirely my fault for just being a hermit. I also am a huge space case and very often forget that I have messages/comments to respond to, so I apologize for hibernating so much. >< It's really nothing personal, I just suck.
In terms of art, I actually feel better about it and I've found that I suddenly am working faster after taking a long break from it, but I need to get the motivation going still. Very often I'm sitting at my desk and COULD draw but I don't because I'm so bad at actually getting started. With that said, I would like to open up some commission slots soon so I can get my ASS moving on art and be motivated to make art for myself too! It also doesn't help that my room does not have heat so most of the time I just wanna curl up in my warm bed >> (which I will probably do after posting this journal)

In any case, I wanna be active on FA once again because I really feel at home here, it's where a lot of things started for me and I just have always felt safe to be myself. I did a lot of self-discovery through this site and it's partly because I joined it when I was TOO YOUNG to have joined FA but still, ten years have passed and I still always wanna come back to the place that helped me grow majorly as an artist. <3

To get straight to the point, does anyone know of anywhere else that would be a good place to post NSFW art? Doesn't have to be specifically focused on that aspect, but that's fine too (like I've heard of Hentai Foundry, idk if that's good though? I don't know anyone who posts there so I haven't been able to ask what it's like)

I know of plenty of furry art sites which are very welcoming to adult art but I'd like websites that aren't totally specialized in furry art. Basically my criteria is:
1. Art site for artists
2. Allows and is welcoming of NSFW art (isn't just allowed by a technicality or something)
3. Isn't a specifically furry site (I have plenty of those already)
4. Isn't Twitter or DA
5. Doesn't have a nasty/unsavory community I'd regret showing my art to/interacting with

Long story short, I'm not in a good place right now to do commissions on demand because things in my life are just too unpredictable at the moment, I don't want to take anyone's money and not know when I'm gonna be able to finish a private commission for them. BUT I am willing and able to work on adopts when I can and post them up for sale when I can, probably for a pretty low price too since I don't really have a history of doing them.
I think I should come up with some designs and gauge interest again, but I kinda just wanted to see if anyone would buy a cute adopt from me for like $10-$15, and also I wanted to get that old journal off the page!

With TONS of gift art, personal projects I need to finish and basically no time to myself right now, I figured it would be best for me to close up for new commission requests for now until my busy-ness dies down which will no doubt happen once Christmas and New Year's are over. I just can't guarantee that I'll be able to consistently work on them and deliver them in a timely fashion until my schedule smooths out, and I just really don't want to disappoint anyone!
