Obligatory End of the Year Journal (abridged)
Posted 4 years agoI kinda wanted to write a lil' thing about silver linings from the past year, but you know what? 2021 was a joke and a blur in my mind, so fuck it.
I can sum it up with "I survived, my OCs are my happy place, very few people deserve my time or love, and I'm gonna try to change some shit about my art so I can be happy about it again".
On a more serious note, I'll try to take commissions more consistently this year, but they won't be my absolute focus like before, as I need to shift to a less workaholic mindset to prevent burnout.
Due to that, I'll overaul my commission system and prices, so my site will be revamped completely once I figure out a good balance.
Got no hopes for 2022 as it already showed it's ugly face, but let's pretend it won't set a new record low for how bad things can get. Maybe the memes about it will be good though!

Not Dead, Will Be Back Soon
Posted 4 years agoHey, just wanted to give an update since I've been a bit absent and I'm not dead (yet).
Practically all the time I've been able to draw was spent working on the commissions I took back in June.
Sad thing is, said time has not been much, due to a bad combo of medical issues, "A Series of Unfortunate IRL Events" I didn't want to deal with, vaccine side effects (low yet disruptive fever for 5 days + arm pains) and heatwaves (it's so fun to have 30+°C at my desk /s).
I've actually kind of fallen off the social side of things, my energy has been at rock bottom for a long time and all the stress has greatly impacted my recovery, but I'm itching to draw regularly again ;_;
I do hope I'll be able to get back on track soon. To make up for the wait, current clients will get a lil' extra, and they contact me at any time.

Posted 4 years agoMy health hasn't been great, but my arm has been somewhat improving lately, especially after I've stopped guilt-tripping myself for not being productive lol.
Of course my luck had to do its thing, and just when I was seeing substantial improvements and getting back into art, my tablet's functionality got crippled by a recent Windows update. I can still use it, just much less efficiently since it forces me to use only one screen at a time.
It's an old model and the legacy drivers apparently won't be updated anymore, so I'm forced to buy a new one. I wanted to get one anyway, but in like 6+ months, not right after a similarly expensive medical procedure. Luckily my partner is covering what's missing of the initial expense for me, but I have to repay him back and recoup my emergency savings that are getting burned up.
So yeah, I'm not in the right place to take big commissions right now, but I will likely be offering some small commissions in the next days. I'm thinking stuff with a quick turnaround like chibis, sketches or icons, not sure yet about the prices since I haven't updated my website yet.Go commission my friend (look at what they made for me!)

Obligatory End of the Year Journal
Posted 5 years agoI had absolutely 0 expectations for this year, so much so that I meant for it to be a gap year to let my health recover... jfc 2020 managed to screw even that up, even "survive" was objectively a hard thing to achieve, holy shit.
I honestly don't think 2021 will be much different, so I'm gonna take it as another gap year/break. I'll be dealing with lots of health bs anyway, so I might as well not expect to get anything done and be glad if I manage to do anything.
I hope you're prospects are a bit better than mine.
Stay safe this New Year's day and don't take unnecessary risks!

Health Update (I'm not dead, just a wreck)
Posted 5 years agoTl;dr: My health is a literal wreck, I haven't drawn in a month due to the pain, "gap year" will double.
I've been a bit of a complete wreck in the health department, mainly due to two distinct issues, and I think I owe a bit of a more in-depth explanation as to why I've kinda disappeared.
So much for getting back to art before the end of the year :')
Around a month ago, my right temporomandibular joint started making noises more than usual, as well as hurting. I have to thank what an idiotic dentist did years ago for it :)
I usually had it fixed with a simple visit to a specialist and did so many times before this, but due to covid lockdowns and measures, I had to wait too long to get checked. The pain got so much worse by the time I could be visited, to the point that even painkillers did nothing to stop the pain.
As far as I now know after two weeks of visits, the joint is slightly worn out (and might have microfractures too) and nothing can be done but wait for it to recover, since it's too much of a delicate point to do anything more than what's been done already. Even eating and talking is painful at times, but I can only hope it'll pass soon.
During one of those visits, it came out that I actually had endometriosis years ago (it was an evident case, but endo as a whole wasn't taken seriously until very recently) and that the damages left by it are ultimately what has been causing most of my shoulder/neck issues.
To oversimplify the issue, various organs are apparently stuck together in weird positions, "pulling" at each other in ways that screw up my whole right side of the body through tension and inflammatory responses.
No idea yet about what can be done to fix it, as time is needed to get the complete picture.
Of course the timing with both of these things is terrible, as the combo of covid and festivities doesn't exactly make it easy to do further medical tests or anything useful.
It has also been greatly affecting my mental health, along with serious IRL personal issues and all that's going on in the world right now, so admittedly I have been avoiding contact with most people.
I truly appreciate those that reached out, but I'm not the most sociable person right now and won't be for a while longer, please bear with me.
Speaking of art, I would love to draw, but the mind-numbing pain in the side of my face/head also spreads down to my shoulder, making drawing (or doing anything that requires muscular strength) impossible.
I'm angry about this because I had finally started personal projects that I was really looking forward to, but I haven't even turned on my tablet in a whole month. I've been working on side projects, yes, but I truly itch to draw again T_T
In light of these things and the fact that I overall had no way to use this "gap year" in the way I intended to, I'm likely going to turn it into a "2-years long sabbatic" from regular monthly commissions.
It wasn't an easy choice and it comes with many drawbacks, but I can't do otherwise. Sporadic commissions will still happen, but at this point I don't even know when I'll be able to draw regularly again.
Sorry for the downer journal, I hope you're all having a better time than me right now, despite covid and everything else.
Please be safe and don't put yourself and others in danger these festivities.
(and if you're a person who menstruates and does so painfully, please go get checked for endometriosis)

Personal
Oh boi howdy, for the entirety of the past couple of months my infamous Mr Bean luck has been channeled into a continuous series of health issues and annoyances.
Now I'm mostly fine, but I have been taking a break from most socials for a while because I reached a point of fairly severe stress-related burn out. I'm still not out of it, but I've been enjoying the relative quietness. If I haven't responded to you somewhere or I seemed "cranky" and short when replying, that's why, sorry :')
Art
I had been doing good with the Fashion Week stuff and was excited to get back into art since I have many things I'd like to finish or work on (Okami's updated reference was to be the first), but I have barely touched my tablet in the past couple of weeks and I feel so bad about it T_T
Aside the aforementioned health issues, working through the summer heat without a/c is downright impossible at times.
Between my pc and the unfortunate exposure of my window, my desk area usually averages at 30°C for most of the day, even with the help of fans and coolers. And even when the sun is down, the room remains just as warm for hours.
You could say it's not ideal, not in the slightest.
I'll take advantage of this last month of summer to dive into online classes again, so art might be sparse and less refined, IF I manage to make anything worth posting.
I suggest you follow me on Telegram or Twitter, where I'll post the individual pics and (on Telegram) WIPs.
Projects
So, as you may imagine, I had plenty of time to think about many things regarding my future and (hopefully) career.
In short, the big comic project that used to be called "Play of Life" is ultimately cancelled, at least in the form I planned it to be initially since my health isn't allowing me to work on it the way I wanted.
That said, I'll be salvaging the stories that are closer to myself and rework them to be standalone. Whether I'll end up doing most of what was planned over the years will depend on many factors outside of what I can predict, but I'm adamant on doing two stories in particular for now.
Hopefully I'll have something to show for it before the end of the year!
I also want to finally begin making fanart more regularly, especially for those fandoms I have made OCs that have almost never seen the light of day. And there might be a little project hidden in there too...

Quick Update

I sort of planned to come back this past week, but life kept throwing me one curve ball after the other for the past month and a half, so much so I barely touched my tablet during this time.
Now family stuff has happened (this month just had to get in a final kick in the teeth before finally going away) and that has likely marked a definitive delay in my plans. Really not looking forward to the next few days.
Also, regarding current events, I'd like to give a very important reminder of a simple often-forgotten fact: Black Lives Matter.
I sort of planned to come back this past week, but life kept throwing me one curve ball after the other for the past month and a half, so much so I barely touched my tablet during this time.
Now family stuff has happened (this month just had to get in a final kick in the teeth before finally going away) and that has likely marked a definitive delay in my plans. Really not looking forward to the next few days.

I'm sort of doing better now, but I still need to take it slow because many things are stressing me out (the whole virus situation is not even the biggest stressor right now, quite ironically) and I can't even go get checked for a few of my issues until it's safe to go out freely again :')
I've taken the weekend to enjoy the new Animal Crossing, but I should be back this week with a few slots for Telegram Stickers commissions!
Mind you that my current prices are tad outdated and that even the types of stickers will be different, so don't look too much into it. I might even do some "opening" discounts, but I still haven't figured it out for now.
And, in general, I hope you all are doing at least somewhat okay.

Greetings from the Lockdown Zone
Posted 5 years agoSo, some of you know I'm Italian. Specifically I live in Lombardy, just 25km away from Milan.
My city was only in the yellow zone until last week, then it was part of the provinces put in "orange/red" zone over the weekend. Now the entirety of Italy is considered one big "orange" zone, so we're not supposed to leave the house unless necessary (grocery shopping, health reasons, work).
The situation in the hospitals isn't pretty to say the least, but for once I'm proud of my country's government for not underestimating the situation, even if their execution hasn't been the greatest.
This whole situation won't be nice and people's jobs are at high risk, but if we don't do this now, there'll be only increasingly dire consequences for both businesses and communities, so I'm just hoping it'll pass soon.
Currently I'm not extremely worried, if not for my friends and older relatives that'd be at risk if they caught it, but I trust they'll try to remain as safe as possible.
In general I barely leave my house unless necessary, so nothing really changes for me, aside from not being able to see my partner for a full month and having to be extra careful with my health. Right now, I can only say that I'm absolutely glad I decided to take this year as a gap year.
Hopefully New Horizons will make the next weeks less stressful :')

In the past couple of months I've been quiet because of general health problems and other IRL issues. I'm doing sort of better now, but I still haven't been able to start studying as much new stuff as I wanted to due to it.
Art has been very slow due to an annoying art block that should, in theory, be almost gone now (you can guess which pic helped me get over it), but still due to health I can't work as much as I wanted to.
I've also been much less social lately, so I'm really sorry for not replying to messages or if I sounded weird/snappy/dismissive in chats and replies. I try my best to always be nice to others no matter what, but things were often a bit overwhelming lately and I tried to keep my mind busy in other ways x-x
Since I need money for a few things, in the next weeks I might end up posting YCHs or opening a couple of commissions slots, not sure yet as it entirely depends on my health.
If you want to see something YCH-wise or commissions types (icons, chibis, full shading, etc) you want me to open, let me know!

In other news, I've been enjoying the initial break by doing everything but drawing.
I picked back up some non-drawing creative hobbies and it's been extremely refreshing!
Some art will begin to appear soon-ish anyway, I just gotta wait for a minor shoulder issue to pass and then I'll throw myself into practice and personal art!

Obligatory End of the Year Journal

I did :V
Long story short, my only goal was to survive the year and I only barely did so lol
I could rant for a long while about bs in my life, but I'm just really damn tired and done with things. I need a change of pace or I'll explode.
So that's why I'm gonna take a "gap year" in 2020.
It won't really be much of a break, but I'll take things slowly and do different things. One could say I'm nearly burned out, but actually I'm full of inspiration and will to do things, I just need to keep energy for it all.
I'll see how to organize myself after I get a few days of proper rest, but for sure January will be mostly relax for me. I got big things coming through the year, so I gotta be ready lol.
I don't want to set any specific goals for 2020 because I'll just feel bad when they ultimately fail.
I'm just going to aim for "being better and grow" in general, be it health, art and whatever else.
Oh and "survive", because I can't expect a nice year after whatever the fuck this one was 8)
Regardless, I hope the year will be nice to you all and that you'll spend a nice New Year's day!

Commission Closed + Upcoming Raffle

From this point on, my price list will also be outdated until next opening.
I ended up with bigger orders than expected, so it's likely I won't put up any YCH until next year despite having planned a few.
As I mentioned before, I'm not sure when I'll open for commissions next.
Next year will be a gap year for me so that I can heal from a few physical issues as well as focus on studying and improving my art, so commission openings will be reduced greatly.
There's also a chance I'll be involved in a potentially big project, so that'll further eat away the little time I'll have for commissions. It's nothing set in stone yet, but still I'm excited and a little scared xD

I'm closing Autumn commissions early, as well as the Halloween icons.
The current batch of commissions will be finished as fast as my shoulder will let me (currently I can only work for a couple of hours at a time/day before the pain starts). Clients will be notified individually when I get to them.
I'm extremely sorry for the delays and general lack of art, I'm a workaholic at heart and this has been stressing me out a lot x-x
In December I'll likely post a few festive YCHs and maybe open a couple of Commission slots, so if you really want something, feel free to send an inquiry to book a slot.
Next Year Plan + Life Update
As I've mentioned in a previous journal, my mother hurt her leg a week and a half ago. Since then most of my time has been dedicated to taking care of her and the house, on top of feeling really sick for a few days and sleeping poorly due to it all. On top of it, I ended up hurting my shoulder further due to a couple of chores-related accidents, but nothing extreme, luckily for me.
Despite my willingness to do art in this time, I was simply too tired or in pain to do it almost everyday, when I wasn't constantly called to do things for my mother. Heck, for the first days, whenever I had that little free time before sleep, I didn't even have the energy/motivation to game or watch stuff.
Due to this whole thing, I had lots and lots of time to think.
It wasn't easy because there are many things that could wrong and I'm not in the best living situation, but I've come to a conclusion...
Next year will be a "gap year" for me.
What do I mean with this?
I will be focusing on studying and working on personal art, fanart and various projects (merch, videos, comics, etc).
Commissions will become a much rarer thing, but YCH and small commission openings will still happen as I need to cover expenses such as online courses and medical stuff.
I won't go into details now since I have to decide things and it wasn't/won't be easy, but hopefully it'll recharge my "art batteries" and get me a few steps ahead for future things.
My overall health will likely benefit from this, especially since I've failed with my current schedule plan due to all the unexpected events and sicknesses.

Heads Up for Other Delays
Posted 6 years agoI thought I was feeling better finally, but I feel like I'm getting the same breathing problems again so I might have to go to the doctor next week.
In addition to me feeling like a zombie again, my mother fell pretty harshly yesterday while walking back home due to the wet street.
Her leg was in immense pain and she couldn't even stand on her own, so my grandma brought her to the ER. Luckily there's no fracture or similar stuff, she went in again early this morning to do a follow-up visit with the orthopedist to confirm it.
All she'll have to take it easy for a while, so I'm doing everything in the house as well as supporting her when she need to move because her leg is still in pain.
Needless to say, this is taking a huge amount of time, so art might be a bit slower depending on how quickly she can recover.
I just want to sleep for a whole day lol

I've been pretty much sick since the middle of last week, so work has been very slow.
First my eye got slightly infected, then I could barely breathe all weekend due to this weird cold I had for months getting nasty.
On Monday I went to my doctor and he prescribed me a strong antibiotics since other meds did nothing already, but it's been making me sick in other ways so it's been hard to sit down and work for long periods of time x-x Luckily it's a short-cycle antibiotic, so I should ideally get better once it's done, I'd really like not feeling like a dizzy zombie all day x-x
That said, I managed to make some lil' progress on commissions when I was lucid and then, when too unfocused to work properly, get the Halloween-themed on-base icons ready for release!
Tomorrow I should be ready to post them! They'll be relatively cheap (currently thinking between 7€ and 20€, depending on which), kinda like the ones I made in the last years!
