Soda test
General | Posted 15 years agoSo a few of us decided to visit Arcadia Oklahoma, home of "Pop's" on historic route 66 here in the Coyotes territory.
and myself did some fursuiting and snapped a few pics in front of the 66 foot tall soda bottle sculpture. (you need to see this thing at night, its an awesome sight stuck out in the middle of nowhere!) but the real reason to visit Pop's is to sample a few of there 600 plus types of sodas from around the world.
purchased a few selections for us all to experiment on, some familiar, and some just by random choice. Brave furs who tempted fate are
plus my daughter Rhayven.

Emotional overload
General | Posted 15 years agoToday should have been great, it started out that way and should have ended that way...after all, I'm in control of that right? I'm part of a great service team, we all know each others weakness' and strengths, we always seem to cover for each other when one of us is gone or struggling with a project.
We began an enormous reset today @ 5 A.M. its in walls and windows consisting mostly of curtains and valances, sounds easy yeah? 14 pages of instructions and over 400 separate price labels that all had to be "bin" located...by hand in an outdated computer system. As the day and project wore on...it became clear why Lowe's corporate assigned 64 man hours to this 7 bay project...the work was dirty~slow going~and we had only 2 psa's (my manager and myself) to do the Lions share of the work. Two other hourly employees seeing us struggle offered to help us get to a stopping point at about 2 p.m.
We were both just spent...mentally, physically and so it seems emotionally as well.
To make matters worse, the store was very warm and busy today, customers seemed to be drawn to our work isle, other employees and managers just shook there heads walking by or offered only a comment like..."Can't you guys speed this up a little?" or "Damn, all you seem to do is tear stuff up around here~" Every body seems to think we work behind the scenes, invisible, or "in the back" what they never seem to realize is that anything new that magically appears is the result of our unnoticed labors.
When I got home, I was just done...I didn't even want to sooth my aching body and head with a cold beer, thats rare....so I turned on some tunes and this song by "Tokio Hotel" came up...it sums up 100% how I feel about today...and just how much I'm going to work to make Wednesday better. I owe it to my team, and to my store, but mostly myself....I put up a good front, but sometimes I just need to let out how much life can frustrate me, especially when I try so hard to do my best and give it all away....I feel sometimes it is just a ~World behind my wall~

A reunion
General | Posted 15 years agoToday I saw my old friend...who i thought I would never see again...because last i heard, well, he was dead.
Thank you Facebook for clearing that up...why did he not contact me until now? Thats another paragraph...
Ok..lets start at the beginning shall we? His name is Nathan Brite, a truly unique individual by any standards. I met him working at a local coffee shop in the city I lived in former to my current home of Edmond. We became kindred spirits of chaos and goofy humor almost instantly... Always down for a journey, no matter the destination. The guy is and was in my memories one of the happier guys on the planet, now even more so. Nate suffers from type 2 diabetes, it has cost him his entire set of adult teeth to which he took in stride as just another reason to be excited about getting a"chill new grill" as he put it. We always seemed to be encountering each other at the oddest of times. In 2001 our daughters were born 20 days apart in the same hospital on the same floor. His ironically on Sept. 11th. While on vacation to Eureka springs Ark a few months later..there was Nate again, helping run a small concession stand.Nathan and I took a trip to Los Alamos New Mexico in September of 2002 to visit a mutual friend, the last time I would see him until today.
Nate went to the local hospital about 4 years ago complaining of back pain...he awoke 2 months later after collapsing in the waiting room and instantly into a coma...cause to this day...remains a mystery.
Nathan had to re~learn everything, from talking to wiping his own backside...walking, eating with utensils...everything you can link to brain function...including my last name of all things~my friend had to endure. But he did it...his spirit could not be defeated, his titanic will un-detoured from his ultimate goal. I saw the man before me today who I can count as superhuman...a big smile on his face as he greeted me like we had only been apart for a few weeks.
I rarely use the word "Amazing" but today it fits who I hugged goodbye perfectly. Nate can teach any of us quietly...well ok so he would swing down off monkey bars dressed like a Japanese raver and scream it to your face..."I'm no half ass fucking survivor, I'm ALIVE bitches...get outa the way!!!"
I can't wait to see him again, now that I know hes very much alive.

Lokis passing
General | Posted 15 years agoToday I buried my friend, companion, our family pet and my daughters playmate.
Loki~named for the Celtic God of mischief, (Rattus Norvegicus) a mottled white and brown male. This curious two year old passed quietly in his sleep from advanced years. He was given to us free, a family moved and could not transport there pets, so we took him in.
Constantly in every way a true Rat, Loki often found his way behind my computer seeking a quiet place to be warm and observe me as I chatted or worked. Even though I had to replace several cords due to his exportation chewing...he was just being a Rat after all.
I recall one morning seeing something stirring under Rhayven covers, I pulled back the comforter...and there he was, looking at me like.."Hey, I warm here you wanna cover us back up?" (She had fallen asleep playing with him)
Rhayven and i sent him to the Summerlands in true Pagan style. We faced him to the North, placed cedar, sage, and tobacco in his grave. Sweetgrass was burned as we chanted to the Great Mother to return his spirit to us one day. Rats live a very short while, but in that time, they give us laughter, love unbounded and teach us the quiet lessons about life.
Although his body lies cold under a newly planted fern, Loki remains in our hearts and minds eternal.
Thank you Loki...we shall see you on the other side.

jimdalefox and
merkindesr to say goodbye to a good friend
idlevalley
This was also a chance to see how an outdoor furmeet held in the great state of Kansas would go. This Coyote would say that good times were most defiantly had by 99% of those who attended. (theres always the 1% fail factor)
New furs made them selves known, old friends reunited, and new friendships I'm sure were forged. 25 was the final count for the group attending, but the group picture will not include those who showed up after sundown.
Merk painted "paw print" signs for all to follow right to out epic camp sight, next to the lake under a massive shade tree. Dale reserved the spot 2 weeks in advance to insure us a semi private and large enough place. (planning Fox plans well!!!)
I wish to give a huge thank you to our hosts Merk and Dale with the help of "Doom Ferret" for providing all the food and drinks for the main meal on Saturday...that kind of generosity is rare. You guys are a credit to the fandom.
Even though I got a little over heated and the mate is nursing a sunburn we had a good weekend among friends. Hopefully next year, we will have the spot to ourselves...the midnight howl got the neighbors howling too!!!
My personal highlight was the fursuit parade in the back of Dales El Camino...we gave all the other lake guests quite a show and took tons of pictures and even got handed a few cold ones!!! All the people wondering what the paw print signs were about got there answer in the form of US!!!!!
Only 4 suiters...but that was plenty...
I'm looking forward to Moxie~con in July...but thats another journal.

OK so this time I did not neglect to put in the link...silly me.
This band edify the term "never sold out" its Pearl Jam. Spawned out of the Seattle grunge scene that dominated the 90's they quickly rose to an unwilling if not well deserved "super stardom with there debut album "Ten".
As an out spoken but literally unknown front man, Edie Vedder quickly took his money and put it where he felt it belonged..back in the hands of the bands fans. Battling the mega power "Ticket Master" for the rights to sell there own tickets for there second albums supporting tour dates.
Crippled by legal jousting on all fronts the band ultimately was grounded from touring by the very entity they set out to overthrow. There popularity waned and in the fickle and ever changing music scene Pearl Jam became another "also ran" name on tour dates.
If you have never experienced them, I invite you now to witness the unbridled talent that is this enduring band. A tighter rhythm section you will never find, and vocals of this caliber are unheard of today.Stunning guitar work and complete mastery of there craft, this is still~Pearl Jam~

A life Mate
General | Posted 15 years agoSome of you have met Her, others only know Her thru FA, but on this Mothers day, I would like to tell you about a true Alpha female. A polar opposite of me in every way imaginable, but thats why we work so well together....let me begin~
15 years...2/3rds of some of your lives. Thats how long it has been sense I found my life mate
askari
Eight years ago she delivered to this world our little cub Rhayven Gabriell thru an emergency Cesarean birth, she still bares the scar proudly.
When She met this Coyote, he was more of a Rabbit personality, skid-dish-guarded-often alone. Freshly divorced from a love less relationship, almost broke, and to say I was an emotional train wreck would be understated. It took Her almost a year to finally convince me that her love and interest was genuine. It literally saved my life, for left to my own devises, Oki would have surely never emerged. As odd as that may sound, its the simple truth. Askari (which mean Guardian in Ethiopian) never gave into doubt or looked at me as a "project" she simply stayed by my side as I sorted out my former life i knew before meeting her. Most females of her age (19 at the time) would have thrown there paws to the sky and said farewell, but not my Cheetah. And I was an unlikely choice for her too being 14 years her senior, even her parents questioned her resolve.
That would prove to be our commonality, yes, our parents.
Our strong quiet Fathers and old school Alpha female Mothers, who instilled in the both of us love, ethics and respect for one another. We had found each other in a world that, to me, had abandoned all of those things and shut me out. She had never experienced all of the things I had, but still she called me her friend first, never judging, always listening.
Thats what being a life mate is all about
I love you Askari, you have brought a peace to my life I thought lost like Jetsam in the tide. I hope to be as good a Father as the ones who reared us.With you at my side I know this goal is reachable.
Happy Mothers day, I am Honored to be your Alpha.

I love you Askari, you have brought a peace to my life I thought lost like Jetsam in the tide. I hope to be as good a Father as the ones who reared us.With you at my side I know this goal is reachable.
Happy Mothers day, I am Honored to be your Alpha.
Mothers day
General | Posted 15 years agoTo all the beautiful females out there in this crazy fandom...who by the will of our blessed Goddess have brought life anew into this world...I wish for you a wonderful and relaxing day...filled with love honor and admiration. you all deserve it. Thru your tireless efforts we rely upon you to rear our young into the Alpha males and strong females that will some day inherit this often cruel and unforgiving world. These mundane, everyday acts often go un~thanked, but today I hope to fill the void.
My birth parent did not raise the Coyote you know today, but another Woman who was laid barren by a childhood illness adopted me and called me Her own. To this quiet and amazing female I am eternally grateful and honored to call Mom. While my Father was busy protecting our town and county as its Sheriff, I looked to my Mother for life lessons and guidance. I promise you she never hesitated to kneel down to me and offer Her undying love and consoling voice of reason.
As I rear my own cub now, I look at life very differently...my Mothers voice often echos to me from my childhood, still guiding me to this day. I hope I am a good example of Her mentoring to my little one and to all of you.
A blessed Mothers Day indeed.

Oki's laugh
General | Posted 15 years agoOK, so a lot of you guys have asked me...or "commented" about Oki's unique laugh~cackle~giggle that he has, and where it originated. To be completely honest with you, I never set out to give him such a trademark at all. Like most awesome things it just sorta happened. Here is the very first video I found with Oki's signature laugh documented. Look how new and groomed he was back then, ahh the memories. Also take note of the redness factor of my friends face...Win!!!
