Connect/Disconnect...?
General | Posted 12 years agoI don't know if connect well with other furs on FA..
Most are half my age... I guess It's just me feelin' old.
Been thinking about this over the time I've been on here..
Don't know if the younger furs connect with me... (Honestly I feel why would they?) Seems the majority that I've watched or at least communicate with are in their 20's... I've met some furs that are my age and maybe older. But maybe that's why I feel outta place sometimes. Trying to find a way outta the funk I'm in... (Kinda hard to do seeing as I'm a Skunk .. there's not enough tomato juice in the world for that.. so best thing might be to start putting ketchup on everything..) Anyways.. Just some of my random and current thoughts. Keep Jammin..

Glitch in the system..
General | Posted 12 years agoI know some of you that I'm watching that are also watching me are going through some rough and tough times. And you post it from time to time.. always serves as reminder to me. Even though I may be going through problems there are others that are having an even tougher time than I am. And you let me know thru these journals. Although I could post my problems as well I always feel why bring someone down or add another gloomy journal to the list they already have whether I know they do or not. Anyway.. Me?
I'm okay. But.. my keyboard I use for music.. lost another key.. No it didn't break off.. It's just not functioning properly .. but wait I said, "Lost another key" yeah the keyboard I use is a 27 year old Kawai K3 synthesizer as my controller.. it already had a broken C key.. the first one on the right hand side of a 61 note keyboard... this came from my days of loaning it to other producers back in the day and lugging it around to various Chicago-land studios to record.
But I never worried about that key and never got it fixed because I didn't play up in that octave that much. Well after it sitting in storage for 12 years and me coming back to music last year its still been good to me and still is except this time its the E key in the middle of the keyboard and while the rest of the keys work.. its telling me to either see if I can get this fixed or get a new controller... I'm leaning towards the controller.. I've got a backlog of tracks I'm trying to finish but this little thing is now really killing my vibe. So the controller will not be cheap as its one practically made for the program I use.. So its gonna cost some serious cash but I will get it eventually and get thru this. Or consider stopping for a while (I probably won't because I'll miss it too much..)
So if you read this thank you and hope things are improving as of this post for you.
If you found this journal annoying.. sorry for wasting your time.
As always Keep Jammin'

First year in..
General | Posted 12 years agoWell posting this late but its been a very interesting year.. Got
a music prog.. started back making music after 12 years of
outright quitting music.. found a song by
chibiknight and
he let me remix it and from there I joined the ranks of FA as a
furry musician.
Got to know some amazing artists.. some of which I already knew of
for years seeing their work on other websites and such and
searched and found them here on FA.
Joined the
furry_musicians managed to get spotlighted twice.
Met a fur by the name of
dyandod and found out he visited up
near me at a small comic strip artist gathering. Did not go to
MFF even though that was close by... Just didn't have the nerve to
do it.
dyandod kept vigilant in wanting me to attend a
furmeet. Reluctantly did so .. and at least so far my worries
about doing that are gone.. because of the great time I had.
Attended some furmeets down at Millennium Park in Chicago.
Went and became a member at the LAFF bowl meet and attended a few
of them .. got to see even more fursuiters some well known and
not.. but to see the variations of design and funny antics and see
how members of the fandom operate an event such as this. So for
those who can't get to things like this I understand. But if
something like that is close by.. give it a shot to at least check
it out. All the videos that are out there don't compare to seeing it
in person or being involved in some way (i.e like a handler).
Anyway I hope being in this I get to meet more furs... maybe
attend a Con and stuff like that. TBH up until now things were
boring 99.9% most of the time. There were other things I did but
so far this has made life more interesting to say the least.
Probably nothing special for most in this fandom.. I dunno..
Okay back to your regularly scheduled journal post delete session.
And always Keep Jammin'.

Grant Park Furmeet 2 and LAFF bowl meet
General | Posted 12 years agoKinda of late update but went to a 2nd furmeet downtown Grant
Park.
Went really good
bjbuttons
Timothy_Rat and for the
first time I met
KelleyToons there were 2 other suiters there.
I will update this once I find out who they were.
I got a few photos in.
Despite the long drive down for me I had to park in the Monroe st
garage.. I couldn't make it to the Millennium Park south garage on
Columbus because of a major leg cramp! I was driving through
downtown with one leg (the cramped leg) standing up literally over
middle console and the driver seat... but i made it whew!
While down there a wedding couple taking pictures near the "Bean"
as soon as they spotted the fursuiters they immediately wanted pictures with them.
There was also a wedding proposal going on with a group
surprising the bride to be with large letter signs spelling out
"ELLA WILL U MARRY ME" at first the U was in front of the will...
making seem more like a demand than a proposal.
I don't really know if they did change it in time. Anyway she said yes
and the park cheered them on! Fun times down there.
Later on I ate at the Patio restaurant
and then went to the LAFF bowl meet. Saw a lot of fursuiters that
I've seen from videos on you tube and gallery's here on FA.. but
forgot to take photos!!! aargh...
Did bowl with a few furs that
were not in suit or had partials on (like tails and such).
Despite all that I did feel a little out of place. But I didn't
let that stop me from trying to have a little fun.
So I have a badge to this function.. Will I go next time..?
I dunno we'll see.
Anyways keep on jammin'

Millennium Park Fursuit Outing (My first furmeet Pt 2)
General | Posted 13 years agoOk went to my first fursuit/furmeet ... *I don't own a suit*
no badge... ya get the idea.. but after much prodding
by
Dyandod aka
timothy_rat because of me being
reluctant to do so in the past.
The drive down from Kenosha to Grant Park was not too bad.. I took
an alternate route to avoid tolls. Made it down there at 1:45 pm
took about 10 mins to park they were on the 2nd level and me on
the 3rd level but I had never parked at Millennium Garages (even
though I'm originally from Chicago) but anyway after they got
suited up, we came out the Columbus street exit went towards
Michigan street cars were honking their horns to acknowledge the
presence of the fursuiters. So at this point me and
blackcat2086 and another fur became the handlers. (If I can
find out who that was I'll update this journal my apologies)
I've never been a handler but I did my best as could as we had
started with 6 fursuiters and then later 8!
People on their way to millennium park stopped to take pictures of
and with the fursuiters.
On Michigan we headed south on the park side.. some guys wanted to
know what/why the fursuiters were downtown as they were headed to
the AutoShow and thought we were headed that way. They thought
our group was so cool they wanted to hang out with us!
We were headed down to Columbia College to the writing dept..
timothy_rat was featured in a magazine article and we were
going there I guess to contact the editor or columnist that did
the article. But no such luck as we were not sure where that dept
was located. I asked security in the College but he informed me
the campus is made up of 20 or more different locations so. The
others waited outside as I didn't know how the security guard
would have reacted to them being inside the campus building. We
ran out of time getting down there and the office closed at 3 so
went back North on the building side of Michigan. People in the
restaurant and coffee shop windows were waving taking pics etc.
Got back to Millennium park and caught up with
alphilonius
synthwolf and
vinter who was suiting as Clove cat.
We started heading toward the "Crown Fountain" interactive display
and then onto the Cloud Gate aka "The Bean"
It was like instant celebrity status for the fursuiters.. tourists
wanted pictures of and with them. What was cool how people were
reluctant at first to take a picture with them warmed up to the
fursuiters as soon others started doing so. And it was like a
domino effect lots of group shots with them!
Also at first it seem we might get asked to leave as the activity
naturally attracted security to monitor our presence there.
racsonracsonracs and I re-assured them we were not there to
promote or sell anything and as long as we were not bothering
anyone we could stay.
At times it seemed I was the honorary spokesfurson for the group
as people asked me was this connected with anything. I just
merely explained that the group decided for a get-together here
and wanted to hang out while wearing the suits created by them and
for them. And were here to have some fun and spread a little good
cheer to the public.
I didn't mind at all. I hope all that were there didn't.
Went by the ice rink took some group photos there and then made
our "escape route" so to speak near the Petrillo Band shell to the
walkway bridge and took a few more photos.. also wave at traffic
and some of the locals and tourist below looked up to take video
and pictures of the group. All in all that day was a good day!
Thank you

To those that are at/ went to MFF
General | Posted 13 years ago I hope you're having or had a great time!! Would've been interesting to see. But work schedule prevented that. Of all the videos I've seen on the net of fursuit outings and such and where they take place. Some are in a common place like a Wal Mart or a Mc Donalds and sometimes I wonder I've never seen anything like that happen 'round where I am. But I've taken into consideration of where I live and then probably from what I've gathered here from groups on FA that odds are that the only way to see stuff like this to get up the nerve and attitude to try and go to a furmeet or a con. MFF was maybe only 40-50 miles from where live now.. so maybe I'll get the chance go to the next one. Or somethin' like that so I guess I'll see where this all leads to. BTW I went over 100 faves! Thank you to all that are listening and like what I'm doing!! More music on the way.. as always... Keep Jammin'
Long in the tooth.. another year down
General | Posted 13 years agoMy how time flies...
Maybe I'll take it easy today...
My sis got a dinner planned for me this weekend.. mmm crab legs!! although the shell part can be tricky.
Maybe I'll spray a few dogs ... or find a yogurt cup to get my head stuck in until then.

To those that use FL Studio
General | Posted 13 years agoCongratulations!!
You've probably seen the artlicles round the web but the two that I know of.
2 recent readers polls surveys picked FL Studio no 1 in a top 10 and top 15 DAW's survey
Mine (Reason) made it up there in the top 5 with it.. and ahead of a lot of ones seen as "Industry Standard"
I'm sure pricing and ease of use factors into that as well as others.
But for me I'm not surprised seeing how many use it here and use it really well.
For all the bad rap that FL Studio gets (I don't really know why its just as capable any DAW out there)
I like seeing stuff like this that destroy those myths.
The articles were at Synthopia.com and Musicradar.com or you can just google it.
Just posting something.
Anyways Keep Jammin'

General | Posted 13 years agoI know i'm late on seeing that I went over 500 views and over 50 watchers and 75 fav's. So in that regard I want to say thanks to those that are watching and faving the stuff I'm submitting... and hope to keep on keepin' on :)
Also with the recent downtime of FA I was wondering if I should try the other sites like Inkbunny and SoFurry. I've checked out the music there on both and it seems to be ok. Not much different here... unless you talking about the Hip Hop and R&B selections. But kinda the same what could be found here I dunno... I can barely keep up subs here let alone thinking about supporting another site. :)
So if anyone has some input on that please let me know. I'm not leaving FA for them but kinda like a back up of sorts just to try them out I guess.
And always... Keep Jammin'

Keeping Pace..
General | Posted 13 years agoWow sometimes I feel like i'm lagging behind in Music..
I work on a track.. and my watches.. have 2 or 3 tracks submitted within a weeks time to my one.
I know I just got back into music.. but maybe I'm still finding my workflow..
Mine seems to be get a beat going.. add some samples if needed.. add the instruments to the track... I can do that in a few hrs.. But what I do next is spend a day setting mix levels and panning... then a day EQ and testing effects. then arrange it into a song. <That part is mostly random as I never have a song in mind ahead of time. :) > so basically .. Now the real confession ... I'm trying to do this while constantly checking FA LOL this site is addicting.. and distracting. But I think I'll eventually find my groove.. or just keep creatin' them.. one or the other. Anyways keep jammin'

General | Posted 13 years ago10 submissions and approaching 200+ pageviews... The community has been good to me so far. And I hope I've been good back to the community. Got me some watchers and I'm watching alot of you as well.
Now I know on my faves and watch list I have alot of musicians and music. That does not mean I don't like artwork... or my focus is just music.. No I have a few "Artists" on there as well and plan to add more because if it wasn't for the artwork I wouldn't be here. The music is just the icing on the cake..<hmmm cake>
Anyway in my profile I said this fandom seems to have the most fun doing stuff well.
Here's video I came across.. I may be a lil' late finding out about this but man
if this isn't the coolest fursuit video out there its definitely near the top.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcFybw4mSOk
Go check it out. and more music and stuff to come hopefully <boy it is hotter than July>
as of this posting. So stay cool <literally> or find some water to sit in. Or just keep on panting... humans got that one advantage at least they can sweat the heat away. :)

Collaboration on Music
General | Posted 13 years agoLots of people on the music side of things here talk about or want to do collaborations. I'm up for it. As long as we can work out the schedules the method of data transfer and the like. I'd really like to at least try one. I see FL Studio, Sonar, Abelton, Mixcraft ..Audacity...<well I think it counts if you can record decent audio with it depending on your gear> . I'm a Reason 6 guy. I've been scouring the submissions looking to do Impromptu collab like maybe some backing music or something like that. Something that might make someones day... or breathe life into a project that was a permanent WIP. But like always I'll ask first permission first if you mind me having a go at one of your projects. It's the nice and respectable way to do it. Not worried if you say "No". I can respect that. It's YOUR music and right to handle it as such. Anyways that's what I'll be doing from time to time. Been having a blast so far FA... let's see what'll happen down the line.
So far so good.
General | Posted 13 years agoGetting the hang of things sorta.
Submitted a remix and some original stuff..
Commented on some things... and got some feedback comments as well..
Got some watches..
I know this might sound newbish to some of the vets around here but hey I'm happy with it so far.
Work is kickin' my butt right now. With the holiday weekend coming (Memorial Day) I hope get some more stuff submitted.
Liking the community here so far. :)
BTW To all the men, women, furs... serving in or having served in the military a big THANK YOU.
Sometimes I think they need to hear that from time to time every now and then
whether you agree or disagree with conflicts they are called upon to handle for
our freedom and the freedom of others who might not agree .. but at least will be
able to for the first time in their lives.
So don't kill me... yet.. I'm still new I just got here.. :)
