Chat programs?
Posted 14 years agoAny recommendations between MSN, ICQ, AOL and all those other non-three-letter chat programs?
I don't talk to people much via notes or anything so I thought I'd give a few of those a shot.

Porcupine pictures
Posted 14 years agoSo it turns out that if you search for 'porcupine' in Google Images, you tend to get 1/3 pictures of porcupines (Mostly old world), 1/3 people and things that look vaguely like porcupines, and 1/3 dogs that don't know when to walk away.
I know that adding a -dog helps a ton in the search, I just think it's kind of funny, and a bit sad. A porcupine's defining feature are its quills, sure, but do you have to be so focused on how they look sticking out of something's face? XD

Getting Free Art?
Posted 14 years agoHi Marte! Sorry but I think you are the only person that will end up reading this.
This is part of an entry for possible free art (omg!), as provided by the magnificent Marte here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2340984/.

A question for YOU
Posted 14 years agoWell, the first question is probably what brought you to this page anyways?
But that's not the question I really wanted to ask!
For all of you that keep a fursona, why did you choose that species? I always wonder if people choose a species because they think it (or how it is commonly perceived) match their personality. Or if they chose it for visual effect, or because they feel some sort of spiritual connection to said animal, or what!
Anyways, leave a response? I promise I won't tease anybody for their reasons, (or lack of!) and just tag a -noreply on there if you don't want me to respond for some reason.
EDIT: This is always open, by the way.

Icon
Posted 14 years agoAugh I need to get an icon. I comment on things and then I realize I'm that weird anonymous guy without a picture.
First suggestion before I make my own icon determines it for... I dunno, a month? As long as it won't get me banned.
(Implying someone will read this.)
EDIT: Psh finally made one myself. Crappy art skills, GO.

Character References
Posted 14 years agoI'm going to expand this sooner or later, but for now I think I'll start with a description of Silas. (Eventually there will be three other characters here.)
Name: Silas Clacher
Gender: Male
Species: North American Porcupine
Height: 5''10
Weight: 159 lbs.
Short Version:
Silas is a north american porcupine with short, dark brown fur from head to toe. Streaked through his fur almost everywhere are much longer quills that are pale yellow. These quills are on his back, and the back of his arms, legs, and most of his head as soon as you sweep back from the face. He has two very dark brown eyes, and his nose is short, round, and dark. His small hands have curved, but dull black claws. He wears thick clothing that leaves his arms, and the quills on them, exposed. He favours black and yellow in his clothing.
Long version: (It's long!)
Silas is a thicker porcupine, a fact obscured by the large amount of needles covering his back, legs, arms and head. The needles are intermingled with long narrow hair, but stand out as yellows and off-whites in the otherwise brown expanse. Generally, Silas' body structure matches that of a human's, in the placement of the limbs and shape of the body, although the face is shaped much differently.
Silas has a rounded face with a fairly large, flat nose and smaller, very dark eyes. Technically they are brown, but his iris' are very narrow: most of what someone would see in his eye is the pupil. Silas' needles and longer hair begin very close to his face, giving him the appearance of a low hairline and strong sideburns. Most of it is just long, white to yellow fibers that are his giant quills, his underfur doesn't grow long enough to be very visible.
Silas' underfur is short and thick, coloured a very dark brown. His longer hair is almost everywhere except his face, the front of his neck and torso. It is a little lighter than his underfur, but is filled with long, slightly flexible needles. They increase in frequency the further down his back one looks, being most common around his waist. His arms and legs match this same frequency and hair, with the arms being swept up towards his shoulders and the quills and long hair on his legs being swept more from front to back.
He keeps the dull, curved claws on his hands and feet short, so that they are more manageable. Like most animals, he does have a tail, a fairly short stubby one that is absolutely covered in the barbed quills that are such a hassle.
Silas typically wears a thick yellow button-up shirt with short sleeves and black pants. Both pieces of clothing need to not get caught on his easily removed quills, so they're made of a very thick synthetic material, but kind of loose so they don't restrict his movement. In any case, the ensemble leaves the hair & quills exposed on his head, neck, most of his arms, around the ankles and a strip around his waist, where the quills are thickest. At that point they tend to simply droop downwards, unless he gets agitated in which case they start to stick straight out from him. His clothing is heavy enough to restrain the quills even if he gets panicked.
