BAD NEWS on sasha
General | Posted 14 years agoive had to give sasha back to the breed to see if she can do anything for her head tilt.
she just messaged me back saying she thinks its a brain lesion from a fall :( and not an infection.
her condition is that wehn jumping down she summersaluts and twists, she can barely stand up, and she is losing weight slowly, thought she is still eating (eith her hands) and drinking and still seem to be livily
she also said if she gets just 1% worse she may put her to sleep :'(
atm she on her own tonight and the breeder said she'll get her a cage mate in a low cage tomorrow and then take her to a specialist rat vet on friday.
fingers crossed they can do something and not have to put her down.

“just a rat”
General | Posted 14 years agoFrom time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a rat”, or, “that’s a lot of money for just a rat”. They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for “just a rat”. Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a rat”. Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a rat”, but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a rat” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a rat” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it’s “just a rat”, then you will probably understand phases like “just a friend”, “just a sunrise”, or “just a promise”. “Just a rat” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. “Just a rat” brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of “just a rat” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it’s not “just a rat” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. “Just a rat” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a rat” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human.” So the next time you hear the phrase “just a rat”, just smile, because they “just don’t understand.”..Repost if u love ur rats xx
sasha's head tilt review at vets
General | Posted 14 years agoit been two weeks now since i first too her to vets, got give baytril and metacam, and had to give it to her in syringes, was a struggle each and every to give it to her. had to do it every 12 hoors.
but she still has head tilt is was getting worse last week with her falling over and off my shoulder, so i went back to vets today. this time i demanded them give her a steroid jab as last time they said no, but they said okay this time as seen as it got worse, they gave her duphacort Q jab, and more baytril for me to give her
they also gave me tablets, i thought crap how i suppose to give these her. the vet suggested jelly mmmm jelly :P. so i got home crushed the tablets put in in jelly and let it set. by the time it was for her to take her meds jelly was set i gave it her and she wasnt sure at first, so i shut her in the small cage with nothing but a small bowl of the jelly and she eventually ate XD. now another 2 weeks of this and hopefully shes better, or its back to vets for more.
one last thing she got a check while she was there and vet said she hasnt lost weight and she is health other than the head tilt :)

poor lil sasha
General | Posted 14 years agowell my little rat Sasha has head tilt which is a major infection of the inner ear, i noticed it at first 2 weeks ago but thought nothing off it as i thought she was just posing :P.
but other past few days she been tilting her head more and more, so i consulted the breeder i got her from, an awesome person she is, she has other 20 rats o.o.
wel anyway she said get her the vet asap, so i did within the hour, the vet confirmed it and gave me meds of baytril and metacam given twice and i thought great, the ratty i got to give it to is hell to hold to just get her out the cage :/
so you can guess what happened when try to syringe the meds in to her mouth :(, well basically it mainly went other her, so i put her in her cage to clean it off and hope it still gets into her system :)
but tomorrow morning i will have to get my nan to her :/ *she hates rat* so this is going to be more interesting :P
i will give update of her condition in 4-5 days
