Happy 32nd Hatchday for me!
General | Posted 5 years agoI come to you once more with a announcement to let you all know that not only am I still alive, but I've grown yet another year older! I swear there are more and more white hairs sprouting from my head and beard. Thankfully if anything it adds more character to my otherwise fairly generic look even as I've started growing my hair out.
Fair amount of stuff has happened this year, moving once more, going through a couple jobs thanks to Covid-19, getting married once more, have gained 5 fur babies in the form of cats, and other things! Courtesy of my folks I will be dining on Red Lobster with my wife while playing some Dungeons and Dragons together with our friends.
Thanks to any watchers that took time off their busy schedule to read my journal and/or wish me a birthday. Hopefully the world will be in a better state next year allowing me to hold a job a little longer. Till then, I'll see ya when I see ya.

RIP Pookie the family cat
General | Posted 5 years agoRest in peace Pookie the family cat. 13 years of being a part of our family of your 18 years on this Earth, we never thought we'd have such a good natured and well mannered cat.
Around 2007 my family and I took in this orange tabby cat when his original family couldn't/didn't want to take him while they moved to another state. He used to be a indoor and outdoor cat but we soon realized he had allergies connected to the outside so we kept him indoors save for short trips outside. It didn't take long for other health issues to show up, to the point approximately a year after we took him in his original family suggested to just put him down rather than pay for a expensive operation. We declined that advice, and somehow payed for his operation. He was much more my mom (I believe its because she reminded him of his old "mom") and dad (he's a stay at home dad thus Pookie saw him the most) cat over anyone else in the house. Pookie got to see both of my younger sisters and my own High school graduation, my two nephews who were born later absolutely loved him, I wish my ex-stepson would of had a chance to meet him in person. My family knew that his time was running out, what with diabetes, increased allergies/inability to eat certain cat foods, among other health issues, yet the pain now matter how expected it is still hurts all the same.
Rest now old friend. You'll be missed and loved through the years to come, and our memories of you will always be cherished.

A New Chapter Begins [Life Update]

Some chapters are sad, some are happy and some are exciting, but if you never turn the page you will never know what the next chapter has in store for you."
Heyo anyone that reads my journals! Long time no say anything, a little over half a year in fact! As one that can guess after my last journal I've largely been taking time to recover and self reflect after the end of my divorce. I moved back in with my folks states away from my ex-wife with the help of a friend that became my girlfriend, and went on to trying to get through life. During those months I saw a counselor to deal with my depression and self-esteem issues I've had for years even before my marriage resurfaced once more with a vengeance. During those months I continued my work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a much slower paced facility in comparison to what I'm used to as to not aggravate my stress levels self-inflicted by imagined accusations of my inadequacy.
Thankfully after all these months I've finally gotten to a point where I felt I could fully and completely move onto the next chapter of my life. In doing so I've moved once more (yay 2 moves in one year!) to yet another state in the US to be with the aforementioned girlfriend. I won't lie that I still have all sorts of stress considering how the last relationship went. I'm blessed that my precious one knows and understands this, is giving me space when I need it all the while being there for me when I need her. I'm quite happy with where my life is going these days, though now I have a fair amount of stuff to get used to with this move.
That being said I just wanted to give what few followers I have that care a heads up. Thanks for any new watchers I've had since my last journal despite my lack of activity.
I hope you all have some Happy Holidays coming up, along with a Happy New Year. Take care all of you, I'll see you around maybe on occasion.

A end to a story [Divorce Life Update]

Aulways and I got divorced April 2nd.
Without going into too much detail we grew apart along with having certain issues that try as we might to work them out weren't fixable. Because of this I'll be moving back to my folks in a different state in a few weeks so that Aulways and I can find happiness our own way.
I don't plan on getting rid of the art I've collected with her for the time being. So with that I thank Aulways for being such a wonderful mate, giving me the courage to join the Furry community and helping me create OrnTrothar along with all the memories we made together.
I'll likely fall silent for a time as I try to readjust my life after the move. Just a heads up. Keep on living the best life you can peeps.

General | Posted 7 years agoLong time no Journal entry! Heyo peeps, I'm still very alive as I have now turned 30 years old today! Hard to imagine that with all my bad health habits and diet decisions I've made it this long but that just shows how stubborn I can be. Either that or it's a testament of people like my wife Aulways's hard work to spite the rest of the world. XD
In any case spent the day pretty relaxed considering that for the last week have been on the mend from a relatively nasty cold courtesy of my step-son. Still have the sniffles and occasional cough but thankfully that's gone down alot compared to what it was a week ago where I would lose my voice or have a hard time breathing. Probably because of that, and the relatively shit-tastic work weekend I had just survived Aulways and I went to finally see Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald to see our favorite characters of the series.... the NIFFLERS! I kid you not we're huge fans of those little suckers to the point that while at the mall prior to the movies I had to talk Aulways into putting like 4 niffler plushies away in exchange of purchasing a single baby one. Great movie, highly recommend it.
All in all had a nice day, and looking forward to more years with my wife Aulways.

YEAH BOI!!!
Don't know how I did it (well actually I do) but Aulways said yes to my engagement yesterday (12/10/17) while we were at Disney World Magic Kingdom! Totally worth all the stress that I had trying to figure out where to do it during our visit despite me never having been there before and not being familiar with every attraction/landmark to offer.
As much as I wanted it to go without any hitches it sadly didn't go the way I planned, though Aulways likes to remind me that it's all the more memorable because of the 'hiccups' that happened.
---Warning! Bit of a Story following!---
To give a bit of background: Aulways was previously married to a jerk of a ex husband who is still in their son's life. This ex husband has lately been dating a woman that works at Disney and as a treat for his son (and as a way to try to be on friendly terms with us imho) offered to pay for all five of our tickets to spend the day together. Naturally we were a bit skeptical about spending all day together but looking at it more as a fun thing for their son to do, and not wanting to miss his first trip to Disney we agreed.
While waiting for the date I was debating about something that I know I wanted to do for a long time at Disney, propose to my mate in one of the most magical places known to us. We had a month or so head notice so during that time I did a fair bit of research and mental preparation wanting to make it a magical memorable experience that far out steps her ex's "proposal" of none existent before going to the court house. Aulways already had talked to me in the past about some of her 'conditions' she would like to be taken into consideration for a proposal; 1) Having her grandmother's ring, 2) The ring box her grandfather proposed to her grandmother with, 3) Not being in a terribly over crowded area to avoid embarrassment, 4) Bend the knee Jon Snow. Conditions 1 and 2 were pretty easy as years ago she gave me the box and I had kept it safe waiting for this chance, and recently finally found a jeweler to resize her ring to fit. Condition 4 in my mind would be the easiest, as for the longest amount of time I've told her my intentions of one day proposing to her to make her mine and only mine. Which of course made the last condition the hardest as being in Disney there wasn't going to be that many relatively deserted areas to pick from.
To Youtube I went, and stumbled upon a number of proposal videos at a location called "Cinderella's Wishing Well" which instantly stuck out as Aulways is quite the fan of Cinderella. Helped that from the videos I watched it was commented on being quite a nice scenic area near the castle, not being as frequently visited as other landmarks, and something magical about proposing at a wishing well sealed the deal. Now for the part of actually doing the deed...
On the day of our trip I made sure to pack the ring box somewhere I could reach it easier while trying to be discrete to not get her attention, into my pants pocket. We drive over, park, catch a 'trolley' to get to the entrance, and start to go through security. Being the guy that was carrying our single backpack in hindsight I should of put the box in the pack while she wasn't watching but silly me, got distracted with the excitement that it was still in my pocket while going through a metal detector...
*bing*
Security Guard pulls out a wand and gives me a wave, notices it going off at my pocket. Course Aulways had just finished with her walk through the detector and had turned around to see what was keeping me. Security Guard asks me to empty my pocket to which being compliant try to be discrete with the box, Aulways with her sharp eyes sees it. And that would be the story of how only my proposal gets ruined by a security guard. lol.
Despite that wreck of a start for the day, Aulways assures me that she's happy I tried, trying to cheer me up. I promise here that I will do the actual thing before the days end, before we get joined by her ex and his girlfriend to spend some of the day together. Their son and us rode quite a few rides and had a good time before the ex and gf had to leave early to deal with other things, wishing us a good rest of our day. Of course the kid wants to ride more rides before they close practically as the darkness falls, and hunger made us stop at one more place to grab a bite leading to full on night time before we finally found the Wishing Well. Showing her the well and in an attempt to wait for it to clear up some of people eventually I just got down on one knee and popped the question "Will you be my Cinderella?" in complete darkness. Of course my day couldn't go without one more derp as I opened the box with her ring in it and temporarily dropped the dang thing on the ground and had to grope the darkness looking for it before sliding it on her finger.
All's said and done, extremely happy that she's happy with the engagement even with all it's derp moments. Of course had to tell the family to which much laughter at my expense was had. But that doesn't matter as my princess is finally one step closer to being 100% my princess legally.

TL;DR- Planned to propose at Disney World, security guard ruined the surprise, still did the proposal albeit in the dark and almost lost the ring in said darkness.
On a much smaller note- Birthday was on the 3rd of December, making me 29 years young. So in some ways the trip to Disney was a belated b-day gift as it was my first time as well, though the engagement was much better imho. Tbh I know part of me jumped on this chance as my father was married at 30, and in my head for years since I started dating probably about 13ish years ago I've always thought that was something of a deadline/guideline for marriage. Just glad I found her when I did, and that we're happy to be together.

- Understanding?: I certainly try to be as in my work of being a nurse's aide in a nursing home you meet people of different backgrounds and opinions of things daily. While I do retain my stances on certain subjects I always allow others to at least explain their point of view and try to find common ground with them from there. It's not always a successful method but at least I don't start fights every day.
- Open-minded?: I like to think so though there are some things I can be closed-minded/old-fashioned on.

Still Alive/Fursona meme- 2 years as a Dragon!
General | Posted 8 years agoSo it's been a while since I last posted anything here largely due to RL. Aulways and myself have been having a load of fun living together and working through all the troubles of bills keeping us from getting any art.
Thought I'd fill out a meme I found/saved some time ago and then realized that today is OrnTrothar's 2nd hatchday on FA! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that watches me and favorited the art we purchased from a variety of well deserving artists over these two years. Hopefully one day we'll be able to get a piece or two commissioned in the future to fix my horrible need and desire that's been festering inside for months now. XD

• What is the name of your fursona?
OrnTrothar is my main
• Where did the name of your Fursona come from?
Long ago I used to play a lot more Dungeons and Dragons then I currently do. Back then while I did try to play several different archetype characters I also had the tendency to go back to a draconic styled character. Using the Dragonborn of Bahamut race from 3.5 they mostly if not all shared Orn (Draconic for Silver) as part of their name with a secondary part that generally had something akin to describe the character's role. A few examples include OrnIxen (Silver Fire for a arcane spell caster), OrnCaex (Silver Sword for a Paladin/Knight), and OrnMolikGix (Silver Skin Claw for a literal silver dragon that ascended to God hood with a mirror-like hide).
OrnTrothar in his own way follows this same formula. I knew I wanted Orn to be a part of his name, and didn't take long for me to come upon Trothar which means protector. Protecting not just a dragons hoard of gold, but his mate and truest treasure Aulways was what I had in mind for his name.
• What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
A silver with blue western dragon. I'm a huge fan of dragons, and have depicted myself as a dragon for years before I joined the fandom. As stated earlier I used to play quite a bit of Dungeons and Dragons and one of my favorite dragons is the silver for its tendency of helping the humanoids more then others along with hiding among them transformed to watch over them.
• What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eye/ect
OrnTrothar has mostly silver scales with light blue under belly accented with black spikes and horns. Along his jaw is a blue colored beard of hair. Irl I have dark brown almost black hair and pretty much have always had some form of beard since I started growing hair on my jaw. If it wasn't for the fact I'd have to do so much bleaching and my work doesn't allow unnatural hair colors I probably would do the occasional blue coloring.
Both silver and blue are two of my favorite colors. Being inspired by the silver dragons from DnD helped but was also inspired by my family's coat of arms depicting a silver castle on a blue field.
• What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?
OrnTrothar has pretty close if not exactly the same personality as myself, though probably a bit more confidence. As I'm more on the shy side (save when I'm forced to be social like at work) I generally tend to be more on the quiet side preferring to read a book or curled up with Aulways watching tv.
When creating him I pictured OrnTrothar being more like the inner dragon I feel stir inside myself at times. He does have my protective and caring personality, along with rage when what he cares about is hurt or in danger. Of course he also gets to more easily display my sexual urges in art.
• What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you in RL?
Probably the necklace he wears that depicts a rune for love. There have been times I wished I had a similar necklace but then I'd have to compete between it and my irl necklace with my deceased grandfathers die he gave me after learning what DnD was and how it used dice.
• What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
Keep up the good work protecting Aulways, and one day we hope to get more art of you two.

A silver with blue western dragon. I'm a huge fan of dragons, and have depicted myself as a dragon for years before I joined the fandom. As stated earlier I used to play quite a bit of Dungeons and Dragons and one of my favorite dragons is the silver for its tendency of helping the humanoids more then others along with hiding among them transformed to watch over them.
• What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eye/ect
OrnTrothar has mostly silver scales with light blue under belly accented with black spikes and horns. Along his jaw is a blue colored beard of hair. Irl I have dark brown almost black hair and pretty much have always had some form of beard since I started growing hair on my jaw. If it wasn't for the fact I'd have to do so much bleaching and my work doesn't allow unnatural hair colors I probably would do the occasional blue coloring.
Both silver and blue are two of my favorite colors. Being inspired by the silver dragons from DnD helped but was also inspired by my family's coat of arms depicting a silver castle on a blue field.
• What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?
OrnTrothar has pretty close if not exactly the same personality as myself, though probably a bit more confidence. As I'm more on the shy side (save when I'm forced to be social like at work) I generally tend to be more on the quiet side preferring to read a book or curled up with Aulways watching tv.
When creating him I pictured OrnTrothar being more like the inner dragon I feel stir inside myself at times. He does have my protective and caring personality, along with rage when what he cares about is hurt or in danger. Of course he also gets to more easily display my sexual urges in art.
• What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you in RL?
Probably the necklace he wears that depicts a rune for love. There have been times I wished I had a similar necklace but then I'd have to compete between it and my irl necklace with my deceased grandfathers die he gave me after learning what DnD was and how it used dice.
• What is one thing you think you would say to your fursona if you could meet?
Keep up the good work protecting Aulways, and one day we hope to get more art of you two.

Just realized as I was typing my initial response to this question that I've had him for two years now. On that time he hasn't changed at all.

In any case yay for going up to level 28 years old, and a bigger yay for it being my first birthday to spend with Aulways not over a Skype call XD. My beautiful and wonderful mate was even so kind as to make me a cake that was absolutely delicious :3

Life Update
General | Posted 9 years agoI've been a bit quite lately, so just wanting to post that I am indeed still alive and living with Aulways happily. <3
It's been a busy month or two since the move from my family to her's, having to do alot of things that comes with moving between states. Had to go through a couple of finger printing procedures for the state's records, as well as applying to transfer my Nursing Assistant license over so that I can get a job. Granted I've been taking things pretty slow in some areas I've enjoyed my 'vacation' while waiting for the places I've applied at to respond.
That ended today thankfully since the first place I applied at had finally cleared my background check along with a few other things. I'll be starting my new job this next Monday working 7a-7p, two to 4 days a week with alternating weekends. Super not looking forward to working 12hrs/day when I spent the last 5 years doing 8hr shifts but I suppose it's a trade off for having more days off. Just hope Aulways doesn't get too bored while I'm away especially with her kid getting ready to start school about a week later. lol
With the eventual paychecks coming my way that'll mean more art to get in the future hopefully, though bills and whatnot will always come first. Granted I'd prefer getting Aulways presents over things for myself. ^^
That's about it I guess, I live such a boring life haha.

On the Move!

Things are finally happening, The first was my last day at my work place of 3 years. On the 11th Aulways will be flying up to where I am so that I can drive with a companion in my move down south to Florida.
With this move I'll finally be able to call this long distance relationship stuff I've been putting up with to a end and finally be with someone who loves and cares about me like I do for them.
Not too mention getting a change of scenery from the small town I've lived in for 17 of my 27 years XD
Can't wait, and nervous as heck all at the same time.

1. Who eats more?
Mostly depends on what we are eating, but more then likely me unless it's something green like salads XD
2. Who said “I love you” first?
If memory serves I did over Skype one night rendering her speechless for a good minute or two. A miracle in itself sometimes lol
3. Who is the morning person?
We are both much more night owl-y then is good for us, and prefer waking up closer to the afternoon, but probably her since she tends to wake up earlier thanks to her son more then her own power. Though I'm more then capable of waking up and being fairly bright eyed when I need to be.
4. Who sings better?
I'm certain she does, and she's certain that I do, while we both think our own singing is horrible. So... Tie?
5. Who’s older?
Me by a couple of years. *puts his old man outfit on*
6. Who’s smarter?
While I have had more school/book education, I like to think she has more life/street education, so we actually balance each other out fairly well. While there are times I'll think of things, there are times she'll think of other things I can't.

She has a shorter fuse, to which I suppose I'm pretty good at reeling her back in, but we haven't seen how she'll handle mine since I don't get angry easily. Though the few times I have it's been fairly dragon-ish in the rampage department so idk lol

We both know how, though when we finally get together to live with each other she'll probably do more.

She washed while I would try to help by drying.

Don't really have assigned sleeping sides, but when I visited I was on the right and her on the left. We did swap a few times just because, but we much prefer looking at each other with her on my shoulder and me on my back.

I think both of us are competent enough to do most normal things on a computer, though I've had some training in programming (not my favorite thing to do), and she's quite a bit more accomplished in other fields.

She has a dog, and in my house I share 2 cats and 3 chinchillas with my family. Of the five only one cat is really mine and he loves my mother a whole lot more then me despite adopting him from someone just leaving him behind while moving. When I move to be with her I'll probably leave him with mom just because my family would miss him too much, and will give me an excuse to get that lizard I've always wanted. lol

We are currently paying our own bills, though I have a true source of income (job) and tend to spoil her with gifts every once and a while.

More then likely Aulways, I can cook some things but most are more breakfast/lunch items.

We can both drive, but since I was the one that visited her after flying out she drove the entire time, and I'll return the favor when she comes to see me. ;P

After playing Minecraft and Skyping for a while we both just kinda came to the conclusion (be it at the same time out loud, or seperate times in our heads.) that we wanted to go out with the other feeling that we match up quite well.

Online, played Minecraft mostly while Skyping. IRL, a game of putt putt (I won despite trying to give her handicaps at certain points), a meal out at Chick-fil-A, and another day we went to a resturant Melting Pot where we learned fondue isn't cheap.

Metricfox, they didn't know that my little sister was awaiting her first baby as was my parents with their first grandbaby. Well last night my little sister went to the hospital and finally at 11:37am he arrived!
Since myself, dad, and my littlest sister stayed home we only just heard from mom who stayed the night with 'mommy' sis and haven't gotten any pics or stats yet. Despite this, so excited that he's finally here! Sadly I will have to go to work as apparently this isn't important enough to call off from working at a nursing home according to my supervisor all while congratulating my sister. v-v
This only gets me more excited for when it's my turn at the parenthood wheel, but till then guess I'm Uncle Orn. :P
