Limited sale commissions open to get boyfriend here!
Posted 12 years agoHeya guys! I'm opening up for some sale commissions through thanksgiving to help cover the costs of getting my boyfriend over here for a few weeks. I'm offering three styles right now, (all 4in1 weave) that I know I can get out the door fast - plain bracelets with toggles, stretchy EPDM bracelets, and maille handflowers. These make *great* options for Christmas presents - everyone seems to love chainmaille. It's unique, it's durable, and it can suit just about any situation!
I'll be using up the stock of rings I have on hand - so if you're interested and would like a specific colour, be sure to ping me soon! The form with links to examples and ring colours is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/188.....U8sxA/viewform
As ever, thanks for looking!
-Oscelot
(Also, if you want to lend a hand but have no money, please feel free to tweet/post/tumblr/facebook/whatever a link back here, anything helps!)

Signal Boost

I don't know this person myself, but I wanted to signal boost. It sounds like a terrible situation, and hopefully we can make it better somehow.

Will be a little quiet
Posted 13 years agoSooooooooo.. I just got a tooth pulled. It was a bastard to get out; It broke at the gum, so it took 40 minutes to pull. As a result my head feels like my skull is attempting to split off and run away. Just wanted to throw something up to say thanks for any favs/watches/comments that I haven't got to replying to yet. I'll still be aroundish, but I'm going to be a little slow replying to people.
Update on Toki for those interested.
Posted 13 years agoToki's back home from the vet, along with the results from the lab. The results are somewhat distressing.
"Correlating with the prolonged clinical history of pododermatitis, these biopsies have sampled markedly severe chronic inflammatory lesions. There is no evidence of a neoplastic process. Instead, the observed mass affect consists predominantly of proliferative edematous inflamed granulation tissue and fibroplasia, occurring subjacent to the markedly severe ulceration and necrosis. This type of pododermatitis in small rodents can progress to life threatening deep tissue infection and osteomyelitis, and can be extremely difficult to resolve"
TL;DR: he had necrosis in the bumble, the cross sections revealed bacteria through-out, which had started eating away at the bone. I don't entirely understand it myself, this is one of the few times that medical stuff goes over my head, but the plan now is to let his foot heal up - he's been very good about not nibbling at it or anything, and then once that's healed we're going to do xrays and feel it, see if the bone's doing any better now that the bumble's been removed. I haven't got a clue what we're doing if it hasn't, but amputation is a likely outcome if it comes to that, so fingers crossed that it gets better on its own.
On the upside, he's a strong baby, and he's been doing really well with everything. He hasn't been nibbling at his sutures or toes or anything, which is really strange for rats. Now that his sutures are out, his foot is looking a LOT less swollen, and he's no longer leaking serum - it seems that the bone itself was swollen, and that's what was making it hard for the blood to return to the heart. Apparently he has a fan base in the vet's office now.. the dr said he had passed through everyone's arms and everyone was dying over how big and cute he is. ;) He's currently curled up in his cage zonked out.. being adored is hard work, especially when you're recovering from surgery :3. The wound looks a lot better than I expected it to though, and hopefully he'll heal up soon. Okay, this ended up longer and more rambling than I expected since it's now taken me *looks* two hours to get this written up, but hopefully it sheds some light on the situation for those interested.

Help.. rat medical :-\
Posted 13 years agoIf y'ever wanted to get a commission from me, now would be a good time to. We've racked up hundreds and hundreds of dollars in medical care for the rats over the last few months, and it looks like we're in for a new wave of it. Here's what happened:
Toki and Dar were my two remaining rats after Loki died. Then recently, Dar died too. Suddenly, Toki's immune system just went through the floor, likely due to the depression. All the things that were bothering him suddenly got worse. He'd had a bumble on his back right foot for a while, and that suddenly ballooned and became so large he was walking on the bumble and his toes didn't touch the ground until he rolled forward into the next step. It did it in a week or so. We decided to take him into the vet, and they couldn't get any fluid out of it, so they were afraid it may have been a cancerous mass rather than like a blister or somesuch.. that was friday. Tuesday we took him in to have surgery to remove it. He went under once, they took off the bumble and sent it off to the lab (we're still waiting on the results, it has to go to an "exotics" lab), and sutured him up. Then they had to put him back under because he was reacting poorly or something and they took out the internal sutures. He came home, looked okay though his foot was swollen. Then last night I noticed his foot was really red, like the skin was stretching too much. it was red and sore looking inbetween his toes etc, and his foot kept secreting this weird clear substance that was lightly sticky. Turns out that was Serum. As in blood serum. Basically it turns out his blood was getting down into the limb just fine, but not coming back up. I don't know what that means functionally, but practically it means his foot wept.
We took him in to the vet because they heard that and wanted to see him. The vet *gasped*. I have never in my entire life with animals seen a vet gasp before. She was really upset that his foot was reacting that way. She's been a vet for quite a while, and she's never seen any animal respond like that. So now he's going to be staying the night and most of the day, which worries me. I hate leaving him alone. They're going to take out the last of the sutures, and since it's only been two days since the surgery it's likely to be messy as frak. This last visit didn't cost anything since it was a followup, thankfully, but this could very easily snowball into something much bigger. If they can't get his foot under control they may have to amputate it. We're all hoping it doesn't go there, both for the obvious reasons and also the fact that he's an older rat, and we don't know how he'll heal.
Anyway, the point of this is if you want to <s>throw money at me</s> commish me, now would be a good time. Check out my commission spread http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4173812/ for prices. Thanks for reading!

Feature Wish
Posted 13 years agoSo I've decided I would REALLY love TAGS for journals. Start with sitewide tags of the following: Open for/Closed for/Info about commissions, Items for sale, Memes, Slice of Life.
I never have the money for commissions so I don't care if people are open for commissions.. being able to go through and bulk delete all the commission journals alone would probably get me down from 5,552J to 3k. Being able to delete the memes I never read? Yeah. I'd practically have no journals to go through. =P
and yes, if you reply with "lern2nuke" you're getting ignored. =P

Paypal.
Posted 13 years agoI heard about this when it happened, was surprised that others hadn't, so I'm going to share it here.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andre.....b_1301306.html Go read this. Paypal is SERIOUSLY overreaching. if they're going to act like this about *erotica*, imagine how they're going to act about transactions for ART? In case you don't think this affects furry porn, read this part in particular: "Smashwords will no longer allow authors to sell erotica featuring "pseudo-incest" (between stepchildren and step-parents, for instance) or "shape-shifters in paranormal romance" engaging in sex while in "were-creature" form. Smashwords' new guidelines apply only to works labelled as "erotica," so other genres (including your Woody Allen biography) are okay. For now." Note the shape shifters and the "sex while in were-creature" form. That's what we all boil down to eventually - "were-creatures". Please sign the petition to get paypal to stop being so frakking evil, pass this on, and consider a different payment service if at all possible. I know the others aren't very large yet, but if we actually flood away from paypal... who knows.

Kitteh in need
Posted 14 years agoThese are good friends of mine, so I can guarantee it's a real thing. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are both rescues, they're the only survivors of their litter after raccoon attacks. Eleri has been fostering them despite the family's existing financial issues, and these issues with Dee are clearing them out completely to the point where they're considering bankrupcy. Please help if you can. Also, if you buy any item from me during this crisis, 75% (or more) will go to help them out. http://www.tezhme.net/tweedle/

8 favs.
Holy bujeebus.
In other news, I'll be making some more Stuff tonight.. going to work on a trade, also working on something for a friend in australia, and also also working on something for someone who was very kind to me recently, so hopefully there will be piccies soon. I'm still in and out due to how mentally and physically exhausted I've been lately, but I'm trying.

Exhaustion
Posted 14 years agoBeen a very long week or so. Incredibly exhausted, fighting off a chest cold or something. Just wanted to apologize to anyone waiting for a reply from me - hopefully I'll be doing better soon.
Update on ratties
Posted 14 years agoDar's all better! We're finishing up his antibiotics, and he's had more energy than he has in months. He's bouncing around like a ratlet again. ^_^
Rats.
Posted 14 years agoMy rat Dar is showing signs of what took his brother Loki. We're taking him to the vet on Monday, but this is likely to turn into an expensive trip as I am going to INSIST on cultures being done this time around to find out if it's something like CAR Bacillus, so that we can find the proper treatment. In addition, there's likely to be a great deal of ongoing care as it takes at least three weeks to completely recover from a myco flare up, and the vet will want to see them again for a followup, and possibly again after that. Loki didn't respond to Baytril/Enrofloxacin, but I hope it was just because his immune system was already so compromised being inbred, and that Dar won't have the same problem... if he does respond to the Baytril then we may be able to trim the number of vet visits this is going to take.
Point being, we're going to be pretty strapped. (Yeah, you know it's coming..) So if anyone has been wanting to commission me, now would be the time to. (yep, there it is.) I can do maille necklaces and bracelets with what I have here, for bigger things like belts and custom hackey sacks I'll probably need to order out for materials, but I can make those too. I also have a few items that I made for the *last* AC that I just haven't had the energy to post, so I'll put those up and see if there's any interest. You can see colors and some weaves here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2236131/ and my actual commission sheet here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4173812/

Question on what people would like to see...
Posted 14 years agoSo I haven't been doing much chainmaille or jewelry lately, as all y'all may have noticed. I've been having problems with my hands and other joint issues, so it's hard to work on anything for more than five minutes at a time. However.. I have been spending plenty of time sculpting/building stuff in SL. Would you like to see that too, or no?
Just a quick shout out
Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to thank everyone who's watched/faved/showed interest over the last few months. ^_^
Heads up
Posted 15 years agoJust wanted to let you all know, I'm working on the backend for a convention this weekend, so I'm pretty busy, and have been for the last two weeks or so. Thank you ALL for the favs, watches, comments etc. I'm not trying to be a jackass who doesn't reply, I'm just swamped. ;)
My stuff at AC! MOAR INFO!
Posted 15 years ago Okay, some more info: My maille will be at booth A14. I'll be sending stretchy bracelets, some collars, keychains, dreamcatchers, at least one wrapped bottle, as well as info and forms for commissions. I'm so excited!
My stuff at AC!
Posted 15 years agoYay! A local acquaintance of mine is going to AC, and just asked if I wanted him t take my stuff with him to sell! I don't have a booth number yet (I'll try and wrest one from him before he leaves), so keep your eyes peeled. ^_^
I feel like a real mailler. ^_^
Posted 15 years agoGuess what you guys? I GET TO WORK IN SILVER. XD I feel like I leveled up. It should be here soon, along with some Xuron tweezernose pliers to help out, because I'm going to be making a piece with rings less than a mm across. x_x still... I GET TO WORK WITH SILVER YIPPEEEEEE!
Also, the new website is pretty much done.. I just need to write an intro and run a test transaction to make sure everything's set up the way it's supposed to be. ^_^

I'll be linking it as soon as the kinks are ironed out... it's 90% done now, just need to get a few things fixed and added... and make sure the paypal pass through works the way it's supposed to. Hurray!

Attempting to get caught up
Posted 16 years agoYou people post way too many journals. =P Will hopefully be posting more art soon.. have a bunch of stuff photographed, I just have to actually get off my butt and process it.
Going to be away for a little
Posted 16 years ago For those of you who don't know, I've been really ill over the past month or so. I've also broken out into really bad hives.. and while we aren't sure exactly what's causing them, stress definitely influences them. Because my online interactions can be a source of stress for me, I'm going to be away from FA and DA for the next week or so as part of an effort to lower the overall stress level in my life, and to see if the lack of stress helps me get better. If anyone needs to contact me, feel free to contact me through my Etsy: http://northoffebruary.etsy.com
I also still have my 7$ bracelet sale open to help recoup my ongoing medical costs, and if you're interested, the details are here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/758477/
Thank you for your understanding and patience
