.: Update :. It's Been A Hot Minute...
Posted 3 years agoHello there!
Sooo...I guess it's been 7 years since I last posted and well...what do you know...I didn't even use those other sites. Go figure.
Anyway. Hm. I don't have many watchers, but it's fine. I'm more so writing this for myself than anyone else.
Let's see...what have I done in the past 7 years...
Well. I don't really draw anymore. SHOCKER. Yep. I know. Who would have thought. Real glad I went to art school, that was a good use of money/time. Oh well. These things happen I guess.
I lived in Canada at some point. Got married. Moved to Minnesota. Moved to Iowa. Moved back to Minnesota. Currently still in Minnesota.
In Iowa we adopted Zorro. He passed away at 10 months old to Leukemia. That was sad. We adopted Julian. aka pumpkin cat. We had him for 4 years before he passed away to heart failure 2 years ago. We then got another cat. A balinese. This time we went to a breeder. I didn't want to, but my husband was tired of rescue cats dying even though, well, there wasn't anything we could do. Now we have Casper aka "the baby". He is almost a year old and I love him so much, he's so soft and affectionate, he is the best cat.
We recently got a puppy. About 3 months ago? He's a pure bred kooikerhondje that we named Remy, short from Rembrandt because some of his art works feature kooikerhondjes. We drove all the way to Iowa to get him. He is the happiest and goodest of boys. I also love him so much.
My first dog, Astrid, will be 10 in January. She's so old, but she is the goodest and best of all doggos. She is a gentle sweet girl, always has been. Tricks turned 9 this year. She'll be 10 in July.
Tricks was recently diagnosed with double ACL tears. YAY...said no one...
I've been working as a receptionist at a dog boarding facility for the past year. I've been putting a lot of hours in to possibly afford Tricks' surgery. It is very expensive.
We also aren't sure about it. We're book for surgery for December 15th, but that's surgery #1. At least 6 months, at a minimum, after the first surgery she'll have to have a second one. They can't do surgery on both knees due to her age and struggle to walk currently. It'll just be too difficult if they operate on both knees at the same time. She has a long road of recovery if that's the route we go. Our other option is to get her support braces and continue pain medication, which harms her liver/kidneys. Which. Even with surgery she'd still need it. So regardless of which option. We're still going to destroy her liver/kidneys with pain medication. With surgery she'll just be able to walk better.
Right now she walks pretty good and wants to play with the puppy. She still wants to her usual doggo things, so it's hard to say if surgery is the correct solution. I've gotten a lot of opinions on it, so feel free to share any that you might have. I'm really interested in anyone's opinions because it's so hard and we have to wait until December 15th anyway.
Also at some point my family in Canada disowned me. I forget how many years it's been. Maybe 5? Maybe 4. I honestly couldn't tell you.
Well. Bye. Until the next 7 years! Probably. Maybe. Who knows!
