First of all, I want to apologize for having been so quiet the past few months. I'm in my final semester at college and am set to graduate in less than two weeks, so needless to say, I've been pretty absorbed in thesis projects and such for that. That being said, as far as Otakon goes this year, I am actually taking a hiatus as a friend invited me to check out Blerdcon with her ( and I really only have the funds for one summer con).
There can still be a furmeet at the con if you guys desire, but me not going and not having an active membership means that I can't put in the time/location requests once they open up. I can still manage things on here and will reach out on social media as well, but I will require assistance from somebody who is going and wants to run things from that end. If you want to help or know somebody that could, I'd really appreciate it!

Otakon has put up their schedule and we now have the time and place for our meet up!
Saturday, August 11th, 11am-12pm at Photoshoot 1. I'm pretty sure that this is the same spot we had last year and I will provide directions once I know for sure.
Also a side note, the Naruto shoot is right after ours so assuming we take our entire hour, it will start to get pretty crowded near the end of our time as cosplayers start to gather for that.

I am very bad at updating this page and I apologize for that. Life just loves to get in the way. That being said, I saw we had a ton of new watchers and wanted to thank everybody for doing so. It's almost time for this year's Otakon and with it, our official furmeet! I've made an event page on facebook that I will link at the end of this, I hosted it on my cosplay page by mistake so if the host name confuses you, that's why. I've already sent in the application for our location/time but as far as I know, no replies have been sent out yet so when I do get that info, I will update the event page. I dug up the photos that I took last year and will still upload them on this page. I'll be sure to give all updates here as I receive them!

First off, I'd like to thank everybody who was able to show up on either day. We have a much smaller turnout than usual but I feel that several factors were against us in that regard. Perhaps next year once things are figured out, we'll go back to our usual amount.
I have a few pictures that I took on Fri and Sat and will upload them here once I get a chance to edit them. If anybody has pictures that they want submitted too, feel free to send them my way.

To recap, we are having two meets; our "official" meet listed on the schedule at the Grand South East Lobby and one on Saturday 12:30-1:30 for which we will meet near Registration and relocate after about 15min to give people time to show up.
I plan to arrive extra early to make sure people find their way alright and I will be wearing a bright yellow fox kigu so keep a look out for that (or suits, tails, etc) if you get a little lost. Can't wait to see everybody there!

Okay, it seems like there is a fair amount of interest in having a meet on Saturday as well, so we will just have the two meets. We have our official one on Friday and Saturday's will be the same time (12:30-1:30). Since we will have to move to an unofficial spot for that one, I think meeting somewhere like Registration would be a good idea. I'll scout out locations on Friday and then we can relocate after we all meet up.
Also, I am planning to bring bottled water for anybody suiting to the meetups. If you know for sure that you will be suiting on a particular day, lemme know if it's either or both so I can get a good idea of how much water I need to buy.
And finally, on the topic of photographers. Currently, I am planning to bring my camera and take photos and such, but I don't have a tripod sadly. If anybody wants to help take photos or anything else in that regard, let me know!

Otakon has finally released their schedule and....completely ignored my request for a Saturday meet. Our official time is Friday 12:30-1:30pm in the Grand South East Lobby. I know very well that this will be very inconvenient to anybody heading to the con that Friday.
My question to you all is whether or not you'd like to have an unofficial meet on Saturday as well. It would be the same time but we'd have to find another location. The con center is big so I don't see this being an issue though. If people are interested, then we'll just have the two furmeets.

So, either Otakon has finally put up their submission form for photoshoots..or I just finally saw it. Either way, I filled out a form to try and snag us a shot. Keeping my previous concerns in mind, I tried to get a timeslot around Saturday at noon. This way, it should have limited interference with any main events and be early enough for most people. Once I get confirmation that we secured a spot, I will let you know here.

Hey guys, Loki here! Sorry for being for quiet the past few months. It's been a tad hectic around here, but now it's finally time to focus on getting this year's meet off of the ground. There are a few issues to discuss regarding times and locations.

While the con used to have reserved spots in the past, with the new location, no such thing has seemed to appear this time. That likely means we're on our own with that regard. I have personally never been to this convention center before so I can't recommend any good areas to potentially meet up. Any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated. The same goes for times as well. The Sat afternoon slot seemed to work well in the past but we have the concerts both friday and saturday and I'd like to avoid interfering with them if possible so that people don't have to miss the meet just because they bought a concert ticket.

It took me a little bit to get into this account so I also have an event set up on Facebook. I'll be cross-posting this journal there as well as including a link for those who want to reply there as well.

Again, sorry for the silence and hope you all have been doing well!

First off I have to say since Loki isn't coming that I'm the only one hosting it and putting it together. I cannot guarantee that things wont change the same day. VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: How would you guys feel about a fursuit parade? I have a layout in mind that you guys might like. This would take place almost immediately after the group photos are taken. I would stand in front leading all of you. We would start at (insert time and day here)'s meets place, and take the escalator down to the 300 floor, then after following the route I'm planning, either head back to the furmeet area or stop on the same floor at the end. I understand that the escalator might cause issues (weight, stuck fur or tails) but if we keep certain distance from either other, we could pull it off! Tell me what you guys think!

- For the official meet, a little before 12pm I will announce that the group photo will be happening soon.
- Like last year, since the photo's I take are being uploaded here (unless you tell me not to), I request that you let me stay in the middle with my tripod, I don't take up space and I just want a picture of all the furs together in the middle.

I know this isn't going to work for a lot of you, but keep in mind we will have a unofficial furmeet every day of Otakon, which will be announced here close to the con.

The only time I was able to get is 11:30am on Sunday the 14th. It will be in the same place as last year, Photoshoot 3: 400 Floor West Side.

I would like to apologize again for this again, I should have been more prepared. I did try to fight for another time but I was unable to secure it. Keep in mind this is Otakons last year in Baltimore, so a lot of people are trying to secure a spot on the schedule.

Q. What happens when Otakon moves to Washington DC?

Would 8:30pm be OK on Friday? It's either that or 11:30am on Sunday.

The room was filled on the schedule when I checked last month, now there is an opening on Friday at 8:30pm, they had to put us for Sunday at 11:30am.

Again, I apologize for signing up so late, personal family issues got in the way.

No matter what, we will have an unofficial meet on each day, those specific places will be announced on here shortly before the convention.

I did not know when sign ups for photo shoots opened so I was super late, I sincerely apologize!

We have 2 choices in times:

Friday or Saturday at 7pm or Sunday at 11:30am

BUT we are going to have a unofficial fur meet around the same area as last year! There is a huge open space at the start of the hallway of where we had it last year, and a space between the two places. If those are full, we can figure something out!

Again, I deeply apologize for signing up so late, I was hoping I would get an email like last year telling me the sign ups are open but I did not receive one.

Hello everyone! How have you been? Hope you've been doing well.

As you know Otakon is only 3 months away, ARE YOU EXCITED YET?! I sure am.

Now I don't know if you all know, but this will be Otakon's last year in Baltimore, they posted this on their website:

"It is with mixed feelings that we announce that Otakon will relocate to Washington DC, beginning with our 2017 convention, for at least five years."

I don't honestly know if I personally can make it every year in DC to host this with  loki_kitsu but I will try my best.

I haven't gotten any email yet on signing up for the space at Otakon for the photoshoot, so I'll do my best to keep you posted on when and where it will be.

I went to the meet with over 40 or so Otaku Fur buttons, now I only have 3 left~

I'd like to apologize to the people who have been going to the meet for years and got the date and time confused. Some people didn't or couldn't go because it was on Friday and not Saturday, the way it's been for years. Due to a scheduling conflict, it was either Friday at 2:30pm at the same location, or Saturday in the main lobby of the Charles Street entrance where we would have no room to sit and chat or take photos.

But next year, I will push it so we can have a furmeet all weekend! Friday through Sunday! Wouldn't that be awesome?!

Anyway, thank you to each and every one of you for coming, I personally had a great time and I hope you did too!

The meetup/photo shoot is free obviously, there is no requirements to join us, but there are some rules. Obviously follow the rules of the con, be nice and don't be mean. As for the photo shoot, since we have an hour and a half, most of the time will just be the meet. If you want your picture taken in front of the backdrop, feel free to ask and I'll gladly take it for you with your camera or mine. If you don't want your pictures uploaded, please tell me, I won't upload pictures of people with their actual face showing without permission. This means if you don't want to be uploaded onto this FA, please don't get into the group photo.

The group photo will happen around 30 mins before our time is up, most likely around 3:30pm. At 3:20pm i'll get everyone's attention to let you know the group photo will be taken in 10 mins. That'll give everyone time to get in their suits or finish up anything they are doing.

If it's OK, the first part of the group photo will be fursuiters only, like they do at other big meets. Then after that anyone can join. Then before it's over, I'll join everyone in the shot. The group photo shouldn't last 30 mins so after the group photo feel free to stick around and hang out. But at 4pm everyone will have to make their way out because of the next group of people have the space.

ALSO! FREE OTAKU FUR BUTTONS! I will have limited amount of them so first come first gimme!

Ok, after working with the Cosplay Coordinator for several days, we came up with the only plausible time you guys would be willing to have the photo shoot.

The official time of the Photo Shoot/Meetup is Friday on the 400 level from 2:30pm-4pm

I know it's not Saturday like last year, there's a reason for that.

I accidentally filled out the form incorrectly and we were set for the Charles st lobby 1:30pm-3pm on Saturday. But running the shoot there would be nearly impossible for several reasons, one being that I can't yell loud enough for all of you to hear me >.<. Also, it would be almost impossible to take a proper picture because of the mass amount of people who walk through that area of the con. The only time on the 400 level on Saturday he had for me was 9:30am and 6:30pm, so that was your choices.

I made a mistake, and I apologize ^^;

So, there's the time, spread it around and invite your friends, we had a ton of fun last year!

Also, I will be bringing what's left of the Otaku Furs buttons from last year to hand out! FREE! First come first serve, and I can always make more if we need more.

For the first 100,000 people who register, you can have your badge shipped directly to you for 10$, skipping that long (last year it was 2 hour) line in the hot sun!

Don't worry, if you still want to have your badge mailed to you, there are at least 5,000 or so people left to register.

I know it's not really news on the meet/photo shoot, but it'll help all those furs who have problems with the heat or can't make it to pre-registration on Thursday.

 Inktail brought up a interesting idea, how about we get a banner and hold it up for the photos? Last year Otakon staff was nice enough to give us a Otakon 2014 backdrop, if it's the same this year I can ask if we can put the banner on it.

So, any ideas on the banner? Inktail said it would be a good idea to have a few furs on it and our name, I'm pretty sure I can go to Office Depot to get the banner made, but any artists out there who want to draw their fursona on the banner in their art style? Or maybe draw some others on there too? It's a little early to make anything official yet, but it's a great start to a awesome idea! Thanks Inktail!

Hello all!

It's been a while but we are still here and we haven't forgotten you~

So, I got an email from the Otakon Cosplay Coordination Department Head about this year's photoshoot/meet, and the sign-up sheet will be up soon!

Now, I would like input from you guys and gals, what time would you like the meet to be at? Was 3pm better for you last year or was 1pm better? It will be on Saturday of course, but what time works best for you?

Pre-registration for Otakon is not up yet, but when it is, it will be posted here!

Also, how was your experience last year? What did you like and didn't like about the meet/photoshoot? What can be changed to make it more fun and enjoyable for everyone?

Two awesome fur meets, thank you all for coming!

The official meet went great, the staff was very nice and told me everything I needed to know about the space we had the meet at. Everyone who showed up was very kind and took turns using the Otakon backdrop for photos, you didn't have to, but thank you. It made things a lot easier for those who really wanted to take a picture with a awesome backdrop.

I'm glad everyone liked the buttons! Everyone stood around with paws out, I couldn't help but smile. I still have a LOT of buttons left over, if you know you're going to a MD fur meet or convention, I'll be more than happy to share some with you.

The unofficial meet went good as well, we just had to gather a few furs looking around for where to meet because I personally didn't know exactly around registration to meet. It was mostly laying around talking and taking the group photos.

I have been exhausted from the convention and have not uploaded all the photo's I have, they will be uploaded very soon, I promise.

Thank you all for coming to the first Photo Shoot version of the Otakon furmeet!

Have you furs heard of Fursonacon? I was lucky enough to be the 2nd person to sign up for the con, the whole convention.

I was told this would be just like a normal fur convention with dealers, gaming, panels, and so on. The con is scheduled for September 16-18th 2016, so you have plenty of time to pre-register. If you pre-register at Otakon, it's only 20$! The price at the door will be 45$ so it'll be worth it to get it paid off now. The con is going to be in VA Virginia Beach, not too far from Maryland.
