Sorry this is posted so late, I just needed to make sure I got all the info on my end correct.

This is a meetup/photo shoot, so I will be setting up my tripod in front of a backdrop and ready to take pictures. I haven't seen the backdrop yet so I have no idea what it will look like.

The official meet is at 3pm on the 4th floor on the West Side, it will be easy to spot when you go up the stairs (hopefully, I will scout the place tomorrow).

From 3pm to 3:45pm I will be asking everyone who is in a suit or dressed up if they want to get their picture taken in front of the backdrop or otherwise.

I will be handing out Otaku Fur buttons to everyone for free! Don't worry, I got 150 of them made by the wonderful artist  TentacleLoveGoddess who printed them for me. I will also be handing out water to anyone who needs it. It's very important that you ask me if you need water, I can't just go up to everyone asking if they need water. I will have a backpack with a limited amount bottled water inside.

I will be wearing my pink bunny tail, wearing my Strawbunny badge, and maybe wearing my Minecraft head, so I'll be easy to spot. I'll be wearing this badge:

At 3:45pm I will kindly ask anyone who wants to be in the group photo to line up and get ready. Keep in mind I might be everywhere taking pictures so I apologize in advanced if I bump into you. If you are attending the meet but not getting in the group photo, I beg of you, please don't make the furs in the shot move to different poses every few seconds, people need to take some good shots and that takes time.

The rules are the same as Otakon rules of course, just have fun and be respectful to one another.

It might be obvious, but  loki_kitsu myself and the Otakon staff members are in charge. I filled out a form that makes it so I am responsible for anything that happens during the meet, so please keep that in mind.

The unofficial meet will be next to registration on Saturday at 3pm.

Be sure to thank  loki_kitsu for letting me host again this year, I had a lot of fun last year and everyone was very kind when it came to getting everyone organized.

I would first like to thank all those who posted this group on their FA page, it means a lot to me and I'm sure it does to Loki as well. It shows your support for this group and you are spreading the word, making the meet even bigger and better!

OK! So, Loki and I were able to book the official meet for 3pm on Friday, 400 Level West Side (4th floor). The description of the area from the Otakon website: "this area is located on the west side of the 4th floor. There will be pipe and drape set up along one wall to give a nicer backdrop for photos." I am working on finding the exact place on the 4th floor we will meet at, but I don't think it will be hard to find because it's a small area.

The unofficial meet will be next to registration on Saturday at 3pm.

I am currently waiting for an email back from the Otakon Cosplay Coordination Department Head (OCCDH) to see if I can bring some things to the official meet. I don't know for sure if those things are allowed. All of these items are supplied by me, except the buttons.

Things I want to bring/supply for you all:
- Candy bowl: a bowl of candy! Mostly Jolly Ranchers or anything else you guys/girls want;
- Bottled water: Free bottled water for anyone who needs it;
- Poster: For people to sign in their favorite color!
- Tableto hold all these things;
- Thin blue tape: This is spread on the floor to organize everyone so everyone is in the picture, easy to remove tape, too.

All of these items are free (bowls, table, tape, and poster not included) to take, just remember not to grab handfuls of buttons or take water when you don't really need it.

I have not gotten specific details on how the official meet is going to work, I just know that there will be an Otakon staff member nearby making sure everything on their end runs smoothly. I also asked if there will be a sign that says "Furries" or "Photo shoot 3", so I'll have that info as soon as I get a reply from the OCCDH.

A big thanks to  TentacleLoveGoddess for supplying us with 150 Otaku Furs buttons! They will (if it goes according to plan) be on that table in a bowl FOR FREE! Yes, you can have your very own Otaku Furs button! I just thought it would be a cool idea to give these out to everyone who comes. I don't know anyone who doesn't want free stuff, especially shiny buttons.

Next week I will be posting one more journal on any new information I receive about things like the exact location on the 4th floor or if I can actually bring those things I mentioned and hand them out for free.

RESULTS OF CONTACTING OTAKON STAFF:

"1. Water Bottles - We can't tell you that you can bring a large amount of water bottles into the BCC because of the contracts we have in place and have to follow. But if your shoot's attendees magically managed to find a water bottle that they had for their own personal use we can't stop them.

2. Candy - Unfortunately because of our contract with the BCC and Centerplate and the concern over trash, we can't allow people to put out candy.

3. Table - Our convention decorator, Hargrove, and the Unions who set up the BCC won't allow this.

4. Tape - Unfortunately there is no tape allowed on any carpets of the BCC. We cannot use tape on the carpet of the BCC and neither can our attendees. If tape is put down, we have to pay to have the carpet replaced.


There won't be a sign but a nice pretty backdrop of pipe and drape.

Now I do have a few solutions to the questions you were asking because we want you to be safe too. You can have non-costumed people guide your participants into place."

I will still bring some water, just not a lot. So...that's a very disappointing email, everything I wanted to bring is against the rules.

I have filled out the info needed, the furmeet will take place officially on Friday at 3pm on the forth floor on the West Side of the convention center.

UNOFFICIALLY we will also be meeting near registration on Saturday at 3pm

 Loki_Kitsu and I had to fill out a form to make sure we have that spot, we got lucky that we even got a spot that isn't at 7-9pm

We only have the official space for 1 hour, so if you can get there 10 mins early then if no one is at our spot we can get started early.

If the schedule for "cosplay coordination" is released in the con book, it will say "Otaku Furs Furmeet"

If the official meet starts at 3pm, then around 3:30pm or 3:45pm I will start lining up people for the photo shoot.

From the beginning of the meet to the end, the tripod will be up front and in the middle of the photo shoot so I can get some good photos for this FA, the first few will be on the tripod and the the rest will be taken on the sides. And if I get into people's way, I apologize deeply but I am going to be all over the place taking as many pictures as I can.

Oh, and if you guys don't mind, I want to try to do what I did last year, take a picture of every single fur in a suit or otherwise and post them here.

ALSO please don't go so quickly with poses, I was having a really hard time (along with anyone else trying their best for photos) keeping up with all the changes in poses. I love them, but at least wait a minute or two for myself and others to get some good pictures. Last year 60% of the group photos I took were blurry due to trying to keep up. If the pose is uncomfortable, you can move on of course, I was just asking to take your time.

Since  Loki_Kitsu might not make it, that puts me in charge, the only reason being is because if something goes wrong, I'm responsible, I filled out the form with my real name and info for this space at that time.

So if you hear a pink bunny yelling, please at least hear what he has to say ^^;

I had a good idea that might help spread the word about this furmeet, I found a place where I can order buttons! It will have the Otaku Furs logo on it, this->  otaku_furs AND I will be bringing a giant poster with me, please sign it if you get a chance I will be getting it laminated! I will ask for a table or something so it's easy to sign.

You can do whatever you want at the furmeet, you can choose not to be in pictures or hog the spotlight, it's up to you <3

Edit: I just received an email from the coordinator for Otakon, there will be a staff member at the meet at all times, counting down 'till our time is up. Also they say I must know it's a Photo Shoot Zone, I think the reason why they mentioned it is that it's not a meet up, it's for photo shoots. So what I was thinking was that if we get the place that we had last year, we can all take turns in that indent in the wall for this FA, making it easier for me and others to get photos of everyone.

Long story short, from the beginning of the meet to the end, I will have a tripod up so if you want your picture taken, please let me know.

Make sure you pre-reg as soon as possible, being in line for on-site registration is looking grim...

One of my friends drew a icon for Otaku Furs, it should be finished by the end of the week or next week!

At Otakon 2014 I will be carrying a DSLR camera so I will do my absolute best job, I will be studying all year on photography, so I can take the best photo possible no matter what.

Since this will be the first Otakon for me to actually have a camera worth using, I will be setting up a tripod where the photo's will be taken, so where you see it set up is where the group shots will be taken.

I'm still going to do what I did last year, taking a picture of EVERY fursuiter I can before everyone scrambles.

I love photography with a passion, I want to learn all about it and never give up my dream.

As most of you already know by a mountain of journals, our good friend  PandaGuy passed away yesterday.

He held furmeets earlier this year giving away plushie's to friends and people who wanted them.

I think I speak for everyone who went that we will treasure those plushie's...

The reason I made this group
The reason I made this group is that I'm tired of hearing people say "Darn I missed the meet! I wish I knew it was at that time!"

I want people to be the most informed about Otakon furmeets and things of that nature.

And as for the pictures, I go through the many many pictures for you guys so you can all look at it at the same place instead of googling or searching the internet for your picture that was taken of you!

I spent 2 whole days looking through pictures, editing video's, and I haven't even unpacked yet just so I can get everything uploaded.

Hopefully I will be doing the same thing next year just I will have time each night to upload them as mini updates than all at once so I could get some well-earned sleep.

This year's Furmeet was a triumph! We went from taking photo's to making a pyramid to dancing!

The Photo's will be uploaded soon, and the Official Otakon Furmeet Video will be uploaded to youtube by Monday due to lack of a fully working computer!

Here are a few tips for Otakon! If you went to Otakon more than once then skip this info.

If you pre-registered, make sure you go on Thursday to the convention center around 3:30PM till 11PM to get your badge! Otherwise you will be be standing in line a entire day on Friday!

Bring water and your own food! Food will be expensive but water is simple to get. Every year you'll see people on every single corner selling ice cold water for 1$ each so make sure you have a few single dollars on you.

Got a plan? Do you even know where your going when you get there? When you get your badge on Thursday, you'll get a event list and a map. Use them to make a plan on what your doing!
