i've been wanting to do something like this for a while to reflect on things. now i've finally done it

q: what do you do for modding/amateur game dev?

a: i do sound work and music work.

q: what caught your interest to do so:

a: funnily enough, i tried making my own sound mod for some niche and fun ww2 tactical action game developed by best way. the mod was purely composed of hl2 sounds and low-quality material from stuff like findsounds.com, but i learned something damn it. i did this way back in either 2005 or 2006.

q: what sound artists inspire you?

a: oh man, i've got a few fellows who i really look at for inspiration. i can name off a few right off the bat: eric brosius,
yuuji takenouchi, dmitry kuzmenko, and filip oščádal

q: what have these artists worked on?

a: eric brosius has worked on thief and system shock 2, both of which i love to death. yuuji takenouch worked with from software as dark souls' main sound artist, which is probably the greatest dungeon crawler i've played in years. dmitry kuzmenko has worked with various game dev studios in the ukraine and has been credited on several on my favorite titles. some of these are STALKER and the metro series. filip oščádal is known as being the main sound artist for the vietcong series, which is an extremely atmospheric cult fps series that is known for its amazing atmosphere.

q: how have these artists influenced you?

a: i tend to have a strong focus on indoor and outdoor textures and soundscapes that are a throwback to analogue media and the age of the 1970s. alien-like soundscapes are also something that i love doing as well.

i've got a new EP that i'm going to be putting up on bandcamp in a week or so

how would you peeps feel if i went back to more slower and textural dark ambient soundscapes for a while: stuff massively inspired by artists like vladimir frey or kevin drumm
