Squeak Latex - Tired of fighting.
General | Posted 13 years agoFirstly, I want to say how sorry I am to see Stinky Skunk fall victim to another Latex Catfish rip off.
You're certainly not the first and you certainly won't be the last.
It sucks, I feel for you.
I refuse to look at journals, comment any further on the matter.
When I first started and wanted to get into this, I did send Catfish my patterns for the fox and raccoon that I had come up with.
Was looking good, (Although painfully slow and hard to deal with). I started pushing out a few of these suits.
But, they started selling them on there own website and ebay. Obviously I was pissed off, but nothing I could do about it. I shut up shop and looked at my options.
I could source local talent to put the suits together for me and follow my designs and patterns. But that would make them cost 10x the price I was currently selling them for. NOT the goal I set out to do.
Squeaky fun shouldn't just be for the rich.
I also came to realise, that it didn't matter where I was making them. After Catfish started selling my stuff, they then produced Pretty Pervy and Blackstyle items too. Including personal characters such as Rapido. (As I said, you weren't the first Stinky).
Here, China, USA, India. Made no difference.
Yes, I still have my items put together in China, I've never denied or hidden that fact. The skills are amazing, I quality check everything.
And guess what.
Your iPhone, your cars, things you think are amazing. Are made in China.
There is some terrible stuff from there, but there are some really well made items also. All depends on your quality control.
The company I use isn't associated with Catfish, not in the same building. Hell not even in the same Provence!
These latex suits are actually a new thing for them, not there normal build. But, they follow direction well and their craftmenship is amazing.
Well, looking at my suits, you tell me.
On a personal level, you deal with someone people in this world that you just want to reach through the screen and ring their neck. I've come to understand that in the fandom. You will get Juvenal, socially retarded individuals that the justification and universe that goes on inside there heads. May not be the same one that you and I live in.
Yes, i'm human. Even my temper can get the better of me at times.
Stinky is upset, I get it. I would be too.
As much as it pissed me off. He wouldn't let me upload images of his suit to my squeaklatex website or FA. Because he was worried that Catfish would see it and steal it.
Yet, he plastered these images all over the internet himself? *shrugs* I've tried to understand this one. I have no idea either.
Still, I respected his wishes and behold. It still happened.
He blames me for the copy.
He is more than welcome too, at this stage. His friends being nasty or defending him. I get it. You're looking out for someone you care about.
I'm not going to stop you. So say what you have to say.
You're welcome to add I shoot puppies for fun. It doesn't matter.
At this stage, I'll take the beatings, the name through the mud.
If you don't want to buy from me. Don't, I don't care. Those who want to buy will.
It's not a question of Coke vs Pepsi, Apple vs Andriod.
This company with continue to build copies of suits everytime someone asks for one.
That's right. Catfish aren't going to make a suit for the sake of making it. They copy and steal other peoples designs because people out there in the fetish world or fandom ASK and pay them too.
Do you know how many emails I get asking if I can make this character or this suit. This person doesn't own it, they just are too unoriginal themselves to think a concept up of their own.
Or, someone will say.

Well, it's this much my good sir.
...oh, that's too expensive. I think i'll have it produced somewhere cheaper.
Every Catfish raccoon, fox, lion etc that I see walking around that I didn't make. Is a kick in the chest.
BUT. I have friends that own these goods. Do I stop talking to them? Do I hate them? No of course not. In the end you can't stop it and you're just going to stress yourself out if you try.
Cheap latex suits, I get it. I know why you buy from them.
I'm not the only company who produces inflatable things for the fandom that have had cheap people knock off there items....
I find it Ironic that Stinky is so upset with Catfish for stealing his suit. Yet has paid them money for goods of his own and supported them.
Can you stop it from happening?
Sure, commission a suit, SHOW NO ONE! Don't even send it to your buddy across MSN. Keep it in your draw, away from the world for your eyes only.
Don't support Catfish, don't buy there items. Don't ask them to build copies of something you like.
Is this going to happen.
NOPE!
Do you know how many people I've seen knock of Oz or Duke. How many people I've seen trace or copy art.
This isn't a new thing. You're characters once they are out there will be stolen at one point or another. (Particularly if they're in the spot like a lot).
I won't let this bring be down, because of the views of a few vocal furs pointing fingers.
I'm going to continue bringing my own and your ideas to life.
I have some huskies, otters and a pig coming up in the next few weeks. So I'm excited to get those out.
No one has been more screwed over than me, (well maybe Pretty Pervy, Blackstyle and other companies out there). From Catfish Latex.

In the end, buy where you want to buy from. No point getting hung up over something you can't stop.

Fursuits, Inflatable Fursuits? (Commissions)

I've been closed for a while, been knocking back when people email or contact me.
But, i'm super keen to build another inflating fursuit like my Oz.

(Comes with an inflatable latex suit under it, which you can use separately or under other fursuits).
I'd be happy either way, normal fursuit or inflatable. Just think there needs to be more puffy suits out there!
Only one maybe two slots would be open and production would start in February. I don't want to overload myself.
So, could be anything from puffy fursuit, foam moulded fursuit (like Macroceli), or your traditional fursuit.
Note or email me if interested.
Prices range from $1600 - $3000+ for full suits, really depends on what you're after.

I was only talking with him a day ago. We where about to do a fursuit trade and purchase of that inflatable lion I had put up for sale.
(He loved it so much and wanted to make it apart of his collection)
I just sat down to respond to his note he sent me yesterday and saw wildbill's image marked R.I.P Panda Guy.
I've been speaking with Jon for over a decade. He was always there, feeling terrible or not. Fursuit on and balloons in paw.
You will be greatly missed, cons just won't be the same without you walking the halls.

I finally got around to building an inflatable rubber fursuit version of Oz.
Once you remove Oz's shirt and hat, he's a pretty generic Roo. So rather than hog and keep the design all to myself, he's now available to all as a general product.

Just curious if anyone is interested? He's brand new, I altered, fixed up the body a little and went over all the seems with uplostry thread.
He's poly filled which can be removed for cleaning.
I can bring him to IFC or Megaplex if you're attending to save on shipping.
Selling due to being to big to take back home to Australia.

Would fit someone around 6 foot. 200lbs, possibly more and certainly less. (since the suit is so padded, you can just take out or add more if need be).

Sold most of the stuff we had and have had a few more orders come in.
But there where a couple of items left over and I thought i'd ask here if anyone would be interested.

This is one of the suits I use under Oz Kangaroo and has only been used 4 times at last years MFF
Would go great under any baggy fursuit for that extra puffy look.

Well, i'll be headed off to the USA and Canada in around 11 days time.
I'm flying to Chicago via LA (only a couple hours stop over in LA) and i'll be staying with
macroceli for most of my trip.
I'm attending a non furry event in Chicago with Squeak Latex (Along with
ristin YAY!) and then will be taking a road trip to Anthrocon a few weeks later.
This will be my First AC!!
After which i'll be driving to Canada with firestormsix to stay with him for a couple of weeks and hang with all my fav canucks!
Then it's back to Chicago before flying home on the 9th of July.
I thought about squeezing Califur in there, but I really don't want to fly back and forth across the USA so much. It's too soon after IML and budget is tight.
So, the big question is. Being my first AC, I don't know what suits to bring.
I'll bring Oz and Duke, but i'm weighing up if it's worth bringing inflatable round fursuit Oz? He is quite heavy and takes up a heap of space?
Do people want to see him out and waddling about? Or is it too much walking for something like that?

Well, I got back a little earlier than expected. (lifted it early)
I'm not upset about the suspension, I broke the rules. Good intentions or not.
Those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's all in my LJ.

This one is first person footage from FurDU last year. With Furry Down Under 2012 only a few months away, was a great time to get this video up.
I can't take to much credit for it. This was all put together by the talented

I was asked by an advertising company to create an inflating suit for a Windows Mobile commercial. Was very taken back to produce something for such a big profile name.

Been CRAZY busy with work. Finally down to my last couple of fursuit commissions. I go on tour for "a certain street named after a burger bun garnish" for just over 2 months! So I won't be home till April starting next week.
The Squeak Latex business has picked up and taken off much bigger than I ever expected. Have the crew working on 25 orders over the next couple of months. Everything has been put in place and can't wait for the new designs to come out.
When I return in April, all attention will be given to www.furrydownunder.com which you should ALL totally be attending!
May, looks like I may be heading back to the states for vendor space at IML. I'll prob stick around for my first Anthrocon too.
Yikes! It's rare I know what my plans are months ahead of time. I enjoy being busy though.

MFF 2011
General | Posted 14 years agoI originally came to town for different reasons. So MFF was a bonus!
My last MFF was at the Westin back in 2009. I must say this hotel is much better. BUT! It's very spread out, on multipul levels and seems just less social than other furry cons i've been too. I actually found myself a little bored at times and in the middle of the day couldn't really find anything to do. Also, for large or odd shaped fursuits (Like Puffy Oz or Macroceli). Had no idea how to get down to the artists alley! Because we certainly couldn't fit down the tiny escalators. (Also no food close by)
Having said that, I still had soooo much fun! I don't suit as much as I used to at conventions. But I certainly got my social fix hanging in my hotel room with friends I haven't got to spend time with in a very long time.
Now, i'm sure those who follow my twitter saw a bit of a rage moment regarding the fursuit dance competition. I'm still quite upset about this and it ruined a big part of my convention and time in the USA. However, I wasn't going to let it get me so down as to make me miss the convention completely. So I pushed through it and ended up having a great time.
With the support from a couple of the judges, friends and competitors all coming up to me, sending me txts and saying they have no idea why I didn't get in, why some less entertaining dancers got ahead of me etc etc. Made me feel much better about the situation.
As i said on twitter, I didn't want to win or even place. I just wanted to dance and perform. It gives me a buzz, I enjoy doing it.
It's a shame individuals opinions about me stopped that from happening. I just know not to even try in the future, i'll just stick to doing fun youtube videos :)
(So lets move on from this and get over it, what's done is done, lessons are learned.)
The furry verity show was so much fun! I refused to let this take up hours upon hours of convention time for myself and friends performing with me. So I made sure the skit was quick and easy, little practice was needed and it ended up being a great success. Thank you to Blue, Raccoon Drew, Captain Furry, Lilifox, Machozi. Bungle Bear back stage blowing me up. Macroceli and Flamedrake for filming and Blimp Wolf for the entire 3 wishes idea.

I got to attend my first puffy party thanks to Blimp Wolf for hosting it! Got blown up by Blue, Raccoon Drew and Tally. Whilst other non suiters looked on or came up for a poke or cuddle of the round roo. Got to finally meet Tally, Ipeque and other furries that i've wanted to say hello to for quite sometime. Nice group of people, very welcoming.
(I'm sure BW will have pics of the evening up on his FA soon.)
All in all I had an amazing time! Even those nights spend lazing in bed with folks hanging out in our room as we eat Pizza or Chinese, they where the highlights for me. Picked up a new suit Jato the lion. He was a lot of fun to dance and move in of a night. Will have photos of him up soon. Big shout out to Firestormsix and Wookie for hanging out and fursuiting together.
FlameDrake, Kaz and Macroceli for putting up with me and sharing a room together. Best roomies ever!
Cooner, thank you so much for being so incredibly adorable. For letting me bunk with you a day earlier (Wednesday) a great dinner and thank you for those wonderful badges. *snugs!*

In fursuit! Seriously, I live in these things, Oz's during the day, Max at night.
What/where will you be eating?
Although I should be on a diet, I guess whatever is around. I'll most likely go out to Dinner with close friends.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If I know you well enough sure. Once again, don't take offence, it's rare I get to see my international friends.

What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
(1) Have fun!
(2) Not spread myself to thin or stress that I didn't get to do this, or hang with this person etc. Just do what I want to do.
(3) Get A LOT of hugs whilst in fursuit.

I'll be doing MFF, who's going to be there?
Still so much to do before I head over there in a few weeks. But, shouldn't be too hard to finish up projects etc.
Looking forward to seeing USA friends again. Not sure what fursuits to bring, just yet.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I've already been spoiled with shouts,notes and gifts.
I really feel loved today. I know I don't socialize online as much as I used to. So it feels wonderful that friends are still thinking about me.

I've been on tour for the last few weeks.
I'm out promoting Ben 10 and Scooby Doo for Cartoon Network.
It's been a blast! A lot of driving between states to promote the stage show coming a few weeks. But very rewarding.
Apologies if I haven't been about, or responding to emails. Internet isn't as easy to come by in some of these areas (Reception that is).
We've hit some pretty, middle of nowhere places.
Good news is, it's almost all over. I return home on the 3rd of September.
I spend my Birthday away from home (Sunday 28th), But at least I have the day off and i'll have Koneko about to keep me company.
Don't worry, i'll sure to throw a party sometime in September when I return.

But, I'm on a bit of a drawing buzz, and my gallery is filled with to much Oz! It needs some variety.
But, I am opening up 6 spots for a full colour page image.
