It's Here
Posted 13 years agoSo furs, it's my last night as a single woman! It doesn't quite seem real, but I'm getting married to my long term, long distance fiance finally! Twelve years and five thousand miles later, we're both in the same country and we'll soon both be in the same church.
Thank you to all of you who, in whatever way, have helped me over the years to deal with having a long distance relationship. I hope if nothing else we can prove that if you want something badly enough and you work hard enough, you can achieve anything. Even marrying someone from another continent after twelve years of trying!
God bless you all.

Looking for an artist for superspecial commissions...
Posted 13 years agoSo, I'm looking for someone who'd be willing to do three commissions for me. Price will be negotiable, but I'm willing to pay fairly for good work. The only catch is it's going to be *shock* humans!
Ideally the artist would be able to do three digital pictures that could be printed out to about A5 size. The style would preferably be similar to the Western comic style, but I'm open to interesting ideas. It would also involve some degree of background.
So, on to the pictures themselves. They're going to be gifts for my bridesmaids (so I need someone who can do them before 27th October!). I'd been umming and aahing over what to give them that would be a bit personalised and unusual, and I came up with the idea of giving them comic book character style persona portraits. They would be based on their real life appearance, but with lots of opportunity for artistic license. The first picture would be a steampunk-looking girl in a library with an owl, the second would be a girl in Indiana Jones getup with a whip, and the third would be a girl fighting zombies.
So, if you think you could do these, or you know someone who could, please let me know and tender a bid! I'd also appreciate if anyone can spread the word around anywhere I might be able to find someone!

Hey guys thought I'd do a competition for you to win free art!
So how well do you know me? If you know me well enough then you'd know there are two things in this plannet that I can't refuse if offered... Not its not my adorable lynx boy taryncrimson in his black gi. Tho that is rather hard to say no too. ;)
There are clues in my galleries, scraps and favourites. If you can name either one my two, favourite things and I can't ever say no too. You will win some of my best work of your fursona. Name both and have two pictures, a badge and an icon.
The rules:
You must be watching me (new watchers who join after this journal are welcome)
You must repost this journal to your FA. With a link in the comments below as well as your answer.
You can only give two answers.
Work will start after my current list. :)
I'll be watching your answers but not giving out any clues if you are closed or not.

SO HAPPY! :D
Posted 13 years agoMy fiance's visa has been granted! We can finally be together for forever! ^_____________________________^
We've been a couple for nearly twelve years now. We met when we were seventeen on a now-defunct gaming forum. Within a few months of emailing each other, we realised we were pretty much romantically attached to each other. It took a year or so, thanks to us both starting university, before I made my first trip to visit him in Texas. I genuinely don't remember much about meeting him for the first time - I have a big gap in my memory just taken over by excitement/panic in the airport racing to find him. :)
During and following our time at university I made many more trips over the Atlantic. We lived together for a lovely, if brief, six months during my time in Japan. It hurt like nothing on earth having to go home without him and all the time we were together, the number of days, hours, minutes until we'd be apart really did prey on my mind. More than anything, I'm so excited to ditch that feeling hopefully forever.
I love him, my family love him, he loves England. Hopefully, just hopefully, my life is finally coming together and all the hurdles are cleared from of our path. :)
So thank you, everyone who's ever offered me comfort and hugs when I've felt down about not being with Daniel. I hope I can spread this happiness God has blessed us with to all of you!

I'm getting married in October. o_0
Posted 13 years agoI am mildly absolutely terrified. In a good way. In a "I have four months to arrange a wedding" sort of way.
If you're reading this, you probably already know about my personal circumstances, so I won't bother explaining. Suffice to say, hopefully my fiance's visa will be sorted within the next couple of weeks, so we've set about arranging the date for the wedding. And it's going to be in October!
I really have no idea what I need to get done before the big day. I already have a dress (£90 from a department store!) and a tiara but no shoes. I also have a church because, well, I'm getting married in the same church I belong to. The vicar was incredibly reassuring that we'd be able to get everything organised by October. We're not having a big wedding. But to be honest, I really don't know where to start!
I've looked at lots of wedding planner website, but they're really don't cater for the sort of wedding we're having. We're not having personalised stationery and chair covers and stuff like that. We're just having the essentials: a church and a party. The church I can deal with. Like I said, the vicar is a Godsend. He pretty much ran through everything we need to do and was really enthusiastic about it. But we have a lot of options we need to decide on, and a lot of them I'm going to have to get sorted before my fiance gets here.
At the moment I'm mainly panicking about:
The readings
The hymns
The invitation designs
Dresses for the bridesmaids
Who to invite
Where we'll have the reception
How much it's going to cost
...so, y'know, if anyone has any bright ideas about those, do let me know. o_0

Journey - PS3
Posted 13 years agoI really don't have sufficiently approving words to describe how wonderful Journey is. Watch this trailer and we'll talk.
http://www.youtube.com/embed/xWhS6tXtN7U
It is quite possibly the most beautiful gaming experience since Ico. I would try to explain it, but there's very little to explain. You play a mysterious traveller in a beautiful shimmering landscape of deserts, seas and mountains. The visuals are enough to make me love this game, but the co-operative play really tips it over the edge into the realm of groundbreaking classics.
You play co-operatively with one other person, someone you'll never meet, never know and never be able to speak to. You communicate in a sort of callsign beep which combines your personal sigil. There are no words, no hints or directions. And yet you learn to care deeply for and co-operate with the people you meet on the way. The final level, set on a mountain, is an exceptionally powerful example of this. If you're the person I finished the game with this afternoon, I can say unconditionally that I love you. We fought an insurmountable foe together and I was so happy to help you and see how you helped me. I drew you a little heart in the sand. I think you saw it. :)
But yes, play Journey for a masterclass in gameplay, wordless narrative and design.

Christmas Party
Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to put a little message out to say I really enjoyed the Christmas party! It was certainly an experience, and it was really great to see so many friends from here and the forum, including a few people I met for the first time in person - Taya and Jess! <3
Superspecial highlights included my private security detail headed by Zuki, Artax and Bezel (three dudes who totally look like They Know What's Going On in suits XD) and imbibing massive amounts of booze with Jackal and Fermi! :D
So, yes, thanks to everyone I met for making my Christmas party great fun!

Christmas Meme (already?!)
Posted 14 years agoStolen from Bloovee because I think it's a really sweet idea. I just hope I can find some I can grant for other people!
STEP ONE
# Make a post to your journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream pure-bred Basset Hound for free - do it.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Christmas Wishlist
1. To have my fiance here in England, or at least have his visa application put in/granted. Or some help/advice on achieving this.
2. To have enough money spare to give more to charity (Oxfam/Red Cross).
3. For more people to do their Christmas shopping in charity shops/charity catalogues. This doesn't mean you have to buy second hand stuff - plenty of charity shops have brand new items too!
4. Some panda-related clothing to wear to meets (no where seems to have stuff with pandas on in fat girl sizes T_T).
5. To have a secure job, preferably in IT or teaching.
6. Variety of pink wool to make more of my random stripey pink blanket.
7. A nice picture of my non-fursona OC Kazhul (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1545450/)
8. Prayers for the health and happiness of everyone in our world.
9. My Little Ponies (in any shape or form!)
10. Peace and relaxation.
I've tried to make as many things on my list stuff you can't buy/spend money on, because I think that's in the spirit of this. Go forth and make your own lists! I hope I can make you happy too!

Hey, Watchers...
Posted 14 years agoI just wanted to say thanks to everyone who feels my account is worth watching. It really cheers me up to think of that.
I hope I can reward your kindness with art that makes you happy too. :)

I'm raising money for charity!
Posted 14 years agoThis Saturday I'm going to be taking part in my local hospice's moonlight 5K walk. Mainly I'll be trundling round in the middle of the night dressed in a silly costume in an attempt to raise money for very poorly people.
The serious bit:
The charity I'm raising money for is St. Barnaba's Hospice (http://stbarnabashospice.co.uk/). They're a palliative care provider here in Lincolnshire. Basically they provide a little bit of help and comfort for people at the end of their lives. They're not always old people, it's anyone with a terminal illness. And since death's something none of us can really do anything to avoid, I reckon it's pretty important that we do everything we can to make life better for people facing the end of their lives.
If you'd like to help me raise some money, I've set up a Just Giving page (http://www.justgiving.com/pandaririn). Anything you can spare is gratefully accepted, and as an added incentive, anyone who donates more than £5 will receive a thank you fursona doodle from me!
