IMPORTANT REMINDER- PLEASE READ
Posted 12 years agoThis is just to remind you that ANYONE can host an event! My class schedule and work load this semester is going to be really intense so I most likely won't be able to host many things. (I'm looking at only hosting monthly bowling and halloween) So if you want to do more events, please try to host some. I swear it isn't difficult! If you need help, please just ask! ^.^ this group is for you guys, and I hate letting you down like this, but school comes first.
AND I need a co-mod! If you haven't noticed, this group hasn't been updated as regularly. Once again, classes have been intense already x.x I'm looking for someone with a good head for dates and who can keep checking the group on a regular basis. If you think you have what it takes, please note my personal account (dragonmelde). You MUST be responsible and on top of things! :D
That's all; hope you all are fantastic!
Your stressing mod,
Melde

Changes Incoming! (looking for new Mod)
Posted 12 years agoSo if any of you know me, you might know that I am graduating in December and looking to move away. This means I won't be a Panhandle Fur for much longer (though you will always be in my heart furry locals <3). I will be looking to pass the torch on to another local who will hopefully keep the group running as smoothly as it has been. For the time being though, I am looking to get another mod for the group to help take some of the load off of me (as much fun as it has been to do all the work on my own XD). So if you are interested in being a mod for the group, please note me! If you've never been to a Panhandle Furs event and want to be a mod, I suggest you start coming to events!
And a reminder:
ANYONE CAN HOST AN EVENT! Sheesh furries XD I know I host them all, but don't let that stop you.. I'm only hosting them because no one else seems interested and I like hanging out!

Furry Nature Adventure- Saturday!
Posted 12 years agoFeeling blue because you can't go to Anthrocon this weekend? Join the rest of your local furs for a nature hike! Saturday morningish at UWF (RSVP to dragonmelde for the time and location!).
Like I mentioned before, it's not super strenuous, but there are some ups and downs and it's mostly a sandy path so go at your own risk. It's about a two hour trek in mostly shade (but still hot, so bring water!)

Anyone interested in nature hikes?
Posted 12 years agoSihu and I went out on the UWF trails today and had a grand adventure. Would anyone be interested in doing something like this as an event? It wouldn't be super strenuous, but there are ups and downs (which at one point is pretty climb-y), as well as roots and the occasional log on the path that you'd have to step over. The trail we followed took us about 2 hours (very rough estimate). Mostly shaded but still hot. Yellow flies are bad right now, but bug repellent does wonders! If it were an event, we could do a picnic lunch afterwards :D
Any interest?
Upcoming Events and Recap
Posted 12 years agoBeer and Pizza Recap:
If you didn't join us, you missed out on lots of fun! It ended up being a fairly good sized group for my little apartment (everyone had a seat at least!). There were a few new people (hope we didn't scare you all away!) and some old faces (welcome back!) to share in the pizza fun! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did; think it's an event worth hosting again?
Upcoming Events
Unfortunately due to unforeseen financial issues, I'm going to have to cancel the mini golf event. I hope I don't disappoint too many people... I definitely want to have a mini golf event, it's just not meant to be right now x.x
BUT! Make sure you attend the upcoming events! They will NOT be cancelled (they're super cheap or free ^.^).
June 22:
Lord of the Rings Marathon in Pensacola (contact dragonmelde for RSVP and more info)
June 29:
Bowling in Pace (contact dragonmelde for RSVP and more info)
--*Note* Fursuits encouraged!
EDIT:
I've been asked to pass along info about an unofficial weekly furry gathering at Cici's. ^.^ I haven't attended yet, but hope to soon to see what it's all about.
Cici's on 9th in Pensacola; Fridays at 6pm
--*Note* This is NOT an official Panhandle Furs event! There is no host and no RSVP. But! With that in mind, please be respectful of the business and the positive image furries are starting to get in our area. (Yes, I went "Mom" on you x.x)

Changes Incoming!
Posted 12 years agoSome of you might have noticed that every June event is being hosted by one person, Melde (me! XD). You might be asking yourself, what’s going on? What about Wildmark? It is with mixed emotions that I tell you he has moved out of the region. We are all sad to see him go, but congratulate him on his new job and wish him all the best! Read his journal here
Never fear though, events will still happen, hopefully continuing the weekly schedule! Remember, these events can only occur if people attend, so make sure you RSVP early otherwise events could be canceled due to lack of interest. Also be aware that some events have an attendance cap based on location (my apartment can only hold so many x.x), another reason to RSVP early to reserve a spot!
*And remember that anyone can host an event, just read the event guidelines and note the group so I can put it on the calender!*
I’m also thinking of doing a weekly journal digest to remind everyone of that week’s upcoming event and to do a mini review of the last one ^.^ This will not change the monthly event journal or submission though!
If you have any suggestions for events, group improvements, or whatever, let me know!

Monthly Art Feature/Calender
Posted 12 years agoIn an effort to showcase our local artists, and make the calender more visible, we have come up with the idea of putting the calender into a submission too! But every calender needs art, right? So local artists! We want you to design the monthly art!
Here's how it works:
1. Be a local artist! Aren't on the local artist list yet? No sweat, send us a note with the info here and we'll get you added.
2. Send us a note with the month you would like to do! This is first come first served for the months, but please note that we need art now for the months that are around the corner, not for those that are far away! XD
3. We'll let you know if your month is available, and tell you to get to work!
4. Finish your month art at least a week before your month so we can get it uploaded on time. Note us again when you have completed the art.
What should be on the art?
1. Must be themed for the month. (ie: Valentine's Day for February)
2. Keep it clean. We aren't a bunch of hoodlums here XD.
3. It can include your characters, made-up characters, or characters from the other group members if you get their permission to use their characters.
4. Must abide by all of FA's rules.
5. Size? Doesn't really matter as long as it fits in a submission and fits a theme for the month.
What we'll do:
1. Upload your art with the calender in a submission at the appropriate time for the month.
2. Include a link to your gallery/the original submission if you uploaded it to your gallery already.
3. Love you forever!

Official Event Guidelines/Rules
Posted 14 years agoIn order to try to bring a more mature level of interaction with the non-furry public, we have decided upon a few guidelines. By adding our group and attending events, you agree that you are a member of the group and will abide by these rules and guidelines:
The following general rule supersedes all others listed below and may be invoked at any time:
Any action or behavior that causes significant interference with meetup operations, excessive discomfort to other attendees, or adversely affects Panhandle Furs' relationship with its members, its event location, or the public is strictly forbidden and may result in permanent banning from events. You are responsible for maintaining mature conduct at events, so be mindful of how you are acting.
Introduction
The primary purpose of Panhandle Furs is for our members to have fun. To ensure that the greatest number of people achieve this objective we have established certain rules of conduct. By them we seek only to ensure that the behavior of any one small group does not disturb the membership as a whole, nor does it detract from the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of the events. Panhandle Furs welcomes all parties with an interest in anthropomorphic animals; however, the group's owners reserve the right to deny or revoke the membership of any individual at any time for any reason. Panhandle Furs also reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior or posted notice and reserves the sole right of interpretation. In any dispute, the general rule above will apply. If you have any questions, please contact the page owners for assistance.
Anyone who chooses to be a part of the Panhandle Furs group agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Panhandle Furs and its owners from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual's activities during Panhandle Furs events, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of Panhandle Furs.
As a condition of membership in the group, all Panhandle Furs members are required to abide by these standards of conduct for the entire duration of their time in the group, especially at during events or meetups, whether these are at a public venue or in a private home.
General Rating of the Events/Meetups
All events are considered to be "PG" at all times, with the exception of events or exhibits that are specifically noted to be inappropriate for minors (ie bars or R movie events). However, please do not bring children (under the age of 13 for these purposes), younger siblings, etc to any events without asking permission from the event’s host first. All minors under 13 require parent supervision at all times. Anyone providing false documentation of identity or age will be denied membership and reported to the police.
If an event is taking place at a restaurant/bowling alley/etc, anyone who wishes to attend must purchase food/bowl etc. (not just water). Also please help contribute to the tip, as we are a large and overwhelming group so we need to be courteous to our servers!
Group members, when in public areas, may not wear clothing which is overly revealing or inappropriate to the atmosphere of the event, such as fetish-related garb and accoutrements. Collars are acceptable and are worn by numerous attendees as a fashion statement, but leashes attached thereunto are not. Please respect the event location’s rules on proper attire and dress accordingly, whether is be a bowling alley, public beach, or private residence. If you have concerns about proper attire, please ask the event host.
Full-body fursuits are excluded from the "shirts/pants/footwear" rule, provided that the costume is not unacceptably revealing. Certain accoutrements such as leashes may be included as part of a costume at the discretion of the event host and business/homeowner. We all know about the negative connotation of fursuiters (thank you CSI), so lets try to change that opinion and act accordingly. Fursuits that are mature or adult in nature are not permitted at meetups under any circumstances. “Scary” fursuits may be permitted at some events, so please ask the event host if you are not sure.
Public displays of affection beyond what is appropriate for polite company are frowned upon. You will be asked to express your devotion to your significant other either in less conspicuous ways, or in private.
Public Decorum
Please be respectful of the event location/venue, and act accordingly. Treat the venue like or better than you would your own home. If someone is causing trouble at an event, the event host is responsible for taking appropriate action. If a person continues to cause problems on three separate occasions, they will be "banned" from local events. Banned List
Panhandle Furs events and meetups are open to the group members and friends, provided they RSVP with the event hosts prior to the event. If a person does not RSVP, they may not be able to join the group during the event and could be asked to leave.
At any Panhandle Furs event/meetup, everyone must abide by all local, state and federal laws. This means that things like underage drinking/underage smoking/drugs are unacceptable! We have many members of the group under 21 and even under 18, so please keep that in mind. Underage drinking, among other illegal things, can get not only the people involved in serious trouble, it could also potentially harm the business/homeowner and cause our group to become banned from that location. In short, DON’T DO IT.
Other Event Matters
Any act of vandalism, deliberate or excessive damage to event location/venue property, or interference with any event venue worker in the performance of his or her duties will result in a permanent ban from events and the group, criminal prosecution, fines, or any combination thereof.
Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, battery, deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwelcome physical attentions, will not be tolerated. If people tell you "no" or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. If you continue to attempt to have contact with those people, you may be removed from the premises.
Panhandle Furs is not responsible for solving any interpersonal problems that may arise between individual members. In general, we can take no action to prevent a person from attending the events unless that person has made a specific and credible threat toward the event itself or if another individual can produce a legal restraining order. This group is a DRAMA FREE ZONE.
The owners of "Panhandle Furs" hold no responsibility of the nature of the events on the calendar, nor are the owners responsible for the actions of the people of these events.
Panhandle Furs reserves the right to decide to not post to the calender/be associated with any event for any reason, including things that would conflict with the rules posted above or would harm the good reputation of Panhandle Furs' and that of the general furry fandom.
Please be reminded that these rules involve, of course, "worst-case" scenarios and are put into place to ensure the safety and comfort of our members. They are also not all-inclusive; in all cases, the singular rule that supersedes all others is, "Any action or behavior that causes significant interference with meetup operations, excessive discomfort to other attendees, or adversely affects Panhandle Furs' relationship with its members, its event location, or the public is strictly forbidden and may result in permanent banning from events. You are responsible for maintaining mature conduct at events, so be mindful of how you are acting." We anticipate no difficulties, as our members as a whole are rational and responsible adults. Have fun - just please remember to be courteous of those around you while doing so!
-If you want to submit an event to be put in the event calendar journal, please send a note titled "Event" with the following:
1. Submit your event by the midnight before the new calender goes up (the beginning of each month)
3a. Name of the event, Date, Time, Location, Price range, Host's contact (i.e. email, FA, etc.)
3b. If you want your event to require an RSVP, let us know and we will simply include the date and event title with your contact information so attendees must contact you for the rest of the details.
4. Age Appropriateness (Everyone, 16+, 18+, 21+)
5. Level of Furrydom (Fursuits allowed, tails allowed, no furry paraphernalia)
