Interwebbing problems and other stuffs
Posted 14 years agoOur internet has really been a PITA ( Pain In The Arse ) lately hiccuping and disconnecting us every half hour or so ever since we got back from Rain Furrest. It took a while but we pinpointed it to our router, the poor thing is like 7 years old and working non-stop 24/7. So thanks to Desmond, for he bought us a new router and better router so we can at least have moar interwebs. >:3
Now I am done getting my routine back... and stressing over my internet connection the past few days; I'll be blunt about my projects.
I choose not to continue working on Out of Character not because I want to, but out of the passive aggressive grief the previous artists that were working are giving to
desmondfallout and myself. Anything I said or post, even if I was defending those same artists, I am being accuse of flaming them in retaliation. Plus they are holding his latest commissions from them as ransom. As the result of this... I lost any drive to work on this project.
So Desmond is hiring a different artist and rebooting the whole comic from scratch. All because those previous artists really screwed up the original plot so bad that we have to re-do everything. Revamp all characters, revamp the plot, everything. So I will help Desmond out on the comic but I will not be the main artist... unless I can get more free time to work on it. Besides I was doing it for free, so it really felt unappreciated that someone was looking forward to a free TF. Sorry, it's not happening. So I might as well post all I've done in the past up till now since it was almost all on OoC, and now null and void.
Now I haven't forgotten other commissions I got from Rain Furrest, my apologize if I am seeming slow to respond on the interweb... it's not my main choice of communication. So, I will change that. Thankfully I got permission to use these for Flinter's Xformation comic book, but that's even more incentive.
Time to work,

Return from Rainfurrest
Posted 14 years agoWhile I am glad to be home, I honestly feel that sharing a table with
flinters was probably the best experience I had at any convention I have attended to date. Besides it is nice to relax once you get home.
I didn't get as much art done as I have had in the past, mainly I opted out on this year's art jams, but also I wanted to get as much rest as I can when I am sharing a room with 6 people. I haven't had to do that in years but still very different when 2 of them are con staff, 1 of them was a strong fur suitor, and the rest of us kind mingled our own ways. So sleep was very hard press this con.
So while almost all of the dealers, including myself were not really ready to open up on Thursday, it was an interesting experience. Not a whole lot of people and we all really got 4 more extra hours to sell some stuff. I am not certain if those hours did help in the long run, but Friday improved as well as Saturday and Sunday. So over all I beat my last year sales, which is great and with my thanks to Flinters for helping me out.
mephis Came and visted up a few days before the con and stayed about a day and a half after the con. He really was a hoot to hang about with, even though after the con I kinda holed up in my room and slept as long as my body was letting me able to. Still, he got me interested in a card game called "Red Dragon Inn". Very fun to play with when you have a group going.
I definitely have to give a shout out of thanks to
f3nixwolf and
rocketfoxie for car pooling us all down to the convention... despite that we all were packed like sardines to and from the con. :P
Now to work on those extra commissions, some comics, and planning for the possibly of attending to FC this January.

Rainfurrest & More
Posted 14 years agoYep, I am attending Rainfurrest again this year as a dealer again. Panther Strike Industries is where I'll be at... as soon as they get the map I can see where I'll be seated.
Rule of thumb: never ever plan an event on the fly... furries get all con-fuzzled and can't decide what to do.
And now for something completely different... COMMUNICATION!!! Geez people... We've got a lot of pissed off artist due to the lack of communication... and sadly I am reading up that it's happening at multiple conventions.
Anywho, due to someone taking my last journal, and anything else I am posting, way out of context... still, I am refraining from posting anything that matter can be resolved. Which is still taking a long arse while... personally I don't care about what they think about me but when it's redirected to affecting others... yeah I have to watch what I say due to the sheer ignorance that some people have in reality.
On the lighter side of things:
I knew there were other furs about, locally... how many in a 10, 20, 30 mile radius? Hard to say. But when one comes up to you and talks more in the furry lingo, referring others to their furry names... Are you the freaking International Fuzz?! I swear Officer PawPad I didn't do it! I'll draw more arts... Just don't take me to the Pound!
Needless to say, it's cool to meet others, and surprising too... It really opens up one's eyes up to see that there are more in this clique then me, myself and I, and perhaps a few good friends. Personally I am more meet people face-to-face person, then over text... too many confusions via text messages.
Possibly after the Rainfurrset meme and the obligatory photos from Rainfurrest, this matter will be resolved and I can start posting more without unwanted repercussions.

Projects and procastination.
Posted 14 years agoHonestly I feel I can not post anything up here due to my focus on Out of Character, working 35-40 hour weeks, and getting burned out almost on a daily basis. What is really shameful is that I am catching myself procrastinating on any of my works due to some back-door drama, my energy being sapped from over worked, the feeling of being over-burdened, the frustration of the constant changing, and the desire to work on a different project to clear my mind from it. Thus I have a love hate relationship with video games. They help me escape from reality, but I don't get any of my arts done.
Anywho, I feel I must refocus my efforts back onto my arts, but on a different project for now. Perhaps I can post some stuff up in the meantime.

New Artist; New Page
Posted 14 years agoSo over the past few months I've been working on
desmondfallout web comic Out of Character. This is the reason why I am all hush-hush, and yes, I did advertise this in the past as Aakashi and Wraith doing this comic... Yet, the mantles has been past to me as the new artist. Well, today's my day to début both a new chapter and a new page. Now I do understand that this change might be a bit much for some, or the reasons why this is happening is still a mystery. Unfortunately, I am not the one to explain the details. Ask Desmond, but I doubt he too will explain.
Since I am working closely with Desmond, I'll do my best to keep a similar style going while keeping the flow of the story smooth. Perhaps I can start posting some of my concept works later on. Besides I am looking forward to working further on this comic.

Happy Single Awareness Day
Posted 14 years agoI so love calling Valentines Day that... not because it's true but I find it funny.
Well, I am certain I'll see a lot of disgruntle guys later on tonight buying flowers and chocolates for their pissed off spouses / significant others. Earnestly, a minimal of one hundred fifty guys come in between 5:00 pm - Midnight buying their last minute gifts cause their spouse / significant other was very upset with them for not remembering this day. In a way... I am glad I am still single... one less holiday for me to waste my money on some more gifts, in which I don't have the money to spend it on... Gotta love irony.
And don't forget the chocolate!

Auctioning prints and badge commission.
Posted 14 years agoI am testing out Furbuy. Aside MMO's I never have done a real auction, let alone sold one of my own personal stuff in an auction. Never hurts to try, eh?
Anywho, I aim to keep it simple for now I have a FemPrint Pack featuring mostly female Pokemon, a few vixens and a lone feline, and it's starting at $5.00. That's 15 prints starting at $0.33 each.
I also took a stab at a Badge Commission starting at only a dollar!
Crazy, I know. So check them out!

Kung Hei Fat Choi
Posted 14 years agoSo it's the year of the Rabbit, and one of my favorite animals. So here I was hoping I might have something done in time but either I forget that this New Year is coming up, or I am preoccupied with various other... 'Stuff'.
So since Christmas, one of my coworkers has been talking non-stop on how big this Chinese New Year is, especially back in Hong Kong where she hails from. I know I was taught some of these traditions when I was in grade school, but not to the extent that she was talking about. Apparently for those that celebrate this, this is far bigger then those whom celebrate Christmas, and it can last up to a week of celebrations. Gifts, feasts, and more... I still find it very intriguing to learn the cultures of other countries. Also apparently if you have your Birthday on a Chinese New Year, is a sign of extreme good luck, 'cause being rare and it generally can happen up to three times in a single lifetime.
Until Next Time,
Congratulations and be prosperous.

Hidden Pressure
Posted 15 years agoYou know what really sucks? Doing some cool arts and making several comic pages and knowing I cannot post them for public viewing. Personally it's more then an ego booster, but I learn from critiques. As people say... this is a new year, time for new habits and changes.
Now, while I am not in the liberty to discuss in details, I am guessing I shall not post anything until about March. Unless I do find spare time, then I might sneak in a peek or two of extra arts.
Speaking of changes, back in the end of October, my older sister gave birth to my nephew, Chase. He's such a doll... and I am such a sucker for younger kids. Now I've got three nieces and a nephew... and here I thought my family couldn't get any bigger with 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and a few in-laws. Needless to say, Christmas was very busy for me this year, and proven to be a struggle that I've shall continue to overcome.
Despite my desire to go, I could not attend Further Confusion, this year, and I am contemplating on attending next year's event. The reason for this year is simple: No money, I desire to work for said money, and I have a strong sense of loyalty and honor to not leave my work understaffed while I go on a trip. Plus I am strongly independent and I do not desire to leave myself in the hands of others to care for me unless I have the said money to cover my expenses... so, yes, I am also stubborn as well.
Until Next Time,
~Midnight Panther
P.S. Note to self: update this more often...

Back from Rainfurrest
Posted 15 years agoWow, I haven't felt exhausted like this in a long time. Even when I attended last year, and even attend some other anime cons, I didn't feel as exhausted as I did coming home this year from Rainfurrset. I feel it was partially I was over prepared and under prepared all at the same time. Plus hauling my art supply up and down the hill from the Hilton hotel to the Marriott hotel psychically drained me. Which it all weighed about over approx 150 lbs.
So how did I do? Well... I can fully assure myself that anime cons and furry cons are almost night and day. So far the anime cons I've attended to are mostly selling prints yet a few sketches and other trinkets. Where as furry cons are selling more badges and sketch / ink commissions. So, being my first time dealer I knew I wouldn't make much money, but my main plan for this year is more publicity.
I've learned a lot just about being a dealer instead of watching them, and I've learned why some dealers price the way they do. However I still maintain my philosophy of being honorable to my guests. Plus, I hate the feeling of owing people commissions or the feeling of turning people down.
So thank you for all whom stopped by and said hello to me at my table. And an extra thank you for all those whom bought some commissions from me.

Rainfurrest meme: 2010, and other news.
Posted 15 years agoI know I haven't updated in a while, I was mainly prepping for this con in the past prior months... if not then I was at a wedding... but that's then and there... And all the while trying to live my life the best I can though other work-related stress.

Rainfurrest Meme
-Where will you be?
If I am not sleeping, eating, or running to the bathroom, I'll most likely be at the dealers den Table #32 or in the art jam.
- Where are you staying?
The Hilton hotel next door
- Who will you be with?
Desmondfallout and anyone else next to me or passing by the dealer's table.
- Do you do free art?
As long as you provide me with a Franklin, a few Lincoln or a several Washingtons... No, I don't do "free" art anymore.
- Do you do trades?
My prints for your moneys... I'll just say this is very subjective.
- Do you do commissions?
Why yes, yes I do. I'll have a price list at my table.
- Do you have prints/CDs?
Yup, we'll have lots of prints. At least a good start anyhow.
- Do you do badges?
I can, and I will... for a price.
- Will you have art in the Art Show? General or Adult sections?
I am not thinking of doing the art show this year, perhaps in the future.
- What is your gender?
Male
- How old are you?
31
- Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
No, and Umm... not really, long distance relationships don't work out. New friends... Sure!
- Can I touch you?
It'll be semi-mandatory since I have to exchange my goods with your moneys. Otherwise... I like my personal space thank you very much.
- Can I touch your friends?
Am I a mind reader? Ask them not me...
- Can I talk about/do drugs in front of you?
Let me get a camcorder before they kick your sorry butt out of the con so I can post it on Youtube. In all other retrospect, I don't care what you do just as long as I can breathe though the pollution that people "smoke".
- Can I invite you out for food/fun/etc?
I am definitely all out for having fun and meeting new folks.
- Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
I don't drive, and I walk fast, if and when I leave the dealers table and you would like to come, I don't mind as just as long as you can keep up.
- Can I talk to you?
Again, this will be a mandatory for me. In fact I might be flagging people down and chatting up a storm because I am a dealer.
HOW TO SPOT A MIDNIGHT PANTHER
I am the guy with sandy blond hair, with glasses, most likely talking to passerby and / or drawing badges / commissions. I am actually a lot more talkative in reality then in the interweb.
The do's and don'ts!
Don't expect freebies, and don't expect me to be played as a fool... I've been around the block a few times. Do expect me to be more chatty while I am at my table, and do say hello, I promise I won't bite.
---
So, just in case people skimmed over the meme, yes I am a dealer at Rainfurrest this year. I've been working at my main job while setting this one up the past several months.
Am I excited?
Yes, even a little nervous.
Have I gotten newer arts done?
Yes and no... A lot of them are half inks or sketches. I haven't posted anything in a while because I wanted to get them colored for prints for this con, but that didn't work out as planned.
Will I be posting more works?
Yes, most likely after Rainfurrest.
Now my roommate,
desmondfallout has written up a new online comic, Out of Character, which is drawn and colored by
Aakashi. Right now it is on 16 pages but it debuted with 15 pages; pretty amazing for just starting out. It will be also updating once a week, so do check it out.

Livestreaming
Posted 15 years agoCuriosity got the best of me and I wanted to try out the Ustream / Livestream fad that's been going about the artist community. While I can't figure out how to get Ustream to publish live from my desktop, I am certainly glad that Livestream does provide a way to do it.
The other reason I am doing this is to show folks my works I plan onto sell but holding off on publishing on the internet so my work ends up literally free.
Now I plan, heh funny I can never keep a plan, to live stream on a daily basis. So, the hours I cannot give a definite, but I will be on longer when I am off from my regular day job.
Livestream
Real life is intervening too much so I cannot say when I'll do a live stream next.

Onto Coloring
Posted 15 years agoIt's been well over a month since I did a sketch a day, only recently I have starting to slack, mainly cause of hours increasing at work. So I will put my sketch-a-day on hiatus until I can color all the sketches I've done so far.
But first, I need to sketch up some other requests before I can color.
Also I need to put my focus back onto some of my projects, I still have a big pile of work to do and not enough time.
Until Next Time,

So what happened?
Posted 16 years agoYeah, yeah, yeah I go to the extremes. Do a lot of art one month and disappear for another. Quite Franky I have a hard time controlling my impulses and boredom. Besides the holiday months are harsh on me and my wallet. (( Still struggling to pay rent and my bills ))
Because of those last few months and the cons I went to, I am looking into putting a lot of effort into making my art a second job. Thus those whom have noticed may have been seeing I've been making a sketch a day and posting them. Little by little I will color them and turn them into prints. Perhaps I'll post them here... perhaps not. I am leaning towards the not section, while continuing those sketches, perhaps posting them in my regular gallery.
Also I've been meaning to ask about on color pencils and which ones are the better ones, aside those cheap wax ones you get at wally world. I know about markers, and I plan on going traditional for some of my works. Any advise will be helpful.
Also, those whom I said I'll make them arts at Rain Furrest... no I have not forgotten, I've been slacking off.
Until Next Time,
**Edit: Due to I moved all my pictures into my gallery instead of my scraps, slight changes were made.**

Rain Furrest Photos
Posted 16 years agoI finished editing the photos I took at the con yesterday so everyone can see them better. I just got tired and forgot to update my Journal about it.
Y'all can view the photos I took here. It took me over 3 hours to go though over 100 photos. Not to mention editing them on Photobucket as well.
I also had the urge to create a Live Journal which I am still working on an entry as I post this.
I am also debating on getting a Ustream account but defiantly going to get Open Canvas as soon as I can remind myself to download it.
Also, I will be moving all my art from
FAscience over to this account as a part of my promise to keep my works centralized. I won't be deleting them on there cause I, too, get frustrated once I see people delete a picture I favorited and I can't find it again.
Until next time take care.

Back from Rainfurrest.
Posted 16 years agoYay! I am back and very tired... but in a good way.
Anyways I have a lot... and I mean a ton of stuff to upload here. After all I did promise some folks I would centralize my works onto this account.
I also wanna go though and give a very detailed report on how I felt this con went and what I found out what to do and not to do. So I might do that on Live Journal later on.
Anywho, I need to do a few errands and see where things go after that.
Until then take care.

How to Express hate in a good way?
Posted 16 years agoHow I hate summer time; it's too freaking hot to do anything. Sure being in the Pacific Northwest has its benefits but dang... they don't provide proper AC during these times.
... Yeah, I know I was away for a while... I got back into City of Heroes... I love that damn game a lot. I won't lie and I was using it as an escapism mechanism. Plus I didn't realize there are those on there that really enjoyed my company. Plus making up your own missions is too fun and time consuming.
But that's not my point...
DesmondFallout decided to work on a project, a joint project no less, and I am really admiring his dedication to it too. Now, I feel like a jerk for refusing to work in this unbearable heat... then again I have the hottest room in the whole damn apartment. He asked for a few concept art... did some but apparently he wanted more. Ok no biggie. I really feel lazy in this freaking heat. So today he provided me with a short blip of his work for the project... while it was unfinished I want to curse him for pushing my desire to draw to full swing. >.<;
On another side note, he and I are taking interest to go to Rain Furrest in Seattle this September. Tentative, but still plausible.

Just like a kid...
Posted 16 years agoLocked up inside their favorite candy store with all the goodies they can eat without the reprimands.
It's the euphoric feel I have now after seeing five kick ass commissions from two great artists:
barrin84 &
StrawberryxVodka. I highly recommend getting a commission from both of them.
Anywho, here's the five commissions:
Rave Picture
Bikini Picture
Pin-up #1
Pin-up#2
Chibi
Gawd I love them all.
The results of these were somewhat unexpected... estimated 30 people came and visit this account after they posted the four recent commissions. Not that I care... well I do since I feel I have Jack-Sh#& up, but that's not the point. It baffled me people actually look at the artist's comments. I pretty much have given up hope that people will actually read what we artists have to say about our own works! And... Bam! This happened... Hello... Wake-up call; It's 3:00 AM... Reality Check here to kick your arse! Yeah... I need coffee...
The comments... yes I read them all since it was involving my own character, Laurin, the majority I found to be humorous, even if they were subtle referring to p0rn and rule 34. Kinda makes me wish I role play again on some of these comments... but that's a thought for tomorrow.
What caught my attention was a few reoccurring comments referring to "Laurin meeting Zeo", Barrin's gigolo rabbit. Character wise, it's hard to tell with Laurin since she's a flirt. She's not a tramp, and she makes sure she isn't that easy, and yet she'll tease the living hell out of most other characters to the point they will go nuts. Since I know Barrin is a busy man, I feel I should "set the meeting up" myself. If he wants to draw Laurin in his "Zeo warm-up" sets I would feel honored but also bummed 'cause it wouldn't really be the real Laurin.
There is a few other comments I would like to reply to, but I just got this insane idea instead, so I need some time before I will reply to them.
On other News:
City of Heroes / City of Villains: An older MMO I use to love to play and still wish I do... is reactivating all inactive accounts this Sunday. I know I should be drawing more but damn I am tempted to go back there to play for old times sakes. If I do go back I might be back in Virtue server where I had 2 level 50 heroes and 2 level 50 villains.
Until next time; take care.

Growing in experience, time, and art management I feel I need to adjust accordingly. I gotta give my thanks to Cait over at

- Payment -
- Payment can be made at any time up until the halfway point. In most cases, this is considered when I will show you sketch previews that meet your approval to continue with inking and coloring.
- If payment is not given when asked, your commission will be suspended in favor of the next (if any) in line. It will not be worked on again until payment if received in full.
- Since sketched busts and portraits do not have a halfway point, payment must be made upon completion or else no art will be shown.
____
- Process -
- Please be direct, specific and courteous about what you want. Beating around the bush will just irritate me and hinder the progress.
- References for specific characters are definitely a plus. Otherwise, give as much detail as possible about character descriptions. Very vague information will only slow me down as I try to catch you for specific questions.
- Cait over at
FAScience will write the scripts for your sequence or comic as part of the planning process, or you may submit your own outlines for me to follow. Scripts can be forwarded to you for approval upon request.
- I will contact you when your commission is in production. Previews can also be sent in the form of small resolution sketches for approval.
- Notes -
- I'll admit I am new to the field, but it won't stop me from trying. :3
- Transformation will probably be my main focus. However, I would like to emphasis that I will take commissions on just about anything. Feel free to ask away! After all, I do have some limitations.
- I understand my prices are dirt cheap compared to most artists. This is something we do more for fun than necessity, and are not intentionally trying to undercut.
- Like all things, prices may change at any time. But this will not be applied to commissions already agreed on when they do.
Support your favorite artists; give them a hug!
Thank you very much.
