Back to the grind
General | Posted 17 years agoWent back to work today after a six-week recovery period, and it seemed to go okay - was nice to get back in the office for a change, and my colleges seemed pleased to see me :)
Physio in the morning then it's off to work again - not the most ideal way to spend your birthday, but what're ya gonna do :)

Knee Update - w00t!
General | Posted 17 years agoJust got back in from the surgeon's visit, apparently my knee was the worst he'd worked on (with regards to the injury - not it's physical appearence, though I ain't saying I got sexy knees though XD) but he also thinks it's healing very well indeed - it's a lot more secure and even though the muscles still feel a little cricky there's no indication that it'll dislocate again ^^
Anyways, the brace is off, which feels rather good actually, I've been cleared to drive and go back to work, so on Monday it's back to the grind and I've got a return appointment in another 6 weeks :)
This is a huuuuuuuuuuuuge weight off my mind now, now I can look forward to getting a gym/swim routine going again, and hopefully I'll be nearer full strength by the time RBW rolls around - though I won't be setting foot onto a rugby pitch again this season :)

Progress ^^
General | Posted 17 years agoI'm now able to get a full rotation on the exercise bike, and I had a walk round Chester with
felixandrews today, knee was a bit sore afterwards but nothing unusual - although I did hear a couple of pops in the knee area over the weekend as the muscles got used to moving again. I even went out and bought a nice new mountain bike for when the recovery continues, there's some nice trails round this area that I intend to explore for the first time in years :)
Loose ends tied up at last, phoning O2 tomorrow about my phone upgrade - going for the SE C902, but there's none in stock at the moment - folders and stuff for college have been purchased and I'm also nervous about my car's MOT tomorrow - praying it's routine and there's nothing major that needs to be replaced :-S
And to top it off, I managed to get in and out of the bath for the first time in six weeks (I've had showers in between then, so no stinky kitty here ;p)
Art's going pretty well too, the smaller canvas picture project seems to be going alright, many thanks for the comments ^^

Knee update
General | Posted 17 years agoWent for more physio today, and it seems the current process is going well - I'm now able to bend my knee to 40 degrees, and have been given some additional exercises that focus on the hamstrings and add a couple of degrees each day :)
Gonna try and get my ass in gear and get some art done soon :3

Good question...

How is it that you discovered my work, and what made you watch/like/fave it? I've always wondered and appreciated it but never asked.

Post-op blog (Day 15)
General | Posted 17 years agoStarting the physio tomorrow, really hoping I can flex it enough to get a more comfortable sleeping position. I'm a tall guy and am used to sleeping on my side or my front, so being on yer back for two weeks has been rather uncomfortable :-/
Oh well, hopefully after tomorrow things'll get slightly better *crosses paws* Art to come soon as well :)

Post-op blog (Day 10)
General | Posted 17 years agoHad the staples taken out this afternoon, tingled a bit but wasn't too bad :) Starting the physio on Tuesday, when it'll hopefully be able to bend to a 90 degree angle *crosses paws*
Looking at getting some arting done over the weekend, though won't be able to scan anything until I'm able to sit back at my own desk. Oh well, at least the lappy I've leant will run Spore - which I'm enjoying ^^
Peace out!

Post-op blog (Part 1)
General | Posted 17 years agoHi all, i'm home from the hospital, on crutches and with staples in my knee (which feels tight but not too painful) Oh and I have to keep my leg straight in a brace for 2 weeks before going to 90º *sighs* it's gonna be tough but I know I can get through this...
I'm resting nicely and shall be making time for art very soon, commission slots for conbadges are now OPEN ^^
A very tired Pankitty

Off for a bit
General | Posted 17 years agoHeading to the hospital for my knee surgery in a few short hours, see you in a couple of days :)
The time draws near...
General | Posted 17 years agoI'm gonna be taking a short break from the internet to -try- and relax with my family this weekend, I'm in work on Monday and then go under the knife on Tuesday morning. I'm a lot calmer about it now but it's the waiting game that's making me nervous at this time >.<
I'd like to thank everyone for their good luck messages *hugs all round*
See you next week

Pre-op update
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be :) They took a urine sample but no blood and the registrar basically went over what they were going to do, where the scars would be and how long the rehab would take.
Basically on the 2nd of September I will having ligament reconstruction surgery and an arthroscopic cleanup of my knee, I'm looking realistically at 6 to 12 weeks before I can think about getting back in the gym, and at least 9 months before I can think about getting back to rugby training.
That's part of the apprehension lifted from myself now, just got to think about relaxing for the procedure itself, but I know it'll be better in the long run. A big thank you to all who've wished me luck recently, I know I can get through this :)

Pre-op jitters
General | Posted 17 years agoHeading to the hospital for my pre-op on Tuesday morning, work tomorrow before stopping at a friend's house, back Tuesday afternoon *nibbles claws* :)
Dammit dammit dammit!
General | Posted 17 years agoAfter a wonderful day traipsing round Chester with Felix, viewing a host of art projects that had been set up for the weekend, I was doing some ironing before and my knee went again - causing me to fall backwards and onto the floor in a heap again ><
I'm in a bit of discomfort, and am counting down the days til the surgery date, I really want this over and done with so I won't have to worry about this happening again *whimpers, a tear running down his cheek from the pain*

ConFuzzled bound :3
General | Posted 17 years agoSeeing as I can't go to Eurofurence because of my surgery, I'm trying something a little closer to home - so I'll be at ConFuzzled in Manchester, UK next weekend - I'll be offering badge and sketch commissions - and might very well put something in the art show too :3
Looking at attending Anthrocon next year - hell yeah!!!
To all those going in a week or so I hope you have an awesome time ^^

Eurofurence plans up in smoke >.<
General | Posted 17 years agoSo I made a quick phonecall to the hospital regarding my knee surgery to basically ask for an update and whether there was any confirmed date for surgery, and it looks like they'll be operating on the 2nd of September (although they can't get the letter to me til the end of July for some reason *buh?*)
But yes, this has pretty much confirmed that I probably won't be able to make Eurofurence after all, I had the feeling it might clash with plans - but there'll be other chances to go in future :)
Still gutted about it though, but at least now it'll free up some holiday...*sighs* ;_;

Update?
General | Posted 17 years agoPosted a couple more pieces, not that anyone views 'em anyway :-/
Meh, been artistically unmotivated and just not myself lately...*curls up*

Sexy?
General | Posted 17 years agoFound this question on a forum while doing research before and thought it'd make a TMI filler ;)
-What do you find sexy and what makes you feel sexy about yourself?
For me it'd be glasses on gals, being stroked on the back of my neck *shiverpurrs* and those playful little moments that couples share everyday - and of course the thought of making someone feel special everyday :)
*happysighs* Oh to have that again...oh well, one day ^^
As for myself, well maybe nice a smart suit and a spiked hairdo - though I do like the idea of looking sexy in an open shirt (maybe if I lost a few pounds and toned up though :D)
So peeps, what's yours? :)

Music breeds creation?
General | Posted 17 years agoOne for the artists (and writers)
I find music helps motivate me when I take time out to do some arting - my musical taste is pretty eclectic but I tend to put on something peaceful to help me concentration (though there's nowt like some dance music also ;P)
So then, what background music helps your concentration when arting/writing?
