Tentative public [sketch] commissions
General | Posted a year agoI've mentioned meaning to offer commissions publicly I think, a few times before now. I'm not a stranger to doing paid work, but it's largely something I've done in small discord channels and with friends, and setting up something that could work outside that has generally been a backburner thing for me (reason: sleepy).
Right now I think I'm in a position where I think I can finally offer this stuff here comfortably, with pencil/ink sketches to start, and then maybe more if I feel like it. My commission form is HERE.
I'm gonna be using Artistree for this - one of my main reasons that I've held off on selling comms public is because I have to do a lot of non-artist things that to be honest, I'd rather not do - like write invoices, or make price sheets, or communicate with clients through my discord account (which should be for friends!) and artistree handles all that on their end and organises for me.
I've only been using it for a little bit (which is another reason I'm only doing sketches at the moment!) but it seems to all work pretty good for me so far. I should note that unlike invoicing systems it takes processing fees from the client rather than the seller, so if you're buying it's slightly more expensive than the listed price (from what I've asked previous clients $35USD works out to about a little under 40 on their end). The upside to that though is I get 100% of the listed price. It also does do tips, but these are after the work is actually finished.
If you're reading this you probably have a good idea of what kinda stuff I draw, and I've even posted a bunch of sketches in my gallery recently that'll give you a good idea of what you'll get. I should also note that that this isn't just strictly for robot stuff! I'm completely fine with regular pinups, too. Either way - it doesn't require payment until I've accepted your idea, so you're free suggest things that I might not have done before!
If I find that this system works for me down the line, I'll probably open up that full colour option at some point. I might also put an ad (price sheet? idk what else to call) it in my gallery at some point, though it's not something I'd like to do that often - my goal for this is a lot more casual than I think I'd need that for I think.
One other thing - if you have any questions about this I haven't covered, feel free to ask in the comments or send me a note or w/e, and I'll do my best to find out.

I forgot where "create journal" was
General | Posted 2 years agoOh hey! Just wanted to post a quick update because I've been meaning to for a bit.
I've mostly been doing smaller stuff to avoid burnout, I closed my patreon a while ago (I didn't want to give my id lmao) which means I take my time a lot more and that's been really good for me. It does however mean I've been super lax at finishing stuff up and posting them here, though.
I have at this point about 15 or so pencil sketches, 1 finished piece, and a bunch of assorted wips in various levels of completion. Plan is to clean up the sketches and post them here, if they end up being made into finished pieces, those'll go here and the sketch'll get put into scraps or something, I don't know yet. I've still been doing some commissions privately, but those have also been pencils-only, so those get priority - I do keep meaning to work out some stuff for public comms at some point as well but i keep pushing that back for like, lazy reasons.

Backlog
General | Posted 5 years agoI forgot to post stuff for like a month and now I have a backlog of about...6 pieces, not including variants.
Gonna get working on clearing that in the next few days, finally!

Journal time! Journal time!
General | Posted 5 years agoOh man I haven't done one of these in nearly a year.
I haven't really had much to report on, just been plugging away at my own projects as well as commissions I've been taking on the various discord servers. In fact I've been getting more than enough business this way that I haven't felt the need to open for work publicly. Of course, if this changes I'll make sure to announce it.
The way I tend to draw has built up a rather large pile of WIPs, which I do plan to all finish up, but in the meantime I have been considering posting more linework and/or flat work as well.
Also - refsheets, I'm currently doing another one, this time for Eliza - it was going to happen but I'm mostly doing it now because I actually forgot how to draw her head properly (I haven't drawn her in...more than a year? Wow), and there's some things with her design that I'd like to update.
Finally I want to do a couple write-y bits, I have a small story that I've been working on (some of you might have already read the work in progress!), and I'd also like to write a bio to go a long with Cath's refsheet; another thing I've been considering is maybe a sorta FAQ type thing that I can put on my FA page, sorta a "why the heck do you like robots" thing, that could be fun.
Anyway, I think that's it? Everything else is pretty much normal for me, even with quarantine, since I mostly worked from home anyway. I could use a burger though.

who has time to come up with snappy journal titles, not me
General | Posted 6 years agoSo, there was a little bit of a lull in posts for a couple months, huh. Long and the short of it was that I was concentrating on a couple of commissions, both of which are done now and you can see in the gallery. I basically decided that I was gonna finish 'em before posting anything else.
A consequence on that is that I now have a shitload of WIPs, mostly done to warm up - mmmmostly robots in bikinis, I've been feeling summery and they make for good sketchpad fodder. We'll see if I finish them on time to be seasonally relevant (I've also floated a few around as YCHs privately, we'll see), but hey - robots don't get cold.
Also been doing a fair amount of anatomical and robo-anatomical studying, mostly cause I'd like to draw super detailed internals and all that for....reasons.

Couple quick things
General | Posted 6 years agoSo a couple new things to report
First thing is that I've added a couple categories to my gallery, specifically separating my anthro and non-anthro stuff. It's a little thing but useful if you're browsing and prefer one or the other. If I ever post any non-robot stuff that'll also be separated too into its own category. Organisation is fun.
Lastly, I've set up a small patreon account. I wasn't really planning to, but I considered it as an option maybe for the future, and with the service moving to a tiered system in May it basically forced my hand into setting one up so I can get grandfathered in on the current, less expensive system (for now at least).
I'm not planning on doing anything expansive with it, I'll be posting a couple pieces in high-res every month (older stuff at first til I clear a backlog) - I don't have plans to do anything exclusive for it or anything (I have tossed around doing some extra flavour writing for images maybe long term but not for now at least).
I'm just gonna be using it as a tip jar for now, a little bit of extra change to buy burgers and pornography with.
Anyway, more stuff coming this month/maybe early May.

how the heck is it almost february
General | Posted 7 years agoHoo boy, ever come out of the winter holidays with a kinda groggy lazyness?
I've spent most of January being blissfully unproductive, but I've been shaking of the light rust and getting used to gettin' stuff done again. Things took a little longer because of the way I tend to work (I do multiple pieces in parallel so I don't get stuck) but I'm readying up to post Content at my regular (ish) pace again.
Also, it's the arbitrary point of the year where we all make big sweeping, overambitious plans; I don't really have any like that but I would like to slowly get better at backgrounds so I can start adding them to my artwork, and I'd also like to do more pieces with multiple bots. I have a number of image concepts and ideas that I'd like to do as well, so that's something to look forward too.
Also also, I'd like to give commissions a shot at a later point, probably in a limited fashion at first - don't want to overextend of course. I'm technically ready to go on that front right now, but I'm gonna hold off on posting deets publicly til I've triple-checked everything. I may also try offering a few test jobs privately on stuff like discord for now, see if I can get my toes wet before actually diving into the deep end.

Back!
General | Posted 7 years agoSo huh that was a longer break than expected, sorry bout that! I work on multiple pieces in parallel so it takes a little longer to finish individual artworks. The upside is that I'm probably gonna have a few more things up over the next week.
Also gonna be doing a little series of themed images on "blank" looking robots, since I love the face they make and want to practice it more. Expect lots of deactivated, frozen or crashed bots and more in the months to come, both androids and anthroids.
Also, cause I like drawing both types of 'bot, I'm gonna have some art featuring both kinds at once, get some variety out there and all that.

Quick heads up
General | Posted 7 years agoGonna be a little inactive this month 'cause it's busy. Work stuff an' all that.
I might still have time to draw and post stuff here, but you probably won't see me massacre my WIPs folder like last month. Maybe.
Don't worry though, come November, I have plans. More Robot gals? Of course. Art variants? Yup. More OCs? Yeah. Comics? maybe, we'll see. Commissions? Possibly.
