No more kittens
Posted 15 years agoThe last one (who I have named Haven) died yesterday, a few hours after I had buried Wicket and Ash. One dead kitten a day; what a way to start the week! It was the strangest thing, the day before their deaths they were perfectly healthy. And then the following day, they started having trouble breathing and would eventually die. They would gasp and twitch and squeal, like they were unable to get oxygen. The vet told me that it was Fading Kitten Syndrome.
Still pretty upset about it, but at least they died warm and with full bellies, instead of under a pile of branches and uprooted plants. :[

Posted 15 years agoI lost the large brown male tonight. All of a sudden today he just rejected the bottle every time I tried to feed him, so I had to force him to drink with an eyedropper. And then tonight, when I opened the box to feed them again, he was laying there with his mouth open and was cold (even though he was on the heating pad). I tried for like an hour to revive him, wrapping him in warm towels and massaging him, squirting a few drops of sugar-water in his mouth to try and raise his blood sugar, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.. He just didn't come to.
The other two, the smaller striped male and the golden-brown female are okay, but I'm worried about the female. She's having pale yellow diarrhea, so for the rest of her feedings tonight I'm going to give her 1cc pedialyte (to combat dehydration) and hope she can make it through the night so I can take her and her brother to the vet when they open (7am).
The large brown male resembled an Ewok so I named him Wicket.

The vet tried everything she could to revive him but he died anyway. :[ Fortunately the female is still doing very well, and the vet said to just keep doing what I was doing and hope for the best.
I didn't get a chance to come up with a good name for the smaller male before he died, but I think I'll call him Ash (the name they put on the invoice was "Grey"). RIP Ash/Grey

tell me your kitten stories
Posted 15 years agoon thursday i rescued a bunch of kittens who were trapped under a big pile of flattened shrubs: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4026882/ and I've been taking care of them and they're a lot healthier than I expected them to be! I was going to take them to the vet but when my mom called her she said that i didn't need to take them in until they were 6 weeks old (I guess that makes sense, as you can't even reliably tell their genders at a few days old).
When I feed them and they're particularly forceful about suckling, their little ears and/or tails twitch in unison with their suckling (hint: this is mind-smashingly adorable)

Posted 16 years agoI didn't take it out of my bag the entire con except once (and I promptly put it back in) and somehow its missing. <:I Hotel said they'd call me back if they found it.
Edit: The hotel called me today, saying that they had found it. Gonna pick it up tomorrow!
Editedit: whelp because i was swamped with homework most of the week i ended up not being able to go back to the hotel until saturday.
When I got there they gave me a camera that looked nothing like the camera I had described, wasn't the model I told them it was, wasn't even by the same company (my camera was a canon, the one they thought was mine was a sony). For some reason they didn't have any notes laying around about me losing the camera, according to them whenever someone reports that they've lost something they write down the person's name, number, the item lost, etc.
They had two cameras turned in to their lost and found, and the other camera (that had already been taken) sounded suspiciously like mine. The guy is just describing it, and it matches my camera perfectly. Of course they don't just give out lost and found items to anyone who asks (and I know that my camera isn't the only black digital camera in the world), apparently the guy they gave the other camera to was able to prove that it was his somehow.

Posted 16 years agomy dad used to download all sorts of freeware/open source/whatever games, and a lot of them were pretty cool, but all I have are vague memories of gameplay and the titles just escape me.
one game was a 2D sidescroller sort of thing. you could play by yourself or with another person. you'd go to another screen with all the rabbits jumping around and the goal would be to crush the other rabbits. you'd jump on them and turn them into a bloody mess, but they'd respawn instantly somewhere else on the screen.
this was the whole point of the game; i don't remember any high scores or anything else about it. also, adorable music played on an endless loop all the way through.
there was another that was basically that snake game (running around eating fruit or whatever and getting longer and you can't run into your own tail), but 3D. i think it was multiplayer too. some features may have been disabled until you bought the full game. anyway, you were a snake eating fruits on the ground in a little field. the perspective was 3rd person, as if you were riding on the snake's back. the field had dark woods surrounding it... if you went into the woods, you died automatically. it may have been bloody?
and the other one i have any memory about was a 3D game where you were an anthro cat. it was a puzzle game, but i can't remember the exact mechanics. the levels i remember were a forest, a beach, and a castle.

What I got was a 5 second video of his couch and window. The window is very bright, so I can't see anything outside. Nothing was happening in the video, it was just a shot of that part of his house, and there was a ticking noise.

Posted 16 years agoIn elementary school during story time or whatever one time the teacher read us this book about some lion king dying and the lioness held a competition for the other animals to become king and the goal was you had to throw a spear in the air and count to 10 before it it the ground and all sorts of animals tried and failed but a gazelle tried and counted by twos and won so he became the new king

A long time ago when I was a weeaboo in middle school I had this Mary Sue ~*vampire/dragon/elf*~ (I uploaded it somewhere in my gallery here) that I pissed everyone in IRC off with.
There was a phase where she was a generic catgirl version of me, and when the actual fur started to happen was sometime in high school. It started with a hardcore lesbian skunk with ~*a*t*t*i*t*u*d*e*~ that rejected all fur-fetishes because that was cool.
Then she became half-hyena and dead. Then shi turned into a hermaphrodite because thats sexy, and eventually ended up being some unrecognizable species.

Important Dinosaur Question

There were like 2 of them and they were about these tiny shrunk-down dinosaurs that somehow survived til modern times and them some kid finds them and all sorts of hijinks occur.
In the sequel one its about this rich kid who finds them and the tiny dinosaurs fight off his evil nanny and reunite him with his dad and help him become a better person or some shit and trains were somehow involved. I thought they were incredible at the time because what kid DOESN'T want to have tiny dinosaurs as pets?
Does anyone else remember these movies? :[
